hmm…
aster of the fae
- stolen by a human as a young faerie during a great war the kingdom once had against the fae
- raised in seclusion by a gentle, loving mother who wholeheartedly believes in magic and has never tried to snuff out her light
- no father. none. bye.
- kept away from all people as means of protection
- one of the only few surviving fae from the war, she is unaware if any of her kind are left. she has never seen another faerie
- lives in a little cottage at the edge of the woods. lots of baskets and berries and cotton dresses and goats and bunnies and stuff
- eventually her mother ages and dies. WAH WAH
- left completely to her own devices she sets out into the world. she is well aware of what she is and she has somewhat harnessed her powers in healing and controlling nature
- she is easily swarmed by humans and they are fascinated by her. she is brought before a new king, a great-grandson of the previous king who started the war
- she is mistaken for a goddess and worshipped as such, placed on a pedestal she does not want and didn’t ask for
- lives in the palace for several decades. centuries maybe? never grows old etc etc and because of this the belief in her is only strengthened
- her story devolves into myth, into legend, she can be found in ancient script and scrolls
- she eventually runs away. there’s an uproar. crops begin to die and the kingdom is turned into a realm of forever winter. it never recovers in her absence
- the kingdom is frozen in time. it remains there to modern day. ashamed of the damage she’s done, she places a spell on the kingdom in order to hide it from other humans. it is empty and desolate.
- OPTION 1: she haunts the kingdom and stays there forever in order to try to undo what she has done to this land
- OPTION 2: she explores the world and makes it to modern day, still seeking her own kind wherever she goes

Glazefairy's Heart
Tumblr media
[Lines by Mod Melia, Coloring by Mod TX]
"BEWARE OF THE BOUNDLESS EXPANSE AS NOW IT AWAKES FROM IT'S TRANCE WITH EYES FULL OF FEAR AND NO SPELL THAT'S NEAR WE'LL BE DESTROYED BY THE DREAMING DANCE…"
"I am sorry.. there is something you must see before you awake."
What sits before Sphinxtongue now is.. fading. A rounded crack in the soft grassy field, the edges of which make the flora translucent. Sharp lines that suggest its growth spread out like a stone broken against the earth. The space is dark, about the size of a rabbit's den entrance, endless in its empty void.
"Please, do not get close to it."
The smell of stale water and cold stone hit his nose. Strong from this perceived broken piece of the Seelie Court's 'ground' despite this realm being beyond physical manifestation. Darkness radiates a grey aura that feels utterly wrong down to the bone. He can feel the ache it creates in his mortal body. Rock underneath his body that he left behind. His vision is flickering, his mind churning to get away from reality. Glazefairy calls out to him,
"Tell them. The dream is starting to end!" Sphinxtongue wakes up.
… …
The dance slows and the dream is starting to shed from the mind. Glazefairy had faced this situation once before. Bloomclan was losing faith and their connection with the Fae began to dissipate. However he has never seen the Seelie Court in this state before. Cracks and holes have begun to appear around the land leading to an endless darkness no faerie wants to enter. Faced with the threat of the Court disappearing into darkness entirely, he and the Seelie have reached out to the Medics of the Clans for their assistance in restoring their precious Court to its stability once more.
However this task is no simple feet. Artifacts gifted to the clans do not spell out the problem. The clans only have theories to what the cause is, spanning from the Dancer and Dreamer destroying their own creation to the 'dream' being far more literal than initially perceived. What ever the case may be, investigations are slow going..
This will not last. It is up to you to figure out how to save your Court. More cats are becoming aware of the threat they face. Will you be the one to help prevent this catastrophe?
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FROM JUNE 14TH TO JUNE 28TH

This is Myantha she’s Filonyn’s ex-best-friend with whom who they are currently in the process of a 500+ year catastrophic relationship implosion but they still have to hang out despite absolutely hating each other because since they’ve known each other for so long it would be a huge scandal if they refused to be near each other and neither of them is willing to deal with the repercussions of that

Jessamine’s family, of Queen Titania’s Seelie Court
How shall I describe all their summer senses?
- Ren, a firework explosion on a hot summer night
- Leaf, pelting friends with water balloons in a park, then enjoying a snow cone
- Quill, just a hint of summer’s heat; more like taking a refreshing dip into cool spring waters
- Blodwyn, a summer shower where the sky is grey but the air is still steamy and wet
- Sylvain, finding relief from the heat in a quaint coffeeshop with air conditioning
- Zinniana, the first touch of autumn’s arrival, a breeze of cold air and the smell of pumpkin spice. a welcoming warmth like a hearth.
And Jessamine herself, showing up with a case of beer, ready for a spontaneous road trip to the beach.

