Jonathan keeps careful documentation on all of his corvid companions, with a color coded banding system corresponding to their temperaments and records of their health (as many are rescues brought to him by Selina.)
Nightmare. Self explanatory name. Common raven. Female. Missing right eye. Black band. Very temperamental and aggressive. Has shown little to no concern of larger animals, at times fighting with cats, dogs, and other species.
Craw. Given name. Carrion crow. Male. Molting around neck and left wing, malformed left leg. White band. Friendly, not at all cautious around strangers, more than happy to be pet and carried. A rescue from a drug den, which unfortunately left him in poor health. Cannot fly well on his own.
Mary. After Mary Shelley. American crow. Female. No notable markings. Yellow band. Timid, but not aggressive. Very fond of pens, pencils, paint brushes, and any other writing implements.
Francis. After the protagonist in The Call of Cthulhu. Fish crow. Male. No notable markings. Green band. Timid, but not aggressive. Very quiet, especially compared to his flock, and prefers to watch visitors from afar.
Bette. After Bette Midler. Pied crow. Female. White ring of neck feathers usually kept puffed up. Orange band. Haughty and not fond of being pet. Has a tendency to pull at and/or swipe earrings, necklaces, change, rings, brooches, nails, and anything else remotely shiny.
Macbeth. After the infamously unlucky play and its titular character. American crow. Male. Small scar on the right side of the neck. Red band. Very aggressive and solitary. Doesn’t care for fire or knives. Very suspicious of strangers.
Manson (or Double M). After Marilyn Manson. American crow. Male. No notable  markings. Red band. Temperamental, but not as dangerous as Nightmare. Tries to pick fights and bother the other birds, especially Nightmare and Macbeth, other animals, and people.
Roland. After the Warren Zevon song. Rook. Male. No notable markings. Orange band. Cautious, but not innately aggressive. Not fond of loud noises or guns, more than likely to attack.
Ligeia. After the Poe short story. American crow. Female. Eyes are darker than normal, cause unknown. Yellow band. Cautious, but not aggressive. Very inquisitive and curious, investigative of new people and objects.
Rowena. After the second wife of the narrator of the Poe story her sister is named after. American crow. Female. Eyes are somewhat cloudy, the effect of cataracts. Yellow band. Cautious, slightly less so than Ligeia. Often “bickers” with her sister, squawking and snapping amongst each other.
Imitateur. French for (unsurprisingly) Imitator. Fan-tailed raven. Female. No notable markings. Blue band. Very friendly. Gift from Edward, fond of repeating words and phrases.
Hitchcock. After the director. American crow. Male. No notable markings. Yellow band. Solitary and cautious. Observational and very intent on watching things around him. May bite.
Clarice. After the protagonist in Silence of the Lambs. American crow. Female. No notable markings. Green band. Cautious, but not aggressive. Often “talks” with people, making noise and imitating words back to them.
Renfield. After the Dracula character. Carrion crow. Male. Feathers are patchy around his head. Yellow band. A little testy at times, but not usually aggressive. Likes bringing dead rats and mice to “safe people”.
Cash. After Johnny Cash. American crow. Male. No notable markings. Green band. Relatively friendly, though standoffish at times. Has a tendency to repeat snippets of songs, especially from his namesake.
Nelson. After Willie Nelson. American crow. Male. No notable markings. Blue band. Calm and friendly. Also mimics songs.
Kristofferson. After Kris Kristofferson. American crow. Male. No notable markings. Yellow band. Standoffish, but calm. Mimics songs.
Jennings. After Waylon Jennings. American crow. Male. No notable markings. Green band. Relatively friendly. Just like the other three named after the Highwaymen, mimics songs.
Amelia. After Amelia Earhart. American crow. Female. Albino, red eyes, has a few notches in her beak. Green band. Relatively friendly, if a bit cautious. Excellent at flying, especially given she was being attacked by alley cats when I found her.
Puck. After the infamous character from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Pied crow. Female. No notable markings. Yellow band. Mischievous as her namesake, but relatively friendly. A little too good at mischief and mayhem.
Jay. After the titular character in the Great Gatsby (Edwin picked the name). Carrion crow. Male. No notable markings. Yellow band. Fussy and prone to nagging for attention. Far too interested in my glasses. Does not like to be touched.
Jack O’ The Green (just Jack works as well). After the folkloric figure (another name from Edwin). American crow. Male. No notable markings. Blue band. Very friendly and accepting of people. Has a tendency to bring me and, mostly, Edwin leaves, flowers, pebbles, and other small gifts.
Byron. After Lord Byron. Common raven. Male. No notable markings. Green band. Generally friendly, but can be touchy now and again. Mischievous and prone to causing trouble, as well as watching me work. Will also steal pens.
Narcissus. After the Greek mythic figure. Thick billed raven. Male. No notable markings. Yellow band. Generally amicable, but easy to anger. Does not like to be touched. Has something of a fascination with his reflection.
Magdalene. After the biblical figure Mary Magdalene. Rook. Female. Green band. Friendly and calm, appreciates attention and affection. Very social with the other birds, though appears most drawn to myself.

Batshit AU Part #1: The Bio Kids
(Yes I have actually decided to call this the Batshit AU. I already have a series of one shots [there is only one so far, lol.] called Assorted Batshit on Ao3 so I figured I'd just keep going with the name.)
I have been posting a lot of stuff to do with "my Batfamily" or "my version of events" so I figured I'd go ahead and make some long ass posts about what I would love to see in the Batfam's future but know I will never get (but that's why fanfic exists so I guess I'll live)
Now there isn't going to be any clear timeline to this because I plan to write different fics in regards to these particular chain of events and when or how things happen might change depending on the plot. But it starts with the question asked by Random Joe many posts ago:
How many kids do you have, Mr. Wayne?
Well to answer that question:
Legally: 7
Biologically: 5
Emotionally: Anyone under the age of 25 that is within a 50ft radius (I'm mostly kidding but lets be honest, it's kinda true).
Now if that math doesn't make sense to you (as most math doesn't make sense to me), fear not! I shall explain!
So Legally we have as follows: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Cassandra Cain, Tim Drake, Duke Thomas, Damian Wayne and Helena Wayne.
These are the obvious few.
Now we get into Biologically and things get a bit more complicated. For this category we have: Damian Wayne, Terrance McGinnis, Athanasia al Ghul, Matthew McGinnis, and Helena Wayne (I put them in order of their ages and added colours if you wanna skip my ranting and get to the goods).
Now for those of you who may not be as obsessed with Batfam lore as I am; yes all of these characters are canon (in some timeline anyway) and you are welcome to google them. But just be warned that I take canon and make it my bitch so almost nothing you read about them on their wiki-pages or wherever you look for your info will really matter (besides Damian but even then I take creative liberties). But I love Easter eggs so there will be plenty of those.
Damian and Helena are pretty straightforward. We know where Damian came from and Helena is just the result of Selina and Bruce finally getting their shit together.
Terry, Matt and Athanasia are a bit more complicated.
Terry & Matt: These two cuties were the unfortunate victims of an experiment called the Batman Beyond project. A project that was put into motion by A.R.G.U.S. after Bruce "died" (was lost in time) as a way to make sure that the Batman legacy lived on (as if he doesn't already have a million children for that).
Warren and Mary Singer were lead scientists on the project but after finding out what exactly it was that A.R.G.U.S. was doing with the "failed attempts" (they were killing them) the couple stole the toddler subject BN9-12 (Terry) and infant AC7-30 (Matthew) and fled (I made the numbers up on the spot don't read too much into them). They changed their names to McGinnis and raised the boys in Gotham City (cause that was a good choice...).
Unfortunately, their old lives eventually caught up with them and Mary and Warren were killed. Terry (around 10-11yrs old) took Mattie (around 7-8yrs old) and ran, his parents having taught him some skills in case something like this ever happened. The boys lived on the streets for many months before running into Tim Drake (i.e. Batman) who later adopted them (because when faced with black haired blue eyed orphans there is only one thing for a Batman to do).
[Side note: Tim doesn't know the boy's origins at this point.]
Athanasia: After Damian's death at the hands of the Heretic, Thalia went insane (more insane?) with grief and as a result decided to have another child with the left over.... substance.... shall we call it.... that she had acquired from Bruce all those years ago. However this time she intended to keep the child safe where they couldn't be hurt by either the League or Bruce (as if Thalia wasn't the main reason Damian was dead... but whatever. I have mixed feelings about Thalia).
When Athanasia was "born" (taken from her birthing pod, as one is) Thalia locked her away Rapunzel style in a secure location. Never allowing her outside for fear that she would be discovered by Ra's spies and killed.
For 8 years Athanasia grew up in relative luxury inside her bedroom, learning history, politics math, writing, and anything else Thalia thought she needed to learn. But Thalia never taught her how to fight (haven't quite decided her reasoning for this so just go with it) and as a result Athanasia is a very quiet, gentle child (basically the opposite of what Damian was like at her age).
Thalia never told Athanasia about Bruce. Since she wasn't created with the intent of being the heir to anything, Thalia saw Athanasia as only hers and therefore deemed it unnecessary for Bruce to know of her existence.
But she did tell her of her older brother; Damian (what Thalia told her is still undecided and will probably depend on overarching plots).
The rest of Athanasia's story is still in the works but essentially Damian eventually finds her and brings her back to Gotham with him. But although she acknowledges Bruce as her father, she lives with and defers to Damian (and Jon depending on the situation) as her caretaker.
So here is Part #1 of the Batshit AU!
Next Part will probably be about Dick and Jason's child situation that I've hinted at. I'll link it once it's done. :)

