Something that always confused me were the people claiming Oliver didn't love Sara, wasn't really interested in her....

Right. That is why he was the one pursuing her and making the first step, initiating their involvements EVERY SINGLE TIME!

He begged her to come on the Gambit with him, she was having some serious doubts and Oliver went all caps on her "PLEASE" with exclamation points like seriously? How desperate was he to get her to come with him? But sure, it was just about sex cause Oliver Jonas Queen wouldn't have been able to pick up just any woman simply to have some physical fun with while travelling. He was begging his girlfriend's sister to join him on a trip with his father on a freaking Yacht which made keeping their affair a secret pretty much impossible.

On Lian Yu he risked everything to save her, to keep her safe and to protect her time and again. He was the one who initiated the kiss on the Freighter. He was the one making it very clear to her how he felt and what he wanted. Cause, there's no way that kiss was cause he wanted to get it on... it was a "we may not see each other again because I might die and I need you to know how I feel" kind of kiss.

When she came home, he did everything within his power to convince her to stay.

He was once again the one pursuing her and initiating their relationship.

He was the one taking their involvements to the next step or trying to "We should think about getting a more permanent place.

" - "we? are you asking me to move in with you?"

Oliver also didn't want her to leave. Tried to stop her even when knowing he can't.

And the look on his face in 3.01 when she showed up and his "I hope so" after asking if she'd be around more permanently again.

Oliver Jonas Queen loved Sara Lance dearly, completely, selflessly and unconditionally.

Sara was the one he chose time and again.

"I chose you." Was true in more ways than simply his choice between Shado and Sara.

Oliver was willing to risk everything, including his life for her years before he became a vigilante, had proper training or suffered any sort of losses.

Irresponsible, "selfish" according to him, immature playboy Ollie was willing to die in order to look for Sara after the Gambit sank. Mr. "I detest swimming" would've jumped back into the freezing, stormy seas of the North China Sea had Robert not held him back.

But sure, it was just a fling and she meant nothing to him.

Okay, I'm done ranting now. But just saying, there was no one Oliver took more risks for than Sara. Saving Felicity or Laurel after years of training doesn't measure up to him saving Sara, getting between her and a gun etc with little to no training and a much bigger chance of him dying.

But that is just my humble opinion.

Sara Lance x daughter reader

POV: The legends have a mission and Charlie has to save the day, but gets hurt while doing that. It’s 2018.

Warnings ⚠️: blood, weapons, swearing

“Mom I can handle myself.” Charlie said walking behind her mother. “We talked about this now too often. You’re a kid, my kid and I said no.” Sara said not even turning around. “I am 17 years old, Mom. I’m not Child anymore.” She said. They now arrived at the bridge. “Physically yes. Do I have to remind you that you’re born 2007, that makes you 10.” Sara said.

Oliver and Sara went onto the Queens Gambit to hide the pregnancy from everyone. Sara gave birth to her on the ship of the bad guys. When she “died” a second time, Oliver was left with Charlie on the island. Then she got sick and Oliver panicked so he gave her the Mirakuru. Which lead her to the grow to a 8 year old girl in 2008. Now in 2018 she still looks like 17, but is 11 years old. With the Mirakuru she got strong and clever, Nate likes to call her ‘Big Brain’.

“Oh really you play that card, again? But isn’t the Mirakuru an argument for me going to a mission? I’m stronger and harder to kill.” she said annoyed. “That makes not a better case for you. You are not going onto mission. Unterstand?” Sara said starting to point with her finger. Before Charlie could answer Gideon interrupts. “Captain Lance, there is an anachronism.” she announces. “Gather the team. This conversation is not over” Sara said walking to the round board in the middle.

It didn’t take long until everyone was gathered around. “What to we got?” Ray asked standing next to Sara. “There has been a Zombie attack in 1973.” Gideon explained. “Okay, Zari you stay here. Everyone else suit up, we have mission.” Sara said. Charlie sits in the background on one of the chairs. She was really pissed at her mom, pissed that she still treats her like a child even tough she’s been through more then most grown ups. She made her way to her room while Zari moves the Waverider to the right time and place. After Zari did her job and legends are just observing, she made her way to Charlie. She knocks on the door.

