Love is in the Air (Why Didn’t You Tell Me?)

Pairing: Beck Oliver x Fem!Reader

Fandom: Victorious (Nickelodeon)

Summary: Based on the episode of Victorious “Beggin’ on Your Knees,” where you take the place of Tori. Some things are changed.

Love was in the air at Hollywood Arts, and you absolutely hated it. You sat on the stairs in the main hallway and watched all the main couples of the school go about their day.

Trina came into view. She was running after Jade. “Babe! I said I was sorry!”

Jade’s jaw tightened as she turned back around to her girlfriend. “You walked in on my auditions!”

“I’m sorry! You know how I get! I see an opportunity and I just gotta take it. Y’know?”

Her words didn’t soothe Jade’s anger. “My audition isn’t your opportunity!”

Trina paused for a moment. “Well, yeah. I know that now...Listen what if I buy you those new scissors you wanted?”

That seemed to immediately resolve a lot of Jade’s resentment. “...The ones that are diamond encrusted?”

“The very same,” Trina nodded. “Do you like me again?”

Jade took a step up to Trina, took her hand, and kissed her cheek. “Maybe...”

The two walked off together.

“Whatcha doin’?” Beck was suddenly looming over you.

You turned around to look at him. “Wallowing in my loneliness.” You turned back around and rested your head on your hands.

“...That sounds like fun,” Beck responded, not knowing what else to say.

“Robbie!!! Robbie!!!” Cat burst onto the scene by running down the stairs and screaming bloody murder for Robbie. She reached the middle of the main hallway and released her loudest scream yet. “ROBBIE SHAPIRO!!!”

The boy came sprinting into view on Cat’s right. “What? What is it? Everyone’s telling me you’re looking for me, Cat. Is everything okay? Are you hurt?”

“No,” Cat answered, much calmer than before.

“Then what is it?” Robbie asked, still very concerned.

Cat’s response was simple: “I missed you.” She then leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Robbie’s torso.

Robbie let his head rest on top of hers. Probably to equally revel in her cuteness and insanity. “I...I missed you too, sweetheart...But next time, maybe try calling me on the phone...” His voice trailed off as he and Cat walked away.

“Hey, guys.” Tori approached you and Beck, hand-in-hand with André.

You immediately rolled your eyes. “Here we go. Yet another couple to rub their happiness in my face.”

“I’m sorry?” Tori wasn’t sure if she should’ve apologised for her happiness.

“What’s with the sour attitude?” André wondered. When he and Tori came to a stop, he traded holding hands with her with putting an arm around her shoulder.

“Nothing’s up. Right, Y/n?” Beck answered for you. Before you could respond to Beck, he asked the three of you, “You guys wanna get lunch?”

Both Tori and André nodded. “Sure.”

Beck grabbed your hand. “You’re coming too. C’mon.” He dragged you along with him.

Outside, you were mainly focusing on your food, which was why you didn’t notice, at first, a guy walk up next to you. When you did notice him, you saw that he wasn’t just a guy, he was Ryder Daniels, a senior. A really hot senior at that. He was talking to you.

“Hey. It’s W/n, right?”

“Y/n.” Beck corrected without looking up from his meal.

Ryder cleared his throat. “Y/n, right. How are you doing?”

“I-I’m doing okay...How are you?”

Ryder smiled at you. “I’m good. So, Y/n, I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime?”

You felt your eyes widen. “With me?”

Vaguely, you heard Beck go, “With her?”

Ryder gave a weird look to Beck. “Yeah...” He turned back to you. “What do you think?”

“Uh, s-sure.” You had to physically push the word out.

“Great.” Ryder grinned and walked away.

“Great!” you called after him, then turned back to your friends. “What just happened?”

Tori was the first to answer. “What do you think just happened? You got a date!”

Your heart was beating out of your chest. “Really? Are you sure?”

“Yes!” André congratulated you. “Be happy, Y/n!”

You were pretty sure that was what you were feeling. Your heart wouldn’t slow down to tell you anything else.

That night, you had just finished a pretty fun night with Ryder. You couldn’t believe it, but you were pretty sure you had just fallen into your first relationship.

There was a knock at your door.

You walked toward it, confused. “Ryder? Did you forget something?” You opened your door to find not Ryder. “Beck?”

“I don’t like this.” He came marching into your home.

Your confusion only grew. “Don’t like what?”

He jumped onto another subject. “How was your date?”

“It went fine. We’re doing the Full Moon Jam together. Is this what you’re upset about?” you wondered.

Beck’s jaw clenched. “Maybe.”

“Why?” You were flabbergast.

He thought for a second. “I don’t-I don’t know, but I just don’t like the idea of you with someone else--”

“Are you kidding me?!” you shrieked. “All this time, I’ve been alone, Beck. So I swear to god, if you tell me you like me now--”

“I don’t like you!” he shouted back. “I just don’t want to see you with him! I don’t want to see you with anyone unless it’s m--” Beck immediately stopped talking as realisation dawned on his face.

“...Get out,” was all you had to say.

Beck hung his head as he followed your order.

And just like that, you were left alone.

The next day, you were excited to see Ryder again. You were excited to see anyone that could distract you from Beck. You decided to meet Ryder at his locker.

You were about to round the corner when you heard Ryder talking to one of his friends.

“Hey, Ryder. Congratulations! I heard you’re dating that one girl--What is it--W/n?”

“Yeah. Only until she gets me an A on this Full Moon Jam assignment. Then you can have her.”

That was all it took to have you booking it in the other direction.

You weren’t sure how many hours you spent in the janitor’s closet, but you were pretty sure you’d heard the bell ring three times. You weren’t willing to do the math.

Suddenly, the door to the closet burst open. “There you are!” Beck called out, relieved. “Jesus, I’ve got everyone looking for you, y’know...Y/n?”

“He’s using me,” you tearfully informed, “He’s using me to get a good grade on the Full Moon Jam assignment, then he’s gonna dump me.”

Beck didn’t know what to say, “Oh, Y/n.”

“Why didn’t you say anything?” You sprung to your feet.

He thought you were talking about Ryder. “I didn’t know--”

“Not about him. Why didn’t you tell me you liked me before all this mess?”

Beck was ashamed. “I didn’t know about that either until Ryder asked you out.”

“Why didn’t you tell me--?” Your sobs cut you off. You started crumpling into yourself until Beck enveloped you in a hug.

For some reason, life didn’t seem so bad anymore. You hugged him back. The tears kept falling.

“I’m never going to let anyone hurt you again,” Beck whispered, “Whether I have you or not. No one will ever treat you like this again--”

You kissed him.

It was an intense kiss. Beck roughly backed you against some drawers, and you forcefully ran your fingers through Beck’s hair.

Eventually, you two had to part for air, and you just smiled.

“What’s the smile about?” Beck asked. His expression matched yours.

“Oh, a few things,” you answered teasingly. You kissed him again. “I think I know how to get revenge on Ryder, and I’m gonna need your help.

“Anything,” Beck promised you.

“Good,” you grinned, and kissed him again.

Luz’s Softness in Thanks to Them

We all knew Luz was going to have an angst arc in Thanks to Them. Her angst had been building long before then, and King’s Tide was the final straw.

Angst is popular in characters like Amity and Hunter, who act cold and mean as a result of deep pain on the inside. If they cry, it’s in secret, hidden away from anyone who might see through their confident persona. The “bad but sad boy” / “I act like I don’t care but I secretly do” type, to quote Luz.

That’s not what Luz does. Luz cries multiple times in front of others in Thanks to Them, and even has an emotional outburst in front of her teacher in classmates.

It’s the classroom scene that has a lot of people saying Luz is being “cringey,” and that they have to cover their eyes from “second-hand embarrassment.” I’ve seen post after post mocking that scene, saying Luz needs to “sit down and shut up” and that she has a “y/n complex.”

Whether a vulnerable person gets sympathy or ridicule from others is based on mysterious standards of what are acceptable and unacceptable ways to act when we are at our worst. And what is acceptable for some isn’t acceptable for others (white favoritism, especially in the fandom’s response to Hunter’s over-the-top emotional displays vs Luz).

Luz’s outburst in the classroom was highly impulsive and not something many would do, but Luz doesn’t know how to ask for help, not when she feels too guilty to confide in her friends and family.

Luz is at best passively suicidal in TTT. It’s actually one of the first times she DOESN’T see herself as the main character, she sees herself as the selfish villain, the “evil Lucy” rather than the good witch Azura. Her self esteem is at an all time low, to where she doesn’t think she truly deserves love.

It’d be so easy to lock herself away, bottle those feelings inside and turn cold. Many thought this was the direction her character was headed in. And Luz does indeed isolate and keep her inner feelings secret.

But she remains soft and tender-hearted, constantly cheering on her friends and supporting Hunter through his hardships even when she herself is at her worst. She even lets her silliness peek through, calling a possum a “little angel.”

Despite her low self esteem, she very clearly WANTS someone to help her and intervene. She wouldn’t have had the classroom outburst if she didn’t think there was some worth in making her feelings clear, some hope that someone might respond to her and perhaps tell her something different. Which makes it even more heartbreaking when the class gives her a weirded out look and then ignores her.

If someone behaves this way in real life, it should be taken as a serious warning sign, not as a “Oh my god that’s so cringe” moment.

You can see multiple times in the episode Luz fighting her depression, like when she goes to cuddle with Camila. When she asks Camila to let her stay in her bed, it struck me how amazing she really is for being able to do that.

Luz feels she doesn’t deserve to live, yet she still desperately wants to. She wants to hold on so much that she manages to seek comfort, despite her guilt telling her she shouldn’t be receiving it.