AU Where All the Batkids are in School but are Still Superheroes
I see a lot of No Powers Highschool AUs out there, but superheroing is half the fun to me. And yeah, technically, I’m pretty sure most of the Batfam have been to school, but I mean, at the same time? You’d have to squish their ages down, but I think it’d be wild! And also, it’s all the Batkids (and some Superkids because why not, they go to the same school in this AU, okay?), including Helena, Terry, Matt, etc. And yes, they all keep their backstories (as in, Terry and Matt are still McGinnis’s too, and all that.) Also, I suck at knowing the education level system and ages, so, just a warning there.
Not in School (duh): Bruce, Alfred, Selina, Jim, Lucius, Clark, Lois, other adults
In (Fourth Year) College: Kate (23-24)
In (Second Year) College: Dick, Barbara (19-20)
In (First Year) College: Tam (18-19)
In Senior Year: Jason, Luke, Kara (17-18)
In Junior Year: Cass, Harper, Terry (16-17)
In Sophomore Year: Tim, Steph, Carrie, Duke, Conner (15-16)
In Freshman Year: Damian, Helena, Colin (14-15)
In 8th Grade: Matt, Jon, Cullen (13-14)
In 4th Grade: Timothy Fox (9-10)
In Kindergarten: Tiffany (5-6)
Who Stays Where?
For reference, I’d say they all go to a school somewhere between Gotham and Metropolis, rather than Gotham Academy or Metropolis High. Let’s call it... Mediocre High. A mediocre school for completely normal, mediocre kids.
Stays in Metropolis w/ Clark and Lois, but are at Wayne Manor 90% of the time anyway: Kara, Conner, Jon
Has their own apartments/safehouses but are at Wayne Manor 90% of the time time anyway: Kate, Dick, Jason, Tim, Steph, Harper
Stays at Wayne Manor: Terry, Cass, Carrie, Duke, Damian, Helena, Colin, Matt, Cullen (unless Cullen stays with his sister... or if any of them run away, because they do that often too)
Stays with their parents, or at their own apartments, and are at Wayne Manor a little less than 90% of the time anyway: Barbara, Tam, Luke, Timothy, Tiffany
What’s the Sitch with Relationships?
Biologically Bruce’s, and known to the public as biologically Bruce’s: Damian, Helena
Biologically Bruce’s, but not known to the public as biologically Bruce’s: Terry, Matt (these two often visit their mother!)
Legally adopted by Bruce: Dick, Jason, Tim, Cass, Duke
Not legally adopted by Bruce but, come on, they’re his kids anyway: Harper, Cullen, Carrie, Colin
Family Friends that are like siblings/cousins (or siblings-in-law ;3): Kara, Conner, Jon, Barbara, Steph, Tam, Luke, Timothy, Tiffany
Wine Aunt/Older Sister: Kate
Shenanigans
It was a hilarious bit started by Steph and encouraged by Dick, Jason, and Carrie that they should all stuff themselves into the smallest limo or helicopter possible and crawl out like clowns. It was funny, to be fair, but the bloodshed spilled because of it banned them from doing it again. The kids got split into two separate cars after that, but eventually went back to one big limo, except for those who’d prefer to keep their sanity and drive there on their own (assuming they have a licence).
This batch of kids, excluding Kara, Conner and Jon, are often referred to as the “Wayne kids”, or the “Gotham kids”. Sometimes Kara, Conner and Jon get called Gotham Kids as well, despite being from Metropolis and proud. They’re vocality from protesting against being called Gotham Kids earned them the nickname “Not-Gotham Kids”.
Damian, Helena, Colin, Matt, Jon and Cullen are one of Those groups. Often together, closely knit, all characters on their own, but together, they lose all braincells. Teachers love all of them individually (with the exception of Damian), but are absolutely terrified of them as a group.
The second group most like that would be the girls- Tam, Kara, Steph, Cass, Harper, Carrie and sometimes Barbara, Kate and Helena. Alone, they’re pretty good kids, but together their chaotic-ness knows no bounds.
Who are we kidding? All of these kids are like that. Put any two together, and you’re either going to see someone get stabbed, a glitter bomb explode, an impromptu dance session, or debate the pronunciation of “bologna” for an hour.
Due to Damian often claiming he’s the rightful heir as the blood son, Helena, Matt and Terry will often pipe up to remind him that he isn’t the only blood son (or daughter, in Helena’s case). This often causes problems, not because Damian attacks them (verbally or physically), but because Terry and Matt aren’t, in the public’s eye, biologically Bruce’s, so the kids often have to scramble to make up some excuse to outsiders, often settling with it being an inside joke.
In this AU, Terry and Matt go by “Futurebat and Futurebird” because Why Not? As for Conner and Jon both being Superboy... how about, we just keep it that way? Because, really, Why Not? The public dubs them both the “Superboys”, and there’s no need to change it for now. Sometimes Conner gets called the Superclone, but mostly they just differentiate by some variation of “Superboy One/Uno and Superboy Two/Dos”. Sometimes “Superteen and SuperPre-Teen” when Jon was a bit younger. Also, think of all the shenanigans that can arise from that. Amazing.
Damian, at first, had as much hate towards Helena (and eventually Terry and Matt when they learned of them as well) as he did towards Tim. But, Helena always found his anger a bit funny (so long as it wasn’t life-threatening, which it often was). She never wanted to “be the heir” to Batman or Catwoman. She just happened to be their kid, and she wanted her own hero persona anyway, aka The Huntress.
To explain the situation with Helena, Terry and Matt, I’d say Helena (who’s a few months younger than Damian) was raised by Bruce and Selina, but the two’s relationship was on-and-off, and there were long periods where Selina would solo-parent Helena and Bruce (or Alfred and/or Dick, really) would solo-parent Helena. Eventually, the two got their shit together and are currently in a loving relationship, but not married yet. Terry and Matt were, of course, kept hidden from Bruce, being raised by Warren and Mary in a loving family. Eventually, after the death of Warren, and Terry trying to strike out as a solo hero, and the discovery that his DNA matched Bruce’s rather than Warren’s, their story was revealed that Terry was planned to be “future Batman” by Amanda Waller (needless to say Damian did Not Like That). Terry confronted Bruce and told him about it, and eventually Matt would learn the truth as well.
The only people Damian actively calls by their first names are Jon, Colin and Helena. Helena is only because Damian didn’t want to admit she was a Wayne at first (even though her legal last name in this AU is Kyle-Wayne).
They have a lot of animals, some are permanent, some come and go, some are just strays they feed, but nothing will compare to the amount of cats they have. The majority are strays that stay outside of the manor, yes, but they have too many. Sometimes they’ll be walking down a street opposite side of Gotham, and see one of their cats. This isn’t even because Selina now lives with them, and she brought her cats with her. No, it’s because Dick, Barbara, Jason and Steph, among others, loved the idea of Catwoman being a crazy cat lady, so they kept getting her more cats, which, in turn, gave everyone a new cat. And Damian was not helping in the least bit. Selina at least tried to stop them from bringing more cats home, but Damian would smuggle them back in anyway. Bruce honestly wishes someone had a cat allergy so they would have an excuse not to have that many cats.
Helena is a dog person. She likes cats, but... Dogs.
The Batkids all fight over the right of getting to babysit Tiffany.
Cass is often called the Good Kid by teachers and staff. That is not true, the true Good Kid is Duke. This is because he’s the only one that can maintain his braincells even in a group... 90% of the time, anyway.
Half of these kids will vanish during school hours to go stop some crime even though Bruce has repeatedly told them not to do that. The other kids who are not superhero vigilantes or manage to respect said rule (which is not often) scramble to make excuses for them. No excuse has ever been something normal, but it works because “When have Wayne kids ever been normal?”
School events like dances and football games are awful. Some of the kids are aware going will be awful, and desperately try to get out of it, but someway, somehow, they always wind up there. It would have been chaotic enough just having the Gotham Kids go, but when they bring their friends too (Teen Titans, Young Justice, Outlaws, whomever), there’s no hope. Their classmates at school both fear and look forward to these events, depending on how they go down. On one hand, it’s the Waynes! You’re basically watching “Keeping up with the Waynes” in real life! On the other hand, oh god, don’t get caught in the crossfire, whatever you do, run for dear life if you must.
Amazingly, Dick is the only one who got permanently banned from these events. And he didn’t even do anything. Well... anything as bad as his siblings, anyway.
They have all gotten suspended at least once, whether they are a Good Kid or not. Jason is actually one of the Good Kids so long as his siblings aren’t around to annoy him, but he got caught with a gun once, and barely escaped getting expelled... well, actually, he didn’t barely escape it, he was a Good Kid after all. But it was still on the table. That was, miraculously, the only time he got suspended.
Damian, surprisingly, does not have the highest suspension rate, but he does have the highest “called into the office” rate. You can guess all the reasons- sneaking pets into school, sneaking wild animals into school, having knifes and/or other weapons on him, belittling other students (he’s not intentionally trying to bully them, but, he can’t help but point out what they’re doing wrong), arguing and insulting teachers, ditching class (for vigilantism of course), etc.
The highest suspension rate goes to Dick, before he went to college. Mostly it was just due to how often he would skip classes and not turn in homework, but occasionally he would get into fights (to defend another kid, usually). The schools hadn’t yet gotten tolerable to the chaos that is the Waynes yet.
I suppose I should list the Good Kids. They are as follows: Cass, Duke, Jason, Luke, Helena, Cullen, Jon and Tiffany (she is Small and Innocent).
The Bad Kids: DAMIAN, Conner, Steph (she likes causing trouble for fun), Carrie (same as Steph, but more class clown-y) and Terry (mostly when he was younger).
The Bad Kids Sometimes: Harper, Timothy Fox, Kara
The Neutral Kids: Tam, Tim (depends on whether he’s crashed from lack of sleep or caffeine overdose), Dick, Matt, Barbara
The “Troubled” Kids (don’t label them that schools, rude): Colin, Cullen too technically but he’s more “Good”, Kate, literally all of them depending on the time of day (or night, specifically)