Sometimes I'll open the comments of a community post or a YouTube video on the Stabbyness channel and I'll see like. A mildly foreboding comment without looking at who sent it and I'm like oh? Foreboding commenter? And then I check the name and it's the fucking Seelie YouTube rp account and I'm like CILICIA OLET OF CLEAR SKIES THE FOREBODING COMMENTER???

What kind of stuff do you picture Hyacinth wearing?
her appearance honestly changes in my imagination all the time... sometimes she's wearing long, plain robes like the elves in LOTR sometimes she's in something like a Tinkerbell tutu situation sometimes she's in more of a Glinda the Good Witch Mega-Tutu sometimes she's dressed like the druids in Baldur's Gate (with leaves and stuff), including birch bark and hyacinth blossoms sometimes i think of her with a little pixie cut like this and sometimes she has long, flowy, wispy hair sometimes her hair is white. sometimes it's blue. blue/lavender is really her color for sure but I will tell you a secret: she has a (whatever the fantasy/medieval version is of a) hoodie that sorah left behind for her

Seelie Prince Yeosang
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeosang is a timid bht pretty Fae and third to the Seelie throne. Known for his talent to create light and ability with a sword, he isn't a main character. Preferring to stay in the background as much as possible. A pacifist, who faints at the sight of blood. He prefers to only fight if he needs too and spend time reading at the pond or tending to his bountiful garden.

Faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust awaits you in Swynlake, a magical town in England whose enchanted forest calls to pixies and elves alike. What stories will you weave in the Pixie Hollow, the forest, and in town?
Queen Clarion (Queen Clarion, Tinkerbell) - You love your Hollow and your pixies more than anything and would do anything to secure their safety. Some of your pixies think you should take your leadership to the Big Leagues -- running for town Board -- but you're apprehensive. Will you make a decision in time for next election cycle?
Nyx Quillspear (Nyx, Tinkerbell) - With your quick wit, sharp spear, and poison tongue, nobody messes with your Hollow. As the Captain of the scout talent fairies, it is your duty to make sure the Pixie Hollow of Enchantra is surviving and thriving and that your Scouts are up to the task!
Flora Periwinkle (Flora, Sleeping Beauty) - It's not that you don't like being a fairy-- on the contrary! You are very proud to be a fairy and you even love being a Garden Talent. However, when your entire family are also Garden Talents, and brilliant ones at that, sometimes it's easier to chart your own path in town than live up to them in the Hollow.
Lord Milori (Lord Milori, Tinkerbell) - A pixie's pride are their wings; treasured beyond any other physical feature, washed with care and expertise by Wing-washing Talents, the wings make the pixie. What happens when a pixie can no longer use their wings? What is a pixie King of all pixies without his wings? You wonder if its even possible for your refuge in the Pixie Hollow of Enchantra to help you shake your shame. Perhaps you will always just be a fallen pixie king.
Shuǐ Silvermist (Silvermist, Tinkerbell) - Since coming to the Enchantra Hollow, all your family has wanted to do was prove that they are a part of the Enchantra community. Everyone has fit in seamlessly but you want to do more than fit in. You want to catch the attention and praise of the Queen!
Gretchen Grundler (Gretchen, Recess) - It's not your fault you were born with elvish, superhuman smarts, but boy does it feel like it is. After being accused of cheating at your last university, you've come to Pride U where you hope you'll be able to reign in your magic successfully this time. But this is a magick safe haven town...do you even have to anymore?