When I was her age and in her mental state, I didn’t have the ability to do something like that. Seeking help when you’re in that kind of state is one of the hardest things to do, and Luz does it multiple times.

For people to call her a cringey embarrassment for having an outburst is in very poor taste, and a bad sign for how we view signs of mental illness in real life.

Not everyone who angsts will be like Hunter and Amity, becoming aggressive and/or cold towards others. Not everyone can hide behind thick skin. Some become softer and more sensitive, cry more easily. The latter is in fact the healthier and often more difficult option.

Some expected a cold, withdrawn cynic, hiding away her emotions. Instead we got a messy, tender-hearted girl desperately seeking help in impulsive outbursts.

The fandom is finally starting to focus on her angst and trauma, but let’s not forget the strength that lies in her unfaltering softness as well.

Luz is a loving, kind, strong, beautiful disaster, and she deserves better from this fandom.

Happy Saturday wonderful fandom :) Ahhh the next in the line of goodies to come. This one doesn’t have a ton for them but doesn’t mean there isn’t absolute gems in it. So it'll be a littler shorter than the last one ha Also Aaron is amazingly hilarious in this episode. I love him to death. Let us get started.

5x09 Take Back

We start off with Tim being Watch Commander while Grey is miserable in NYC ha Things get immediately awkward when Chris arrives. Still clueless as ever asking Tim of all people about Lucy’s taste in houses. I mean if you don’t know her taste at this point should you really be buying a house together? Tim looks intrigued when he says he needs his opinion then it gets so awkward when it's about a house...

Tim is so very uncomfortable when he asks his opinion. Knowing this is going NOWHERE for Chris. I’ll never forget this hilarious post I saw about this scene after it premiered. I couldn't find it this time around. Had the lyrics from anti-hero by Taylor swift. ‘It’s me. Hi. I’m the problem it’s me.’ You ain’t ever getting that house with her because of that man sitting there LOL Idk why that post made me laugh so hard but it did. It stuck with me clearly haha

It’s so very weird Chris comes to Tim for this. It's obvious he knows Tim knows her the best. Crazy to me he's not threatened at all by that fact. Clearly he isn’t if he’s coming to Tim for advice. Blows my mind how blind he is. Lucy comes in asking what they’re talking about? Chris tells her he found THE house. Lucy looking as uncomfortable as ever at this news. Saying he's going to call the realtor and call her later. Lucy's high pitched 'I can't wait...' Couldn't be more awkward if she tried.

He gives her a kiss on the cheek and leaves. Tim giving that good ole fake Sanford smile when he does. Tim's face crack me up. Like he stole your girl and you have no idea you putz heh Also just so on brand for Chris to not see how uncomfortable Lucy was. He’s been blind their entire relationship It’s unreal. You can also see how much Tim hates seeing him kiss her. Even if it’s on the cheek.

It’s almost a grimace really as he watches it. Probably thinking of all the ways he could easily kick his scrawny ass haha That fake smile begging for Chris to leave the room so this awkwardness can pass. How Chris doesn’t pick up on either of these vibes I don't know. But then we call him the clueless clown for a reason don’t we?

Lucy doesn’t look comfortable till Chris leaves the office. Tim asking 'How the breakup is going?' HA Cleary it's going well Timothy...Lucy tells him she’s in the planning stages. Just reviewing the literature. Classic Lucy response. Wanting to plan this out completely before pursuing it. Tim telling her a psychology journal isn’t going to tell her how to break up with Chris. I mean he's not wrong.... It's just a bandaid you have to rip off even if its uncomfortable as hell.

He’s so matter of fact with his wording. Using a sports metaphor to explain how she should do it. Makes me wonder if he's actually done this before? Ha She’s adorable in her reply of saying ‘Playbill?’ She truly has no idea what he’s talking about. It’s too funny. It's comical really Tim giving her advice on how to break up with Chris. So you know he can date her haha

Tim has been very patient in all this but you can see him getting a little antsy about it. It is interesting how full circle this moment is. He set them up in 4x12 and now he’s ready to help break them down in this 5x09. Tim is just so ready for Lucy to do this cause he’s anxiously waiting to be with her. It’s pretty damn cute if you ask me. He’s trying to be patient but also is like can we hurry this along a bit?

Lucy says that’s too cruel she wants to handle it her way. No matter how this goes down Chris is going to be hurt though. It's how breakups go there is alway someone who walks away more upset about it. Her empathy taking the front seat in this decision. Where Tim just wants her to rip the bandaid off. Get this over with ASAP.

This is where we see little bit of Tim’s self doubt kick in. It's written all over his face when he asks her if she's having doubts? Worried she’s delaying this because she is having second thoughts about him. About them. Lucy immediately squashes his anxiety with her reply. Shooting massive heart eyes his way as well. She wants Tim to know she’s all in just like he is. That there is nothing for him to worry about.

I love how sure Lucy looks when she tells him 'No, I'm not'. She is so certain this is what she wants. Needs him to know this as well. Not a doubt in her mind about this whole thing. She just has stuff to work out with this breakup first. The certainty in her eyes is everything. Nothing makes more sense to her in this moment than him.

That confidence of hers is why Tim relaxes the way he does above. His whole body draining of the tension he was carrying. His cute smile saying ‘Good.’ Could this man be more of a soft puppy for her? Look at him. That hope and excitement back in his eyes. Lucy replying in kind with her own 'In love 'gaze. They’re both all in and it makes my heart very happy. Also they’re having a full on flirt session in Grey’s office for everyone to see.

I adore Tim being so open and vulnerable in this scene. Making sure she wasn’t backing out. The same Tim who couldn’t communicate in his other relationships to save his life. But with this he is checking in with her. Letting Lucy know his stress about her not breaking up with Chris yet. Lucy assuages his worries instantly. When it’s the right one the harder stuff seems a little easier. More natural. Lucy sensed that panic and instantly calms him with her words and heart eyes. Gah so good. Look at these idiots in love. I just adore them so very much.

This next scene with Aaron is pure gold. I love him so much he cracks me up. Never expected him to be as funny as he is. He notes how quiet she is being and is asking what's going on? Lucy letting him know she needs to break up with Chris. First off like to say we are all Aaron when he says ‘Finally.’ To her breaking up with Chris. Yesssss and Hallelujah finally breaking up with the clown. Nails it even further when he says Chris was never on her level. I mean yeah he never was. Not ever.

Aaron is speaking for the whole Chenford fandom in this moment LOL Chris had nine lives with her and they've finally run out. Aaron's reaction is the best part of this scene. I love that he knew where Lucy's heart was and it obviously wasn't with Chris. He knows it’s with Tim 100 percent. Like most people in their world do. Tim is her equal in so many ways it’s insane. Chris could never compare as Lucy figured out last ep.

Aaron tells her they can practice her breaking up with him. So it’s much easier when the time comes. It’s not a bad idea tbh. This is where it gets hilarious. Lucy brings up them looking at houses. Aaron kinda judging her for letting get as far as looking at houses. Telling her 'Yikes....' HA Tell us how you really feel my man. Lucy reprimanding him saying that is not helpful....Oh Aaron I love you so very much.

Lucy starts her speech trying to find her footing in what she is trying to say. She looks over at Aaron in the middle of it and see he is crying. lol If you didn't laugh at this scene you're dead inside. It's so damn funny. Lucy asking him WTF he is doing? Aaron telling her he is channeling Chris's pain LMFAO I mean he's not wrong she had to be prepared for an emotional response. It's just the way he went about this that is so hysterical. He is having way too much fun with this.

Telling her they should do angry next. I'm rolling. Lucy is doing some channeling of her own. She is channeling her man in this scene. It’s so funny. So aggravated with his role playing in this. Wondering why she asked for his advice in the first place? hahaha They then get a call about a 'Navi'. Lucy is so confused. Aaron geeks out and says it's from Avatar. Tells Lucy she should ask if it’s full grown. The look she gives she is channeling her husband again so much. ‘Aaron, it’s a fictional character...’ LMAO

I really love this ending scene with them. Aaron wants to do one more practice run with her. Lucy tells him she doesn’t need it. (Oh but you do....) That she’s just going to go with her gut on this one. It sounds like a solid idea in the moment but it's honestly the worst thing to wing it. Especially when it's something this intense.

When something is this emotional the right words tend not to just come to you IMO. They sure don't for me. I love him being brutally honest with her about it LOL Saying it’s a terrible idea. That he likes the sentiment but this isn't going to end well. I mean he’s not wrong as we will see here in a bit. Lucy once again channeling Tim in this moment. Cutting him off from saying anything else and just tells him good night haha

We get to the breakup scene we’ve all been waiting for. Lucy is bumbling and awkward. Not knowing where to start. Chris once again blind as a bat. He has no idea why she’s acting this way. Lucy curses Aaron for being right about this moment. Saying she should practiced more LOL I adore her panicking and defaulting to Tim’s playbook advice haha idk what’s funnier that or her being shocked Chris knows what she means by saying that.

All that prep and thinking this out and she went with her man’s advice on how to end this. This makes me giddy to no end. I bet you it’s cause Tim was on her mind from the minute Chris entered the apartment. My guess is that is part of the reason she fell back on his advice. Literally the most Lucy Chen thing ever to use it then be surprised Chris knew what she meant. I love her sfm haha

Chris stumbles around shocked as hell she’s breaking up with him. He seems so very blindsided by the whole thing. I mean if the man opened his eyes for once he wouldn’t be that shocked…But this Chris we are talking about. Lucy tries to get him to talk to her more. Saying they should sit down and talk this out. Chris just bails not wanting to talk at all. Not wanting to fight for her at all. Just takes off like a child who didn't get what he wanted.