Miraculous Future (2)
After the Picnic/Saturday afternoon
KDP> I’ve updated story tags, so please check those before you read.
Previous Next Masterpost
***********************************************
Marinette and Adrian managed to work together to get all the kids, Chloe, Kagami, Nino, Nathaniel and Alix into the two large cars Alfred and Jason had driven.
“Alfred, do you know if there will be baby necessities where we’re going,” Marinette asked as she made sure the kids were settled into seats. There was no car seats for a toddler in either of the cars.
“We do not have anything for older babies,” Alfred sighed.
“Hold him,” Marinette said passing the toddler to Jon, “keep getting everyone organized.”
After giving directions she ran through the park and across the street to her parents bakery. She ran right past her mother who was helping a customer and up to the apartment above the bakery. In her room she found the diaper bag she was making for Bruce and Selina’s new baby and packed it with a few of the diapers, wipes and other items she kept at her place from when she babysat the kids of her parents friends.
“Marinette what is going on? Mr. Wayne called and said something about an incident and children?” Sabine asked as Marinette made it downstairs.
“Somehow children from the future are coming into the present.” Marinette made a face, “including six that are calling me mom.”
“Six!?” Sabine exclaimed.
Marinette shrugged, “We’re working out what happened and hopefully we can send the kids back to their times. Since classes are over after today, can I stay with Mr. Wayne and the others until this is resolved.”
“I think they’ll need the help,” she said holding up the diaper bag she carried as proof.
“Mr. Wayne has already suggested having you and your friends come help with the children if you’re willing.”
“I’m willing,” Marinette immediately said.
Sabine smiled, “he offered to pay for your father and me to go with you but with the orders we have to finish this weekend...” she trailed off.
“It’s okay Maman. It’s the end of spring and the wedding business is booming.” Marinette shrugged as if it didn’t bother her.
“Thank you Maman,” she said kissing her mothers cheek before running back to the waiting cars.
“Thank you for waiting Alfred,” she said as she slid into the car. She accepted the baby and did her best to hold the boy in her arms as safely as possible for the short drive to the hotel.
“I hope we can get you guys back home soon,” she said a little worried about what they would have to do to keep them safe if that wasn’t the case.
“It’ll work out somehow Bug,” Adrian said and smiled at the twins snuggled into either side of him.
———————————————
When they arrived at the building that held the French branch of Wayne Industries, Marinette was less than surprised. Even the men waiting for them at the curb didn’t surprise her.
Damian opened the door closest to Marinette and the children upon seeing him and Luka started calling out greetings for their ‘Papa Luka’ and ‘Baba’. Like when he saw Marinette the toddler practically leaped into Damian’s arms. Marinette, not expecting it, nearly dropped him but Damian caught him and shifted the baby into his arms. The baby, once settled, just babbled at Damian and patted his hands on Damian’s cheeks.
Marinette had to stifle a laugh at Damian’s deer in the headlights look and quietly snuck a picture using her phone camera. Dick and Tim helped Nino, Nathaniel, Alix, their future kids and the future teens out of the second car before both groups were being shepherded into the building. Bruce Wayne himself met them inside and escorted them further into the building.
“Thank you for coming,” He was saying to the group. “For whatever reason this phenomenon is occurring across the globe the heroes affiliated with the Justice League are escorting the children to local access points where we can transfer the children to a safe place they can be protected while they get to the bottom of this. We were told the Batman would be escorting your children himself from this point.”
The door Bruce led them to opened to a conference room where he ushered them inside. “You can wait in here until he arrives.”
“Thank you dude, I mean, sir,” Nino said before walking into the room with his three kids from the future.
“Thank you,” Alix echoed before entering with her boys and Nathaniel and his girl saying thanks in passing.
Once everyone was seated around the table he said, “Considering that these children are from the future, members of the League will be asking you for information to help identify possible causes that led to the children being displaced. Since they are technically underage, we would need parental consent to speak with them. But given the unique circumstances we need to know if you would qualify as an adult that could give us that consent?” He asked looking at the teens in the room.
Nino, Nathaniel and Alix nodded. They had all had their 18th birthdays during the school year. Marinette’s birthday was last month as well, however having skipped a grade when she was younger she was only 17 years old.
“I’m not,” she said.
Bruce nodded. “I did speak with your mother and she said they would support any decisions you made. Additionally your future children will have a second parent involved and we’ll need to identify who that is, if we’re to have all the information available to us to help solve the mystery they present to us.”
“We could probably tell you all that,” the male teen, McGinnis the girl had called him, offered to them. “Marinette, future Marinette that is, had all the kids tested to identify the bio dad because they would have unique family medical histories depending on who they are.”
“Very well,” Bruce acknowledged, “but the testing will still need to be done to verify and to be put in the records.”
“Okay,” Marinette agreed.
“Let’s begin from oldest to youngest. Can you give us your names and ages. Then the names of parents,” Bruce said and looked at the two teens.
“Oldest would be me,” the boy said, “I’m Terry McGinnis, 17 years old. My mom and dad are Warren and Mary McGinnis. There’s more to process with my genetic information but that’s something I’d prefer to go over later B-Man.” He finished with a significant look at Bruce.
Bruce nodded before turning to the girl.
“Helena Wayne, 15 years old, daughter of Bruce Wayne and his wife Selina Kyle. Hiya dad,” she finished with an impish grin at the shocked man.
“Let’s get the rest of you done in batches,” Dick tried to pick up where Bruce had stopped in his shock. He looked at the kids with Nino.
“Dahlia Lahiffe, 13 years old, my mom and dad are Alya Cesaire and Nino Lahiffe. My sisters are Lacy and Julie Lahiffe, 7 years old, their parents are Stacey and Nino Lahiffe.”
“I break up with Alya?” Nino asked.
“Mr. Lahiffe, it’s difficult to say what the future holds. Even with these children here in front of us, it’s possible that their very presence has changed our futures and what happened to result in their world may not happen in ours,” Bruce finally pulled himself out of his shock and addressed Nino’s question. “The best thing we can do is to live our lives the best we can.”
Nino nodded before attention turned to Nathanial who in turn looked at his little girl.
“Mary Kurzberg. I’m 4,” she said holding up five fingers. “This is my daddy,” She added hugging Nathaniel. “I don’t know where my papa is.”
“Is this him,” Nathaniel asked showing her a picture on his phone.
“Papa!!” The little girl exclaimed holding his phone and hugging it.
“It’s a picture of my boyfriend, Marc Anciel,” He told them. “He hadn’t shown up to the picnic yet when the kids appeared. I can text him to meet us here.”
“Please.” Bruce said.
“I guess that leaves you munchkins,” Alix said looking at the boys with her.
“I’m Rolland Kubdel. I’m eight years old,” one said.
“I’m Theo Kubdel and I’m six years old,” the younger one interrupted.
“I’m talking poop head,” the older boy said hitting his younger brother on the arm.
“Ow,” the younger yelled, “mama Rolland hit me.”
“Stop it. Didn’t we go over this in the car downstairs,” Alix asked, “no hitting each other.”
“And your parents,” Bruce asked getting the kids back on track.
“William and Alix Gavroche,” the older finished.
“Okay, that leaves you and your group, Marinette.” Bruce turned attention to their group.
Marinette blushed because she had some suspicions based on how the kids interacted with their future adults what their responses would be but listened as the oldest girl interrupted.
“You should do Sakura first. It’s only her and her mom’s. We have a lot more in our family.”
The adults agreed and turned to the little girl.
“My names Sakura Bourgeois-Tsurugi. I’m six years old and my mothers are Chloe Bourgeois-Tsurugi and Kagami Tsurugi-Bourgeois.” She frowned thoughtfully at her mom, “I don’t know who my dad is.”
“You’ll want to test me just in case,” Adrian said, “but I don’t think it would have been kept from her if I was the donor.”
Chloe nodded in acknowledgement of his words but didn’t add anything.
“We haven’t ever heard anything about her dad,” Terry said, “just that Kagami and Chloe are her moms and that Chloe was the one that was pregnant.”
“And we’ve spent three weeks every year during the summer holidays at their madhouse since I was seven,” Helena added. “That was a fun year too, since both Marinette and Chloe were pregnant.”
“We’ll test just in case but we’ll rely on the two of you to make decisions based on the information we have,” Bruce made a note in the file he created for the girl.
“I’m Emilie Kent. Ten years old, and the eldest of Marinette Dupain-Cheng-Couffaine-Wayne and Adrian Kent.”
Adrian was pleasantly surprised at the information that this was his daughter by blood and that he and Jon would be married in the future. Jon looked confused by her introduction though he was a bit happy about Adrian marrying him too.
“I’m Thomas Couffaine-Wayne. I’m the 8 year old son of Damian, Luka and Marinette.” The boy said with a stubborn cross of his arms.
“Damian’s his bio dad but he’s always been pretty stubborn about the fact that he has two dad’s,” Terry said.
“Shut it, McGinnis,” Thomas turned on the older boy.
“Make me, kitten,” Terry said tauntingly to the smaller boy.
Marinette pushed the small boy back into his chair when he growled and stood up. She didn’t feel like separating them if they did actually get into a fight like she’d seen Damian and Jason do on occasion.
“I’m Emma Couffaine-Wayne,” one of the twin girls said next.
“And I’m Jane Couffaine-Wayne,” the other girls said.
“And we’re 6 years old,” they finished together.
When they didn’t say anything else the adults looked at Terry and Helena.
“Luka and Marinette,” Helena answered.
“I’m Guy, and I’m five years old. Mama is my mama and Baba, Dad, Papa Adrian and Papa Luka are my dads.”
“Guillaume Kent. Jon and Marinette,” Terry inserted before the adults could ask.
“And last is little Louis Couffaine-Wayne, he turned two a month ago and he’s biologically Luka and Marinette’s,” Helena answered for the baby who was really too young to say much of anything understandable.
Bruce finished the last of the notes before putting the paperwork aside.
“The next steps are going to depend on what you agree to,” he started. “The League are going to need to see the kids to do their tests and to ask additional questions but that will be in the smaller familial groupings and will take a day to get through all the children that have arrived here in the present.
“They are setting up quarters for the future children to stay in while they are in the current time. Whether you stay with them or just arrange to visit them while they are here is up to you. It is inadvisable for them to go to your current homes because of the circumstances of their presence here in their past present to them.
“If something should happen then most medical personnel would not believe that you have the rights to approve treatments. Additionally if any currently active villain somehow got ahold of them they would again be in distress as because they theoretically do not exist yet.
“Yes they are here. We can see them and talk to them, but legally, they are non-entities and we can’t change that.”
“What are you recommending sir,” Nino asked.
“The League wants to take responsibility for the children while they are here to protect them. There are a few secure locations that the children can stay at and visitation can be arranged or if you prefer it can be arranged for you to stay with them.”
“I think I’ll stay with them sir,” Nino said and looked at his oldest girl. She smiled at him which he returned.
“Me too, but could Marc stay as well,” Nathaniel asked.
Bruce nodded. “If he wishes to of course.”
“I’ll stay as well,” Alix sighed with an exasperated smile. “Someone is going to need to keep these two from killing each other,” she said as she broke up yet another silent fight between the boys.
Chloe and Kagami were quietly conversing with Sakura so attention turned to Marinette, Luka, Damian, Adrian and Jon.
Damian was quick to insert, “Couldn’t we arrange for this group to stay with us at the manor father? It’s as safe as any of the houses that the League has available and I think they’d be more comfortable in familiar quarters.”
Several ‘Please grandpa’s’ followed his suggestion from the kids before he added, “And I think Ms. Bourgeois, Ms Tsurugi and their daughter might be more comfortable there as well.” When little Sakura had started pleading to grandpa right along with the Bugs.
“We’ll speak with the League and if Marinette and the others agree, I won’t mind hosting them,” Bruce answered to the children’s cheers.

I loved the “Batwoman” season 2 premiere last night and loved Ryan!!! :D Her backstory is so tragic and I’m excited to see where her character goes. I just instantly liked her. Also that theory about her actually being Helena (Bruce and Selina Kyle’s daughter) still seems very likely which I’m happy about. :D I also loved everything with the rest of the original cast and that their stories get to continue and the now series long mystery of what happened to Kate. We also finally found out where Alfred is and that he’s retired back to England. We finally have the Batmobile back!!! :D And that slight “Cobra Kai” shoutout about starting a dojo. LOL I highly doubt that’s the last time we’ll see Tommy/Hush and he should now have his stitched up version of Bruce’s face that he usually has that in the comics. Also I wouldn’t doubt getting flashbacks now that we know Warren Christie is also what Bruce looks like, and/or whenever the real Bruce finally comes back. But I loved seeing Tommy pretend to be Bruce as I’ve wanted to see that in live-action for so long. Can’t wait for next week!!! :D

Sorry, i'm new to your blog and i'm intrigued by your oc's but also kinda confused. Can you give me a quick rundown of who's who? (Like their names, parents, etc)
Okay then!
Most of them are Descendants OCs, but I have crossovers into Sky High, Marvel, Once Upon a Time, The Kingdom Keepers series, and Disney ZOMBIES. I’ll try to get everyone in one list! I hope this answers your questions.
I’m also gonna put this under a cut because it’s gonna get long. I blame an overactive imagine for many of these guys.
Feel free to send asks about any of them if you want! Lia and Zeraphina are my two most popular talked about on this account, but I welcome the excuse to talk about any of them!
My personal favorites on this list are Lia, Bianca, and Haley.
Lilith “Lily” Lokidottir: My very first Descendants OC! A crossover with the MCU (or, my version of it) she has four books and counting (starting with the Isle of the Lost book and also two other crossovers!) She’s the daughter of Loki from the MCU, who, due to a mix-up and lots of problems, ended up on the Isle of the Lost, where she was raised by Maleficent. Her love interest is Jay.
Selina Oceana: My second Descendants OC! A daughter of Ursula, who’s first book was literally just the Descendants movie with Selina replacing Mal - but I’m proud to say I got much more original for her second and third book. Her love interest is Ben.
Aza: my third Descendants OC! A daughter of Aladdin and Jasmine, who ends up falling in love with Jay. It’s all a bit cliche... until a whole curse from Jafar comes into play.
Aria Crownsend: Another Descendants OC. She’s a daughter of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip in Auradon. Aria is pulled into the world of the Kingdom Keeper series in order to act as a sort of character spy, as her own Disney Princess character, in the Disney Parks.
Reign Queen: this one’s an OC for Descendants and Ever After High. She’s the daughter of Descendants’ Evil Queen (and twin sister of Evie) who, along with another Auradonian, was kidnapped and taken to the world of Ever After in hopes that the two of them could disrupt Ever After’s reliance on the Storybook of Legends and forcing their destinies on their kids. She’s a Rebel through and through, even if she really is supposed to have a happy ending to her destiny. She’s dating Adam Beast II.
Adam Beast II: The second of my Descendants-Ever After High OCs. A prince of Auradon (son of King Beast and Queen Belle, twin brother of Ben) who, like Reign, was kidnapped and taken to Ever After with the intent of disrupting the world’s reliance on the Storybook of Legends. Unfortunately, that’s where their story gets complicated, as Adam was cursed with a twisted version of the Beast Curse in hopes of forcing him to follow his dad’s destiny. He’s dating Reign.
Carly De Vil: Another Descendants OC. A daughter of Cruella De Vil and twin sister of Carlos. Carly’s story was a request, with an unusual love interest: Chad Charming. I’m proud to say I did it well, and Carly’s trilogy is one of my favorites to write. Her third book is inspired by the OG Descendants 3 teaser and involves the identity of hers and Carlos’s father.
Roseleta Mercier/Nara Dracona: Another Descendants OCs. A daughter of King Beast and Queen Belle, she was kidnapped by Queen Narissa (the villain of Enchanted) and taken back to the Isle and raised there. Years later, as Nara, she returns to Auradon as part of Ben’s proclamation, and rediscovers her family and her true life. Her trilogy is on its third and final book, The Dragon That Cannot Fly, which features Naros, a version of Ben if he was the one who was kidnapped and raised on the Isle instead of her. Nara’s love interest is Evie, while Naros/Ben’s love interest is still Mal.
Rose: Another Descendants OC, whose story crosses over with the Once Upon a Time series (only the first five season of it though.) Taken from Auradon and her parents, Rose is transported to Storybrooke, where she is one of the two Saviors necessary to break the curse and restore Storybrooke.
Jackie Sparrow: a Descendants OC, daughter of Captain Jack Sparrow and Angelica (from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides!) Truly her parents daughter, Jackie is a devoted pirate, though her trip to Auradon teaches her that “not all treasure is silver and gold.” Her love interests (polyamory!) are Jay and Theodora (an OC.)
Royal: (Okay technically Royal is not my OC. She’s technically adopted. She was created by my cousin, and then dumped on me to write her story. My cousin has since dropped all interest in Royal and her story, but I do love Royal and so she’s basically mine now. With that out of the way), Royal is another Descendants OC! Royal is born out of a love spell that Maleficent cast on King Beast, and so obviously Royal’s got some pretty peculiar parentage. Royal grew up on the Isle with her little sister, Mal, but when Royal basically invites herself along to go to Auradon for Ben’s proclamation, things definitely get more complicated. Uncertain of her own worth to either of the families she could possibly belong to, Royal is a very complicated character who feels more like she exists to be a pawn more than a person. Her love interest is Nik Goodwin, an OC.
Adam Mercier: the son of Royal in an AU of her story where Ben’s proclamation never came and she and all the others remained on the Isle. Adam is named after his mother’s father, and is a combative, impulsive character who loves his mother fiercely. When Ben’s son, Alexander, finally makes a successful proclamation to get some kids off the Isle of the Lost, Adam is one of the kids chosen to leave, alongside his cousin Malachi, his god-sister Carla, and Fairen and Jayra.
Chloe Charming: the older daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, from the same story as Royal. One of Royal’s best friends now.
Skalja Bjorgman: the daughter of Anna and Kristoff, from the same story as Royal. One of Royal’s best friends now. Also, my first canonically autistic OC!
Bianca Mercier: Another Descendants OC! She comes from Dark Haven, a version of Auradon where good and evil are flipped. King Beast and Queen Belle, the Rulers of All Evil, rule a kingdom of evil, while Maleficent is the Mistress of Goodness, exiled to the Banished Land with the rest of the heroes. Bianca is the Princess of Darkness, as the daughter of King Beast and Queen Belle, and looks forward to her future as a queen of evil, but when she’s unfortunately placed in the Auradon that we know, her views of evil and good are unfortunately challenged and complicated. Her love interest is the Dark Haven version of Mal.
Lia Hawkins: Another Descendants OC! The daughter of Jim Hawkins (from Treasure Planet), Lia is also the princess of the far-off planet of Solasar. With a compassionate and determined personality and the powerful ability to create and manipulated light itself, Lia is the perfect foil for Mal, who she finds herself at odds with only a day after her accidental arrival in Auradon. Lia’s love interest is Ben. She’s one of my favorite OCs.
Haley Olympia-Graves: Another Descendants OC, whose story also crosses over with the world of Sky High! A daughter of Hades kidnapped from the Isle of the Lost, Haley ends up being raised by a mortal foster-mother in Maxville. Haley’s magic is mistaken for superpowers and she is taught at Sky High, the school for superheroes, but eventually, she discovers the truth about her parentage and who she is. Haley’s love interest is Layla.
Gwyn Carlye/Barkowitz: Another Descendants OC, and her story crosses over with Disney’s ZOMBIES series! While Gwyn was raised as a perfectly human cheerleader in Seabrook, there’s some things off about her. Her green eyes can glow. Her hair is white, for some reason. And she’s fascinated by the full moon. When she turns out to be the Great Alpha that the Werewolves are looking for, their search for the moonstone leads them into Auradon, where Gwyn discovers the truth about her origin. Gwyn’s love interest is Willa.
Zeraphina McAlyster: A Disney ZOMBIES OC! Zeraphina is half-Zombie and half-human, loves football, and loves to challenge the rules. She attends Seabrook High (after the events of the first movie) and shockingly enough, actually ends up dating Bucky, the cheer rockstar.
Cassia Larsen: A Sky High - MCU crossover OC! The daughter of Loki, she grew up under the radar in Maxville, raised by her human mother, where Cassia’s seemingly-simple abilities - the ability to create and control ice - could easily be passed off as superpowers. Of course, things don’t stay hidden and simple for long. Cassia’s love interest is Warren Peace.
Belladonna Valaise: an OC for a Disney-fandom-in-general story, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Belladonna, a talented apprentice briefly stripped of her magic for a miscast spell gone horrible wrong, ends up teaming up with a certain mouse-like apprentice in order to recover a powerful magical item from an evil magician. I don’t talk about her much on here, but she’s still around.