“Can I come in?” she asked and door opens. “You do know she just wants to protect you?” She said sitting down on her desk chair. “Since when do you agree with her?” Charlie said looking up to her. “Since I know that you should worship every minute you have with your family.” Zari said. “She lost so much. She doesn’t want to lose you too.” she said. “I know, but I’m not a kid and I’ve been through worse stuff.” she said groaning. “She would understand if you finally explain what happened to you on the island when you were alone.” Zari said. Charlie just looked at her. Zari and Felicity are the only people on earth knowing what happened in that one and a half year where Charlie was alone on the island. “I can’t. I’m not telling her to protect her.” Charlie said. “But don’t you think she will feel betrayed when you tell her?” Zari said looking at her. There is a silence after that. Suddenly Charlie jumps up. “Betray! Zari you’re a genius!“ she said running to the bridge.

Zari took after her. “Why am I a genius?” she asked when they arrived. “Well I asked myself. How the hell did freaking zombies get into 1973?” Charlie explaining while typing something. “And why did they target a small supermarket, instead of the peace event right next to it?” Charlie said. “Right! Normally they would target the place with the most people.” Zari said. “But what if someone wanted them there, to lure the legends there. Someone who felt betrayed and wants revenge but still has a heart not to hurt hundred of people.” she kept going. “Someone like Jane Bloom.” Charlie said letting the image show on the screen. “Ex-Worker at the Bureau. But got fired after she had something against us.” Charlie said. “So she is angry.” Zari said and Charlie just nods. “Sara we’ve got some news.” Zari said, but there was no answer. Zari and Charlie just looked at each other. “Coms are down.” Charlie said. She types something more. “Fuck.” she said running towards the entrance. “Charlie? Where are you going?” Zari asked running after her. “To them. She is especially pissed at mom. She wants her dead. We can’t warn them. So I go there and warn them.” She said taking her arrows and bow. “Ok but I come with you.” Zari said. “No you stay here be my eyes and ears. We go on my private channel so she can’t stop that to. My mom is not going to die today!” Charlie walking out.

Charlie made her way through the city. Now and then she found a zombie on her way and killed it with a perfect shot arrow in the head. When she arrived at the scene she stayed in the background watching the Legends fight the zombies. “Zari you there?” Charlie whispered. “Yeah Baby Lance. You see here?” Zari asked through the coms. “Not yet.” Charlie said still watching everyone closely. Then she sees Sara being busy fighting a zombie and Jane coming from behind with a sword like weapon. Without thinking twice Charlie jumped between the two. The sword stabbing through her stomach. She fell to the ground. By now Sara noticed and knocked Jane out. After that she immediately runs to Charlie. “Charlie! Oh god.” Sara exclaimed while laying Charlies head on her lap. Ray already trying to stop the bleeding. “Why did you that?” Sara said stroking her hair. “It couldn’t be you.” Charlie just said slowly closing her eyes. “Charlie! Baby stay with me. Open your eyes come on.” were the last words she heard.

Sara run to the waverider. Her dying daughter in her arms. When she walked in Zari run by. “What happened?” she said after seeing Charlie. No one answers, all to focused on her. Sara makes her way to the medby. “Gideon! Tell me what going on.” Sara yelled placing her daughter on the chair and putting the bracelet on her wrist. “It seems like the sword was able to hurt organs of Ms. Lance. If I am able to repair that, I have to put her into a coma.” Gideon explained. “Chance of survival?” Sara asked even though she doesn’t want to her the answer. “15%, Captain Lance”. Sara didn’t know how the act or respond. She goes and takes Charlies hand. “Come back to me Sweetheart.” Sara says while pushing hair out of her daughters face. “She is strong, Sara” Nate says standing behind her. “Can you call Oliver and Felicity? Tell them what happened.” she said not looking at him. Nate walked away and does as he is told.