Now I’m ok with this. Obviously we all are. Just goes to show you Tim was willing to fight for her and Chris wasn’t in the end. Lucy said it was over and he just left. I mean he wasn’t wrong there isn’t much to talk about out. She doesn’t love him. But still no fight in him at all after Lucy does this. Just folds like a cheap suit. A clueless clown from beginning to end...

We’ve reached the scene of the ep that made us all swoon and squee. I remember feeling so anxious to get to this scene. I had to re-watch the episode to truly appreciate it all. I was too antsy to get back to them sharing a screen. I was so damn giddy this was the place we were in. They spent the majority of this episode apart. So all I could focus on was her coming back to him in this moment.

I adore Lucy coming back into the station to talk about the breakup right away. Needing to share this news with him as soon as she could. I love that she returned to work just to tell him about this. So anxious to get back to Tim after it was done. Lucy wanted him to know as soon as she could it was over with Chris. Knowing he was just as anxious as she was about the breakup. It's sweet how he tentatively approaches her when she says why she is back.

He wants to be understanding about it. Seeing if she wants to talk about it more. Doesn't just want to jump the gun and bulldoze her feelings about the matter. Lucy isn't there to chat about that though. She wants to cash in on him asking her out. Because she couldn’t wait another second without him asking her out again. They're both so damn nervous and sweet in this scene. Fidgety and excited about the prospect of their future. Lucy messing with her hands the entire time as she explains the breakup. Tim keeping his distance while she explains it.

Gah I love her fidgeting near her ring as she approaches Tim. Anxiously awaiting for him to ask her out again. Lucy’s nervous way of reminding him to ask her again like they decided. How she looks into the bullpen before approaching Tim. Saying ‘So…’ He looks nervously excited by her doing this. Eric the king of expressions strikes again. The way his eyes go to check the bullpen as well before refocusing on her. He isn't sure what she is going to do in this moment.

The entire station can see into this office. He looks so friggin cute in his nervousness. I love that that she makes him nervous like this it's so adorable. Lucy gains her confidence and looks him directly in the eye flirty as can be. Asking him if there's something he wants to ask her? The whole purpose of her returning to work is to secure their date. Telling him about the breakup was the catalyst yes. But truly she was wanting to hear him ask her out again.

Tim see's her confidence and starts shaking off his own nerves. Replying in a sassy manner. Their banter the undercurrent of this moment going forward. Fueling them with the courage to say what they want to. Tim can't help being playful and sassy with her replying ‘I can’t remember.’ Doing that cute smirk of his that I love so very much. Wanting to push her buttons a little because well it's Tim.

Lucy is affectionately violent in her reply haha Look at her she is beaming with adoration. She loves this goober in front of her so very much. ‘Don't make me hurt you.’ Because she would legit hurt him if she had to in this moment haha I saw a funny parallel from this to her ripping that tape off in 4x07. She'll do it Timothy LOL Don't test your girl.

I love how he gets serious after she says this. It's the way he slowly moves towards her. That intent look on his face in the first one. *fans self* gah. Then in the second one the way he melts for her. In a way only Lucy gets to see. Asking with as much giddiness and excitement as I ever seen in this man. "Do you wanna go out on a date? Look at this puppy of a man. He is beyond excited to ask her this question again. Knowing now he will get a yes with no stipulations this time around. There is still a little nervous hesitation in his delivery which is precious.

Lucy is bursting at the seams with absolute giddiness when she replies ‘Yeah. I do.’ So happy he's asked her again. How one looks when the man they love asks them out. There’s so much to love about this scene. He’s asking her out in the Watch Commanders office. I love that sfm. Both ecstatic they’re finally going on a date with nothing holding them back now. They’re at work and have to restrain themselves from being too obvious. Which you know they suck at heh

My god anyone looking in on them in that last gif could see how in love these two are. They're so excited just to be around each other right now. The way they’re just standing there looking into each other’s eyes with the dopiest in love smiles. I cannot. I remember thinking the break was gonna take forever to get through. What a time to be alive watching this the first time I remember. LOL

Side notes -non Chenford

Is it just me or does John have more chemistry with Genny than he does Bailey? Thought I’ve always had from this ep. Probably just me but I always thought they had solid chemistry.

Greys have a ROUGH SL in NYC.

Celina also has a hard time in the ep. With their suspect dying in custody. She has a tough rookie year.

Caroline sleeping with Klaus was a betrayal, just as much as of a betrayal as Elena getting with Damon after everything Damon did to her friends. Of course, Tyler, who was terrorized by Klaus, would be angry that Caroline slept with him. People love to bash Tyler for his reasonable reaction to finding out the woman he loves just slept with the man who killed his mom. People defend Caroline for sleeping with Klaus (which fine - she can sleep with anyone she wants), but at the same time, Tyler had every reason to react badly to the news.

I hate that people bash Tyler for slut-shaming Caroline but go on to applaud Caroline for doing the same thing to every other women on the show. And I find it really telling that many of Caroline/Klaus shippers are the same people who will call Hayley a wereslut, will refer to Cami as a dumb bimbo, and will label Aurora as a crazy whore. So it’s awful for Tyler to slut-shame Caroline, but she’s so iconic, powerful, and a girl boss for doing the same thing to every other girl on the show.

And this isn’t me defending Tyler or praising him. I don’t like Tyler, especially after what he did to Vicki. But even I got to admit, he reacted to Caroline and Klaus like how many people would.

It's crazy because Tyler didn't even slut-shame Caroline, he was just rightfully angry and repeatedly told her to respect his boundaries and get out of his house, but Caroline's hurt ego was always stronger than what people wanted her to do.

Caroline slept with the same man who murdered Jenna, Elena, Tyler and Carol, and who nearly assaulted her just because she felt attracted to him and wanted him to fuck her. Then, once Tyler found out and didn't react the way she wanted him to, she literally told him to get over it or to get out of her life. She told him to get over the fact she slept with his mother's killer, or he would have to leave her life.

Caroline is the biggest slut-shamer in the show and I wouldn't have minded to see Tyler slut-shame her for once, because this girl did it to literally everyone she was jealous of.

Her fans (klaroline fans, to be honest) are so weird about it too. If Rebekah had killed Liz and Tyler had slept with her, the fandom would absolutely drag him, even more than they already do.

Well, it guess it's karma her husband, ex boyfriend and the guy she liked because he sent her money sometimes are all dead. But knowing Caroline, she'll just find someone else eventually, she was constantly dating and she is immortal, after all.

How Did Zuko Know Sokka’s Name? (Hear Me Out)

To preface this: it’s been a long-standing observation by the fandom that Zuko doesn’t seem to be very good at remembering names. This is evidenced by how Iroh is always needing to introduce Zuko to people and their ranks and how even after chasing the Gaang for nearly a year, Zuko doesn’t know any of their names. Not even Appa whom he had a wanted poster for.

No, really. When Zuko first joins the Gaang, he doesn’t know their names. He only calls Aang “the Avatar” until someone else calls him Aang. He calls Appa “The Avatar’s bison”. He calls Katara “your sister” until Sokka says her name, and only then does Zuko say Katara. He never says Toph’s name at all for the entire show, only calling her “you”. Some fans even theorize that this is the reason Zuko awkwardly introduced himself the way he did with “Hello, Zuko here”, as if this was an attempt to prompt the others into introducing themselves in return. He really doesn’t seem to know their names.

None, that is, except Sokka.

And this is weird, right? Out of the original trio, Zuko had the least meaningful interaction with Sokka. Zuko battles Katara and Aang 1 in 1 multiple times, kidnaps them on different occasions, has private conversations with them.

So of all people why is Sokka the one whose name Zuko knows? Before Zukka shippers jump in, this isn’t that kind of post. All due respect, this is not a Zuko shipping theory. Onwards!

Zuko may be terrible with names, but you know who isn’t? Azula. Azula who we witness has such a strong understanding of her opponents and a ruthless attention to detail that she is able to use their vulnerabilities against them.

And who else hangs around with Azula who has a huge crush on Sokka? Ty Lee. We know Ty Lee must’ve talked to Azula about Sokka, not only because Ty Lee mentions how cute Sokka is multiple times, but because Azula knew that Sokka was dating Suki. We see this in the Day of Black Sun when Azula uses Suki to override Sokka’s reason and stall him from getting to Ozai.

Where did Azula find out Sokka had a thing with Suki? It could’ve only been from Ty Lee, whom Sokka overtly told in Ba Sing Se “I’m kinda involved with Suki!”

So we’ve established that Ty Lee and Azula discussed Sokka. What does this tell us?

Well we also know that “girl talk” is something Azula and Ty Lee engage in together. They collaborate on how to win over boys in “The Beach” and are shown whispering and giggling even in childhood about Mai’s crush on Zuko.

Imagine the situation from Zuko’s perspective. He’s trapped on a ship sailing to the Fire Nation, and later to and from Ember Island, with nothing to do except listen to his sister and Ty Lee gossip for hours about that hot Water Tribe boy Sokka.

Imagine his shock and horror upon introducing himself to the Gaang only to realize he doesn’t know a single one of their names… except Sokka and his allegedly magnum dong.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I think you’re projecting onto Fizz a lot regarding the whole “he needs to go back to the circus” thing. Like I don’t know you, I don’t know your story, but it’s something that’s not really a part of Fizz’s story at all in canon. He’s moved on. That doesn’t mean he can’t interact with anyone other than Ozzie ever again (some fans make them WAY too codependent). But I don’t think it’s healthy for him/you to dwell on that.

There’s no “right way” to say something as rude and silly as this to somebody, because I have a headcanon or theory about a show that you don’t like, lol? Are you trying to embarrass me into shutting up?