Short Reviews, when the Big Mouth doesn’t have much to say… Or is trying to get caught up from COVID / Election Overload
Tumblr media
An Occasional Attempt to Read, Discuss and Review the Wonders of Comics
By: John Rafferty, cranky old man, and Fan of All Things Comics
Short Takes
Short Reviews, when the Big Mouth doesn’t have much to say… Or is trying to get caught up from COVID / Election Overload
Legion of Super Heroes 6-10  (DC Comics)
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis    Pencils: Ryan Sook (#6 - 7, 10) Various (8 - 9)   Inker: Wade Von Grawbadger (#6 - 7, 10) Various (8 - 9)
‘You want to be called Bouncing Boy?
Looking at the Memexes, we were considering “The Bullet”.
Bullet?
It’s a projectile that——
No, with me, it’s all about the BOUNCE.
———————————————————————————————————
Can Brian Bendis write everything?
Between story, and downright FUN, this is a great book.  Team books are hard to do well, if for no other reason, because of the characterizations.
Multiple characters mean multiple personalities, and some of those will always get underdeveloped in relationship to the team, as the writer invariably has favorites  Unless…
What we are seeing with LSH is development of characters from across the spectrum. Every book has development of some of the characters, even if they’re not directly involved in the story. This is a far cry from what you see in other books.
Add to this Ryan Sook’s breakdowns, and Wade von Grawbadger’s inks, and you get a pretty package, all tied up in a big bow. More importantly, this is a story with a legacy reaching back 60 years, and is being truly refreshed for a new audience.
This isn’t the Legion I read in 1967, but it’s damned good!

Suicide Squad #9 - 10  (DC Comics)
Writer: Tom Taylor  Artist: Bruno Redondo
I have Kord’s location.
Okay. Do you also have the Senator?
Oh, did you want him back for some reason? That spineless mouth-breather championed a law to dump more waste into the sea. Delusional, greedy @#$% thinks he owns the world.
I have some friends reminding him he does not.

Floyd Lawton, first appearance, Batman #59, June 1950, as the man who never misses.
Floyd Lawton, a man who feels no rereason to continue living, but has no wish to die: who puts his life on the line to save his teammates time and time again, to save his daughter and her mother, all with the wish of dying in a truly spectacular fashion.
Floyd Lawton, who finally finds a reason to live, in the eyes of his daughter, Zoe.
Floyd Lawton. Deadshot. Perennial member of Task Force X, finally earned his pardon.
Game Over.
By all that’s Unholy, Tom Taylor is a hateful SOB! But the man writes a great story!

Marvel Zombies Resurrection # 1 - 4  (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson   Artist: Leonard Kirk
‘Fine. I guess we came all this way.
Might as well do something really stupid.
———————————————————————————————————
This sums up exploring the World, any world, during a Zombie Apocalypse. Especially when those with Super Powers have been turned into Super Zombies.
So, we pick up with Peter Parker, Forge, Karla Sofen (Moonstone), Valeria and Franklin Richards, a Flerkin named Chewie, and the reprogrammed Sentinel lovingly called ‘Nana’, moving from defendable place to defensible area, seeking a ‘safe place’. Somewhere they can rest for more than one night… if that is possible.
Always realizing the next tree could be hiding a zombified Avenger, or Defender, or Loved one…
Johnson’s Miniseries is another version of the Marvel Zombiepocalypse, which begs the question, what happens when Zombie Galactus infects your world? Or, more importantly, when it CARRIES the infection to your world?
Leonard Kirk’s art style is perfect for this story, a very dark, visceral style which is a little hard on the eyes, making the reader work for every panel. Yes, it hurts to read, but IT SHOULD! It’s Zombies!
This is worth the read if you can get all 4 issues (the first issue came out in July).

Rorschach #1  (DC Black Label)
Writer: Tom King   Artist: Jorge Fornes
‘They won’t talk to me. Treating me like I’m a  damn Kindergarten kid. I got twins in Kindergarten. Duane and Dwight. I’m not a Kindergarten kid.
Jesus Christ. What’d they say to you?
That you’re dying.
Shit.

In 1985, Walter Kovacs died.
It went unnoticed, but for the few in attendance, for Kovacs died following the Alien Invasion of New York, which, in effect saved the world.
Yet, unnoticed, but for the few, Walter Kovacs became a red splash on the Antarctic permafrost.
And Rorschach, the Crime Hunter, died with him.
Or. did he?
In a world existing somewhere between Watchmen 1985 and Current Multiverses, Tom King and begun a noir-ish tale… Did Rorschsch come back, to foil an assassination attempt, and die in the process?
Did he come back, and fail at an attempt at assassination?
Or, Gentle Readers, is there a whole slew of balls in the air we just haven’t seen yet, that we are going to be expected to juggle deftly, as they drop just into sight?
I can’t wait for the answer!

Justice League #54 - 57  (Death Metal Tie-In) (DC Comics)
Writer: Joshua Williamson    Artists: Xermanico (54, 57), Pencils: Robson Rocha (55 - 56), Inks: Daniel Henriquez (55 - 56)
“Don’t you get it Cyborg? We’re not the Justice League!
We’re the Suicide Squad!
———————————————————————————————————
I have said before I am not a fan of Joshua Williamson’s writing.
Maybe I just don’t like him on the Flash.
Four issues, each of them a very good story, each building, with some action and humor, to a smash mouth endpoint, that brings us to Death Metal #5.
I have to say, I’m enjoying this run of Justice League, even with the switch of artist teams mid - tale Xermanico’s work os beautiful, right into the valley of the Starros (that gave me giggle fits!) Rocha and Henriquez’s work is very pretty, and a little darker than Xermanico’s, giving a more atmospheric touch to the Antenna of LOD.
I have to admit, they do a mean Kori, as well! Really FIERCE, with a Full Length mohawk!
Well worth the cost of admission, and a strong addition to the Metal storyline.

Nightwing #75 - 76 (DC Comics)
Writer: Dan Jurgens   Artists: Travis Moore and Ronan Cliquet (75), Ronan Cliquet (76)
‘We have to talk.’
———————————————————————————————————
Four words.
Four words that have ended more relationships than violence.
Dan Jurgens has done a masterful job of tying up the Ric Grayson / Amnesias storyline that seems to have run for nigh on ever… by bringing it full circle to Anatoli Knyazev, the KGBeast.
The artwork in these two issues was pretty, with obvious switches between that of Travis Moore (the Titans / Batgirl pages) and Ronan Cliquet’s Batman / KGBeast pages.
Nicely tied up, completing multiple storylines in two issues. Ready to move forward/

Young Justice  #19 - 20 (DC Comics)
Writers: Brian Michael Bendis and David  Walker   Artist: Scott Godlewski
Red Tomato?
I think he said Tornado, and you know it.
Honestly, he talks so fast, I can’t understand him most of the time.
———————————————————————————————————
Damian Wayne, Robin.  Cassie Sandmark, Wonder Girl. Bart Allen, Impulse. Conner Kent, Superboy. Stephanie Brown, Spoiler. Keli Quintela, Teen Lantern. Zan and Jayna. the Wonder Twins. Jinny Hex, Naomi, Amethyst,
Twenty issues in, and the book is cancelled… or is planned to end. Either way, this is a suck way to do things, DC.
This is a great group of characters. Much better than the roster in the Young Justice cartoon, simply for the diversity. Some heroes just coming into their own, some who have existed for years,  (the Wonder Twins have been around in MULTIPLE iterations since the 1970’s), all helping each other… This was a great jumping in book for pre-teens who weren’t up for all the violence / hyperkinetic action / storytelling of a true adult book.
And, it was FUN!
Bendis, Walker and Godlewski produced a fantastic product every month.
One which is ending too soon. Unless, of course, it is going to come back in a new package…
Hint, hint, hint…

Amazing Spider-Man 50 - 53  ‘Last Remains’  (Marvel Comics (duh!))
Writer: Nick Spencer   Artist: Patrick Gleason
‘You’re going to love it, Pete. There’s no better feeling in this life — Than being surrounded by those you love.
———————————————————————————————————
So, what are the rules around DEAD Characters returning?
Do they have to be relevant after so many years? Shouldn’t they be, well, driven to do something? Not take more than 50 issues to finally get around to saying…”Bazinga!’, or it’s equivalent?
I must admit, issue 50 is the first issue of a Spider-Man book I picked up, and started to enjoy, until I realized I needed to pick up the LR issues also in order to get the whole story. Didn’t’t we get enough of this in the Shooter Years?
What about a year and a half ago, when Marvel vowed they would never pull this crap again??
I guess they forgot… (Insert comparison to jackass in office here).
Too much work, don’t really care.
Especially when the reveal of who Kindred is happens in issue 50, and Peter finds out in #53… Puh-Leez!
At least it’s not Professor Warren and his Gwen Stacy clone. **BRRRRR** Freakin’ Creepy Old Perv!

Batman 101 - 102 (DC Comics (bigger DUH!))
Writer: James Tynion IV   Artist: Guillen March (101)  Pencils: Carlo Pagulayan   Inks: Danny Miki   Artist: Carlos D’Anda (Pages 13 - 16)
‘DOUBLE RENT! And you don’t talk to the other tenants! They are good people.
Little Santa Prisca is a community. We live through BANE. We live through JOKER. Don’t blow it up with all your nonsense!
You got it Charlie, No Nonsense. Not Here.
Hey! What’s your policy on Hyenas?
———————————————————————————————————
So, Lucius Fox is one of the richest men in the world.
Selina Kyle has put the Bat on a One Year Clock to get his stuff together, or she walks.
Clownkiller might be the Bernard Goetz of Superhero Vigilantism (look up the reference, I can’t do everything!), but he goes about proving you can’t keep a good vigilante killer down if he has Google.
Ghost Maker is more than we thought, and knows who Bruce Wayne keeps in the closet (or cave).
Is there anyone in Gotham who doesn’t know who Bruce Wayne is?
Tynion continues to pump out some great product, the stories and characters do not disappoint. Including Grifter as Fox’s ‘bodyguard’ was a nice touch, having him get the drop on Batman, a nicer one.
The art in both books, while vastly different, is simply gorgeous. I want to see more od the team of Pagulayan and Miki, I’m hoping to see their work grow with the storylines.
Next issue, BATTLE Sequences! Should be fun, not that it hasn’t been so far.