Gideon was able to repair the organs of Charlie but had to put her into a coma. And like she said, the chance that Charlie wakes up is low. Hours turned into Days and days into weeks.

For 4 weeks Charlie was now in the coma. They changed the chair in the medbay into a hospital bed, also big enough so Sara can stay the nights there. Oliver and Felicity came and visit. Right now Sara was sitting on a chair next to Charlie watching her closely. At the same time the team sits at bridge. Everyone was still down and it’s like with Charlie the good spirit of the ship went into a coma. “It’s weird seeing Sara like that.” Zari exclaimed. “Well she usually doesn’t show emotions to often, but when it comes to Charlie she is always softer.” Ray said sitting down. Suddenly there was a ring and Ava Sharpe tried calling via video. “We can’t press her away forever.” Nate said standing up and accepting the call. “Mr. Heywood. I would like to talk to your captain.” she said without a hint of emotions. “I’m sorry, but Captain Lance is not available at the moment.” Ray says now standing next to his best friend. “You have been reclining my calls for week and stop working. It’s time to start working again.” she said. “We have our reasons and they are non of your business.” Zari said this time. “Is it because of Ms. Lance?” She asked and everyone looked surprised. “I know everything. And it has to be said. She is just another human being. Let it go and get your asses up and work. Now I would like to talk to your captain.” she said. This time Mick stands up. “If you talk one more word about Charlie I will burn down your whole office.” he growls and hangs up the call. Everybody looks at Mick, confused on how protective he got. In the medbay Sara fell asleep in the chair next to Charlie.

Pain is the first thing that Charlie feels when she opens her eyes. Her hands go immediately to her stomach where no longer a sword was in, but a bandage wrapped around. She looks around and realises she is in the medbay, she also sees her mother next to her. “Ms. Lance. It’s is good to see you’re awake.” Gideon says. Because of the noice Sara jolts up thinking something bad is happening. “Careful we don’t want you to fall.” Sara turns around from where the voice came from and sees her daughter awake in the bed. Sara hugs her immediately holding her like she is going to lose her any moment. “How are you feeling?” She asked looking at her. “Good. Well, this hurts like a b***h.” Charlie points at her stomach. Everyone was relieved to see her awake. Her dad also came to visit.

Over the next few days it came out that she only survived because of the Mirakuru in her blood. Recovery was still hard but she had the Legends and her mom by her side always.

Right now she was laying on her own bed watching a movie. There was a knock on her door, with a press of button the door opens and her mom stands there with a plate of food. “Thanks but I’m not hungry.” she says and looks back at the TV. “But you haven’t ate your breakfast or lunch. You gotta eat something, baby.” Sara said placing the plate on the nightstand and runs her hand through Charlies hair. She sits down on the desk chair, next to the bed. It had been standing there since Charlie slept in her own bed again and Sara was there until she fell asleep. Sara takes the remote and pauses the movie. “Hey! I was watching that.” Charlie says looking at her mother. “We have to finish our conversation.” Sara said looking at her with a face Charlie couldn’t interpret. “No we don’t. I understood what you had to say and I won’t bother you again.” she said taking the plate starting to eat trying to get out of the conversation. “You didn’t bother. While you were in that coma I had a lot of time to think. About everything. You’re not a child anymore and you’re more clever than me for sure. You proved that. Connecting the dots between Jane and the attack. It was brilliant. So I decided to let you come onto missions. Little ones in the beginning” Sara said. Charlie smiled and jumped up hugging her. It was not the most clever decision given her wound. “Careful we don’t want you to tear your stitches again.” Sara said but with a smile on her face. She helps Charlie sitting down again. “And don’t forget small ones. I choose, no complaints.” Charlie just nods on that comment. Sara laid down with her daughter and the movie continued. Sara didn’t plan on staying the night in Charlies room but she fell asleep on her chest and Sara didn’t want to wake her up. After Charlie healed completely she went on her first official mission and solved it like a real legend.

to quote my Arrowverse Polycule AU fic, kintsugi:

"[Sara] had changed so much over the years, but so had [Oliver]. Everything she did now had an air of confidence. The Sara he grew up with was giggly and kittenish, flashing him puppy-dog-eyes and blowing him kisses behind Laurel’s back. She was emotional, letting her immaturity and insecurity drive her into his arms, onto the Gambit, just like a younger Oliver let his own issues lead his life into the direction of Lian Yu.

