She isn’t quite finished yet, but here is the current progress on Claudie’s Party dress.
The original skirt wound up being too short all on its own, so i made sure I had enough for two layers, cut it in half, and attached a yoke of yellow broadcloth for the under layer.
Does the lace look well for a sash or would a white satin ribbon sash be better? Input welcome! 😊
Hi Tumblr! I've been working on making a Tulip cosplay from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Here's a quick rundown of my progress on her dress so far.
I started by draping the pattern. Her bodice has a gathered section that wasn't like any commercial pattern I had, so this seemed like the easiest way to get there.
Also, a lot of materials came from my stash. I have plenty of purple satin and organza leftover from my Lizzie McGuire gown, and that was a great motivator to make this costume-- it's always good to use up what you have. (Everyone say thank you Georgie for holding my stuff.)
First mockup to test my pattern! (Also using whatever random cotton fabric I had in my stash). I decided to give her a side zipper, which was a little hard to get across the waist seam, but I figured it out. It took some strategic hand-sewing.
I made a few changes to the seam placement and sewed a second mockup. And we have a winner! I just needed to drape her sleeve flounce capelet thing and do a quick test. Now we're ready to start cutting out the actual fabric.
I'll be back with more sewing updates soon!
[ Reblogs are much appreciated, I'd love it if you help get more eyes on my art. 💖 ]
Thought I would try to get through some sewing block issues by doing a simple project and decided to make a long pleated wool skirt. I wouldn’t even need a pattern! And I even had this great spruce green wool twill fabric I got for $20 at a thrift store!
Of course when I started I did not realize that I should hand baste all 31 pleats… 😭 It is a simple project but NOT a fast one.
theres like a million pins hiding in this picture but jane doe update! i've also made a new deer/doe tail (its a fur meet i'm going to on halloween) that i've called ricky cause its made with space fabric : D
Did a little work on Morro, but now I’m taking a break from him to work on Alastor. Cause I don’t need Morro until Halloween. While I need Alastor much soon for a con. Plus he’s gonna be much simpler than Morro. So let’s do it!
Progress on the flower crown monster! The flowers are not actually crowned yet, they are just set on top of the monster’s head, and I haven’t actually sewn on the arms, ears, or the head
Kavi’s shirt is refashioned from a child’s tee dress I purchased at one of those return warehouses. Marisol’s shirt (still needing another sleeve, side seam, and back closure) is from a shirt I got on clearance at Target a few years back.
Marisol was my first Girl of the Year doll, and I am endeavoring at present to shower Kavi with affection and appreciation, because has AG done her dirty and she deserves so much better. She will also get a yellow waffle knit cardigan, sourced from the same shop.
Petticoat update! I've been making a monstrous 4-tier petticoat for a ballgown project. I'm still working on the last seam, but I was happy to get it in one piece and try it on over the hoop skirt.