Shang Chi  #1 - 2 (Marvel Comics)
‘I have to save my Little Sister!
I have to kill my Big Brother!’
———————————————————————————————————
Only meetings should have agendas.
-Me, just now
Once upon a time, Sax Rohmer wrote stories about the machinations of one Fu Manchu, and his oft overturned attempts to take over the world.
In 1973, Steve Engelhart and Jim Starlin brought Shang Chi, son of Fu Manchu into the Marvel Universe, where he and his MI-6 partners Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr were responsible for being the monkey wrenches in the machinery of Fu Manchu’s Plans.
It seems that Shang Chi is back, without his prior father. He is still proficient in all forms of martial arts, but now, he is ‘Champion of House of the Deadly Hand’ (like that name isn’t going to come to but him in the butt like a Karmic werewolf), and since the passing of his ‘Father”, now the Commander of the Five Weapons Society.
The artwork is pretty, and the story, steeped in Asian Mysticism, is a little draggy so far. Is the story good? Yeah, it’s a nice reminder of a character I exjyed a long tome ago.
Will it get better? Time will tell.

The Rise of Ultraman #1 - 3 (Marvel Comics, by way of Tsuburaya Productions)
Writers: Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom    Artist: Francesco Manna
Oh. You’re here to fight because you think we’re one of the species that can’t evolve.
No. I know you cannot evolve.
Fifty-Four of your years ago, my brother came to assist you. And you killed him.
———————————————————————————————————
In the late 60’s, on certain New York television stations, the Saturday Afternoon hours were filled with Japanese imports, Kaiju - United Science Patrol, and of course the story of the death of Moroboshi, and the coming of Ultraman.
Ultraman, a human - alien symbiosis, who fought the Kaiju menace coming to take over the Earth.
Forward to 2020, a new Ultraman, with a new team of USP helpers / friends, and what looks at this point to be a corrupt system surrounding them.
This creative team has done a marvelous job with the material thus far, reviving this character for a modern reader.
It’s just a shame it’s only 5 issues…
It is definitely worth the read.

American Vampire 1976 #1 - 2 (DC Comics)
Writer: Scott Snyder   Artist: Artist: Rafael Albuquerque
‘DAMMIT! Before what happened with Gus, you were the best vampire tracker and killer around. I’m asking you to help me take down whoever this PEELING MAN is.
But if this shitty music and LASERS is your life now, then just say so, and I’ll leave you to it.
It’s not a laser, you goddamned idiot.
It’s a SOLAR LAMP. **klik**
———————————————————————————————————
Ten years ago, Scott Snyder, Rafael Albuquerque and Stephen King started a journey which has spanned 10 Years in real time, but 200 years, and 12 separate cycles in series time.
The current iteration has our favorite group of vamps and exterminators running around 1976, wrecking discos, trains, and graveyards, all in the name of bringing back Stoker’s primary villain.
Snyder proves again he is up to the task of creating a world of whimsy and horror, providing mayhem, madness, and the occasional snorting giggle. His droll wit, and ability to write a phenomenal action piece makes this cycle of the American Vampire story a must read.

Sorry but who do you use for Bruce & Selina? (Also what’s the plan now that batwoman’s introducing Bruce next season?)
Thank you for asking!!
I originally used Robert Pattinson/Kevin Conroy as Bruce and Lili Simmons/Michell Pfieffer as Selina Kyle.
I’m gonna keep Lili Simmons and Michelle Pfieffer because I love their look as Selina, but I’ll probably switch to Warren Christie because he actually looks similar to Dylan O’Brien and Logan Lerman. Like he could be their dad.
It also depends on the New batman movie because I made Earth-38 the DCEU verse instead of just Supergirl’s world, but now that it’s all squished into one, I’m still kind of working out the kinks.
But for now, I’m keeping Selina and switching Bruce (although Kevin Conroy will remain the same). Now that they’re introducing Bruce, Thomas’ (Logan’s character) story can finally be plotted out since I have nothing for him.

