Serkel Terbakar, Gede Karang Derita Kerugian sampai Rp1 Miliar 

BALIPORTALNEWS.COM, BULELENG - Nasib malang memang tidak ada yang tau kapan datangnya. Seperti yang dialami Gede Karang Restu Adi pada Rabu (31/8/2022) sekitar pukul 22.30 WITA dimana dirinya harus menerima kenyataan bahwa serkel kayu miliknya yang ada di Banjar Dinas Dauh Munduk, Desa Bungkulan, Kecamatan Sawan ludes terbakar. Akibat peristiwa itu, Gede Karang menderita kerugian materiil hingga Rp1 miliar. Berdasarkan informasi yang berhasil dikumpulkan, peristiwa kebakaran itu bermula dari salah seorang saksi bernama Gede Widiarta, 40 yang tinggal disebelah selatan Tempat Kejadian Perkara (TKP) mengalami mati listrik dirumahnya secara tiba-tiba. Curiga, saksi langsung memeriksa aliran listrik yang masih mengambil aliran dari TKP. Namun betapa terkejutnya saksi ternyata serkel tempatnya bekerja sudah terbakar oleh kobaran api yang begitu besar. Melihat itu Widiarta langsung menghubungi Nyoman Ngurah Lila Abadi, 43 melalui sambungan telepon dan Made Soryawan, 43 yang tinggal bersebelahan dengannya. Akhirnya bertiga langsung menuju lokasi untuk menyelamatkan satu unit mobil jenis carry yang sebelumnya masih ada di lokasi kebakaran. Tidak berselang lama dari itu tiga unit mobil pemadam kebakaran (damkar) Buleleng datang untuk memadamkan kobaran api. "Berdasarkan laporan sementara total kerugian materiil yang disebabkan dari peristiwa kebakaran itu ditaksir mencapai Rp1 miliar," ujar Kasi Humas Polres Buleleng AKP Gede Sumarjaya saat dikonfirmasi Kamis (1/9/2022). Sementara itu, berdasarkan hasil olah TKP diperkirakan barang-barang yang terbakar diantaranya kayu gelondongan dan olahan kayu yang sudah menjadi barang, 10 unit mesin serkel, dan 1 set mesin asah. HISTORY

Es Riq Zov was born to a Morite family during their long and arduous trek from the Serkel Desert to Folkvar Kingdom. His family sought freedom and fortune in these new lands, but to get there, they had to cross treacherous Evangelite territory.

The family was not so fortunate, for they were caught by Evangelite slavers just before reaching the border to Folkvar. Baby Es was separated from his mother that day and never saw her again.

He was instead raised by staff in a slaveyard nursery until the age of 7 years, when he was purchased by a young Evangelite entrepreneur. This entrepreneur's family had been running dealings in the slave-fighting industry for centuries, and Es was destined to be their newest champion.

This ghoulish businessman started training Es to fight right away. He fed the young goblin a diet of high-protein foods, questionable supplements, and yappo leaves, all while forcing him to exercise to exhaustion each day. Es was never taught how to read, write, cast spells, or solve equations. His training taught him only how to bring down his opponent in the quickest, dirtiest ways possible.

At the age of 9, Es's master entered him in the children's league of an Evangelite slave fighting ring. Es proved to be a vicious powerhouse, maiming and even killing some of his pint-sized opponents with no hesitation or remorse.

This trend would only continue as Es grew older. He competed in hundreds of fighting matches from childhood to adulthood, mostly competing against elven, faunish, and other goblin opponents. In one notorious match, he gouged an elven opponent's eyes with his thumbs to subdue them before biting out their entrails. Es draped these entrails on his shoulders, leaving the opponent to bleed out as he basked in his glorious victory.

This brutal attack became his signature move, dubbed the "gouge 'n gorge", which he would perform again and again to delight bloodthirsty audiences. He gained a frightening title along with it: Zov the Elf-Eater.

Zov became his master's greatest champion, so his master began investing large sums to money to make him an even better fighter. Zov's teeth were filed to sharp points, his long ears docked, metal plates were surgically implanted into his knees, skull, and knuckles, and he endured several eye surgeries to improve his species' naturally poor vision.

All of these procedures were illegal in Evangelite territory, so Zov travelled to Zareen Empire many times throughout his career. During these visits, Zov's master discovered something else that was illegal in his homeland: a more refined form of yappo leaves called 'wack'. This powerful drug was consumed by soldiers and athletes abroad, and he decided his best fighter should be taking advantage of it too.

Before long, he was regularly doping Zov with this powerful drug, and at that point the goblin had become an unstoppable powerhouse in the slave-fighting world. His name spread far and wide, and by the time he was just 25 years old, he was already a living legend.

PERSONAL LIFE

Zov is currently still active in the global slave-fighting circuit, performing mostly in Evangelite, Morite, and Zareenite lands. He is such a fearsome opponent that he has even been matched against more powerful species, such as satyrs, and still came out victorious.