I cant get to the bottom of why the fandom wants to pretend that he isn’t from that place, you want to pretend it never happened and is never mentioned again. Ever. Why? Is he too clean for such a dirty past of poverty? Do you not want to see him have a single positive connection to his past. Or did it all mean nothing and Ozzie fixed it all. Maybe I don’t know your story but could you be running from your past, hiding from the people from it, and projecting onto fizz 🙃/j

Another case of ‘arguing against something I didn’t say’ disease…that’s one thing that infuruates me.

I dont want him to go back to them forever and to leave Asmodeus and move in with them💀 I want him to have conversations with the people who for all intents and purposes, are his family. So we can see what the dynamic was like and how it changed. Hell, even if it’s Cash Buckzos funeral and we see the whole troupe reunited and talking to each other for the event. Then getting into it about who all his money should go to, cause the twins don’t want it, or something. Loonas family/parents also left her. That doesn’t mean we should never see a scene where she meets them and speaks to them.

Just look at these characters from the past. Five jester clowns who look almost exactly like Fizz does now. The difference is their hats have the original logo, fizz has a heart. Hey, maybe he still keeps one of his jester hats with the old logo on it which he keeps hidden away in the back of the wardrobe, gathering dust, but he doesn’t toss it out. Like you seem to think he should. Because not every memory is bad, and that’s ok. Pretending you don’t have a past and don’t have any relatives or memories, that is what’s unhealthy anon.

Isn’t there a part of you that would be interested to see him finally not feel like he’s completely out of place and feel like he’s one of them and they aren’t lost forever like he thought? He keeps saying how much he’s lost, over and over in Oops and his song. And in Mammons, it’s painfully obvious that him losing his entire home family and life in a horrible accident, is what makes him so afraid to “lose” (—it all again) The second life he built. You’re acting like he’s not lost anything. And isn’t even traumatised anymore cause he has Ozzie. Cause uh, lemme tell you that’s not how trauma works.

Wouldnt it be nice. Just once. For there to be a typical family moment where he’s mistaken for and called by one of their names by accident? And he laughs and is happy, because that’s not something that ever happens? He doesn’t feel like he sticks out so much? Heck I ship him with Blitzø and I’d never want for Blitzø to be the one and only person who ever mattered to him back then. That’d be strangely isolating. Acting like he has no past kills his story.

You guys are really…really weird and defensive about me wanting him to talk about his past, look back on it, actually show us him mourning it even. It’s not going to threaten fizzarozzie. Calm down. You’re literally pretending where he grew up, where he was injured, and who raised him from a child isn’t an important part of his story. Only Asmodeus is?? Wtf. That’s actually ridiculous. Do you also never want Barbie or Blitzø to ever ever dare speak of it again? Cause it isnt part of their story?

I feel like Michael has been showing how done with it he is since he started making a point to look as miserable as possible with her and to make it more blatant, how glowing he looked with DT instead. I also feel like that photoshoot was meant to be the beginning of finding her a career so they can end her bearding one. So she has some career so she isn’t dependant on him anymore. But that didn’t work out so she started clinging to him again. It’s a sad situation for everyone. I’d never want to have anyone this dependent on me so I can’t get rid of them, and I’d never want to be a woman this dependant on a man.

That thread is disgusting. Not only half of them have zero idea wtf they’re talking about, like usual on Twitter, but the absolute disgust leaking from it is pure homophobia. The same people feel like they can squeak over everything the ladies do, and can ask about those relationships, but anything about the men deserves disgust and how embarrassing it is. It’s fucked up. I am against asking questions like this but it wasn’t THAT bad, and I hardly blame the person who asked considering they asked AL who will respond with crap like “oh my loud parrot was a preparation for dating MS” yeah you know what, ask her whatever you want. She’s embarrassing. Besides 1. She didn’t need to answer. 2. That wasn’t a back off face, they’re just projecting their feelings yet again. It was a confused/thinking about it and then “hm” as she looked away. Like her reaction was actually quite funny because it looked like a “oh fuck he does” realisation. No need to project all feelings of hatred on it.

They literally told everyone they’re one big family and DT and MS are partners/boyfriends/husbands - if people think it’s disgusting then that’s something they have to deal with. I don’t think any of these people have the mental capacity to consider poly or anything but most typical relationships out there. Which is so ironic because this is supposed to be super open minded fandom… yet they freak the second someone says so I think two men might love each other. Please.

I always felt a little “huh” about that moment because of how serious he is during that. Not the usual joke way you would expect but a borderline statement. There’s so many moments during those years where you expect them to take the piss out of each other but they’re really serious about what they say.

I think it’s kind of looking up to her because GT does it at least a little better than her. GT does a lot of questionable things to me but majority of people just see the perfect image she created on the surface. She worked very hard for people to forget how fucked up the beginnings of this relationship were and now feels confident enough to call her kids drunk accidents and get away with it. But that is the fandom’s fault who sucks up everything she says and won’t dare to criticise. And she knows that. Well until she finally touched a subject that struck the nerve but while some chased her off, others were screaming queen you can do no wrong - see this is why they think they can do bare minimum and people will suck it up anyway.

But you’re right, generally her arrangement with DT works better (mostly, because she posted a video where he was complaining too, or pics where he’s done with everything, or her weird selfies where she looks into camera and he’s suppose to be cuddling to her which always gives me the cringe, or the “mine” even though the night was about him) and she’s better at support when she feels like it hence probably why people have more warmth for her. Majority of people just want DT content and they don’t care how or what it is.

But generally people who see through bullshit point out both GTs and ALs missteps. And MS and DT when they do some dumb shit. It’s the best fans who won’t dare to criticise anything.

To me it looks like MS is harder work because he’s done with shit so he won’t be pulling cute selfies etc to help the bullshit. But DT is easier to make feel guilty (omg I want to be my wife for a day to see how she deals with me… bruh you ok?) so he will do a stupid Morrisons video, take selfies and cling to her like he’s less than her on HIS big days. And constantly work his ass off to finally have her accomplish something instead of finally giving up. It’s weird and sad to me. And explains why he shines so much with MS who actually lets him be who he is and compliments him and loves him openly instead of trying to make him feel less.

Oh yeah season three will be a nepo show, big time!

One of the reasons I really don’t engage much with fandom spaces at all these days is just how much casual ableism there is in fandom spaces, a lot of which is internalized ableism. And unfortunately, when you try to explain this to people, they often don’t want to hear it or accept that the ideas they’ve latched onto are actually often pretty harmful to people in the real world.

An example, one of many: people have had theories on N being a Zoroark since Black and White first came out in 2010. That was ableist then, and it’s ableist now - the changeling myth is thought to be rooted in children turning out to be neurodivergent (especially autistic), and if you’re looking at a human character that feels neurodivergent-coded and going “What if they’re not human?” it’s...well, neurodivergent people are already dehumanized in the real world. We’re so often treated as less than human that having a character who comes across as neurodivergent suddenly being not human can feel like a slap in the face to our own humanity.

(Ironically, neurodivergent people often found representation in non-human characters before human characters with neurodivergent traits started popping up in media - this goes back at least to the half-human, half-Vulcan Spock in Star Trek, and possibly far, far further. But that’s a topic for another time.)

Every time I see a character who feels pretty damn neurodivergent, I also see a wide chunk of the fandom interpret their neurodivergent traits really negatively, and it hurts. I don’t engage with the Submas fandom anymore outside of answering people’s train questions that they bring to me because enough people in said fandom looked at Emmet, a character who is more like me than any other fictional character I’ve ever seen in my life, and decided he was scary and unhinged, creepy because of the way he talks when he isn’t close to someone, potentially violent because of his intensity. He’s none of these things, he’s just one of the most autistic characters to ever be written. But the damage was done, because when I saw people treating a character just like me like that...well, it basically told me how they saw me, too.

I graduated high school way, way back in 2007. Some of the people on this website now weren’t alive back then. I wouldn’t get my autism diagnosis for two more years, and all I knew was that I was somehow different from the kids around me, and so many of them had bullied me for this. I was treated horribly because I was intense about my interests, talked differently, walked differently, and acted differently from them. It more or less went on for my entire time in school before I got to undergrad. That shit stays with you. I had this notion that this was how everyone saw me, and that still sits in the back of my mind in my 30s. It’s actually one of the things that prevents me from trying dating, because my bullies were primarily my male peers growing up. It was so important for me to see Ingo and Emmet being themselves and being accepted as themselves, because it meant that maybe people could accept me, too. Except then PLA dropped, and a bunch of new people came rushing in...and enough of them reacted in ways similar to how my bullies did when I was younger, so I had to disengage because it hurt too much.

And the cycle continues with every new character that takes the stage. Nemona debuted in Scarlet and Violet, and once you get more of her backstory in the later game and eventually the postgame you realize she sounds like a neurodivergent person surrounded by neurotypicals. I’ve seen headcanons of autism, ADHD, and a few other neurodivergencies, all of which were definitely people relating to her experiences with their own - Geeta even introduces the “weird girl” to the “new kid” at the beginning of the game in the hopes that she’ll make a friend, a common experience for neurodivergent kids growing up. But then I started seeing people calling her a yandere, and they weren’t joking, and I knew that people who related to Nemona who saw that were going to feel hurt the way I did with people taking Emmet’s autistic traits so negatively.

Fandom spaces tend to be online bubbles, so to speak, and people don’t often realize the impact that these attitudes have in the real world. It’s important for people to have representation and see themselves in the media they interact with, because that’s extremely affirming and validating. Seeing a fictional character just like you being accepted for who they are goes a long, long way when you’re being bullied for who you are in your real life. When you see a bunch of people looking at those harmless traits of yours that people bully you for and interpret them in ways that portray you as scary, creepy, or even unhinged and dangerous...it does damage.