Kane Thorn | FC: Emma D’Arcy  | OPEN
Age: 400 Species: Faerie (Hob) Court: Seelie Occupation: Queen’s Bodyguard Gender: Non-binary Pronouns: They/Them
CW: Death, fire
Appearance
In the winter Kane allows their hair to grow out, pale blonde locks with the slightest curl skimming the top of their ears by the time the climate grows warm again. In the summer they shave their hair close to the scalp, leaving nothing but a blonde peach fuzz. For most days on duty they wear simple white robes of the magi, with a silver antler brooch pinned at the neck. However, on more ceremonial occasion, Kane does not decide what they wear, forced into something flashy and complimentary to the queen and her entourage. Kane despises this, feeling like a shiny trophy on display. In their free time they prefer simple and functional garb, but small details betray the high expense of them. Black is a regular color in Kane’s wardrobe, an uncommon thing a court filled with such vibrant color. Like most fae, Kane uses magic to sculpt their appearance to their desire. However, they never glamour the burn scars on their hands.
Kane is known by the public for their signature scowl, the faerie preferring to stand stoically over indulging a cheering crowd. Their guarded demeanor can unintentionally come off as aloof arrogance. But that air of mystery has, to their annoyance, earned Kane admirers. It is not uncommon for younger fae to view them as the fae version of a celebrity, with rockstar-like coolness.
Personality
Many are not sure what to make of the Kane, or what they stand for. They have grown skilled at saying things in diplomatic ways, often talking more in flowery circles than anything of substance when not in the company of trusted people. They are a mystery many have interest in cracking.  Although Kane goes through the elaborate motions of socializing at court, they are nearly always just as cordial as necessary. Emotions are a thing often played with, or used as leverage in Queen Mab’s court, and Kane learned long ago not to give others ammo. In reality there are many times they are hypervigilant and nervous behind that mask. Kane has spent much of their life feeling like a captive amongst the enemy. Much of their major life choices have been dictated by Queen Mab and her advisors since they became a ward of the crown. It is difficult to know who at court is trustworthy.
In Kane’s rare moments of vulnerability, many are surprised to find they have a tender heart, and a sharp tongue. It also becomes clear there is a sadness in them, that is slowly curdling into anger. Dreams of revenge linger in Kane’s head, often serving as a source of calm in difficult moments. Kane has always gravitated to darker forms of magic, illegal blood magic serving as their secret hobby and potential means to an end of servitude.
Background
Kane, and their identical twin, Clove, lived with their parents in a small home in the Artisan’s Quarter. Using their knowledge of local plants and minerals the Thorns created beautiful hand-dyed cotton and silk that they sold at a stall near home. Although twins’s gifts for magic presented early and unusually powerfully, Kane’s budding magic revealed itself in ways far more volatile and unpredictable than Clove’s. For a time the mundaneness of their existence shielded the twins from those who may have wanted to use their power. But that shield cracked the day a passing Seelie Magi caught sight of the twins playing with magic in the marketplace. Kane’s parents were hand delivered a letter on the twin’s 49th birthday ( 9 years old in human years), imploring them to release their children to the Seelie Magi. They declined. Mere weeks later Kane’s parents died in a house fire while the twins were on an errand. It was Kane who first came upon it first. They badly burned their hands while trying to free their parents, leaving permanent scars. Kane has always believed deep in their heart that Queen Mab was responsible for the accident.
The twins, now alone in the world, had little choice but to accept the “generosity” of the crown. The next few hundred years were a whirlwind of combat training by the Magi, paired with harsh lessons in the ways of court life. Clove thrived among the upper-crust, while Kane withdrew. Over the years, this point of contention fractured their once unbreakable bond, pushing them each to different sides. Common ground between them is only found on the sparring field. The Thorns have always been trained as a unit, learning a wordless synchronization when they fought. Crowds of Magi students would gather to watch them. In the end it seemed that Queen Mab got her perfect little weapons, molded to her uses.
When they ascended to full Magi, the twins were assigned as the Queen’s personal bodyguards, a high honor. While serving the Magi has always been framed as a choice, Kane feels certain if they ever tried to leave their post, the door would be bared. Kane finds something deeply unsettling and terrifying under the surface of Queen Mab’s kind smile. The twins have been heralded as some of the most powerful mages of their generation. But, Kane knows Queen Mab only sees them as expensive pawns.

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN FICTION AND REALITY. WHERE THE DEAD DANCE ENDLESSLY...
"Glazefairy…Glazefairy…!" A voice echoed in the distance, carried through the trees on birdsong and belief. Glazefairy continued staring peacefully into the sky, however, his pink eyes fixed onto a single point. "Glazefairy!" The medic heard a cat skid to a stop beside him, their ragged panting and swishing tail in the grass the only indication they were beside Glazefairy. Eventually, he turned to look at them. Before him stood a longhaired black bicolour molly with yellow eyes. Glazefairy smiled politely at Softbrush, ears twitching questioningly.
"Softbrush. What brings you here?" "I have bad news- terrible news!" "There is no bad news my friend" Softbrush bit her lip nervously, tail tip swishing to-and-fro. "Crescentmoon sent me to ask you about the comet." Glazefairy's expression soured. "That is bad news."
Shaking his fur out, Glazefairy turned back towards the comet streaking across the sky. It had appeared not too long ago in their skies, and set the wings of the fae aflutter with apprehension. The medics in the Seelie had been trying to decipher it's meaning since. "I've told xem once and I'll tell xem a thousand times! I just don't know ye-AGH!" Glazefairy boughed over in sudden pain. It was as if sunlight had lanced into his eyes, smashing into the back of his skull and sending his brain reeling. Flashes of colour and movement hit his thoughts. Images flooded him. An awakening, the fallen fae, the destruction of the Seelie Court. It all hit him in one moment, and Glazefairy felt himself topple over, as everything faded to black.
Softbrush leaned over him with a squeak of panic, licking his fur. "Glazefairy? Glazefairy! What did you see?!" His eyes opened, wide and bloodshot.
"BEWARE OF THE BOUNDLESS EXPANSE AS NOW IT AWAKES FROM IT'S TRANCE WITH EYES FULL OF FEAR AND NO SPELL THAT'S NEAR WE'LL BE DESTROYED BY THE DREAMING DANCE…"
Welcome to SOLSTICE an 18+ discord based WC RP. In the coming days we shall lead you through the clans, death and more as the rumbles of a dream threaten everything these cats know. Will you be able to keep the dream going?