After each match, Zov is rewarded with a sacrificial female slave, whom he sexually violates and then kills in the ring as an encore to his bloody performance. Other rewards are granted by his master, which include fine clothes, rich food, entertainment, and more comfortable accommodations.

Compared to most slaves in his position, Zov lives like a king. But compared to any free person, he is still trapped in a bleak existence, filled with violence and cruelty.

When he's not in the ring, Zov spends most of his time with his master's traveling caravan. He has his own private wagon, which is his bedroom and also his cell. He is constantly surrounded by his master's servants and security staff, but has never had a friend, for even those closest to him regard him with fear and distrust.

Zov is described by others as "a man of few words". He is said to have a volatile temper, and speaks more with his actions than his mouth. He suffers from frequent bouts of debilitating depression and psychosis, which his master "solves" by doping him with potent drugs like pink sugar to sedate him.

Zov's master exploits him in more ways than just forcing him to fight. He also charges other slave owners hefty sums of gold to breed their slaves with him, claiming that Zov's offspring will grow up to be extraordinary just like him. Though Zov has many children in the world, he has never had the opportunity to meet a single one of them.

Despite all the abuse his master inflicts upon him, Zov considers him a loving father-figure and trusts him more than anyone else. It seems his master is the only one he respects, for Zov has been known to attack the caravan's staff and even security when they get on his bad side. Yet he has never once laid a finger upon his master--the one who has hurt him the most throughout his life, and the sole person responsible for the hellish life he lives.

Zov is still illiterate in adulthood. However, his master once rewarded him with a picture book featuring famous places around Looming Gaia, and Zov has been smitten by art and culture ever since. He visits historical sites, libraries, and museums every chance he is permitted. His master noticed his seemingly spiritual reaction to music and now uses it as an incentive, promising to take him to live performances if he trains and fights well.

Little does Zov's master realize, these little tastes of the outside world have planted a seed of rebellion within his champion. Recently, Zov has been troubled by a feeling he's never experienced before: a desire for freedom.

Secretly, he wishes to escape his violent career and travel the world, where he can experience the finer things in life like the free people do. His dream is to explore all of the famous sites in his beloved picture book before he dies. At the same time, Zov fears freedom, for he does not know how to survive without his master's guidance--not to mention the drugs he provides to sate his burdensome addictions.

Will Zov ever find the courage and the means to make his dreams a reality? Or will he simply meet a gruesome, unceremonious fate in the ring?

So in response to what @downtofragglerock asked, I have a couple of ideas regarding new locations and islands for the Matoran Universe, meant to emphasize the biological nature of the Great Spirit Robot by acting similarly to human organs;

Delarun is the trash dump of the universe, a point where most of the ocean’s currents converge. Here, Matoran and other species collect trash, junk, and pollution floating adrift from all corners of the world, and go to work recycling and converting it into new material. This keeps the ocean clean, just as the Liver filters the blood; Similarly, civilizations regularly send barges of their trash to Delarun to be treated as well. 

Delarun is a very toxic and hazardous, yet incredibly important location, with very meaningful work- The inhabitants take their duty incredibly seriously and with an almost spiritual reverence, believing in the virtues of acknowledging one’s flaws and toxins -physical or otherwise- to pinpoint, clean, and renew. Rebirth and purity is a big deal to them, especially since magic and advanced tech allows the inhabitants to recycle just about anything.

Likewise, the ocean -which acts as Mata Nui’s blood- has its currents powered by massive, underwater turbines and vents that spin to keep the water flowing. These vents are all across the seabed, but the largest collection of them is essentially an island atop an entire cluster of turbines, acting as a more literal heart for Mata Nui than Karda Nui, helping to pump the flow of ‘blood’ in his body. Its name is either Ankut Nui (after one of Mahri Nui’s concept names) or Serkel Nui (in reference to the circulatory system). A lot of members of Nocturn’s species live here, with their traits coming as a result of their job maintaining these dangerous vents in incredibly turbulent waters.

Then we have the ‘lungs’ of the universe, probably Resper Nui, or the Resper region, something like that (respiratory system). A pair of the universe’s biggest tornadoes generate incredible gale-force winds, stirring up enormous dust clouds on dry plains- But surrounding these plains are some of the most lush rainforests in the universe. 

Just as the rainforests provide most of our planet’s oxygen, these rainforests create breathing air that the cyclones then blow out into the universe, while also pulling in carbon dioxide that sustains these rainforests. There are other locations like this, but the biggest and most prominent are the twin cyclones of the Resper region- Said cyclones are powered by massive turbines and fans that people operate underground, and in the ceiling of the dome.

Next is a series of winding tunnels that constitute Mata Nui’s stomach and intestines... Filled with acidic waters that routinely rise and sink as the High and Low Tides of that part of the universe. It’s the main and only known way of accessing the southern portions of the universe, hence why exploration is so scarce; These acidic, unpredictable tunnels are very hazardous to get through, and back.

Then we have what is named either Genosylum, or Reaprah, the ‘birthplace’ of civilization- This is where the first generation of each sapient species is designed and created, before they’re teleported to their respective homes, equipped with the knowledge to create others of their kind. It’s the reproductive system, hence the name Reaprah... Or Genosylum, like the safe asylum of civilization’s genome (AKA genitalia). 