I think about people with psychosis. I think about how media has portrayed them throughout the ages, and how stigmatized they are as a result. I think about people with personality disorders, about people with OCD (of which I’m one myself), about autistic people and ADHD people and people with Tourette’s and other tic disorders, about plural people/systems...the list can go on, and on, and on, and this post doesn’t even touch upon physical disabilities and how ableist fandom spaces can be to them, too (cons being physically difficult to navigate are just one challenge of many they face). I think about how desperate we’ve all been to see ourselves as characters - nuanced characters that feel like real people, not caricatures. The days of the “evil, unhinged schizophrenic” need to be over. We know people with disabilities and mental illnesses are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators; we have so many studies affirming this. And yet the rest of the world is taking a long time to catch up on this.

Sometimes, you’re 12 years old and you make an edgy OC who wears a straitjacket because they like to stab people, and then you get a little older and you realize that was pretty ableist and you grow and change as a person. That’s normal - you’re learning about the world around you and learning how to be more kind. But if someone who’s out there in the real world explains why something is ableist towards their disability or mental illness, and they provide examples, that’s not the moment you double down and act like you can do no wrong and that everything you’ve written is fine. It’s supposed to be a learning moment for you, a chance to step back and try to do better. And this especially applies to internalized ableism - like I said, so many fandom spaces are heavily neurodivergent, and the internalized ableism I’ve encountered in fandom spaces has grown substantially with the rise of social media. Sometimes the call is coming from inside the house, and we need to be mindful of how we’re portraying people like ourselves, too.

I think it’s a good idea to really try to be aware as we engage with others in fandom spaces and try not to perpetrate harmful stereotypes or portrayals, and becoming more thoughtful and nuanced about how we depict characters is a big part of that. If you’re writing something edgy just for yourself, that’s for you, and you don’t really have to think too hard about it. But if you’re sharing it in a public space, remember that anyone can encounter it, and it might do damage you’re not really thinking about. It’s important to remember that the internet is a public space, too, just like the places we go in real life, and that we should carry ourselves the way we would if we were interacting in person - we need to try to be respectful, and accept feedback and improve things when we accidentally aren’t.

Who I initially thought my Favorite RWBY characters would be vs Who my favorite characters actually are (yes i lurk in fandoms before joining them)

Neopolitan (who i thought would be my fave)

I initially thought Neopolitan would be my favorite character based on how much love the fandom had for her. Turns out she barely showed up and and doesn’t even have a single line of dialogue 😭 (which is fine if its done well……) Her design is still really cool though.

Tyrian Callows (My Actual Fave)

Upong first seeing Tyrian In the intro i thought I would hate him. His smile creeped me the hell out and I thought he looked musty and like he didn’t wear deodorant 😭 That all changed when he was introduced,he just ended up stealing the show for me.

Anyways, i love and simp for this deranged man and that’s why he’s my #1 (only downside is he doesn’t get much screen-time)

Cinder Fall (Who I thought would be a Fave)

Based on what the fandom said about Cinder i thought i would love her as I have a thing for female villians and characters hated in a fandom. But it turns out, I don’t really like her that much. i find Cinder to be kind of annoying actually. (I think I’d like her more if she didn’t constantly get her butt kicked whenever she was on screen)

Jaune Arc (My actual fave)

I thought I’d hate Jaune at first honestly 😭 since alot of the fandom liked to call him a “self insert” and “annoying white boy”. Turns out Jaune is just a sweet and good hearted Himbo, he’s very wholesome and I love him.

Ruby Rose (who I thought would be a fave)

I actually do love Ruby ( I love all the girls) but she isn’t in my top 5 so i decided to include her. I just thought Ruby would be a favorite of mine based on her design alone, that’s literally it. (her original outfit specifically)

Salem (my actual fave)

Before I watched RWBY i watched Youtube videos about it beforehand and one of the vidoes I watched (cant remember the name) was basically ranting about how Salem was a shit villian and a characer. So i fully went into the show thinking I wouldn’t like her.

Turns out, I greatly enjoy her backstory and she quickly became one of my favorite characters. I’m a mami salami lover until I die.

Qrow (Who I thought would be a fave)

I took one look at this man, saw that he was a dilf and thought “yeah he’ll definitely be my fave” but it didn’t end up that way 😭 (I do love Qrow tho)

Ozpin (my actual fave)

I honestly thought Ozpin was boring at first. (Like he is just the headmaster of a school 🙄) But it turns out he was secretly a reincarnating wizard the entire time. The Lost Fable actually made him interesting and a favorite character of mine. (which is weird because a lot of YouTubers and RWDE people hate the lost fable and seem to think it ruined his character)

Penny Polendina (who I thought would be my fave)

I love Penny. However, she’s in the same boat as Ruby. I thought she would be my favorite character based on her design alone. While her design is really pretty, and she’s a sweet person, she doesn’t really interest me as a character.

Oscar Pine (My actual fave)

When I first saw Oscar, I actively didn’t like him (like, are you telling me Oz is going to be this child?). Now I love him, he’s my precious child, and he means everything to me

So Félix was a villan turned into a protagonist in the 2014 brazilian telenovela called "Amor à Vida" (Trail of lies in english releses), Félix is from the rich medical Khoury family (they have a rich people hospital) and he has a lot of issuies because his dad hates him and very clearly loves his sister (paloma, the actual protagonist of the novela) more and his dad is homophobic and he is his mother's favorite so after paloma abandons medical school and Félix sees a chance of getting the hospital he is very happy but then while paloma is in her hippie lifestyle she gets pregnent and gives birth to a babygirl in a dirty bar and the only one that saw her birthing the baby and helped her with it was Félix and Félix seeing that a grandaughter from the favorite child you get him to lose the little live he his father has for him, he does a very sane thing and trows the baby into a trash can, years in the future he is married with a woman and has a preeten/teenager son and he cheats on her constantly with other men

Then the true of this henious action and was disoned by his father BUT brazilian people simplily LOVED Félix and could't get ENOUGH of him and they thought paloma was too boring so the author made a redenption arc for Félix (were he gets poor and sells hot dogs in the street for a living) and he gets a love interest, niko, a chef that was cheated by his husband with their best friend and almost lost his baby for the surrogacy mother (the same woman that cheated with his husband) after a bunch of telenovela shenanigans heppen they get together and do the first gay kiss in a "noble" time sloth and Félix gets a happy ending with Niko and his dad finaly accepting him (its very touching)

So what i want to say is that q!cellbit is very similar to Félix in therms of personality (but a kinder, better dad, dirty and pathetic version of felix) and the trajectory of a gay villan turned into a VERY beloved protagonist by the brazilian public is also similar

Happy Saturday fandom :) Already onto episode 2. We get to see some new challenges for Tim and lots of work flirts because well it’s s4. These two are emotionally dating whether they realize it or not haha. Not a ton in this ep for them but just enough goodies possible with them riding apart. Off we go.

4x02 Five Minutes

We start our ep off with Nolan helping out with paint samples. Tamara has moved in (yay I love this) and they’re trying to decide what color. Tamara says she doesn’t care it’s Lucy's apt. Seemingly resigned at this point. Lucy doesn’t agree and says it’s her room though. Tamara says it’s not hers it’s…she trails off before mentioning Jackson's name. Lucy realizes this and cuts it off before she gets emotional. My heart. Nolan tells her they have to get ready for work.

They leave Tamara's room and Lucy asks John if they’re being silly about the color? That they're taking this long to pick one out? He’s says it’s not 'We' but her. Lucy gives him a look. She knows what he's implying but isn’t ready to talk about it yet. So she hands him his bag instead. She notes it’s super heavy. Asking what’s in it? Apparently Tim gave him ton of books to read for being a T.O. Nolan asks if it’s weird for her Tim's not a T.O. anymore?

Lucy acting all civil and grown up or trying to. Saying no he’s moving on with his career. So will she. I mean deep down she's gotta be happy with the fact that she was the last rookie he trained fully. End on a high note and all that. That high note being her. She continues on that she hadn't even thought of him being a rookie Sergeant. The look on her face betraying her words. She's failing terribly at containing her excitement at what she's done haha

As we can see in this next scene Lucy is a lying liar who lies. We cut to Tim looking fine af in a TIGHT red t-shirt. Sweet baby James those guns should be illegal. Look at his bicep as he opens that locker. My god. Walking thirst trap and I'm here for it. He’s all happy walking up to his locker. Then he opens it and finds her note with a bunch of small boots LOL It’s amazing and glorious. His face kills me. I love her knowing the combination to his lock in first place to plant these. Ahh the work flirts between these two never cease to amaze. Pranking is one of their love languages hehe

Tim enters Grey’s office to officially get his Sergeant’s badge for Mid Wilshire. He’s so excited it's adorable to watch. Telling Grey he won’t let him down. Wade says he will. Tim looks crushed poor love. Grey telling him he’s going to fail just as much as he succeeds. Interesting to watch Tim stumble off the blocks a bit with this. The entire episode is him feeling out being a Sergeant for the first time. Naturally he’s a little cocky. He's always puffing his chest out more around others that aren't Lucy heh

Tim is thinking he can just apply his T.O. Tactics to this and Wade isn’t about it. The little wink above. Have mercy sir ... Learned all that sass from being around his girl haha Grey is not amused. Tells him he can easily remove those strips HA I love it. So much growth to be had in this new role of his. Always love watching him stretch himself. Grey tells Tim he’s going to be leading roll call today. He is so amped. I love this sfm.

Grey announces Tim being the station's newest sergeant and Lucy is aglow with pride. Look at her. She is so damn excited and proud of him. She's been on this journey with him since day one. Ready to make a big deal and celebrate him. Even when he won’t. Especially when he won’t. This reaction is proud wifey status right here. Her pre clap is so cute. She is ready to celebrate him and his achievement before anyone else is. Lucy notice's no one else is as excited as her and has to rein herself back in LOL The minute it's announced she is filled with pride and glee. It's written all over her body language and her need to want to clap for him before it's time. You know he made eye contact with her for that little smirk. I love them.

