#gnashes my teeth #jestersvaguely #the more i think about this the more it's just. man... #esp the last bit like you have no fucking clue how many years i spent just lagging behind because i wasn't provided the same resources #that my peers were. solely because they were rich enough for smartphones & the teacher preferred that #way of delivering information. and in one case outright refused to switch over to e-mailing the information because they expected #my friends in the class would let me know. which is just. ohhh so many issues with it #and then even outside of that it's an inconvenience because you can't easily call your parents/guardians if an issue arises without needing #to 1) ask if you're allowed access and 2) if you're sick you're forced to stand up. walk past people as a Show of Shame and talk in an open #space about personal things without crying because someone at the desk is watching you and is irritated you're bothering their work #and then in general the whole thing where it's like ''make sure to take a picture of this'' [the class bell rings and i have to scramble to #write it down while people are packing up and covering the screen and the teacher is erasing it] #LIKE IT'S JUST. UGH. AND THIS ISN'T EVEN GETTING INTO LEGAL ISSUES THAT REQUIRE YOU TO HAVE TECHNOLOGY #my grandparents literally rely on their children - and entrust a LOT of their information to their children. which HAS been used against #them - to manage some of their legal & important shit because it's only through websites or texting & calling services and it's soo #it's so fucked up. i hate how it feels like a requirement these days i hate how much is being transferred to digital platforms #instead of something physical and real. you're just losing SO much and it's. ughh

#not really because i fucking need this job #but i was so fucking pissed tonight #and i have to vent here because i dont have anyone to talk to about it rn #op #work stress #i hate being on register #i know im technically still put down as a cashier #and i know im the only customer service associate also trained on register #but i still hate it #why did they have to hire so many new service desk associates #i love them all but its fucking with my hours and it means i get shoved on register whenever there's a rush #im over it #i hate register #my 18 y.o. coworker didn't get her lunch break until like an hour before close #that's bullshit #she's just a kid #this one supervisor who closed tonight #he's a nice guy but fucking sucks at keeping up with breaks #time management and helping the associates is his job #i shouldn't have to take breaks late/ early or skip breaks because he can't keep up #and he keeps leaving before the associates #he's not supposed to leave before we all clock out #also one of my coworkers was racist today #not towards me but still #pretty sure I'm gonna say something about it because she's done it before #ugh tonight sucked #and im losing my day off to this fucking hurricane #i just wanna cry

#going back to work this afternoon #things got even worse as of last Wednesday afternoon #they took away the drawers beneath the counter where we KEEP ITEMS WE ACTUALLY NEED TO SERVE OUR CUSTOMERS #and paneled over every nook & cranny on our side of the desk so no one stores their stuff their #the locker room is a 10 minute walk there and back so now I will leave my things in my car #including my laptop - which absolutely sucks #I had to request they leave us a trash can & tape dispensers because we need tape at least every third customer #the store manager is an airhead asshole that makes 140K plus a year #but instead of thinking of ways to BETTER SERVE THE CUSTOM #ERS #she spends her time coming up with ways to make associates feel even more like we are in prison #they also issued an edict to devote one of our three registers to returns only #when a majority of our work these days is financial services #when I left on Thursday the line was - no lie - 20+ people deep & most were financial services customers #honestly before any salaried managers are allowed to make such business altering decisions they should be chained to the area in question #for a taste of exactly what we do & what we need in practical terms #Hellmart
