“General Blade, thank you for allowing us to come along,” Welt says.
He looks at the Arbiter-General of the Loufu, General Blade. Welt is familiar with his reputation. The Arbiter-Generals are nothing to scoff at, able to take on Nanook’s Lord Ravagers by themselves.
Welt counts themselves lucky that General Blade was willing to listen to their story. They didn’t willingly wander onto the Loufu after all, and they definitely weren’t behind the Stellaron Crisis on the Loufu. But their arrival is rather suspicious through certain eyes. Welt knows what it must look like.
Based on what Welt knows, General Blade is cold. He is a man of no nonsense. His words hold weight, few as they are and the destruction he leaves in his wake exceeds the rest of the Arbiter-Generals. He is not a man to be trifled with.
Welt knows now that rumors are… not exactly true. General Blade is cold, yes, but he burns cold. He’s like a steel blade forges in the coldest fire, tempered ice steel. You cannot look at him and expect ice, no, he burns and burns and burns.
It’s a contradiction and Welt wonders what could have happened to make him so.

“Yup,” Ichigo said with cheer.

Hi! I recently got into reading some of your fanfics via Ao3 and ff.net. I instantly fell in love with Ayame and her chaotic nature. I was wondering if it would be possible if we could get a overview on her and her many abilities. If possible of course, Pls and thank you!
ANON YOU HAVE MADE MY *DAY*
I'm always down to talk about Ayame!
As a character, Ayame has basically 2 rules.
Nothing is impossible for her*
She's stronger and smarter than anyone else.
*There are things that she won't do and thus will lie to your face and say it's impossible. If it's truly impossible, then it's like... "shatter reality if it's done" type possible and then survival > "it's possible" wins.
Because I toss her into multiple fandoms, she always scales a little with said fandom. And as I discovered with the KNY fic with her, putting her in fandom where the balance is off makes for a boring fic.
Ayame (Tier and Asher too) whole concept is to be the most OP, curbstomping, there's nothing they can't do, type characters. They have their strengths and weakness of course. Tier and Asher essentially fill in the gaps in Ayame and vice versa. There's no limit, except perhaps some logical limits.
For example, it's not impossible for Ayame to build a time machine, but if you need a time machine RIGHT THIS INSTANT, she can't just snap her fingers and have on made instantly. She might come up with the design right away, but between testing and physically having to build one, it'll take days. (Or a day at least)
Abilities
Ayame's base kit includes
Sight
Onmyodo
Portals
Sight, despite it's name, is not reliant on sight only. wwbtf is the only fic I wrote that really goes into it, but essentially just like how shrimp can see colors we can't, Ayame's view on the world is a little more skewed than others. She sees/hears/feels/senses/tastes/smells things we can't. Goes from anything from ghosts to fate strings to seeing the future and past to dreams to aura and more.
Onmyodo, Ayame grew up on a shrine. Her father was a powerful priest. So she's got all the normal rituals, basic purification and blessings and more down.
Portals, Ayame has the ability to anywhere she wants to be.
That's it. No, seriously. That's it.
Ayame's OPness comes from the fact that the "power system" from her world is highly flexible and compatible AND Ayame understands the truth of the system on top of being a genius.
FFXV calls it magic, KHR calls it Dying Will Flames, at the end of the day, to Ayame, it's a type of energy that you produce from your soul and since she produces that type of energy, she can use any technique you use with higher efficiency and more power and better understanding probably.
And when it comes to raw output of that same energy, she got more than anyone else in the entire universe.
But what about the gravity power she always uses in fics?
That's Engetsu's power :D
And her weapon?
:D

-Last Time-
“I suggest you wake up.”
Alain felt a sharp pain, as if someone had yanked at his hair. The world of white shattered, replaced with a house that he didn’t recognize. Alain struggled, realizing his limbs had been tied, his body ached.
And there, the one grabbing his hair, was Volo.
“Rise and shine!” Volo greeted with a chirp.
“Volo?” Alain asked. What was going on? Why was he tied up? Why was Volo here?
A wicked grin spread across Volo’s face. “Good morning, Arceus’ Chosen One.”
-.-.-
He felt grimy and dirty, as if he had been dragged through the mud. A quick glance down at himself suggested that it did happen.
Alain grit his teeth as he looked up at Volo. “Why are you doing this, Volo?” he demanded.
Volo laughed.
Alain tried not to flinch, not liking the look in Volo’s eyes. There was a manic gleam, so focused on whatever his goal was, not looking at the world around him.
He used to look like that, didn’t he?

