Can u tell us about Baxel? How did ey come to be?

Lore-wise, Baxel was originally commissioned as a test-tube baby by their parents (common practice, esp for those who are sterile/don't have means of natural reproduction) and was only suppose to have the DNA Slug and Broaden- however, fe ended up being illegally modified by their bio-engineer, and was later even stolen by said engineer, raised as their own kid after they claimed skull died due to complications. Parents and child continued not knowing the other existed for 16 or so years, until Baxel got involved in a bunch of stuff that led vox to learning about their conception, as well as about the species they're related to.

Baxel's "bonus" modifications included the addition of Lumid, Glix and Sabergrit dna, which coupled with the Seikorg and Grokie dna from Slug, made them a rare and unique mix that's also potential cause for corporate conflict. See, the 5 aforementioned species are technically copyrighted, super secret, artificially created, and incredibly destructive creations of bio companies that went missing a couple years back. Not only do/did the creators hate each other, but they kept them a secret to deter copycats, and to perfect them until they could be weaponized. Most of these species ended up breaking away from their birth companies but, for one reason or another they maintain their secrecy and few know about their existence at all. The bio-engineer who "created" Baxel use to work for these companies and managed to steal some samples/ building instructions, hoping to create something really powerful with a five-way amalgamate, something that would rival all species in raw ability. As Baxel grew though, the engineer's disappointment turned into verbal abuse and skull ended up running away at age 16, getting imself into a bunch of shenanigans and potentially stopping an apocalyptic war.

#baxel isnt powerful but their dna lets them bypass a bunch of company locks and secrets so thats cool. plus they get some cool abilities #as for how Slug got out when their species is suppose to be in isolation #they were stuck in a time-out cell for being a nuisance while Broaden snuck in as a reporter and got captured #and they both escaped to avoid Broaden from getting eaten and for Slug to hide some mysterious documents they stole #thats also how they became a couple so that all leads up to Baxel being born #anyways sorry if thats confusing hope that answered ur quesion tho #lore #baxel #sabergrits #grokies #seikorg #glix #lumids #ocs #my art

i am Obsessed with your carnivorous slugs can you please tell us more about them? are they slimy? do they eat any meat or just a specific species?

OK HOPE YOU DON'T MIND BUT I TOOK THIS OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A WHOLE BUNCH OF ART AND INFODUMP SO HERE WE GO

So I made these guys (Grokies) way back in 2013 and they're basically artificially mutated slugs, human-level intelligence, pan-carnivorous (aka they eat anything meat-based) and they're ravenous little fuckers. They usually look something like this:

But some also get fun body types like these!

Anyway, most of their population lives underground in an abandoned. Cavern? Laboratory? And they have this culture of leading fast-paced and reckless lives bc they only live 5 years so a perpetual yolo mentality- which makes it hard to deal with em bc they’re fast, hard to kill (they can regenerate stuff), and willing to throw themselves in dangerous situations bc death doesn’t scare em. They’re very disorganized as a group but they ARE in a monarchy, or rather they’re “lead” by a single prince who goes thru a constant cycle of death and rebirth. This is him:

Giru-Tiru lives 1 year at a time, annually dying then regenerating as a newborn. He’s essentially a perpetual baby, getting his memory wiped with every rebirth, but big events and important information stay locked deep in his subconscious and resurface whenever needed. Royal grokies can live 100-200 years like this and are selected to rule for this reason- although they still need designated Royal Caretaker™ to help them navigate the world, being children and all.

Some final Grokie facts before I talk a bit about their relatives: some Grokies grow fur/manes, they have very specific naming conventions (although they can be broken if one feels rebellious enough), bio parents don't normally raise their bio kids, and since u asked: yes they are gooey/slimey, but I think I’d describe their skin as more amphibious than actually slug-like.

Anyways, Grokies do share the other half of the cavern with their cousin species the Seikorg, which are snail based!! They look like this:

They don’t have as many body varieties as Grokies, are bigger and slower, almost never eat (they actually eat once in their life during a designated “splurgefest”), more defense than offence, and live twice as long. They have a human-like culture of taking their time and pursuing multiple hobbies/interests/etc, and probably have a direct democracy (not sure yet).