Also let’s talk about the heart eyes/little eye sex Lucy is giving Tim during his first roll call he's leading Look at her in the beginning. Keep it in your pants Officer Chen LMAO You are in public madam. Tim is shocking everyone but Lucy with his rant. Just a normal day for her when he talks like this. It's too funny. He is shocking everyone else though. Even Grey is thrown back by his words. Not his girl though. There’s nothing he can say that’ll throw her. Look at her smile as she leaves the roll call room. She is bemused he just went on a 'Tim Rant' in his first roll call. I love it so much.

We rejoin Lucy with Nolan in their shop. She is asking about wallpaper and what he thinks? Nolan pokes the bear one more time. Saying she’s the most insightful person he knows. Lucy has to see why she is delaying picking out a color. That Tamara can never accept the room as her's till Lucy moves on from it being Jackson’s. Before she can answer a car races by them. They pull them over immediately.

Nolan asks if he can practice being a T.O. With her? Lucy gives him some crap then says yeah show me what you got. He calls her boot and lives to regret it so very much. I love the absolute sass in her body language alone. Like you best walk that back LOL She barely let Tim call her that let alone you Nolan haha

Grey and Tim are riding together today. Wade going over not arriving to a scene right away. How it hurts the officer's confidence when you do. You can see Tim squirming in his seat with all this haha It's the very opposite of being a training officer. This is where this position makes him grow. It’s forcing him to do things he normally wouldn’t. Honestly riding with Lucy prepped him for this in a way he doesn’t understand just yet. Taught him all the things he needs to be a good supervisor.

Doesn’t mean he won’t have growing pains along the way though LOL Before he can reply Nolan contacts them about the driver he’s pulled over. Nolan ran her ID and finds out she is a white whale. Claire Ivy. Been suspected in multiple heists dating back 20 years. How Lopez almost caught her in 2016. Grey tells him to cite her and let her go. To inform her she’s on their radar though. To leave town ASAP.

Nolan returns to Lucy and Claire. She is a complete bad ass. Not taking Nolan’s warnings seriously at all. She even winks at Lucy before taking off. Nolan asking her what she thinks? Lucy having the funniest reply. Saying she has a girl crush haha I love Lucy so much.

Tim and Wade show up to Nyla’s scene. Her first call with Aaron is a murder. Grey asks her where her rookie is? She point to him on the sidewalk sitting. Looking pretty shaken up. Tim asks if he puked with a smile. Heh you’re terrible you handsome devil. She says yes but it’s more than the gore. That he was having some PTSD. Then tells Grey it’s almost like he shouldn’t be a cop…. Harper was so harsh with Aaron in the beginning. Grey notes it’s a good thing he has the best T.O. In the business to help him then.

Tim needing to give Nyla a hard time says his line above. I love the constant teasing between these two. It’s so funny and a delight to watch how they’ve developed. Her face is everything haha The rivalry between them is the absolute best. Wade tells Tim to stay on task.... Tim tries to canvass and Grey stops him. Saying he’s there to supervise not canvas. Poor Tim its a default gear for him. So he tells Harper to take her rookie and do as such. She gives him a smile saying 'Yes sir.' hehe

Lucy gets home and has a heart to heart with Tamara. She knows she can't avoid having it any longer. It makes me emotional to watch Lucy struggle with talking about him. Then Tamara gets emotional as well. Getting me right in the feels ladies. Lucy apologizing for being so manic about the color. That when they do this it'll make all this real. Even months later she will have to face that fact that he's never coming home to this room. Which is rough for both of them to deal with. I mean Tamara is feeling guilt for even taking the room let alone altering it. Lucy is struggling changing it as well for her own reasons.

Tamara feeling hesitant to make it her own. Because anytime she changes anything feels like she erasing him. Ugh my heart. This is such a good scene for them though. I love Lucy telling her Jackson would’ve loved her staying here. He would've wanted something good to come out of this. This is Lucy’s official moving on moment. Not letting this weigh her down any longer. So Tamara too can move on and not feel guilty making this room her own. Guess Nolan was right. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile eh?

We find Lucy and Nolan next day camping outside Claire's hotel. They're talking about his date with Bailey and her breaking up with him via text. Before they delve any further Tim calls in asking for a status update. Lucy lets him know no activity on their end but what about the rest of her team? I love this mini moment of theirs. Their banter over the radio. Them talking this situation out. Like Nolan isn’t even there. Theorizing together like they’re in the same car. Their work chemistry isn't missing a beat in this scene. Also lets admire his bicep in this scene. Straining against that sleeve.*fans self* It's like he wants me to comment like this LMFAO

Tim telling Lucy his thoughts is my fav part. Being vulnerable with her saying he’s nervous. Only Lucy gets this side of him even when they’re not in the same space I love it sfm. There is growth in this moment. Normally he would just say or direct an OP like this. Wouldn’t need anyone else’s input. But now he’s post-Lucy being his rookie. We see the impact she’s had on him. How he’s relying on her thoughts and relaying his own. Doesn’t seem like a big moment in grand scheme of things. When we know the cuteness at the end of this episode. But I love underrated moments and this is one of them.

Grey finds out Tim was apart of the OP who took down Claire and her team. He is none too happy about it. Tim is confused saying he used his skills in the best way possible. Wade calls him out for it. Telling him no. He just couldn’t trust anyone else to get it done right. That control freaks don’t make good sergeants. It’s a rough first go for Tim. He has a lot to learn about stepping back and his need to control. To trust those around him. It’s something we will see him grow in this season.

But we can’t appreciate such growth unless we see him start at square one. Just like with S1 Tim. If we didn’t see him at his lowest how could we truly appreciate the depth of his growth when it happened? It’s the same with his new role as sergeant. He does stand his ground saying he needs to find his own way as a sergeant. He asks Grey if there is anything else? He adds on praise is important. An 'Atta-Boy' from the boss goes a long way.

Lucy is trying to sneak more booties into Tim’s locker when he catches her. Tim acting like he’s shocked but I don’t think he really is haha Asking her what she's doing? Lucy telling him how she’s paying him back. That word haunts her LOL She has to remind him he is a 'Boot' now. Getting immense joy out of teasing him. They are so married in this scene it’s unreal. Naturally he has to chastise her doing the same prank twice. Wouldn’t be him if he didn’t. His way of flirting right back. These two idiots in love.

Lucy hands him the booties and says she’s going to leave him to it then. Not expecting more out of this moment than this mini banter. Tim doesn’t let her get too far before giving her that compliment. He's so uncomfortable about saying it you know she is soaking this up. Enjoying him being uncomfortable so much.

Lucy is also stunned he’s giving her praise so freely when he finally gets it out. Her face says everything about her disbelief. Tim sees it instantly and tells her Grey suggested he do so. Like it's such a hardship to praise her like this heh. Lucy seeing he’s trying to grow and thanks him with that cocky smirk we know he loves so much.

Although Lucy can’t pass up the opportunity to push his buttons. Has to see if she can’t get him to spill more since he is in a sharing mood. About her specifically of course haha One of her love languages is receiving those words of affirmation and praise from him. She laps it up like a thirsty dog hehe She’s comfortable enough ‘Push her luck’ as Tim states above. Tim of course stops Lucy in her tracks. Knowing exactly what she is up to.

I love her awkward exit when she knows she has pressed her luck. The pointing and backing out is so adorable I can not stand it. We know he loves her goofy dorkiness. It's that dorky sunshine he falls in love with in the first place. You know he misses riding with her so much in this moment. He holds his ‘serious’ face till she leaves. Shakes his head so bemused by her actions.

Then when she’s out of sight his true colors come into play. Look at this man. Tim looks down at the boots with a happy smirk. He is so smitten and happy she did this prank. Why you ask? Because it meant she was thinking of him. Thought of his special day and did something to commemorate it. You know he actually loves how thoughtful she is. How she always makes him #1. Makes him feel like he’s #1 in her book. Something that is so very foreign to him.

Just like Lucy adores his praise. He soaks up her affection and putting him and his accomplishments on the front burner. Never lets Tim pass by with anything less than a Lucy worthy celebration. Like I said earlier pranking is a love language of their's. This is her way of saying she cares. Does it in a way he can handle but knows her intention. Tim has never had someone like her before. He is very smitten and that wall of his is damn near rubble at this point. We’re not there yet but it’s on it's way to utter ruin. Thank you Lucy Chen haha

Tamara finally finishes up her room. She’s nervous to show Lucy. It’s so cute. I love what she did with it. So very her and I love it. Lucy giving her stamp approval is just what she needed. This is such a cute moment. I love their chosen sisterhood so much. Gives me warm fuzzies for days. How far they’ve come from Tamara stealing Lucy’s car heh Tamara finally having her own safe space and having it with Lucy is the best part.

Cute little episode for them as we enter full into this season. I always love when we get little work flirts with them. They’re dating and have idea about and that’s the best part of the the whole dynamic.

The introduction of Aaron. I wasn’t sure about him at first but ended up adoring him. He won me over fairly quickly.

Wes and Angela spending the only time Jack sleeps theorizing about Aaron’s case instead of sleeping LOL I love them sfm.

The eighth time he confessed was during the summer of their third year — at the firework festival.

It was ironic. Chiyo remembered turning Nishinoya down relatively harshly when he asked her to go almost three summers ago. But when he asked her out during one of their summer homework cram sessions at a local cafe this year, for some reason she felt compelled to say yes.