He had known Sara almost his entire life and every time he saw her, she got more and more unrecognizable from the girl he used to know. Oliver had been broken his fair share, but the number of times Sara died was bigger.

Even though this version of her was still shattered, she seemed so breezy. So much more self-assured than the Sara he loved before the Gambit, yet so leery.

Every time Sara died, it was like pottery being shattered. Every time she came back, she filled in her own missing pieces with something shiny and glistening. Oliver had learned about something like that from Tatsu and Maseo; they called it kintsugi. But when you die too many deaths and lose too many fragments of who you used to be, the fragile pottery is barely noticeable among the hardened gold that now makes you up.

Then again, it must be jarring for Sara to compare the Oliver in front of her to the Oliver that invited her on that boat. That Oliver was someone. The Oliver he was now was something. Maybe Sara Lance was kintsugi personified, but he would be damned if it didn’t remind him of himself, too.

Whoever and whatever they had turned into, the Sara he was smiling at now would always be golden in his eyes. Maybe she couldn’t harness the light inside of him like Felicity, but that’s not what he needed from Sara. All Oliver needed from her was the bond that came with being in the eye of the Gambit’s storm, and the comforting solidarity of kissing the lips of someone else who had also built themselves back up from the grave so many times.

And, Oliver suspected, that’s what Sara needed from him, too. They had broken each other’s hearts one too many times, but they could smooth over the cracks together, with brightness seeping from their palms. Maybe that’s why they worked so well.

their relationship lead to the worst part of both their lives and they can never go back to who they were when it started. they're like ghosts possessing their own rotting corpses. and if they're ghosts, then their love is a zombie, reanimated and hungry, eating itself alive. sara left him because she thought she couldn't harness the light inside of him, but i don't think that's ever what oliver needed/wanted from sara. sometimes you just need someone as fucked up as yourself to tell you those three little words because if they can love you, then maybe you can love yourself, and start to love them back.

(You came at the perfect time! Writer’s block has been kicking my ass. But here is the story! Don’t have much to say as an opening statement, except that I love the oc I have created. Laurel had gone through the ringer. She found out her boyfriend and sister were dead at the same time she found out they had been sleeping together. She decided it was easier to drink the mixed emotions she had away, but that only lasted for a few weeks. Because lo-and-behold, she was pregnant with her dead ex’s child.

The only bright side to that she saw was Ollie wouldn’t be around to argue about it with her. Only her opinion would matter here. Having a kid would surely make it harder to get through law school. Not to mention her parents (who were already going through enough shit) would probably freak out. So, she did the only thing she thought she could do. She got out of Star.

Transferring to Central was rough, but Laurel loved the city. It was so cheery compared to back home. So full of life. Plus, it had a pretty decent nightclub scene.

Her mom drove her to all of her appointments. Laurel had always wanted a kid, and she’d go through with the pregnancy even if she didn’t have Ollie to help her. Besides, it was easier when she lived in a house with a woman who had two of them before. Still, the pains and cravings and no access to caffeine wasn’t very pleasant.

Cerise Lydia Lance was born in early spring 2008 after a few hours in the hospital. As far as the world knew, the father was unknown, although there were many, many rumors. The Queens were aware that Oliver had gotten her pregnant, but outside of Laurel’s family, that was about it.

Mick hadn’t wanted to be a dad ever in his life. He’d rather pretend to be stupid and follow Snart around having a good time. He had gone to the High School Reunion on a whim, had sex with Ali on a whim, forgot to ask if she was on the pill, and now she was visiting him in prison telling him she was pregnant. He couldn’t tell her he was mad. Couldn’t tell her to fuck off. He wasn’t his father. He wouldn’t hurt his ex-girlfriend like that. The mother of his child.