Terry McGinnis
Tumblr media
Age: 16-31 Occupation: Vigilante, Adventurer, Student (in applicable universes, Pre-Med), Medical Student (in applicable universes), EMT (As an adult/in applicable universes), Medical Intern (In universes where he isn’t an EMT), Doctor (General Practice/Cardiologist) Aliases: Batman, Batman V, The Future Knight, The Tomorrow Knight, Bats, Rewire, Davis Dusk Date of Birth: 8/23/23 Ethnicity: Mixed Caucasian (Mother is mixed Russian/Italian/Cuban, Father is British, prominently English and Scottish) Nationality: American Affiliations: Bruce Wayne (Successor/Partner, Biological Father [unknowing]), Selina Kyle (Biological Mother [unknown/estranged]), Warren McGinnis (Adopted Father, Deceased), Mary McGinnis (Adopted Mother), Matt McGinnis (Younger Brother, Protege), Dick Grayson (Mentor), Tim Drake (Mentor/Nemesis), Bat Family (Member), Justice League Unlimited (Part-Time Member, eventual leader, previously/occasionally defunct)
(AU-Inspiration: Re-imagined Terry, more plausible origin story. Derived from Batman and Sons lightly.)
Appearance Terry is a young man of muscular build and tall stature, for his age. With dark hair and blue eyes, he bears a striking resemblance to the original Bruce Wayne, one enough that it prompted the man to investigate his parentage to find out the true nature of Terry’s origin. Being that he’s fair-skinned and square in the jawline, Terry uses a full cowl over his face so as to more appropriately mask his identity. Generally, in his public identity, Terry wears dark clothing and leather jackets, though he prefers to keep to simple clothing, often also seen wearing white or gray t-shirts.
In the different iterations of Terry’s Batarmor, he will generally wear clothing underneath the suit, though not in layers, depending on the model of batsuit he chooses. Generally, though, the Beyond-era Batsuit is a batsuit of primarily black color that is a fully-armored model, covering all parts of the wearer except for the mouth, even which is more accomodated through pliable lip-flaps that move and adjust along with the wearer’s mouth. A cowl reminiscent of the original batman mask, even featuring white lenses that can project light at the wearer’s discretion. The insignia on Terry’s chest is a bright red that, much like the lenses of his eyes, is able to project light at his desire. Some models of batsuit that Terry uses eschews the white lenses for red ones of varied design, or occasionally those with a slight tinge of electric blue. Notably, as well, the suit always features gliding wings that form from the underarms that are red in color. Accordingly, the gauntlet blades that run along his forearms run in two, rather than three, and generally are longer as well, than what is traditional to the batsuit. As well, Terry often wears a number of different variants of utility belt that’s implemented into his batsuit, though some models do come removable, usually with distribution chambers as part of metal rectangles.
Underneath the outer layer of the suit is a system of red circuitry and the like which often become apparent when the suit is damaged, or the plating becomes removed in some way, or another.
As he grows older, Terry generally only gets taller, and larger, in build, becoming more evidently similar to Bruce Wayne in appearance with each passing year, to becoming nearly the spitting image of the man by his 30s. Notably, though, following the events of his death and subsequent resurrection, Terry does have a series of surgical and wound scars over his left chest, particularly as a result of the chest injury which killed him, and his heart’s subsequent replacement, twice. Additionally, he does bear a number of slash, stab, and bullet scars across his body from his years as batman.
Personality Growing up, Terry was an intelligent and observant young man, and was able to fairly quickly assess that he wasn’t the biological child of his parents, and that his younger brother Matt was clearly not the son of Warren in a biological sense. It was because of these facts, the lack of his parents telling him of his nature as an adopted child prior to him being able to piece it together, and then the dishonest between them that resulted in Matt being born, that Terry grew up with a rather tense relationship with his parents. Terry specifically had a very volatile relationship with his father, due to his perceived temper issues, and Warren’s inability to relate to his son effectively, resulting in them frequently bickering with one another, down to even the last time that they spoke to one another. On the other hand, Terry had a rather cold relationship with his mother growing up, especially after the divorce, as he blamed her on a number of levels for their family’s fracturing, which only began to improve after he moved in with his mother.
Not long following his parent’s divorce, Terry began running with a rough crowd, becoming a juvenile delinquent in his preteens and early-teens. The types of activities he got into included fighting and theft, as this was his way of taking control of his own situation, though at fifteen he was eventually caught, and put into Juvenile Hall. Through Juvy, Terry’s behaviors became less prominent, as he was given some of the tools he needed to cope with his home life, though other students treated him as something of a pariah and delinquent by his peers, due to his criminal past. As a result, Terry is able to better put himself in the position of the criminals he fights, understanding their rough backgrounds a bit better than some of his predecessors, leading to him being a bit more effective in getting into his enemy’s mindset, in fights or during an investigation.
Being more youthful than Bruce when taking the cowl of Batman up, Terry is seen as less serious than Bruce, though he utilizes a mindset of approaching a situation with it being less serious than it is as a coping mechanism. Terry’s self-assured nature and confidence in himself is how he succeeds, and if something sabotages that then he’s less likely to succeed. In order to project this confidence, Terry is known to taunt and make quips, as well as spout one-liners, while in high-intensity situations, even using this to his advantage in a fight with the brainwashed Tim Drake-Joker.
Terry has a strong sense of right and wrong, despite his willful criminal actions in his youth, and he often does his best to follow it, especially after his return from Juvenile Hall. Generally, Terry will follow his gut on issues of right, wrong, and blame, even if it runs contrary to what others tell him to believe, sometimes to his own disadvantage.
Thanks to his time as a juvenile criminal, and subsequent activities as Batman requiring him to spend most of his free time away from others, Terry has a difficult time relating and engaging to peers his own age, having very few friends, in part because many, aside from other outcasts, are willing to overlook Terry’s past in the circles he runs in, attending a fairly decent private school in Gotham. Just as much, Terry has a difficult time relating to, or working with, other superheroes and vigilantes, either not having quite the same ethical compass as them, or through Terry’s distaste for self-righteousness.
As Batman, Terry feels he has a lot to live up to, with the legacy of not only his predecessor, but the other members of the bat family. While this can become overwhelming at times, particularly when attempting to meet Bruce’s expectations, Terry ultimately is possessed of the drive and self-discipline to pursue this standard, even when he’s grown tired, or sick, of it.
Biography The romance of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle was a whirlwind, the stuff of legends. A love meant to be the most intense and passionate of both their lives, but one that ultimately wouldn’t last, unless one or both of them changed fundamentally as a person. They were a love that weren’t meant to be, though, as Bruce intended to be Batman until the bitter end, until one way, or the other, he was forced to stop. And Selina wasn’t able to find the solace, the safety, the security that she needed to stop being Catwoman, so long as Bruce continued to be Batman.
But that didn’t mean that surprises didn’t happen.
In 2023, Selina would find that she was pregnant. This revelation wasn’t one met with the typical elation that many would, to be pregnant with the love of her life’s child, and with family being one of her dreams, she understood that it wasn’t possible. At least not now.
Bruce would promise to quit, of course he would, but she knew it would not last, or if it did, Bruce would feel some sort of failure, or worse, their son would attempt to take up his mission as well. And that was no way to have a family. It wasn’t fair to her, Bruce, or their child.
Naming him Terrence, and name that rested especially close to her heart, one of the earliest comforts she could remember, Selina placed her child into foster care, a group home that the child would live in for less than a year.
Terrence would be adopted by Warren and Mary McGinnis, a scientific researcher and astronomer, respectively, who had little success in having a child themselves. The two were very loving parents towards the boy, quickly finding that he was very naturally quick to learn, but not so necessarily interested in school subject. Instead, Terry had more of a predilection towards sports and athletics, particularly enjoying soccer and gymnastics. Additionally, Terry was very sociable, making friends with other children his age easily, particularly the likes of Max Gibson, Howard Groote, and Bobbi Sommer.
While he was four years old, Terry would be swept up in one of Two-Face’s schemes, being affected with a variant of Joker Toxin repurposed by the criminal for a convoluted plan that was meant to obtain The Joker’s Jokebook. Terry had been mistook for the son of a prominent businessman association with Wayne-Powers, as he bore a striking resemblance to another small child that had been taken to a company family event that Warren had been in attendance of. Damian Wayne, acting as Batman at that time, ultimately defeated the villain, and dosed Terry with an antidote. This did have some permanent effects on the child, though they wouldn’t be too apparent immediately, and largely it would traumatize the child in a way that he wouldn’t be able to connect for years.
As he grew up, Terry began to take notice of some key differences between him and his parents, and as he progressed in school, he found that he didn’t bear a particularly strong resemblance to either of his parents, notably that both of his parents were far fairer-haired than him, and that he had blue eyes, while both his parents had a darker eye color. While the case of his eyes weren’t a firm indicator of something else being at-play, the hair color was essentially a dead give-away that he wasn’t both of their son, in a biological sense, at least. While he wasn’t certain whether or not this his was a situation of adultery, and Warren simply tolerated him because he was still Mary’s son, or that he might have been adopted by both of them, Terry still began to internalize some resentment towards the two, particularly since he had been able to figure it out himself, with a scant amount of research online, while neither of them had gotten around to actually telling him what this situation was.
When the time came around that Mary would get pregnant again, the pair briefly considered disclosing the adoption to Terry, but thought it better to keep it between them. They were hoping to protect Terry from resenting his own brother, or creating some sort of imaginary imbalance or favoritism in his mind, that wouldn’t be there.
Though Terry was excited about the idea of having a younger brother, he still had the worries that would naturally come to any child, largely about the child monopolizing his parent’s time and affection, an idea that Howard and Bobbi snuck into his mind, though not intentionally. It was around this time that Terry would confront his parents regarding the nature of their relationship, pressing them to find out what it was. Warren then told Terry about the adoption, and the fact that they had been trying for about thirteen years to have children, but just as much assured him that Terry being adopted wouldn’t impact how they felt about him, or the fact that he was their son.
Things would become complicated, though, when Matthew was born. It was immediately apparent that he wasn’t Warren’s son, having dark hair like Terry’s, and strongly resembling Mary otherwise. To everyone it was plainly obvious what had happened, and Warren was displeased, to say the least. Within a year of Matthew’s birth the two were divorced, separating almost immediately. Being the age of eleven by then, the courts decided that Terry was old enough to have an idea as to which parent he’d prefer to live with, and obviously if he didn’t, the judge would likely leave him in the care of the wronged party in the divorce, rather than the cause for the split.
It was at this point that Terry would begin acting out. He became indifferent to his studies at school, and while still having his old friends, became somewhat cold towards them, preferring to instead hang out with an older crowd, who had noticed the athletic preteen could be useful, especially for the purposes of sneaking around. Initially it started small, an occasional fight here or there, to prove that he wasn’t a punk, or to slap around someone who had disrespected or otherwise angered his friend, an older teen Charlie “Big Time” Bigelow, or sometimes even shoplifting.
Over the next few years, though, Terry would start to get into bigger and more elaborate trouble, joining Charlie’s gang, getting into brawls almost routinely, and helping him rip off electronics stores, it wasn’t until one of these robberies that the two were eventually caught. A silent alarm system that was set to an older format than the teens were familiar with went off without their realization, and the police were on the place in minutes.
Gotham’s Police Department and Terry had become acquainted on a few occasions by then, largely related to his fights at school, and even the off incident regarding a candy bar that had “fallen into” Terry’s jacket pocket. This incident, though, was the last straw, and the fourteen year-old would have to do three months, essentially losing his entire Summer vacation to Juvenile Hall.
During this time, over the course of these few years, Terry had little to no contact with Mary, believing it her fault that their family had been fractured, and that the only one of the two with his best interests at-heart was Warren. This also meant that Terry had only ever met Matt on a few occasions. Still, Terry had very little interest in the other child, not having a strong affinity for him, not really seeing him as much of a brother, and more of the cause for his own family’s collapse. Though never outright abusive to Matthew, he was rather cold to the other boy, resulting in a strained relationship well into Matt’s adolescence.
Meanwhile, Warren was finding it progressively harder to get Terry on the right track, as the boy was growing older, taller, and bigger, being almost the same size as Warren by fourteen, to the point that simple grounding or words wouldn’t do much for him. Growing frustrated, Warren would frequently berate Terry with little explanation of the situation, whenever Terry got into trouble. Though he was at one point willing to hear Terry’s side, it became evident that this wouldn’t be the case after the second incident of police involvement. By the time that Terry was sent to juvy, Warren was all but ready to write his son off as a lost cause, ruined by his and Mary’s divorce.
While in Juvenile Hall, Terry was required to see a therapist and discuss his issues, his home life, and many other issues that contributed to his delinquency. Progress was made within that time, and when Terry’s time was done he returned ready to do better, and turn his life around. He’d even managed to reconnect with some old friends, and began dating Dana Tan. Though, he still had difficulty in his relationship with his dad, Warren, who was still wary of whether to trust his son again, and some peers at his school still saw Terry as a thug and a weirdo, the same scrappy jerk who ran around ripping off stores with Charlie Big Time.
Following an incident during wrestling practice, in which another student had spit into Terry’s face and instigated him during a spar, Terry was promptly sent away for, apparently, picking the fight, though no small part of the young man knew that his coach had been looking for a reason to get the criminal off of his team, as it might be a bad look. At home following this, Terry and Warren had one of their worse arguments, with Terry insisting that his father never listened to him, and that he wasn’t even being given a chance to defend himself before being punished. Disregarding his father’s grounding, Terry left that night to meet Dana and some friends at a club.
While at this club, Terry would have a run-in with the Jokerz gang, delinquents who stylized themselves after Batman’s long-dead rogue. Following a brief altercation in which Terry had beaten up two of the gang’s members, Terry lead them away to a part of Gotham that he’d believed to be empty, near an old mansion that he’d seen a few times from the trains. Upon arrival he fought off the Jokerz with some assistance from an elderly Bruce Wayne.
After the fight, Terry assisted Bruce with walking back into his mansion, so as to give him some heart medication that he needed. It was during this that Terry discovered the old man’s former identity as Batman. When this came to light, though, Bruce chased Terry off.
When returning home, Terry discovered that it had been broken into, evidently trashed by the Jokerz, with a dead Warren McGinnis inside, though some key details lead Terry to doubt their participation, or at least their idea. Due to Terry’s previous connection with gangs, and the fight from earlier that evening, it was assumed by the police that the Jokerz retaliated against Terry by killing Warren.
Sneaking into the Batcave, Terry stole the Batman suit in order to retaliate on his own. It was through this incident that he discovered that the Jokerz may have some connection to corporate corruption in Wayne-Powers. Thanks to this discovery, Bruce became interested in having Terry act as his proxy, and become the new Batman.
Abilities and Skills -Olympic-Level Athlete: Due in part to Terry’s conditioning, though he was a highly athletic student prior to even being Batman and receiving training from Bruce and the others, Terry is an athlete of an impressive level. While some say that he will never be on the same level as Bruce in this, or the department of deduction, he’s still more than sufficient enough to be difficult to discern from the real thing. Terry’s initial physicality was even enough to hold his own against a physically stronger, larger, and older, student during a wrestling spar. --Sharp Reflexes: While Terry’s ability to act is far sharper than most humans, the suit still requires him to be attentive and able in order to react to the bullets and attacks that he’s frequently beset by. It’s thanks to this that he’s still able to react sharply enough, even when the suit helps him, to dodge gunfire, and think on his feet in combat.
-Martial Artist: Originally, Terry was only adept in brawling, and to a lesser degree in wrestling, as most of his fighting was either done on the streets, or on the mat. However, as time went on, Terry would not only learn more from his time as Batman, but also receive some formal training from several teachers, in both a practical sense, as well as under Bruce’s direction. By the time he finished high school, Terry was regarded as an advanced-level martial artist, placing him at a similar level to other Bat Family members. --Thrown Weaponry: Though initially only proficient in the use of Batarangs, experience has taught Terry to be versed in the use of these weapons, particularly a disc-like design that comes in use with his suit, designed to be its most aerodynamic, and simplest to use at all levels. Additionally, through practice and training, Terry is capable with the other host of throwing-oriented weapons in his suit. This proficiency extends to other batarang models, though they feel unwieldy and awkward upon use, resulting in a reduced accuracy until he can compensate.
-Stealth and Infiltration: From experience on missions, Terry is adept at moving in a stealthy fashion, abusing shadows and blindspots. However, due to primarily using camouflage functionalities in his suit, Terry isn’t quite as capable in this regard as other Bat vigilantes, and can struggle to go unseen without it, particularly against wary foes, or those who are seeking him out.
-Gymnastics and Acrobatics: In part due to his interest in gymnastics in middle school, and then later thank to his training and activities as Batman, Terry is extremely agile, able to move around areas quickly, and fluidly. He is notably able to perform aerial routines, flips, leaps, and balance on narrow surfaces. The suit’s systems and servos are naturally able to assist him in making feats of acrobatic ability seem effortless.
-Medicine and First Aid: As a component of his time studying Bruce’s files and systems, Terry has become capable in fundamental medicine as a teenager, and sought out a CPR certification. It was at the point that he could perform simple first aid, and administer certain medicines when necessary. As an adult (in some verses) this develops into Terry’s career in medicine or as an EMT, specializing in both General Practice and Cardiology.
-Investigation and Detective Skills: Over his time under Bruce, Terry developed a strong sense of deductive reasoning, and an ability to investigate crime scenes. This extends, as well, to using investigative tools that allow him to glean and gather more information from his surroundings, and draw generally correct conclusions from it.
-Gadgetry: Through his missions as Batman, and then later through both training by Bruce, and studying Bruce’s files, Terry has become adept at using nearly all of Bruce’s gadgets. He is regarded as highly versed in all of them, and has essentially mastered the ones that are built into his baseline Batsuit, as well as those that he’s instituted himself. At a fundamental level, but the time he’s in his 20s, Terry has become capable of modifying extant gadgets, as well as even coming up with the concepts for new designs that he is able to assist others in in the execution of. --Mechanics: Thanks to needing to perform repairs on his equipment as Bruce grew older, as well as through independent studies, Terry is a capable mechanic, particularly in the capacity of repairing his suit, and the Batmobile.
-Will Power: Though not highlighted as extensively as Bruce, Terry’s willpower is shown by not only his ability to maintain the Batman identity for over a decade and a half, but also through his attempts and drive to maintain a dual identity, no matter how difficult it became. It is presumed that in the same capacity as Bruce, Terry could overcome a Green Lantern’s willpower, but due to the fear he holds in himself, of failure, of losing his loved ones, and the like, as well as the fear that villains hold for him, he is not compatible with the Green Light for extended periods.
Weaknesses and Limitations -Normal Human: As a human without any superhuman mutations or abilities, Terry is limited to that which a normal human is.
Equipment and Support Gear -X-6 Batsuit (BEYOND model): Designed by Bruce Wayne in 2018, during a time when he was coming upon the end of his time as Batman, this Batsuit was a technological masterwork at the current time, and was regarded as bleeding edge when Terry began wearing it. As a suit, Damian did not much care for it (preferring instead X-7, until Bruce took the suit from him), and thus didn’t make use of it as Batman going into the 2020s. Similarly, Dick preferred his own Microbot-based suit more. Thus, this suit would become more associated with its frequent user in Terry, and would be upgraded and modified to reflect this. This particular suit was retired after Terry’s return during his early 20s, after the believed death of Bruce, when the suit was damaged beyond repair, requiring a switch up to the X-7. --Physical Enhancement: Through a series of servo-motors and a micro-chasis, the suit is able to simulate Superhuman Speed, Reflexes, and Agility through reacting to his brainwaves, guiding his body both as and before it moves. Additionally, these same motors are able to allow its wearer a level of strength enhancement by a factor of 10. --Gliding Wings: Designed to form and protrude from underneath its wearer’s underarms, these wings extend to tips beyond the wearer’s gauntlets, and enable a precise and speedy movement through the air, so long as the lift and thrust is sufficient. --Thruster System: Built into the soles of his boots, and his gloves, Terry is able to fire off jet thrusters that allow him to fly with the use of his wings, increase the force and speed of his leaps, and otherwise more precisely control his gliding. --Grappling Gun: Able to both be fired from his gauntlet, but also through use of an external unit stored in his Utility Belt. --Bolas: Similarly, able to be fired from gauntlets, or through an external set stored in the utility belt. --Smoke Pellets: Able to disperse a non-toxic fume that both becomes thick and is difficult to breathe in. Stored in the utility belt. --Explosive: Small grenades, coming in both impact and flash-bang, stored in the utility belt, as well as an emergency one that’s formed from the buckle of the utility belt. --Fire Extinguisher Capsules: Essentially a capsule that releases the same volume of foam as a large Fire Extinguisher, stored in the utility belt. --Flexicuffs: A set of handcuffs that modulate size according to the wearer. Made from a highly durable, yet malleable, alloy that is difficult to break. Stored in the Utility Belt --Buzz Saw: Formed from the belt buckle, the saw can be used to slice through high-strength titanium at up to 5 inches. --Tracer: Built into the suit, allows for the suit to be tracked in the Batcave. --Lock Deciphering Unit: A small device that can crack both analogue and digital locks of a typical strength to industrial strength. --Frequency Scanner: Can be used to precisely trace hot receivers of a similar frequency. --Tranquilizer Darts: Stored in the Utility Belt, can dispense a high-strength tranquilizer in small to medium doses. --Retractable Claws: Made from a similar material as the suit’s plating, these claws allow Terry to have a more lethal combat option, if necessary, but also enables him to climb sheer surfaces, cling to surfaces, and even rip through dense materials. --Cloaking: Through use of light-refractive techology, Terry is able to cloak himself effectively, as a camouflage, though this function consumes a great amount of energy, and thus isn’t often used simultaneously with other systems. Additionally, extended use requires the suit to recharge for a lengthier period of time, prompting Terry to often only use it when necessary. --Rebreathing Unit: Built into the mask, so long as Terry is able to actively switch this function on through a command, or someone on-terminal is able to activate it in time, Terry is able to breathe underwater for a time, as well as avoid the negative effects of gas-based attacks. --Insulation: The suit is resistant to Electricity, Cold, Heat, and Radiation to a notable degree, being able to walk through burning fires, combat foes who use radiation for an extended period of time, have his body encased in ice, and be attacked with electrical means, without much damage being accrued as a result of these types of attacks. --Neo-Kevlar Weave and Plating: As the suit itself is essentially armor, despite its cloth-like appearance, the suit itself is largely a collection of circuits with a highly resistant material covering it. This material has expressed great resistance to traumatic forces, the above-mentioned stimuli that it is insulated against, and even isolated instances of gunfire. However, superhuman attackers, forces with sufficient ability to rip and tear the material, as well as repeated or focused gunfire, have also proven sufficient to damage the suit, and its wearer. –-Hyper-Sensitive Touch Mic: A microphone present on the pads of the index and middle fingers that are able to pick up and record sounds through solid surfaces, and from lengthy distances. All noises recorded are stored in a chip in the suit’s wrist, as well as remotely in the Bat Computer. Through these, and other sensors in the suit, Terry is able to simulate a polygraph test. --Communications System: Through broadband, radio, wireless, and net-based connections, Terry is able to communicate with others through his cowl, and use encrypted connections to communicate with the Batcave, or other recievers when he modifies the connection. --Remote Kill: In the batcave a remote kill function can externally shut down the suit’s functions, in part or in whole. --Disc-Launcher: From the tops of the gauntlets, in a similar holster to that which holds his batarangs, Terry is able to fire small bat-shaped discs with a high force and speed. --Electromagnetic Pads: Located on the soles of his boots, electromagnets allow Terry to adhere to certain surfaces, so long as they are able to be attracted to the magnets. --Cowl: The mask itself has an enhanced visual system that allows for vision in the dark, nightvision, and a HUD that allows Terry to readout information pertinent to the suit, and analyze what he sees as if it were a small computer. Additionally, this HUD has wireless connectivity, allowing him to use his mask as a small computer. This cowl also allows the HUD to be used to serve as a set of binoculars, and filter with infrared. Any visuals that the batsuit sees are fed back to the terminal of the Batcave, and be used as analysis for his surroundings, allowing for superior tactical functions. --Laser Shooter: Mounted in the wrist, the beam projected can melt through metal, and be used to stun a target. --Tracers: Can be launched from the gauntlet, broadcast a signal to the cowl and terminal in the Batcave. --PIN-Decipherer: Stored in the fingers of the gauntlets, can be used as small keys to decode PIN passwords and other digital passcodes of up to high-end strength. --Electrical System: Through the use of the suit’s internal battery, Terry is able to discharge strong electrical currents from his suit, specifically to those who come into contact with it. --Various Detective Equipment: Similar to his predecessor, Terry carries a variety of equipment that allows him to analyze and investigate crime scenes. --Gauntlet Terminal: Through a variety of uplink ports, as well as direct digital, Terry is able to apply the computer-like functions of his cowl through a terminal that projects a hologram interface from his forearm. While operating on reduced capacity, Terry is able to use the terminal without his cowl.
-Batarangs: The most up-to-date Batarang design, designed with a circular shape that allows it greater ability to fly and control with precision. Made as the most user-friendly design, these function the same as any other Batarang, though are more well-suited for cutting than more antiquated models. Stored in boththe gauntlets and utility belt. --Electric Batarangs: Fueled with the power unit of the suit, these batarangs can shock and run its current through those that it comes into contact with. The batarang itself is actually highly dangerous to touch, hence its blue color. The batsuit prevents Terry from being hurt. Stored primarily in the utility belt, with two at the end of the gauntlet magazine. --Explosive Batarangs: Stored solely within the utility belt. Essentially function as a baseline batarng, but with a force similar to that of a small grenade. --Impact Batarangs: Essentially more durable, harder-hitting, batarangs.  More well-suited for knocking a target out, or disarming them. Are accomplished by weaving two batarangs together.
-A.L.F.R.E.D.: An A.I. designed to replicate the personality and wit of Alfred Pennyworth, while still possessed of the intellect and processing power of a supercomputer. A.L.F.R.E.D. is stored both in the processors of the suit, as well as the terminal in the batcave. This A.I. is able to perform and utilize any of Terry’s systems, or the terminal in the bat cave, at his command, or independent of his instruction.
-Time Band: A Chronomic-Displacement Device that enables Terry to travel backwards along the path of his timeline. In order to not lose track of his timeline, the band is tooled to always return to the timeline of origin, though accounting for change in history that Terry’s presence causes.
-Batmobile (Flying Model): The most recent model of the Bat Mobile in Terry’s timeline, this particular batmobile is flight-capable, and uses it as the primary means of movement. Much like Terry’s suit, this Batmobile was far ahead of its time at creation, and represented the absolute pinnacle of what other designers managed by the time the new Batman hit the scene.
-X-7 Batsuit: A suit originally designed for Damian’s use, it was placed into storage after the A.I. caused a series of chemical imbalances in the man’s brain. The X-7 benefits from a series of technological and performance advances, as well as a special echolocation functionality that makes its wielder almost constantly aware of their surroundings. However, the A.I. (which is designed to execute the mission as determined by it no matter what) was too volatile to be reliable. This issue became evident when Terry used it, continuing to attack perceived enemies even after the fight was over.
-X-8 Batsuit: Following the ultimate retiring of the X-7 model, the X-8 is a new, even more cutting edge, piece of technology than the batsuits that predated it. Combining not only the technological marvels of the X-7, with the X-6’s overall design and aesthetic, the X-8 institutes even newer technology as part of a collaborative design between Bruce and Max, factoring in functions from the previous models, but also new ones that reveal themselves over time.