Her father teased her, asking if the outing was a date – to which Chiyo vehemently denied. Though deep down, she wasn’t quite sure. Nishinoya had gotten so excited and cheered so loudly when she agreed to his invitation, she didn’t have the time to ask for his intentions.

Or perhaps she did but simply lacked the nerves.

Either way, she took the day off work and got all dolled up in the red and gold floral-print yukata she received from her aunt and uncle as a birthday gift earlier that year. She even called up Honoka and asked her to come over to do her hair, to which the aspiring hairstylist agreed on the condition that she got all the details about this ‘date-but-not-a-date.’

She couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as she made her way toward the temple. She wondered if she looked nearly as pretty as the group of teenage girls walking not far in front of her. Perhaps she looked weird in the yukata, perhaps her hair had somehow gotten messy on the walk over, or perhaps her lip gloss had accidentally smudged due to how many times she pressed her lips together.

But all those worries melted away when she locked eyes with Nishinoya at their meet-up spot. Maybe it was just the festival lights, but his cheeks seemed to grow a little redder at the sight of her.

“Hey,” he pushed off the sidewalk pole he was leaning against. He too wore a cream-coloured yukata, decorated with dragon prints outlined in maroon. He eyed her from head to toe, looking like he was at a loss for words for the first time in his life. “Wow, you look… great.”

“You think?” Chiyo murmured and Nishinoya nodded vigorously.

“Yeah! I mean you always look great, but the traditional clothes are a nice touch.”

Tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ear, Chiyo smiled. “Thanks.”

Nishinoya stared for a few seconds longer. It wasn’t long enough to be considered rude or creepy, but just long enough to let Chiyo know that he genuinely appreciated her outfit. Eventually, he clapped his hands together and turned towards the lines of festival stands. “Alright, let’s get going,” he said. “The festival isn’t gonna last all night.”

“Mhm,” holding her kimono purse with both hands, Chiyo was about to follow him down the path when Nishinoya suddenly paused.

“Oh, right!” He turned back towards her and extended his hand. “Here!”

Chiyo blinked.

“So we don't get separated, you know?” Nishinoya said.

That was a lie. Karasuno was a relatively small town, even by Miyagi’s standards. And while the firework festival was a hot gathering spot for most of its citizens, it was still difficult to get lost or separated that easily.

Chiyo knew that. She did, but she still chose to gently place her hand in Nishinoya’s open palm. She could feel her face burning as her blue eyes flickered between the ground and his wide-eyed expression.

“It’s…” She pressed her lips together. “It’s just so we don’t get separated… Okay?”

Nishinoya was flabbergasted for a moment. Perhaps he had expected her to turn him down, to swat his hand away like she always did. But when the initial shock wore off, an eager grin spread across his cheeks.

“Of course,” Nishinoya laughed, tugging her along. “Come on, I wanna get some yakisoba.”

Usually, the main temple of Karasuno city was relatively quiet, save for the occasional wedding. But for one night each summer, the area would truly come to life as families and friends gathered to celebrate the local shrine’s deity. Various food stands and game stations lined the sides of the path and traditional music played through the mini speakers.

Underneath the strung-up wax paper lanterns, Chiyo walked alongside Nishinoya, peering down at the bite she took out of her crimson candied apple.

“Is it good?” He asked, now wearing a white kitsune mask over his forehead.

“Yeah,” Chiyo nodded. “It’s just been a while since I’ve had one. Hotaru used to love these when she was little.”

“Really? I’m more of a chocolate banana guy myself,” Nishinoya hummed. “Hey, what time do the fireworks start again?”

“Seven-thirty, I think,” she checked her phone. “We still have a little more time. Is there something you want to do?”

“I wanna go to the shooting gallery!”

Chiyo raised an eyebrow. She looked around, trying her best to spot one with no avail. “I think I saw one a little further back there,” she said, pointing her sweet treat behind herself. “Do you wanna go?”

“Perfect!” Nishinoya’s grip on her hand tightened. “Let’s go!”

Chiyo’s eyes crinkled a little at his enthusiasm. They made a quick turn and set off in the direction they came from.

“By the way, where is your grandpa tonight?” She asked as she took another bite of her candied apple.

“He’s on a date with that uhh…” He twirled his finger in the air. “Flight attendant, I think.”

“Ah, Kasumi-san?” Chiyo said after a moment of thought, barely remembering the woman’s name from her last visit to the Nishinoya residence. “I thought she left for Thailand already.”

Nishinoya shook his head. “Nah, that’s tomorrow,” he glanced up at the velvet sky for a bit before turning his attention back to Chiyo. “What about Hotaru and Kaito? What are they doing tonight?”

“They’re with dad.”

“Oh, nice!” Nishinoya smiled. “Did Amari-san manage to get the day off?”

“Yeah, I think he took them to the library and rented a movie for the night,” Chiyo looked down at her outfit. “Honestly, it feels a little weird being here without them.”

He cocked his head to the side. “What do you mean?”

Chiyo met his gaze. “It’s just…” She began after a moment of thought. “Every summer, I would take Hotaru and Kaito to the firework festival. You know, just the three of us.”

The realization dawned on Nishinoya and he immediately stopped in his tracks. “Wait, don’t tell me I dragged you away from them or something?!”

Chiyo shook her head. “I was the one who wanted to come, Yuu. Don’t worry about it,” she looked straight ahead. “I just feel a little bad. Like I’m breaking family tradition,” she sighed. “I need to do better as their older sister.”

Nishinoya hummed. “I think you do a lot already though."

“I do?”

He nodded. “I mean you’re way more responsible than my sisters, that’s for sure.”

Chiyo blinked a few times before looking away.

“Thanks.”

After a little more walking, the shooting gallery booth came into view right as Chiyo finished her candied apple. Nishinoya’s face brightened.

“Hey! Hattori-san!” He waved at the old man sitting behind the table who wore a white tank top and straw hat.

“Well!” The old man’s eyes widened and he laughed. “If it isn’t my favorite customer. How are you, Yuu?”

“Same as always! Pretty good!”

“Good, good,” he fanned himself with a Japanese fixed fan printed with the festival logo. “And ol’ Mineo? Where’s he tonight?”

“Grandpa’s out on a date tonight, so it’s just me,” Nishinoya grinned. “Oh, but I brought a date with me too!”

He gestured to Chiyo and the redhead took it as a cue to introduce herself. “Hello,” she lowered her head, albeit a little awkwardly. “My name is Amari Chiyo.”

She couldn’t help but feel her face warm at the fact that Nishinoya referred to her as his date.

“Ain’t that nice? Yuu’s got himself a girlfriend,” the old man chuckled. “Nice to meetcha, little lady. I’m Hattori. Yuu and I go way back.”

Chiyo gave him a small nod and Nishinoya slapped a few coins down on the table.

“Hattori-san, gimme two tries.”

“You got it!”

As Hattori turned around, Chiyo leaned in.

“How did you manage to get all chummy with the shooting gallery guy?” She whispered.

“Gramps used to bring me here every summer,” Nishinoya wasn’t nearly as discreet. “He’s big into town festivals.”

“Yuu was just a little boy when we first met,” Hattori said as he handed Nishinoya an air gun “Wouldn’t stop crying til he won something.”

“I was like three, Hattori-san,” Nishinoya frowned. “And for the record, I still have that Ultraman figure. It’s on my desk at home.”

“I’m honored!”

“Ever since then, gramps always made sure to stop by whenever we come to the firework festival,” Nishinoya then turned to Chiyo. “We’d each take two turns and see who can get the most prizes. It’s kinda a tradition of ours,” he then winked. “So don’t worry ‘bout it. You’re not the only one breaking family tradition tonight.”

Chiyo’s eyes widened. She felt her heart flutter a little as Nishinoya turned to face the shooting gallery. He readied his air gun, aiming down the scope and lining it up with an action figure on the top shelf.

The first and second shots just barely missed the action figure, but the third one managed to hit the masked superhero right in the chest. It fell off the shelf and hit the ground.

“Whoo!” Nishinoya cheered.

Hattori whistled. “Nice job! You have five bullets left.”

Nishinoya then lined his scope up with a box of strawberry chocolate cones. The cork flew out and clipped the side of the box, knocking it down with a light rattle.

“You’re pretty good at this,” the redhead hummed.

“I had a lot of practice,” Nishinoya beamed proudly. “Hey, do you want something?”

Chiyo shook her head. “No, I’m good. Just get something for yourself.”

Nishinoya’s gaze lingered on her for a little longer. “Okay,” he murmured before squatting down, lowering his stance just enough to line his scope with a large cat plush toy on the bottom row.

The first shot whizzed past its ear, but the second one hit it in the left eye. The cat plush rocked back a little and Nishinoya was just about to cheer, but it quickly swayed forward and returned to an upright position.

“I hit that thing!” Nishinoya shouted. “Hey, Hattori-san! You saw it right?”

Hattori let out a hearty laugh. “You know how it goes, Yuu. Gotta knock it over for it to count. You got one shot left.”

Nishinoya frowned. He narrowed his eyes at the ginger cat plush that stood defiantly on the dark brown shelves of the shooting gallery booth. Chiyo watched as he turned back and crouched down into his previous position. He was so focused, even she began to feel a little nervous from the sidelines. It reminded her of his behavior whenever he stood on the volleyball court - calm and quiet.

He blinked a few times and shook out his hand before lining the scope up with the cat plushie once more. Nishinoya took a deep breath and finally pulled the trigger.

The cork flew out of the muzzle of the air gun, hitting the plushie on the forehead with just enough force to knock it backwards. It fell off the shelf and landed on the grass below with a soft thump.

“Alright!” Nishinoya threw his arms up in celebratory victory and Chiyo clapped.

“Good job,” she chuckled as Hattori bent down to pick up the plushie, action figure and box of chocolates.