They found a way to make it work.

True, most of his daughter’s visits took place in safehouses (Snart and Lisa loved spending time with his kid), but Mick loved Lita to death. He didn’t know what story Ali spun (she said she could take care of it, and Mick trusted her to do just that), but Lita didn’t start asking about his life of crime until later in life.

He couldn’t show up to school events, though. Couldn’t go trick-or-treating most of the time. Mick was selfish, and if anybody found out he had a daughter and was spending time with her in secret, then he could lose any and all contact with her. Forever.

So, he’d take advantage of the visits. Pick up some gifts for Lita along the way (Snart always tried to one-up him on birthdays). Give her the childhood and father he had always wanted. He’d do his best to take care of her. He loved her; more than he thought he was capable of.

Laurel was pissed.

Just like she was after Sara’s death. Apparently, she’s so pissed off she’s been banned from going on patrol for a while!

“We don’t need you doing anything you’ll regret later,” Ollie had said.

“I won’t regret it if it helps me find her!”

“I’m not going to let you violently interrogate criminals.”

“I haven’t-”

“But you could.” He put a hand on her shoulder. “I miss her too.”

Laurel had moved back to Star when she found out her sister had died. She became a vigilante to avenge her death and protect the innocent. Protect her daughter. She had told Ollie he had a kid, got him to spend time with her, helped them develop a relationship.

But then Damien Darhk had the fucking nerve to kidnap Cerise. And she was going to kill his immortal ass if it’s the last thing she does.

But, again, she had been told to take a break from patrol. She was pissed but could understand the reasoning. Which was why Laurel was taking her gear and heading to her mom’s house in Central City. She was taking leave from work in order to make this happen. She was going to drop off her luggage at her mom’s and take her equipment to STAR Labs.

Laurel got out of the car and went into her mom’s house, setting her suitcase in the guestroom, hoping she could get out before-

“Laurel?”

-that.

“Hey, Mom.” She slowly turned around to face her mother, who was standing in the doorway to her room disapprovingly.

“Not even going to say hi?”

Laurel scratched her neck nervously. “I... I’ve gotta get to the lab-”

“You can at least eat some lunch first.”

She internally groaned, but let her mom guide her into the dining room. She tapped her fingers against the tabletop anxiously. Her mom came back into the room, holding a closed paper bag.

“Some grilled cheese for the road.”

Laurel mumbled a ‘thank you’ and took it quickly.

“One more thing.” She looked up to meet her mother’s gaze. Her mom sighed before continuing. “I know you’re scared. And I don’t blame you. But you’ve gotta keep a clear head. I want Cerise home safe just as much as you do. Be careful out there. I love you.”

“Love you too.” Despite the crippling fear, Laurel couldn’t help her smile, even as she was shooed out the door. She got into her car, took a deep breath, and started driving towards STAR Labs.

Mick had started taking Lita to STAR Labs as part of their visits. Mainly because she had figured out about him being a Rogue, and also because she was a fan of the Flash (ugh). She also liked spending time with Blondie.

Sara had come into their lives a little after they ‘went straight’ (knowing Snart, there were bound to be some heists here and there), and suddenly, the Boss had a girlfriend. Not that Mick cared all that much. He liked Blondie. She was fun. She was also giving his kid self-defense lessons (Ali had given the go-ahead a few weeks ago).

But today was a relaxing day. One of the nerds was helping Lita with her math homework (the one with glasses and a punchable face) while Mick sat next to her trying to follow along. Just as they were getting done with the worksheet (seriously, why were these things so long?!), a woman stormed into the cortex.

Blondie stood up, meeting her half-way. “You got here fast.”

She huffed, holding a duffel bag of sorts. “Where’s Allen?”

“At work. I’ll go get Cisco.” Sara jogged out of the room, leaving the other woman standing there. She set her bag down on a nearby empty desk and opened it, rummaging through it.