speaking of jasmine bhullar, she and brennan had a great convo about min-maxers and i was wondering what your own thoughts on min-maxing were? i'm new-ish to actually playing dnd and i still worry about making myself a problem to the dm as opposed to an asset.
First off as someone who enjoys Adventuring Academy but never has the time to watch the full episodes, thank you for bringing this up - I watched just the debate, and it was incredible and hilarious.
This is a good question. I am 100% in agreement with Jasmine here and she said it better than I could: min-maxing simply means that you read the rules to D&D and decided to use them to your advantage. Reading the rules to D&D is great and everyone should do it (in fact, this a reliable way to be an asset to the DM: know how your character's abilities work). There are a few cases where it sucks but most of those aren't actually due to min-maxing so much as shitty player behaviors that can occur in min-maxers.
I think one reason people dislike min-maxers is that the stereotypical min-maxer builds a character who truly can't do anything except for massive damage, and that does kind of suck, but I also think that that is really hard to build in 5e. You're going to have some other abilities. I think it was much easier to truly min-max in 3.5e, and perhaps in older editions you could really break things (in fact, having listened to some pathfinder 1e actual plays, I know you could).
There is also, as Jasmine points out, a false assumption that min-maxers aren't interested in RP or won't do it. This is very clearly untrue and a few examples off the top of my head from Actual Play that are debatably min-maxed are: Deadeye Cybin (played by Brennan, natch) in NADDPod (damage dealer); Laerryn Coramar-Seelie of EXU Calamity (optimized for survival, especially against non-magical foes); Caduceus Clay and Deanna Leimert of Critical Role (both optimized to be healers, incidentally); Orym and Vex, also of Critical Role (optimized to have a stupidly high perception score), Theo Gumbar of A Crown of Candy (optimized to tank and have a stupidly high AC). These are all fantastic characters with profound RP scenes who happen to also be really, really good at a narrow band of things, but they're also not just good at that. Many of them also can serve as the brains or the face of their party; many have utility spells far beyond their area of specialization.
Another reason people dislike min-maxers is they have a reputation for being ungenerous - for swooping in and stealing the spotlight. The above characters, played by some of the most generous people in actual play, show that's clearly not the case. Also, to be honest, a spotlight hog doesn't have to be min-maxed. It's just a shitty "hey, hey look at me" player. I think attention hogs might be a bit more inclined to try to build a character who is really really good at something (again, usually damage more than say, healing) but that doesn't mean that everyone who builds a gunslinger is here to steal all the glory.
Specialization also isn't bad! The reason D&D is a game where people are in a party is because not everyone can do everything! There are a small handful of characters who are a utility knife who can basically do a little bit of almost everything (Keyleth, Fjord, Moonshine) but they are the exception rather than the rule. Barbarians, for example, are a class that usually is structured around tanking and doing damage. This is fine! You probably don't want a party that's all barbarians because it is useful to have healers and ranged attackers and people who can sink all their high stat rolls into the mental side of things because they don't live and die quite so much by their physical stats, but it sure is nice to have a barbarian in the mix to balance out the glass cannon wizard, isn't it?
If you show up to a table where there is a clear gap in party composition (eg: healing) or there's a clear story the GM wants to tell (eg: very social, requires a lot of diplomacy) and you decide not to fill it because you are too busy building Guy With Stealth Bonus of +20, then that's a problem, but that's ultimately a failure to collaborate. Min-maxing for something that doesn't really help the party is simply the way in which you happened to fail that compromise.
I'm sure there are edge-case, dark corners of D&D Reddit builds that do suck, but honestly most of them suck in that they are actually not good (eg: coffeelock). Your typical case of dumping one stat to max out on another? totally normal, totally cool.
Anyway to get to the part of your question regarding not being a problem: you probably aren't! You're thinking about how to not be a problem to your DM, which people who are problems tend not to do. However, the big takeaways of the above are 1. read the rules of your character and 2. build a character who fits into the world. In the session zero, build a character who has a reason to be doing the things the DM outlines in broad strokes, and who complements the other PCs. If you do that, then it doesn't matter if you min-max or not.

Back when I first rounded up @the-seelie-court-official and @the-unseelie-court-official into my stable I briefly flirted with making a related RP blog myself. I would've called it The Shotgun Court Official and it would've reflected how little I know about fae or folklore and how skeptical I've been about occult stuff.
The character behind it would've had the vibe of a shotgun grandma on a rocking chair, shooing away those other two characters whenever they came around. I dropped that idea for a few reasons, but ultimately it was just because...it's what I already do.
