This photograph I shot at the perfect moment. Maybe some people don’t like it but it’s my favorite photo. Whatever bad shit happening in my life. Whatever social standard I’m not living up to. No matter what people may think or say about me. I don’t care. I took this picture. This one moment always means to me that even if it’s just for a few seconds, those few seconds mean more than a lifetime of all the other things life is “supposed” to be about.

upon getting back from the airport i got fruit at the produce stand on my way home, unpacked within an hour, had a good lunch that i put in the toaster oven while unpacking, and then knocked out for 2 hours of much-needed rest, at which point i dreamt about lesbians at a bookshop. so all in all a pretty good monday id say

I don't have any problem with legacy mantles at all but Dick becoming Nightwing cemented the Robin identity as for children. it's not that legacies are childish. it's just that the Robin name isn't for grownups. this is the same way people age out of being Wonder Girl or Aqualad or Kid Flash.

and if DC weren't cowards they would put Tim in the rainbow batsuit and call him Fruit Bat.

#look i said something #there's also the fact that the Batman and Robin dynamic was designed to work with a Robin who had to be a kid #but that's pretty much irrelevant now because it's impossible to tell a real comics story about Batman anymore. DC doesn't make them #the genre has shifted and now they're action SF (or horror) instead of comics. some of them have made the smaller shift to mystery #only World's Finest is trying to hang on and even they are falling into the trap of too many superhero antics #lots of the stories are good don't get me wrong! but they're genre pastiche now. not superhero comics #that is a different essay about the changing landscape of fiction (and non-fiction but that's just The Grind we know about that)