“I believe that’s all we have to do today,” the nerd told Lita before walking off.

Lita took a deep breath and closed her book. “Ima run to the bathroom. Be right back.”

She then walked towards the restroom, leaving Mick alone with the stranger. She had long blonde hair and green eyes, wearing a pantsuit and fidgeting with the bag on the table. It might’ve been the beer he had earlier or pure curiosity (probably a mix of both) that made Mick stand up and sit down next to her. She looked up at him.

“Uh...”

“What’s got ya so riled up?” He tried to make himself look as nonthreatening as possible (even though that was pretty difficult).

She scoffed, looking back at her bag. “You wouldn’t understand.”

Mick didn’t take offense to that. A lot of people thought he was stupid. Instead, he leaned in a little closer, giving her time to lean back or push him away (surprisingly, she didn’t), and gave her a toothy grin. “Try me.”

She looked down at her hands and sighed. “My daughter’s been kidnapped.”

He felt his blood boil. “Who did it?”

The woman tilted her head, looking him in the eyes again. “Damien Darhk. Immortal asshole. And if he lays a finger on her, he’s going to wish he was dead after I’m through with him.”

“Mind if I help?”

She blinked a few times, shocked. “You don’t even know my name.”

“Well why don’t ya tell me it so I can help?”

She laughed after a moment, holding out her hand. “Laurel Lance.”

“Ah, Blondie’s sister.” He shook her hand with a small smile. “Mick Rory.”

“So, do you mean that? You’d help me?”

“If he hurts your kid, I’ll help you do whatever you want to him. Now, you need Sunglasses’ help?”

She nodded, not even pausing at the nickname. “Cisco might be new to his powers, but if there’s a chance for me to get another lead, I’m taking it.”

Mick didn’t want to admit it, but if Lita were kidnapped, he’d probably (and begrudgingly) get the nerd squad’s help. And they’d have to help him, otherwise Central’s gonna be lit on fire. “Mind if I tag along on the rescue mission?”

“You...” Laurel shook her head, eyes wide. “You’d do that for me?”

“Look, I get what it’s like to have a kid. And I know if Lita was kidnapped like your daughter is, I’d do anything I could to find her. So, I’ll help ya as long as ya let me.”

She smiled a little. “Huh. Guess you do understand. Alright, you can help. You sure you can keep up with me, though?”

Mick grinned, hearing the challenge (and was that a little flirting?) in her tone. “Never know unless ya try.”

She laughed. “Roger that partner.”

They quickly said their goodbyes, and as Mick drove Lita home and sped back to STAR Labs, he couldn’t help his intrigue. He meant what he said. He’d help her.

He just didn’t know at the time how important that little girl and her mom would be to him in the future.

To be or not to be (a queen) by MiriRainbowitz (Oliver/Felicity, 2/2, 2022-04-26) - Felicity had had fairly ambitious life plans, but she'd never bothered to include "becoming Queen of a (small) European country when she turned 21". Still, she's not going to back away from her duty- especially now that some pretentious would-be usurper is trying to take her crown.

Complicated by m3m (Oliver/Felicity, 48/48, 2022-05-31) - Felicity Smoak is determined not to let her relationship with Oliver get complicated. She's been there, done that with a masked vigilante, and it ended very poorly, to say the least. But her plans are derailed by two things: her strong and unshakeable attraction to Oliver and Bruce's completely unexpected arrival at Queen Consolidated.

Young And A Menace by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 7/7, 2022-04-26) - Barry is 16, on as many prescriptions as the doctor will allow for his ‘psychosis’, and furious with it. People who know, who saw his green smudge like paint, all say it's wasted on a freak like him. As much as he thinks about it, Barry is perfectly aware of how unwanted he is. Oliver Queen is 20, mindbogglingly rich, achingly beautiful, and high on the fast life. Most importantly though is that over the course of the night- as Oliver plies him with a rum and coke followed by more than a few Shirley Temples- Barry’s emerald green smudge begins to spell his name in a quick messy cursive script. It's a rather awe inspiring match to Oliver’s own red splotch spelling Barry’s name in his furiously quick chicken scratch.

