Finally finished! Detailed explanation of the symbolism below. Thank you again to @korpinsulkatmi for the course I had a joy to partake in! Painting this drum was also a practice to accept imperfections in one’s own creations. When my first mistake happened, I wanted to cry; I had failed, the drum was ruined. But I persisted, and, as I continued painting, I realized that the wobbly lines, the crooked circles, the asymmetrical elements - they were not failiures. They simply became part of the whole and gave it its uniqueness, the human touch. It was a weirdly healing experience, and I am glad to call this drum mine. • Symbolism, which is heavily based on Finno-Ugric myths, folklore, folk religion, and traditions: The world is divided into three layers: Ylinen, Alinen and Keskinen. The three worlds are connected by the world tree and three rivers: Elämänvirta (river of life), Tuonenvirta (river of death), and Linnunrata (river of birds). At the top is Taivaannaula (Sky Nail) or Pohjantähti (Polar star), which holds Taivaankansi (Skylid) and Elämänpuu (Tree of Life) in place. In Ylinen is also Lintukoto (Birdhome), which houses all the sielulintu (soulbirds) and Lady Iro, goddess of life. Kuutar (moon goddess) and Päivätär (sun goddess) shine in Ylinen as well. The Wolf and Reindeer are important to me, personally. The Bear is the primordial foreparent of humans, and descended from the heavens to Keskinen. There is a sielulintu bringing a soul to a newborn, and a sielulintu taking the soul of the dead. In Alinen, there is Kipuvuori (Pain Montain), another anchor to the world tree. It is also where all diseases and pains are sent to. All over the world in many traditions shamans wear unique headdresses. The crown on the shaman's head symbolises the quality of consciousness, while it is also a tool for inducting powers from heavenly worlds. Crowns were initiation tools which helped the sacred kings of the Earth connecting to high-order powers. The crown can be installed with powerful symbols like feathers, antlers and stones which give a "program" for these tools. For instance: What is behind the symbol of feather? It is connected to the ability of flying, which can be a physical flight, dreamlike flight or the soaring of your spirit. I have created this basic shamanic headdress. About Julie Jewels Smoot
Like many people, it took me a while to discover my passion, talent, and purpose in life. For years, I had nothing on my horizon. Everything changed when I got personal healing through Reiki Jin Kei Do and sound healing. After serving meritoriously in the US Navy with three medals and two ribbons, helping the Girls Scout of the USA, Blounts Creek, NC, achieve significant growth as a Business Manager and an impactful stint as a Preschool Photographer, I realized that I still had unchecked goals and passion for helping people with my talent.
Changing careers wasn't easy, but I was excited by the sense of fulfillment that comes with helping people discover their true purpose while balancing mind, body, and spirit. In this journey, I have acquired at least five certifications as a practitioner and teacher using sound healing as proven therapy to treat general physical ailments and create harmony between the body and mind.
I am an Accredited Sound Practitioner and Reiki Master who guides people on journeys of re-connection and self-discovery and helping them achieve a natural state of balance and harmony.
Through my company, Julie Jewels Smoot LLC, I apply sound healing and Reiki therapeutic methods to correct and harmonize destructive/negative processes and support my clients to make the most of their lives.
As a Nia First Degree Black Belt and Nia Floor play teacher, I am more than eager to help people with personal development and activating compassion for themselves.