“—surely you can do better than an old man like me,” Jing Yuan says with a self-deprecating smile. “You shouldn’t settle for me.” Slowly, ever so slowly, the realization drops for Dan Heng. Jing Yuan has no idea. Jing Yuan has absolutely no idea that he is an absolute catch, that he has been the Loufu’s Most Eligible bachelor for 600+ years. (OR Dan Heng confesses. Jing Yuan thinks Dan Heng can do better than him. Dan Heng would like to prove that is ABSOLUTELY not the case here.)

let there be light, let there be light, let me be alright 01
Post-Phantylia fight, Jing Yuan wakes up as a shell of his former self. A quiet, sullen man who frowns too much. It worries everyone that something has gone wrong.
-.-.-
“You’re not acting like yourself,” Bailu says. What did she miss?! What did she forget?! “I told you to stay in bed and you’re staying in bed!”
She always orders Jing Yuan to rest in bed after he gets hurt and he never listens to her! He always tries to sneak out the minute she turns her back. Can you imagine her shock when she left an hour ago and came back to find him still here?
Is he more injured than she thought? Was his wound from Phantylia’s fight so bad that he’s actually listening to her? No? He was hurt more badly during the war and he was still sneaking out the window then? Did she mix up the ointments? Was there something he wasn’t telling her? Was it mental? She couldn’t heal mental!
The more she thinks about it, the more it distresses her.
“Do you not want me to?” Jing Yuan asks.
Bailu wants to break down crying. “No! Yes! I mean it’s very important you get your rest, but you don’t normally listen to me like that?!”
Jing Yuan just frowns harder. She’s never seen him frown this much before, not this deeply. He frowns as if he never smiles, like a frown is permanently etched into his skin. It breaks her heart and upsets her more.
“Why wouldn’t I listen to you?” Jing Yuan says.
It’s too much. “Did you hit your head too while fighting Phantylia?” she wails. “Why are you so different?”
Jing Yuan falls silent.

Before Dawn
Tyrant-General Jing Yuan. He has ruled with an iron fist the Luofu for centuries. Fu Xuan, the rebellion leader, wants nothing more than to drag him down from his golden throne.
Eventually she does.
But the truth behind everything is so much more horrible when it comes to light
(Or KHR fusion, where everyone has Dying Will Flames and you must ask yourself, what does it take to break a Sky?)
-.-.-
The seat of Divine Foresight is destroyed, pillar crumbling, the tatter red material of banners fluttering down the ground. The lion statues overturned, the trees fell. The ceiling has gone, consumed by the black hole that Welt had summoned. The bodies of Cloud Knights and Rebels lay across the floor, dead or dying, their crimson blood staining the gray tiles.
Fu Xuan steps forward, the broken glass crunches beneath her feet. She is exhausted but she will not waver.
She is a Sky Flame user and blessed with secondary Lightning Flames. She’s the rebellion’s leader, having spent centuries trying to save the Luofu. She sees through the omniscia, diviniting and foretelling, manipulating quantum energy with her skills. She is Fu Xuan and she’s here to finish their centuries-long fight.
Tyrant-General, Jing Yuan.
He has been Luofu's longest serving General, the source of their nightmares, long before Fu Xuan was born. He has ruled with an iron fist. The monitoring of the public, surveillance at every corner, policing people’s actions, thoughts, intentions. No one dares to speak, no one dares to lift their head. The gap between the wealthy and poor increases with every year. They’re a rich country, people shouldn’t be starving but they are. Things look pretty, beautiful, but the rot behind the curtain is so obvious.
Cloud Knights drag off people who they think might cause trouble. People are encouraged to sell each other out, waiting for any suspicious activity. Life saving medicine is tightly controlled, alchemy healers, every single Sun Flame user born, are practically enslaved, not able to leave their posts the minute they’re assigned to that commission. The Vidyadhara and Foxians are deprived of their high elders, their leaders. Their unique culture and traditions were wiped away, forgotten in the past. The distribution of food water is controlled. Curfew is enacted, media tightly controlled. People vanish without warning. Those with Sky Flames vanish more often than any other group.
The IPC smiles nervously, and looks the other way. The contracts they have with the Luofu, their desire for profits keeps them obedient and unwilling to extend a helping hand to the rebellion. Fu Xuan doesn’t know why the rest of the Xianzhou Alliance turns a blind eye, why Marshal Hua won’t intervene but they do not.
A rebellion is the only way.