When Demon Hunters Meet The Arrow by The_Unlimited (Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester, Laurel/Oliver, 12/12, 2022-05-23) - Discovering a new job happening in Starling City, Sam and Dean decide to head up there despite all of the dangers of their resident vigilante. Pretty soon, they're working with that vigilante to search for the monsters they have to take out, and end up helping him discover the truth of more than a few of the problems happening to his city and to his family and friends. Maybe they should have let Garth take care of this one...

Barry has school to think about and he’s not about to intrude on a Father-Son outing with the Queens. He’s learned how to judge what trips he should go on. So, he says no. Tommy isn’t going and it's a trip to Hong Kong for actual business so obviously Barry has no reason to be there as Robert’s stand-in buddy or whatever. It’s not until Oliver looks at him and says, “I fucked up Bear.” Then proceeds to go into horrible detail about all the things he’s done to blow up his relationship with Laurel that Barry agrees to come. Oliver is hurting and while it's his own damn fault, Barry’s job has always been to be there for him. Even when it breaks his own heart. [Alternatively: AN AU of my AU where Oliver doesn't kiss Barry, which leads him to join Oliver on The Gambit]

Don't You Know Who I Used To Be? by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 8/8, 2022-05-27) - When he returns he brings the weight of grief as well as a motorcycle that’s black, sleek, and seems like it belongs in a car magazine and not the parking garage of their building. Barry tells her very quietly one day, “The bike, it's a Ducati. It was Oliver's. We- We used to ride it on days he didn’t drink. One time, I bribed him to come to one of his mother’s parties by telling him I’d learn to ride it. I was so upset about it. The party sucked so much I really didn’t want to learn." It's the first time he cries in front of her and Barry is 6 feet tall but he looks so small at that moment. All Iris can do is be there for him, holding his hand and it’s devastating and feels like she’s been thrown into water that’s far too deep to swim in but afterwards Barry thanks her so quietly she thinks she might have dreamed it. [Alternatively: Barry Allen through the years in the eyes of the people that love, or have grown to love him.]

Okay, Felicity says, twenty minutes into the episode, sorry but I’ve gotta say something about it.

They’re in Laurel’s apartment, watching some new sci-fi show that Sara had suggested (she’d grinned while doing so, which means that it’s either gonna turn out to be ridiculously awful or end on some horrible cliffhanger; Laurel had taken it as a challenge). Thea’s zonked out in the guestroom, and, normally, Felicity wouldn’t be that far behind.

Normally. If it weren’t for. Well.

‘bout what? Laurel says, through a mouthful of post-ass-kicking-fries.

(Felicity will never stop being jealous about her ability to put away junk food while still being able to look like that)

About—she makes a vague waving gesture with her hands—you know!?

Laurel’s eyebrow rises, and, after a few moments of it not lowering again, Felicity says, what you said on the comms!, and then, when that doesn’t do anything: about me being hot!

Laurel goes to say something, realises she still has a full mouth, and hastily swallows instead. ...female empowerment?, she tries, weakly.

Felicity opens and then closes her mouth a few times; Laurel very blankly puts her bowl on her lap and her face into her hands.

I didn’t realise my comms were still on, she mumbles, through her fingers.

Oh, Felicity says.

She thinks that that’ll be it, that it’ll just be some funny story that they laugh at years down the road like wow remember that time I said I was gonna ruin a bad dude’s life and you said God, that’s hot under your breath? Funny, right?

What she doesn’t expect is for Laurel to very quietly say, I meant it.

You did? Felicity says. Or, tries to say. It comes out as more of a high pitched squeal.

Yeah, Laurel says. Her cheeks are very pink.

Me too, Felicity says, and Laurel’s head snaps up. Well, not too, because I didn’t say anything but— I mean that I, too. I, uh—

She likes you, too, Thea says, through the wall. You both like each other, you have for like three years, now please shut up, it’s 4 fucking am.
