humanity really is full of kindness. today I went to buy a new phone bc my old one died a death, and my friend had sent me a picture of her staff card so that I could hopefully get a discount at the shop.

when I asked the girl working there whether I could use the photo of the barcode to get the discount she told me that they don't allow that but then she winked and typed the numbers in by hand.

a kind gesture that really meant the world to me

Btw I might have gotten an 82yo woman into Detective Conan today. She asked where to watch it and I was like. “Oh um. So. In English, you’ll probably do best with the DVDs…” and she was like “PERFECT” and then I told her about what’s available in the Japanese subtitles. She said she’s very interested in Japanese culture.

This all started because I couldn’t keep my autistic mouth shut and I bring up Detective Conan every waking moment essentially. And my job is tech related and I brought up how fast technology changes, and how “there’s this show I’ve been watching, and there’s a character that they keep the same age but they update it along with the times, ya know? So if you watch earlier episodes it’s a time capsule into what early technology was like.”

She thinks it’s so cool how in early episodes Conan has a pager and in new ones he’s using a smartphone. I told her the show is as old as I am (it’s older) and also she was so delighted that I was like “oh yeah I’m a huge fan of Conan Doyle!”

So anyway! I hope she’s having a good day.

I wish we had more female characters like Eleanor Shellstrop. One of the most unlikable people you've ever met. Read a Buzzfeed article on most rude things you can do on a daily basis and decided to use that as a list of goals. Makes everyone's day worse just by being there. Dropped a margarita mix on the ground and tried to pick it up, only to get hit by a row of shopping carts which pushed her into the road where she was hit by a boner pill delivery truck, killing her instantly. Cannot keep a romantic partner despite being bisexual. Had a terrible childhood but will die before she gets therapy. Best employee at a scam company. Just the worst but also can't help but root for her to improve.

Absolute loser. Girl-failure. Bad at almost everything. Literally perfect female character.