dolls are just plastic corpses
“Elio!” Blade roars.
Elio turns in his chair, unfazed by Blade’s outburst. He merely smiles. “Welcome back!”
Blade seethes. The anger inside of him roars like a dragon, claws at his heart with sharp talons.
“You did not,” he says, punctuating every word, “say the package I was retrieving was him.”
Elio blinks. “Ah, you brought him back here.”
Blade steps aside to give Elio a clear view of the “package”.
Sitting there, across the room, was a quiet, lifeless, empty doll. Green eyes are dull, lightless, like cloudy jade. The shackles around his wrists and ankles are thick and heavy, the skin behind them distorted and warped, a clear sign that they have been on for a long time. A thick collar is wrapped around his neck. Weeping blood spills from the wounds caused by the countless needles that pierced his body before Blade pulled out. And worse, this doll wears Dan Feng’s familiar face.

set it free
You're not supposed to be able to betray your Sky. That's not how it works, that's not what is supposed to happen.
And yet it did.
Jing Yuan blames himself, really. If he was better, stronger, could he have kept them? Maybe that's why they say don't court Elements who are much older than you, who learned to live without you. (But he never wants to be their cage. He's self aware enough to know that from a certain viewpoint, the relationship between a Sky and an Element can be a little... predatory. A Sky doesn't make themselves the most important person in their Elements' life without a little bit of guilt. If they do it without guilt, then they’re a horrible Sky.)
So they leave him behind, one by one. Baiheng goes first, not because of betrayal but because worse, death. Jingliu, his master, falls to mara and its insanity and nothing Jing Yuan does can get through to her. To this day, Jing Yuan doesn’t understand the motivations behind Yingxing’s betrayal or Dan Feng’s sedition, but they're gone, slipping through his fingers like trying to catch water.
And just like that he is alone.
Is a Sky really a Sky if there are no Elements?
(Or KHR fusion, where everyone on the Xianzhou has Dying Will Flames and Jing Yuan is a Sky who was just abandoned by all of his Elements. It's fine, this is fine. He doesn't want to trap them, but... it's just... lonely, is all.)

pound it into the marrow of your bones
There were two containers. One as chosen. The other was not.
Make a choice that you won't regret.
Kafka: You didn't mention that I would be choosing which one to save and which one to sacrifice Elio: because then you wouldn't have made a choice at all.
-.-.-
How many beginnings can a story have?
There once was a wise man who asked his daughter that question. And true fashion, with all the might that only a child could say, she scolded him and called him silly because there can only be one beginning and one ending for that was simply how real life worked.
But the truth is so much further from that.
For Stelle, her beginning began on a space station. To waking up to meet her future family, to a fading memory of a woman with magenta purple hair, to joining the Astral Express and seeing the universe with her own two eyes, to danger lurking around the corner and a dangerous weapon buried inside of her.
For Stelle, her very first beginning was gone, erased. Nothing remained of it, beyond fond, warm feelings. A hand much bigger than hers pulling her along, a laugh and smile she couldn’t remember. Lingering, forgotten, and yet knowing so deep.
“Make a choice that you won’t regret.”
“Did you know this would happen, Kafka?” Stelle whispered so bitterly.

Falling Harder
Dan Feng was a dear close friend, but never someone Jing Yuan fell in love with.
Dan Heng immediately steals his breath away.
Jing Yuan doesn’t believe in love at first sight (and arguably this is the second time he’s met Dan Heng) but this is a damn near thing.
So he thinks he’s forgiven when, instead of the planned subtle manipulative pleading to get Dan Heng to help out with the situation with Phantylia, the first thing out of his mouth is, “Marry me.”
“What?” Dan Heng said.
Fuck.