“Gotta say, you’ve improved Yuu,” Hattori wore a big smile as he handed Nishinoya all of his prizes. “Seems like little Yuu from all those years ago ain’t that little anymore,” he teased, ruffling Nishinoya’s hair.

“You say that every year, Hattori-san,” Nishinoya laughed, accepting the brief yet affectionate gesture. “Thanks as always.”

He then turned to Chiyo and presented the stuffed animal.

“Here ya go!”

“Wait, for me?” She asked and Nishinoya nodded. “Yuu, I told you to get something for yourself.”

“And what I wanted for myself is to get something for you,” Nishinoya replied cheekily. “Come on, just take it!”

Chiyo blinked a few times before glancing down at the cat plushie in her arms. The fur was surprisingly soft, made of some kind of synthetic fibre with ginger and white stripes. Its eyes were large and green, staring at her with an expression that practically begged her to bring it home with her. She pursed her lips and cleared her throat.

“Fine,” she averted her gaze, trying to hide the redness that threatened to set her cheeks aflame. “Only because you went out of your way to win it for me.”

Nishinoya grinned. “Of course, of course.”

“Noya-san!”

Chiyo glanced over her shoulder at the voice, spotting a few familiar faces approaching from the nearby takoyaki stand.

“Oh, Ryuu!” Nishinoya waved at the boy with a shaved head and sharp eyes. “Chikara and Kazuhito too!”

Chiyo quickly recognized them as members of the volleyball team, as well as Ennoshita Chikara, who was a classmate of hers.

She gave him a small neck bow. “Good evening, Ennoshita-san.”

“Amari-san,” Ennoshita shot her a polite smile. “Nice seeing you here.”

“You too. How’s your summer been so far?”

“Pretty good,” he went along with the small talk, ignoring Nishinoya and the bald-headed boy as they made a ruckus only a few feet away. “Are you here for the taiko drum performance too?”

“The taiko drum performance?” Chiyo was a little confused.

“Tanaka’s sister performs at this festival every summer,” Ennoshita explained, briefly eyeing the bald boy. “So Narita and I came along to support them today. It’s the least we can do.”

“Saeko-neesan is super cool,” the boy with short black hair, presumably Narita, said. “She’s brought along her taiko crew to cheer us on at every competition since Spring High last year.”

“Saeko…?” Resting a hand on her chin, Chiyo thought for a moment. “Wait, is she the one with blonde hair that goes up to here?” She held her free hand just above her shoulder and both Ennoshita and Narita nodded.

“Yeah. Do you know her?”

“I don’t know her personally, but I saw her at the interhigh preliminaries this year,” Chiyo explained. “She was yelling at us to cheer louder during your match against Date Tech.”

“Speaking of which, where’s Kinnoshita?” Dropping whatever he was doing with Tanaka, Nishinoya turned to Ennoshita.

“He couldn’t make it,” Narita replied. “I think he’s in Kamakura visiting family.”

“Ah, that’s too bad.”

Ennoshita then noticed the ginger cat plushie Chiyo was carrying. He glanced at the shooting gallery they were standing by, now servicing a mother and her two children and quickly put two and two together.

“Hey, Amari-san,” he called out to her. “Are you here with Nishinoya tonight?”

“Huh?” Chiyo blinked a few times, squishing the cat plushie’s doe-eyed face further into her chest. “Erm… yeah. We’re here to watch the fireworks together.”

“Wait, seriously?!” That quickly derailed their previous conversation as Tanaka’s eyes grew wide. “You’re gonna watch the fireworks together? Like together, together? Did you finally ask her out, Noya-san?”

“Hey, that’s rude,” Nishinoya pouted. “For the record, this is our second date. We already went on our first date like a year ago,” he puffed out his chest proudly. “But yeah, I asked her out.”

“No way!” Narita’s jaw dropped.

Tanaka’s lips tightened into a thin smile that teetered the line of being scary to Chiyo. He stiffly grabbed Ennoshita and Narita by the shoulder and spun them around back towards the Takoyaki stand. “Well, if that’s the case. We won’t bother you anymore,” he said in a sing-song voice. “Come on boys, let’s go.”

Following Tanaka’s very obvious attempt to leave them alone, Ennoshita gave an awkward laugh. He then glanced back at Chiyo.

“The fireworks should be starting soon,” he told her. “You guys should go find a spot for that.”

“Ah, okay,” not knowing what else to say, Chiyo could only nod.

“See you guys!” Nishinoya waved, watching as his friends’ silhouettes disappeared into the crowd before turning to the redhead. “Alright,” he extended a hand outwards. “Let’s go! I know a spot with the best view!”

Chiyo stilled for a moment but she quickly took his hand with a sweet yet bashful smile.

“Yeah,” she chuckled. “Let’s go.”

“Thank you for waiting. The firework show will start momentarily.”

As the announcement played through the speakers, Nishinoya and Chiyo arrived at a riverbank just outside the temple. A crowd of people began to gather alongside them – families, couples and large groups of teenagers, presumably still in the early stage of high school. Chiyo watched as a group of girls much younger looking than her chatted away by the black railings.

“Yuu,” she murmured just loud enough for him to hear. “We’re gonna be graduating soon, huh?”

Nishinoya glanced at her. “Yeah,” he hummed. “How is exam prep going?”

Chiyo shrugged. “The same as always.”

“Have you decided what you wanna do?”

“I… I have a general idea but,” she met his gaze for a brief moment before looking away. “I don’t know.”

“Hey, don’t worry about it,” Nishinoya assured her. “You still have your entire life to figure it out.”

“I know…” Chiyo’s expression gave way to a half-hearted smile. “I know that. But it’s just… scary. I thought I had my entire life figured out. I wanted to set a good example for Hotaru and Kaito,” she let out a half-hearted laugh. “But turns out I didn’t and I feel like I’ve let everyone down.”

It was subtle, but Nishinoya’s grip on her hand tightened ever-so-slightly. “There’s nothing wrong with not knowing,” he said. “Not everyone’s gonna know what they wanna do the second they graduate high school. If anything, I think not knowing and pushing forward makes you even more admirable.”

Though there was still a lingering sourness in her expression, Chiyo smiled. “Thanks,” she whispered. “For everything.”

“Of course! I’m always in your corner, no matter what,” he grinned cheekily. “Even if you’re a baby-eater.”

“A baby-eater?” Chiyo raised an eyebrow. “Where did that come from?”

“You! It came from you,” Nishinoya laughed. “You said that when we first met!”

“Did I?” She gave him an appalled look and Nishinoya nodded.

Chiyo was about to argue when a loud boom echoed across the riverbank. The water beneath them rippled and she turned her head just in time to see a blossom of red and orange bloom against the dark velvet sky.

Then one after another, sparkling trails continued to launch into the sky and erupt in a flashing light. There was blue, purple, green, yellow and pink. The colors shone so brightly they almost felt like daylight reflecting in her eyes.

Chiyo stood there, entranced by the magical view before her. The flickering lights were mirrored in the river below, smelling faintly of gunpowder and smoke as the sound resonated through her entire body like a drum. She felt a light squeeze on her hand and tore her eyes away to meet Nishinoya’s gaze, finding that he was staring at her rather than the brilliance before them.

With that same goofy, love-struck grin, came those familiar words.

“I like you.”

Her eyes widened.

Amari Chiyo was stubborn, but she wasn’t stupid. She realized what her feelings were long before she cared to admit it.

At first, it seemed absurd and Chiyo wondered if Nishinoya’s stupidity rubbed off on her, resulting in such a disturbing revelation. But she soon realized that she did not, in fact, have any loose screws in the head.

At some point in time, she fell for Nishinoya.

Clutching the cat plushie closer to her thumping chest, Chiyo felt her face heat up. She swallowed hard, then opened her mouth. Riding on a certain high, the words began to tumble out of her mouth.

“Yuu, I-!”

A familiar ringtone suddenly blared out, overtaking the booming fireworks in the background as Chiyo suddenly came to her senses and held her tongue. Nishinoya stumbled and began digging through his yukata.

“Shoot, that’s me!” He mumbled, quickly finding his cell phone and checking the caller ID. “Ah, crap. Sorry, I gotta take this.”

“Oh,” Chiyo blinked. “No, go ahead.”

Nishinoya gave an apologetic smile before answering the call.

“Hello? Sato-san?”

Chiyo recognized that name. Sato Akari - one of Nishinoya’s classmates and his assigned partner for the summer history project.

“Sorry, now really isn’t a good time… Yes, I know we need to look over our notes…” Nishinoya sighed. “Look, we’ll set up a time later, ‘kay? I’m on a date right now… Yeah, it’s fine… I’ll call you tomorrow.”

Nishinoya quickly ended the call and shoved his phone back into his belt. “Sorry ‘bout that,” he rubbed his neck awkwardly. “What were you gonna say?”

Chiyo’s lips parted but her voice fell short on the tip of her tongue. She was suddenly reminded of the day when he first confessed to her. He had asked her out so suddenly and with little to no context, she didn’t take him very seriously. Granted, his reasons at the time were as shallow as they could get. But even as he continuously pursued her, she brushed him off with the same mindset, thinking he would eventually get bored and move on.

Yet he never did.

Instead, he faced her head-on with nothing but patience and sincerity.

And now after hearing that brief exchange, a thought sank into Chiyo’s mind.

Do I even deserve to accept his confession?

“I…” Chiyo’s eyes flickered down to her yukata as her drumming heartbeat echoed in her ears. “The fireworks,” she blurted out, meeting his gaze once more with a wistful smile. “They’re really pretty. Thanks for coming out with me today.”

Nishinoya’s face lightened and he grinned as brightly as the fireworks behind him.

“Yeah, no problem!”