Getting to Know More
Fun facts about Terry McGinnis:
He was a notorious middle child in a HUGE family: Dick, Jason, Athanasia, Cassandra, Tim, Duke, Damian, Alina, himself, Helena, Thomas, Bruce Jr., and Matt. His extended family included Dick’s wife, and Dick’s kids, Thomas, Mar’i, and Jake; Jason’s adopted daughter Lian Harper; Tim’s wife, Stephanie; and Duke’s wife; Claire Clover. His extended, extended family also had Uncle Luke’s and Aunt Babs’ kids; Carrie and Nell, Bette Kane, Grampa Lucius, and, well, at this point one got the picture; huge ass colony of Bats living in Gotham here.
He shredded it where skateboard, hockey, motocross were concerned, but he had the coordination of a spaz for baseball and surfing.
His mom was awesome on epic proportions. Seriously, he didn’t know how she did it but she redefined super mom.
Another thing to know, he totally did not have a crush on the Princess of Atlantis, he was only going with her to this movie because he happened to like it, and because Mareena was the only chick he knew who didn’t like chick flicks (Mar’i, Helena, Lian, and Max could all go Suck It! He was going to see a damn action flick if it fucking killed him this year!) Mareena just also happened to like action flicks, which was why she was here with him.
Standing there in the theatre line he tried not to stare at Mareena who was hiding her identity under a hoodie she had stolen from his room when she had walk up to the Manor with a movie for them to see. Mareena did not have friends in Atlantis who appreciated the arts of action flicks. Terry didn’t care though, he was no longer being that weirdo who was going to a theatre alone. Also, she was a chick Dana could not get jealous over and drive him insane. He would think college meant that the drama would die off with the age grow up, but apparently not. And he was not getting blue balls because Dana was having imaginary jealous fits over imaginary slights.
“Why can the line not move faster,” Mareena huffed.
“Because the line is moving this pace because people are slow. Besides, we’re ahead of the line for the premiere line,” he jabbed his thumb over his shoulder to show her. Mareena frowned.
“You people are annoying,” Mareena said icily.
“How are we annoying, you wanted to go to this movie, so I’m going with you to see this movie,” he said.
“I would’ve asked someone else, but,” she started.
“There’s no one but Don and Dawn, and we both know there’s no way in hell that Barry and Iris would let them come.”
“I could’ve gone to New Krypton,” Mareena argued.
“Oh yes, because watching their movies is so entertaining,” Terry rolled his eyes.
“You land dwellers have no appreciation for the fine arts of moving with a flow,” Mareena argued.
“Pipe down, and don’t draw attention of the paparazzi,” he snapped when her hood started falling off of her head, which had him pulling it more firmly over the green hair of hers. Only disadvantage of going to the movies with Mareena was the fact her hair glowed in the dark. But other than that, trade offs, made it worth it!
“You do realize they’d be more inclined to notice you and not me, right?”
“I’m wearing a Gotham Knights cap, and I am not royalty, I’m just one of a hundred Wayne kids,” Terry point out.
“I thought you were a Prince,” Mareena said.
“No, I’m a Wayne,” he said. “Not royalty.”
“You are also…” she held up her index fingers by her head and smiled a bit.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t count,” he shrugged. Dick had been Batman, Jason had briefly been to save Dick’s wedding, Cass currently was, Damian was next. It wasn’t anything special anymore, it wasn’t special in the family he belonged in. Though B was still the control freak behind the scenes for them so technically B was still the Bat.
“Why not?”
“Cause B’s the big man in charge.”
“Your dad is in a wheelchair,” Mareena pointed out.
“Partial paralyses is not a disability, it just means his legs have to take a break sometimes and Mom has to push him around, it’s not abnormal to what normally happens with him,” he shrugged.
“You guys have issues,” Mareena stated.
Terry merely shrugged. “Dad’s fine, we’re fine, it’s all fine!” he snorted.
“Last time you said that everything was on fire,” Mareena stated.
“Let me restate we’re fine. But mostly keep your hair away so I don’t have to explain to Dana why the hell I’m seen with another woman.” Terry stated.
“Ah, the nefarious Dana, why are you still dating that woman?” Mareena asked. “She was bratty when you were a teen, she’s worse now.”
“Not all of us get fairy tale romances,” Terry shrugged. “Besides, I like sex, sex is a great relief to the stress of everything.”
“You sound like a cad.”
“You should hear my sisters talk,” he shrugged. Mar’i, Helena, Max, and Lian were way worse than him about the sex talks, girls were all about feelings, and emotions and connections, it was annoying, and they always talked about it and guys! Terry probably knew more about women than the average guy and it was a disturbing amount information his sisters had given him. And just to clarify, he thought of Mar’i, Lian and Max as his sisters because he had known them since he was in diapers! It was hard to think of them as anything remotely close to something other than sisters.
“And you shouldn’t knock down romance,” Mareena stated. “Your family has the most epic love stories according to my father. Other than maybe Diana and Steve’s.”
“You’re nuts!” he sputtered.
“Am not, the story of B and Selina, Dick and Kori, Jason and Raven, Tim and Stephanie, B and Talia,” she stated. “Epic romances.”
“That’s just gross, and disturbing to think about my family’s love lives,” he grimaced.
“You guys are secret sweethearts I bet,” Mareena decided with a cheeky smile.
“We are the Knight! We are the Terror of Nightmares! We are NOT Sweethearts! Even Alina is even an epic of epic badasses,” he argued. His phone buzzed and he pulled it out to see the text was from his mom.
“What’s up?”
“After the movie we need to go get Matt, Carrie, Tommy and Nell from school. Babs and Luke had to go to Africa,” he said.
“Oh.”
“So we’ll get them, get a slice, and then I’ll drop you off, or are you tubing?” he asked.
“Why would I be tubing?”
“Cause it’s up or down with you,” he retorted.
“Can I stay? I haven’t hung around the surface too much, and I do not want to go to the Tower,” she said.
“Yeah. Julia will help us set up a room for you,” Terry said. Julia had come to Gotham recently because Alfred was sick.
“Who is Julia?” Mareena asked.
“Julia is Alfred’s daughter,” he answered.
“Alfred is not B’s father?” she said in bizarre wonderment.
“Uh… yeah, not a secret,” he pointed out. “Alfred is awesome, and he’s totally grandpa, but he’s not blood.” Terry shrugged.
“WHAT!?” Mareena sputtered. Terry jumped a bit as he stared at her bewildered expressioned.
“What!?”
“He’s not blood!?”
“No, I mean, like ninety percent of my family isn’t blood.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” he shrugged. “It’s not news.”
“I…” she started. “I always thought you were related,” he said.
“Really?”
“Black hair, blue eyes, ungodly pale.”
“What about Duke or Damian!?” he sputtered.
“Okay, so you don’t all look alike,” she rolled her eyes.
“Exactly, and we are all pretty much adopted. Only Athanasia, Damian, Alina, Helena, Tommy, Junior, Matt and I are actually B’s blood kids.”
“I thought you were just… you know, cause you’re a huge family and dad says B started young, really young, so I just assumed,” she shrugged.
“It’s all public record,” he shrugged. “B hasn’t been shy about it. Dick, Babs, Jason, Cass, Tim, Duke, Steph, technically and kind of, Harper, Cullen, Bette, and Renee.”
“I just thought you were related, and I thought you were also, you know,” she shrugged innocently.
“What else did you think we were!?” He sputtered.
“Vampires,” she said innocently.
“I hate dad for starting that rumor,” Terry muttered sourly.
“That one is funny though!” She persisted. “Hal told me, before I met you guys, that you were all demons.”
“Well, Rae is,” he shrugged.
“I thought your dad was big anti- anything that isn’t human marrying into my family,” Mareena said.
“Luci made valid points which had B accepting the fact marrying into a family as divine and powerful as Rae’s is a… you know, it’s kind of a divine honor,” Terry shrugged. “Besides, I didn’t know they weren’t married until they were officially married.”
“You didn’t know they weren’t married?” Mareena asked.
“They’ve been together since I was in diapers,” Terry shrugged.
“Really?”
“Yes really. I’m pretty sure they were the ones who found me,” Terry said.
“I’m learning more about you than I ever thought possible.”
“All of this is actually public record.”
“Really?” she asked skeptically.
“My biological mother was Mary McGinnis, she was married to Warren McGinnis, they died in a car crash when I was three days old and they were driving home from the hospital. I’m technically property of A.R.G.U.S. so Waller took me in, Jason found me about a year later,” Terry explained.
“That’s weird,” she decided.
“No, what’s weirder is the fact that Matt is my full brother,” Terry stated. “Mary and Warren were dead five years before Matt was even conceived, and he’s my full brother.”
“What?”
“Yeah.”
“I thought you were B’s blood son,” Mareena said carefully.
“I am. Waller injected a serum into Warren McGinnis’ DNA to scramble his own DNA to match with Bruce’s. Warren was a chimera essentially thanks to Waller’s tinkering,” Terry said. “I’m a ‘clone’ of Bruce’s in a way or I was supposed to be with what Waller set up, and I’m his son, but NO, he did not get involved in the conception of me or my blood brother Matt. He’s the genetic material for us. He’s still Dad though since he’s well, Dad,” Terry shrugged.
“That’s complicated.”
“That’s my family. Also, completely public record,” he shrugged.
“You’re not normal,” she said icily.
“What!? I’m completely normal! I’m going to a movie, and with you no less, in broad daylight, and I’m not turning to ash because of the sun either!” he smiled.
“You’re sounding like a assbutt,” she muttered.
“Asshole,” he corrected. “And you started it.”
“What did you expect from my family?” she asked.
“Lots of energy,” he answered honestly. “Dad always said that you guys were energetic like no tomorrow and wild, also unpredictable, dangerous, and loud, very loud.”
“You expected that!?” she sputtered.
“Did you think I was expecting a mermaid from Little Mermaid, fishtail and all?” he asked her.
“Yes!”
“Nah,” he shrugged.
“You’re an ass,” she informed him.
“I’m aware.”
“Good.”
“Besides, I’m a you know,” he shrugged. “Being unpleasant and assholes in general are required.”
“Oh! The ticket booth! And next time we are dropping your family name to get into the movie.”
“You wanted to be a normal American teen this time instead of being a Princess of you know,” he said.
“I did not want that. You wanted that. Freaking love of invisibility. I swear if you were metas you’d all be like that.”
“Rae cast an invisibility spell once, that was awesome, terrifying and cool.”
“Why!?”
“Oh, the demons were hunting her, I was like seven, and it was a giant hide and seek game,” Terry said.
“That’s not normal.”
“You grew up under the sea,” he pointed out.
“You grew up in Gotham.”
“I don’t like you right now,” she decided.
“You adore me, I’m paying for the movie,” he pointed out.
“True,” she decided.
“Awe, you two are an adorable couple!” the ticket attendant said when they stepped up to buy the tickets for S.O.S. “First date?”
“We’re not a couple,” Terry stated as he paid for the tickets.
“But we are friends!” Mareena declared slinging her arm around his shoulders.
“Barely.”
“You adore me!” she declared.
Terry rolled his eyes as the ticket clerk chuckled but gave them their tickets. “I’ll spring for the snacks, you get the good seats,” he ordered as they had their ticket punched and walked into the crowd.