“Ah,” Dan Heng says. He is familiar with the species name at least. (One… might say he was a little obsessive with studying everything related to the Xianzhou Alliance.) “Heliobi are energy lifeforms, Starfire Essence, a shapeless species that… is known for possessing and consuming their hosts.”
He doesn’t want to judge without knowing all the facts but that is alarming.
“I didn’t eat A-Yuan!” LeeLee protests. “We coexist!”
“Do you?” Dan Heng questions. “Are you the side of Jing Yuan that smiles, the general who likes to tease and trap his enemies with flawless strategies?”
LeeLee shuffles, looking away. “Those are A-Yuan’s strategies most of the time.”
He did not deny the rest. So then, it’s very simple. Lightning Lord must be “in-control” of Jing Yuan most of the time. The most outward personality, the friendly, bright Arbiter-General who most of the Luofu knows is in fact Lightning Lord.
That is… puzzling. Why is Lightning Lord “in-control” of Jing Yuan all the time? To the point where no one but Dan Heng seems to realize that there are “two” Jing Yuans?
“I give up the control freely,” Jing Yuan says softly, as if reading Dan Heng’s unspoken question.
That’s even more alarming to Dan Heng.

-Last Time-
“Perhaps, a history lesson to start?” Welt offers.
Dan Heng sighs. “Yes, perhaps if I start from the very beginning. It will make more sense.”
He looks up at the dragon that sits perched on the Lair. It stares back down at him, looking fierce at first glance, but it’s gentle to Dan Heng. It’s been millenia since Dan Heng has seen this face, but… he remembers it all the same.
“Let’s start with the story of Long.”
-.-.-
There once was a dragon, with scales that shimmer like rainbows under the light. They started off small, and then grew and grew and grew until they looped their entire homeworld once from head to tail.
At first, the ocean they called home was large and grand. Exploring every nook and cranny until they knew it like the back of their tail. Then came the boredom. There was nothing left to explore, far too big for their home.
So they turned their gaze to the stars.
Thus began Long’s journey through the galaxy.
The universe was young then.
Long traveled, seeking, exploring, growing. They saw many things, hundreds of thousands of different worlds, so many different species. Some were old hands at this space traveling, others were mere fledglings, learning how to fly.
They flew through the galaxy, seeing all that changed and all that didn’t. Planets spun, the stars drifted, and yet every planet had a morning, an evening. Every new discovery brought the simple question: “why do they exist?”
It was a question full of wonder.
It was a question that damned them.

Diamond Crossing
So, here’s the thing. Elesa’s best friend is a little…weird.
She means it in the nicest way possible. But there’s no getting around the fact that Coop is weird.
Their mood swings are all over the place, very serious at one moment and unhinged child at the next. They sprouted train facts at the drop of the hat, insisted on not only being in charge of Gear Station but taking it a step further and turning Gear Station into the Battle Subway. They’re honestly crazy for that alone.
Elesa does her modeling career on top of being a Gym Leader and a lot of people think she’s crazy. She will argue that it’s nothing compared to Coop running the entire transportation system for Nimbasa City on top of being a Battle Facility.
She adores Coop though. She really means it when she says Coop is her best friend. And no matter how crazy Coop comes across as, she knows Coop won't hurt anyone.
("Well, there are exceptions, of course," Coop says, tone serious and expression set to a frown. "We don’t allow unruly passengers for starters." They then smiled, brightening. "And anyone who makes Elesa cry will be tied to the train track and run over." )
So right, Coop, a little crazy but Elesa adores them to pieces.
Then Coop went missing one day.
And instead of grief at the disappearance of her best friend, Elesa feels fear.
Fear for the world.
Because Coop is now a train off its tracks, speeding full steam ahead.

using legends to reshape me, using agony to reforge me 09
Dan Heng runs.
And for once, Jing Yuan fails to follow. He is frozen, rooted in place. March and Stelle dash after Dan Heng, following him out the door.
Nausea and horror bubbles inside of Jing Yuan. His head spins.
He didn't know.
Despite obtaining the General position, he hadn't been allowed into the Ten Lords Commission when they had finally captured Dan Feng. He hadn't been present for the initial sentencing as well.
But he had seen the footage.
It still haunts him to this day.

Oda wanted to ask if she was alright, but he already knew the answer. Shirusu would just smile and insist she was fine. She wasn’t. That much was obvious.
He was starting to hate those words: “I’m fine.”
“Hey,” he said, resting a hand on her shoulder. “If you ever want to just talk, I’m a great listener.”
Shirusu gave him a puzzled look, head tilting to the side. “What?”
“If you want to just talk about whatever is on your mind,” Oda said. “I’ll listen. I promise.” He was a great listener.
Shirusu’s puzzled look only deepened. She didn’t understand.
“What?” she repeated.