(I WILL note, when I say something like culture or mindset or a division of living space, I don’t mean to imply they’re species specific- many Seikorg and Grokies intermingle and even live together, really just consider it a division of life outlooks/ philosophies/ lifestyles. One cavern side is “yolo” and the other is “take ur time”, and you live whichever suits you best. There’s just a majority of each species that happens to prefers one over the other, due to how long they get to live).  

Anyways, the overall relationship with their cousin species is complex-ish, (like some Seikorg avoid getting to know/ attached to Grokies because they live for such a short time and vice versa), but there’s still plenty of amicability and they have a pact of mutual aid, should the other be attacked.  Here’s a height chart!

And here’s an extra fun fact- Seikorg + Grokie halfling babies exist! I won’t explain everything about the reproduction process, but they don’t actually do it naturally- just kinda toss everything into a giant vat and get children conceived artificially. Halflings are cool because they can get ANY traits of ANY species and they’re essentially a wild card- can live between 7 years and 20! Here’s some examples:

Who's the royal caretaker?? What r they like......

i’ve actually posted them b4! They’re Tibu-Ribu

He’s basically the nerd archetype, aka a timid doormat who acts like Giru-Tiru’s parent and tries to juggle their home life with royal duties. Sometimes both collide, since their dad (GreenHouse) is a Seikorg ambassador, making meetings and negotations kinda awkward. Fun fact, only reason they got the job was because of their “magnus” form- a state that’s only accessible (with lots of training) by those suffering Total De-regenerative Phlem Disease. It’s a last resort but in a pinch, they can turn into a gargantuan slime-monster and wreck havoc- fufilling the requirment for royal caretakers to double as bodyguards. Otherwise though, Tibu-Ribu is one of the most docile grokies around, next to Vidi-o.

That 20 y/o slug/snail peep musta been like a fuckin. Ancient to all of them. Wise old peep who's seen mamy generations come and go,,

AKVEJSVEJEVWJ I wouldn't call him wise, he mostly turned out to be a huge grumpy asshole who spends all his days pretending to be a rabbit to fool livestock/cows into letting him near them and then fucking eating them all therefore being the nightmare of every farmer in the area

#to be fair though he ditched the place where most of the grokies/seikorgs lived when he was like middleaged #so nobody of his kind has really seen him long enough to know he ended up living so long

Grokie and Seikorg existance politics r so funky like. Essentially they're an artificially created superpredator that eats every and all meat and was also designed to be constantly hungry and hard to kill while also have human level intelligence. So like they're a very unstable element that can't be seamlessly inserted into the natural lifecycle/coexist with other species, considering they're at risk of eating everyone and then starving themselves after doing so (a world ending species if you will which is VERY illegal). But they're also self-aware enough to know this so they have officially created a pact of isolation and self-monitorization with the other species, so they all live in an isolated area with self-regulated baby numbers while Grokie and Seikorg's own scientists steadily modify each generation to gradually decrease their naturally hunger levels and etc so that eventually they can actually coexist and interact with others without danger. There's more to all this and idk if this makes any sense to anyone but idk I've been thinking a lot about them

#they also had a survival mechanic implimented where the more a seikorg/grokie likes something #the worse it tastes. so its difficult for them to mantain a healthy relationship with their food if they also have compassion for it #so most of the public on both ends isnt inherently notified about each others existance. seikorgs/grokies live in a hole in the ground so #everything that falls in essentially becomes fair game. its the only way the small hypergastropod population gets food #again im rambling and idk how much sense this makes but its less like. oh scary monster mutants r killing everyone thats so scary #its like. a lot more animals/creatures here are human-level sentient and coexist with others #and artificially creating species is possible although highly monitored bc if they arent meant to fufill some ecological niche #then they become unsuited to exist in the world theyre born into which is a huge stress on everyone #themselves especially. so its discouraged from being widley practiced #but these kind of species still happen and theres always an effort to find ways to accomidate them into the environment #cuz yknow they didnt ask to be born its the fault of the bioengineers that wanted to fufill some power fantasy or art project #so grokie/seikorgs and everyone rlse dont hate or fear each other necissarily. theyre kinda neutral towards each other #like they understand its complicated #theres so much seriously i dont even know if anyone understands what im saying
