Thinking about love and community in terms of fiber again. About how much work our ancestors put into domesticating sheep, perfecting cotton plants, streamlining metalwork all so I could spend hours making something out of affection. Love is stored in a lot of different places and it’s there if we look

Hey y’all! I thought I had grown out of my terrible hiccups, but it turns out I have not! And when I say terrible hiccups, I mean silence the entire math class kind of hiccups, sounds like what a toddler would think a dinosaur would sound like kind of hiccups, neighbors at work once came to check on me because they heard the hiccups through the wall and over the sound of the machinery kind of hiccups* This is the first time I’ve had hiccups since I developed asthma and while it hasn’t caused an asthma attack it’s sure not fun lol I know it’s a long shot, but can you share any hiccup home remedies you have? The only one that’s ever, ever worked for me was scaring them out of me, and that only worked once when my teacher managed it when I was like ten years old (that was after I accidentally interrupted the math class) *all of those are actual things that happened (little kids think the hiccups are hilarious)

only recently, I thought that the coming months will look different. but, boy did I do it wrong. I have planned everything in my head, only to re-arrange everything and, naturally, I needed to start think about some other options and put them into perspective.
so I cleaned up the room, threw away some things I never understand why they ever cluttered my room in the first place and re-arranged the furniture. not much, but I was tired. you would never be able to guess what I found. I surprised myself, and secretly enjoying the feeling.
there were some abandoned fabrics from very old skirt, or tees and I thought I could do something before I busy myself with some, more important things to do. (ha-ha) and I made for myself a tissue box, a sanitary pouch and a pen case.

and this is what's bugging me for some time: I fat! iphone, yay. ifat, nay. you could always do some fasting and I think it's my fingers which got busy (they still look thin, despite my belly fat) and not even pinning and watching some people teaching you how to exercise can change the fact that day by day you gain some weight.
I have decided. I will busy again!

I was really into this type of shirt like 2 nights ago (this is a mock up, I was planning on making more with other fabrics)and now I’m like 🤔🤔🤔 do humans dress like this? Is this a hobbit look? Am I feminine enough for puffy sleeves? What pants go with this? Only skirts? What…what?

Surprise! My sister is having another baby in December 🥰
I’m trying to learn how to sew some onesies. Need to work on footsies too.
Also the Dumbo one is multiple sizes to big 😂 it was the first one I made and didn’t realize it was a medium and not a newborn.

YOP10 Week 50/52 - spinning WIPs and habitation update
YOP10 Week 50/52 – spinning WIPs and habitation update
Week 50! Eek! Only 2 more weeks left and quite a few things will be dropped or carried over to YOP year 11. Felting I laid out the fibres for 6 x 20cm shades this week and managed to get them all felted, but need to needle felt some sheep and construct them. I will do a new stock post later in the week when they are finished. Knitting Only my habitation throw has been worked on, nothing else…

i have reached the conclusion that i was a seamstress in a past life. nothing else explains how i manage to hurt myself breathing but pick up needle and thread and do some pretty impressive stuff without any knowledge of the subject whatsoever, and without hurting myself.

It's done! I'm so pleased!
There's a few things I'd fix in a new version, but it looks so neat and fits so nicely that it really makes me happy
One mistake I won't repeat is pick the quick option and do machine buttonholes... 2 of them were already fraying 😖

A Little Grape Pin
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I made this pin a few days ago, and I think it turned out really well! I used fleece, beads, thread, embroidery floss, and an ugly pin (bought cheaply secondhand - I think it had some company logo on it), all from my Craft Hoard.
I used fleece because it doesn't fray (felt would also work), and because I had some in purple. I sewed the beads on, added the stem in green floss, and cut out a circle around it. To attach the pin, I just cut a second circle for the back and poked the pin through, then sewed the front piece over it with a blanket stitch. Next time I'll use thinner fleece for the back, though - the purple is quite thick, so not a lot of the pin pokes through. It still works, though.
I think it's a nice way to repurpose old pins! I'm going to be on the lookout for some boring ones - the kind nobody wants, probably more ugly company logos - to use in future projects.
I thought about making a pin with cherries as well, but I'm not sure if I have any beads that would work well, size-wise. I'd also like to make sure I'll use this one first - I forgot I don't usually wear pins because they poke holes in things. I'll have to try it out on a loose knit where it won't do any damage.

I thought one of the rage moments was that scene with dalinar before he leaves
i love that we have multiple points of reference here @ adolin be angrier more often
wasn't that the "that wasn't something you can forgive" moment??? srry i literally haven't reread row yet since the night it came out. i will say the meeting they had (with the Boots) may not have been overly angry but it was a classic fuck you dad moment

Cake Pops, Covid, Colorado, and Creativity
2020 was… quite a year. Like everyone else, we shut down our lives in March and are just now returning to something that looks a lot more like “normal” as we knew it. Between a national lock down, online teaching, and trying to keep my family safe, my mental health took a dive and I made the executive decision to restart my Zoloft, with my doctor’s approval. I also had to start blood pressure…

Cosette dress past updates pt.1
Given that my old account got deleted (and all my previous posts on my Cosette dress along with it) I thought I'd do a quick summary of how far I've come in my project. I’ll start from the very beginning of my creation journey so it'll be separated in several posts and will be a lot more structured than my usual updates (where I just kinda yell “update! I got fabric!” and that’s it)
Tumblr media
So, how did this project even come to be?
It is no secret at this point that Cosette is not only my favourite character in Les Misérables, but also a character I greatly relate to, I’ve loved her costumes in the stage show and the movie since day one. It is probably no surprise (given that this is a sewing project) that I also love sewing (although I may not be very good at it yet). So one morning when I woke up in a cold sweat and got the impulse to sew myself a pair of sleeve support (cushion like sleeve things that go into the real sleeve of the dress to make 1830s and 1890s sleeves puffy, shown below) following a pattern drafted from an American Duchess video  I decided that it was only fair that, now that I had the support of a hypothetical 1830s dress,  actually start making one!
Tumblr media
(1830s sleeve supports)
The 1830s are my favourite fashion history decade and given that Cosette spends her late teenage years/early adulthood in that decade, I thought it would only be fair to make myself a dress inspired by a character I love so much, and so my dress-making journey began!