off the rack #1301
Monday, February 17, 2020
Happy Family Day. I'm grateful for my extended family of fellow comic book aficionados. Sharing the love of our hobby keeps me young and brightens my life. I miss seeing many of you but you are in my thoughts.
Catwoman #20 - Joelle Jones (writer) Fernando Blanco (art) FCO Plascencia (colours) Saida Temofonte (letters). Mrs. Creel poisons her party guests showing us what a nasty woman she is. Catwoman fights through a bunch of zombies to get some Lazarus Water to save a friend. Selina's final obstacle will be Mrs. Creel. I can't wait for this story to end. It's been kind of blasé.
Thor #3 - Donny Cates (writer) Nic Klein (art) Matthew Wilson (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). Lots of KRAKKABOOMS this issue as Thor fights Beta Ray Bill. Horseface doesn't have a chance with All-Father Thor boosted with Galactus given power cosmic. Don't build a funeral pyre for Bill yet. Someone comes to his rescue and that person is a surprise.
The Dollhouse Family #4 - M. R. Carey (writer) Peter Gross (layouts) Vince Locke (finishes) Cris Peter (colours) Todd Klein (letters). Alice and her daughter recover from the horrible explosion from last issue but their survival cost them an arm and a leg. When Alice gets back to the dollhouse, she finds there's a new tenant and she's not nice at all. This horror title isn't horrible. You should come visit.
Hawkeye: Freefall #3 - Matthew Rosenberg (writer) Otto Schmidt (art) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This issue explains how Clint can be in two places at one time. It's dumb but I don't mind because this story is kind of dumb. I like it for the guest stars. The Black Widow shows up and the hero on the last page is a favourite of mine. If the new Ant-Man mini had been this much fun I'd still be reading it.
The Batman's Grave #5 - Warren Ellis (writer) Bryan Hitch (pencils) Kevin Nowlan & Bryan Hitch (inks) Alex Sinclair (colours) Richard Starkings (letters). I don't know if it's just me, but I find that I lose interest in a Warren Ellis story somewhere and this issue might be it. I've forgotten what the mystery is that put Batman in detective mode even though he's following a lead in Arkham Asylum this issue. I like seeing Batman kick bad guy butt as much as the next fan, but 8 pages of it here seems to be padding the story. Methinks this 12-issue story could've been told in 6.
Savage Avengers #10 - Gerry Duggan (writer) Patch Zircher (art) Java Tartaglia (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). Conan and the two Doctors, Doom and Strange, battle Kulan Gath. Guess who wins? This issue made me laugh out loud.
Jessica Jones: Blind Spot #3 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Mattia De Iulis (art) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Now this is a much more enjoyable murder mystery than Batman's Grave. I know exactly what's happening because Kelly Thompson recaps as the investigation continues. There's even an extended 5-page fight scene where Jessica and Elsa Bloodstone fight creatures from the Black Lagoon but it isn't boring because they're bantering about the case all the while. The rest of this 6-issue mini can't come out fast enough for me.
Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy #6 - Jody Houser (writer) Adriana Melo (pencils) Mark Morales (inks) Hi-Fi (colours) Gabriela Downie (letters). Harley and Ivy's adventure comes to an end with a battle between good and evil Ivy. I liked how they left the fate of Poison Ivy a mystery. Who knows how she'll act the next time she sees Harley?
X-Force #7 - Benjamin Percy (writer) Oscar Bazaldua (art) Guru-eFX (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). This issue features Domino who was rescued from the bad guys recently. The bad guys managed to steal her good luck powers and have transferred them to someone else. This newly empowered individual is an assassin going around killing mutant supporters. Neena's not too happy about that. I wasn't too surprised by the reveal of the assassin's identity on the last page but I'm sure some new fans will be.
X-Men #6 - Jonathan Hickman (writer) Matteo Buffagni (art) Sunny Gho (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). This issue features Mystique. She's my favourite shape-shifter. She's sent on a mission to infiltrate the space station designed to fight against the mutants. I liked how the flashbacks merged with this story to culminate at the ominous last page.
The Immortal Hulk #31 - Al Ewing (writer) Joe Bennett (main story pencils) Ruy Jose, Belardino Brabo & Cam Smith (main story inks) Paul Mounts (main story colours) Javier Rodriguez (McGowan sequence pencils & colours) Alvaro Lopez (McGowan sequence inks) VC's Cory Petit (letters). We get into the heads of Scientist McGowan and the Hulk this issue. Matters of the mind shouldn't surprise fans what with Xemnu being in this story.
The Amazing Spider-Man #39 - Nick Spencer (writer) Iban Coello (art) Brian Reber (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). This issue reminded me of the Odd Couple, Oscar and Felix. Spider-Man agrees to be a guest on Jonah's podcast and sparks fly as the two antagonists butt heads. It's all talk radio until the super villain crashes the party. Next issue should be less talk  and more action.
Superman: Heroes #1 - Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction & Greg Rucka (writers) Kevin Maguire, Mike Perkins, Steve Lieber, Mike Norton & Scott Godlewski (art) Paul Mounts, Gabe Eltaeb, Andy Troy & Nathan Fairbairn (colours) Troy Peteri, Clayton Cowles & Simon Bowland (letters). This $5.99 US one-shot is tied-in quite closely with what's been going on in Action Comics & Superman. It looks at the consequences of Superman revealing his secret identity and it's well worth reading.
Doctor Strange #3 - Mark Waid (writer) Kev Walker (art) Java Tartaglia (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). This is a great one issue story if you want to check this new run out. Doctor Strange fights an artistic demon to save lives.
Gwen Stacy #1 - Christos Gage (writer) Todd Nauck (art) Rachelle Rosenberg (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). I liked this better than The Amazing Mary Jane maybe because it deals with a younger high school aged Gwen. This story takes place before Gwen and Peter become friends and lovers and involves her father Captain Stacy and his investigation of New York's mob. There are a trio of bad guys that you'll recognise but the big deal super villains don't show up until the last page. If they don't get you to pick up the next issue, nothing will.
Batman: Pennyworth R.I.P. #1 - James Tynion IV & Peter J. Tomasi (writers) Eddy Barrows & Eber Ferreira, Chris Burnham, Marcio Takara, Diogenes Neves, David Lafuente and Sumit Kumar (art) Adriano Lucas, Rex Lokus & Nathan Fairbairn (colours) Travis Lanham & Thomas Napolitano (letters). This one-shot tribute to Alfred shows us what a dysfunctional family Bruce has created. I would have preferred a more touching send off to this beloved character like the one Brian Michael Bendis wrote for Ultimate Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Damian, Tim, Jason and Barbara reminisce about the butler and then Ric Grayson chimes in with a story about Nightwing. Who the heck is Ric Grayson? I thought Alfred deserved better than this.
Nebula #1 - Vita Ayala (writer) Claire Roe (art) Mike Spicer (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). I'm ambivalent when it comes to this cyborg killer but I wanted to see if that might change by reading this 5-issue mini. She finds a scientist who has built a device that can predict the future and has him implant it so it's integrated into her cybernetic system. The untested tech winds up screwing with her head. I didn't change my opinion of Nebula with this first issue and I can see where the rest of the story is going so I'll leave the rest on the racks.
Superman #20 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Ivan Reis, Joe Prado & Oclair Albert (art) Alex Sinclair & Jeremiah Skipper (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). There's action: Superman dukes it out with Mongul. There's drama: The Daily Star is trying to discredit Clark, Lois and the Daily Planet. And there's a surprise appearance of an old friend. There's everything a good comic book needs to grab my attention and want to keep reading.
Marvels X #2 - Alex Ross & Jim Krueger (writers) Well-Bee (art) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I was fooled by the truck driver who picked up the kid because of the red beard, sunglasses and No Fear baseball cap. I thought it was Matt Murdock in disguise but I was surprised by who it actually was. Daredevil does turn up later in this issue as he and Spider-Man help to keep David safe. The kid's important because he could help find a cure for what's infecting humanity.