Yes, it’s in the crotch- And yes, let’s get our immature jokes and laughs out of our system. If some poor location has to be Mata Nui’s crotch, we may as well make it meaningful and deliberate to compensate. Genosylum/Reaprah is a hidden location of myth, like Artakha- Primordial from womb-like memories pulled up by the most skilled of telepaths.

(I like the name Genosylum more, it sounds more primordial, probably because of its Latin etymology. However Reaprah fits the Matoran language better and has a naming scheme like Karda Nui... And invokes the word Reaper, wonderfully ironic like Umbra the Light being, but also the word Reap, as if Mata Nui reaps the people he grows for their purpose. Also Genosylum sounds too Agori because Latin roots, but then again if it’s so early and primordial a location, that might make more sense. What do you guys think?)

The homeland of The Shadowed One, Ancient, Tyrant, and Conjurer is none other than... The Appendix of Mata Nui! A land of shadows and ice, supposedly not blessed by Mata Nui’s loving gaze, according to a bitter TSO... This is an interesting concept, so why not the Appendix- An otherwise neglected organ that nobody really knows nor cares the purpose of! This ‘Shadowed Land’ (my placeholder name) was a prototype location from initial designs and work on the Great Spirit Robot, but it was then abandoned in favor of more improved locations- Thus, TSL’s purpose was forgotten and replaced. 

Due to never being finished, it was physically cut off from the other domes, contributing to why Mata Nui forgot about TSL, as did the Great Beings for the most part- TSL wasn’t even given proper lighting and heating systems! Eventually, explorers with the power of intangibility discovered TSL, and Artakha built a proper tunnel to facilitate travel- But by this point, the justified resentment by its inhabitants had already been built up.

I also have other organs I want to adapt, such as the kidneys and pancreas, maybe even the spine- And I’ve had previous posts about acid lakes and lightning rod trees that serve their own purpose. I’m open to any suggestions or feedback, but yeah, this is part of YaBr’s world building, in an attempt to make the Great Spirit Robot feel more biological, as was the original intent! These people and locations are meant to run the inside of a massive being, so they need to have an actual, discernible purpose beyond mostly being antagonistic to our heroes.

Gudang Serkel Kayu di Penuktukan Ludes Dilahap Si Jago Merah

BALIPORTALNEWS.COM, BULELENG - Sebuah gudang kayu atau serkel milik Nengah NU (58) berlokasi di Banjar Dinas Batu Lumbang, Desa Penuktukan, Kecamatan Tejakula ludes dilahap si jago merah sekitar pukul 00.15 WITA. Menurut informasi terbakarnya gudang serkel seluas 4 are itu baru diketahui korban sekitar pukul 00.15 Wita. Saat itu Nengah Nu terbangun akibat lampu dikamarnya yang kebetulan berjarak kurang lebih 15 meter dari gudang kelap-kelip dan mendengarkan suara seperti ada terbakar. Kemudian karena penasaran korban pun keluar rumah, namun betapa terkejutnya ternyata api sudah sampai atap bangunan serkel miliknya. Sontak korban langsung berteriak meminta tolong kepada warga sekitar. Selang beberapa saat kemudian warga sekitar langsung berdatangan untuk membantu memadamkan api yang sudah mulai membesar. Lalu sekitar pukul 00.35 Wita dua regu Pemdam Kebakaran (Damkar) dari Pos Induk dan Pos II Kubutambahan datang dengan 3 unit mobil tangki. Akhirnya kobaran api yang terus membesar baru bisa dipadamkan kurang lebih 4 jam atau sekitar pukul 05.00 WITA. "Tidak ada korban jiwa seluruh penghuni rumah selamat. Dari penuturan korban sebelumnya sekitar pukul 22.15 WITA korban sudah menutup pintu rumah dan tidak menemukan adanya percikan api," ungkap Kapolsek Tejakula AKP Ida Bagus Astawa saat dikonfirmasi, Sabtu (2/7/2022). Kini atas kejadian itu polisi masih melakukan penyelidikan apalagi mengingat api begitu cepat menjalar membakar seluruh kayu kering yang ada di gudang. Namun berdasarkan informasi pemilik kerugian sementara mencapai terhitung kurang lebih Rp1 Miliar. Yes! Duali and Edelrhun are such places. There are also many smaller settlements that don't appear on the map, and so they are still unnamed in the series. They appear as villages, either compact or sprawling, in a radial formation around a central obelisk.

The obelisk towers high above all the other buildings and can be seen from far away. They are made from stone, usually polished to reflect light, or lit with a flame or magical glowing orb at the top. These measures increase visibility.

There are no roads out in the Serkel Desert because they quickly get covered in the shifting sands. Instead, it's these massive obelisks that help travelers find their way around. These constructs helped Yerim-Mor Kingdom ascend as a world power, as they opened reliable trade lines in regions where it wasn't possible before.

Today, those trade lines are plagued by bandits and Crescent Cultists...but that's a whole other story.
