I watched a TikTok that said this but it needs to be said here... Rise fans, please don't hate on Mutant Mayhem or boycott the film just because you don't care for the designs!

(Very long rant ahead)

I get it, this happens with new designs in any show. People get attached to a certain look and don't wanna give the new one a chance. Some recent examples of this are the Monster High and MLP redesigns. Sadly, TMNT fans have always done this whenever a new show comes out. They immediately criticize the new show without even giving it a chance because they don't like the designs or they changed the personalities. And it's not just the new shows, sometimes fans of new shows will look down on old ones because they aren't like the one they like (2012 bashers I'm looking at you).

And yeah, I get it, it's hard to broaden your mind to new and different content. I was one of those people and unfortunately still can be sometimes. I thought Rise looked like it'd be really weird and dumb at first, but when I actually sat down and watched it I realized that "hey, it's actually good!" and quickly fell in love with it. The same thing kinda happened with the Bayverse movies. Everyone was bashing them so hard bc the designs were hideous (and yeah... Idk what the artists were on when they made my boys because they look like they eat human flesh), but when I watched them I was actually pleasantly surprised. Now they're definitely not perfect at all, I'd say they're mediocre at best, but watching them was still a fun experience because I got to laugh at how ridiculous everything was. And even though the boys weren't written that well, they still had a spark of their trademark teenage dorkiness and that's honestly what kept my attention.

I'm not saying that you should like every single new version of something just because other people like it, because yeah sometimes the new stuff is just bad. My point is, it's really easy to dismiss new incarnations of tmnt (or any movie or show) because of biased first impressions or because you hear other's negative opinions and just assume they're right. The problem is if you don't go and see for yourself, if you don't give it a chance, you could be missing out on something really special. I would hope that Rise fans especially would understand this, seeing as our show was frowned upon by so many just for being different. Let's not have history repeat itself, my friends. Whether or not you like the designs, you should at least give Mutant Mayhem a chance. Because you never know, it could be amazing! And even if it's not, at least you'll know for yourself.

Character Building/Backstory

•  What was it specifically about your OC and their skills that caught the attention of Mann Co? 

Irradiator was a nuclear engineer who worked at a power plant, but in their spare time designed methods to use nuclear energy in weaponry on a small scale. This expertise and arsenal caught the attention of Mann Co for being particularly exploitable unique and contacted them with a undisclosed job offer that paid a lot better than their job at the plant. 

• What mercs does your OC get along with well? Who do they have most in common with? Any best friends? Or...more than that...?  👀

Irradiatior gets along *very* well with engineer. The two of them can often be found discussing science and engineering, and talking about their respective fields together. Of course, engie with all his phds, ends up teaching them more, but it is still a common pasttime for them. They are also pretty close with pyro, due to them both having a lot in common regarding obscured identities, and wearing safety suits all the time. They also get along well with heavy because they both come from the same region, and often share old stories about their life in the USSR. However, despite all this, Irradiator does not often socialise enough with anyone to consider anyone a *best friend* or super close. Irradiator is a pretty reclusive person and suffers a lot from paranoia and social anxiety, and prefers the company of very few people, and not people that talk too much. Suprisingly they get along ok with Soldier, but this is mainly because he assumes the Georgia they come from is the state, not the country. There is one merc however, they really admire.......but they prefer to keep that to themselves.

• What mercs does your OC NOT get along with? Anyone they particularly hate? Why?

Irradiator does NOT get along with scout at all. They don’t hate him, but he is just too social and too much for them to handle, and he makes them anxious. He basically kind of scared them away. They do not appreciate spy’s company and finds him very pretentious and if they do say something to him, it can come across as kind of rude. Spy is the one they come the closest to hating, but they at the very least tolerate his existence and try not to make a huge deal about it. The other mercs they don’t really know well enough to have strong opinions on. 

• What is it specifically about your OC’s personality that stands out? Many of the mercs have their own (exaggerated) traits that make them , well, them! (Canon examples are like how soldier is obsessed with America, Medics shockingly Hippocratic approach to medicine, etc.)

Their LOVE for radiation and radioactive materials. Its a part of their personality! Like seriously, its almost kind of concerning how eager they are to expose themselves to radiation. This of course, means semi frequent visits to medic to cure radiation sickness. They keep radioactive things as collectibles and overall are just...Obsessed with it to the point that people start to wonder if its some sort of fetish.....

•   Whats an unexpected quality your OC has? A secret hobby or skill or trait that nobody would expect from them?

Perhaps not so unexpected, but their LOVE for bugs. they really enjoy learning about insects!! They really want to have a pet bug, but of course this kinda freaks everyone out except for probably Pyro and Sniper. This is also a factor in why they dislike spy, because of his rude response to them wanting to have a pet bug. 

“Gameplay” Questions

• What classes/mercs is your oc strong against?

They have a good amount of power over everyone if used effectively, however, they work the best to counter lower health classes like scout and spy with their dirty (radioactive) grenades that leave radioactive waste that damages and leaves a bleed effect whereever it is that it exploded. This of course means higher health classes have more of a chance against it, but it will cut down the health of a lower health class very easy, and can quickly stop a charge for some time.

• What classes/mercs is your oc weak against?

Most weak against engineer, because radiation does not do anything to a sentry or dispenser. However higher damage classes like Heavy and soldier they are naturally weak against in general. Engineer is their biggest counter, though.

• What would you do to make your character balanced, but still fun to play? Basically what weapons and abilities would you limit? Which ones would you highlight? 

Their dirty grenades are limited in supply, and have very little explosion damage, and the radioactive “bleed” effect does not last super long. The radiation also only lasts in an area for about only a minute or so at a time, and gets weaker over time before completely dissipating. The radiation is also incapable of killing any of the mercs on its own. It can only lower health drastically, causing them to have to consider whether or not they want to push on low health, or recover health. Their raygun works similarily, and has a bleed effect as well, but is much higher than the grenades, and is capable of killing through radiation damage. Irradiator themselves can become damaged by their own radiation by standing in too much of it at a time, but the damage output is still greatly reduced. Basically it is sort of like if demoman and the boston basher were combined into a person, lol.

• Would your OC have a special ability or gameplay element unique to them? (Canon examples include Pyro’s pyrovision, Soldiers ability to rocket jump)

Believe it or not? Damage yourself with radiation. No, really. It will increase their run speed and damage, but at the cost of having greatly reduced health. (of course there is a ceiling to this. Super low health does NOT mean super speed and extreme damage.) 

• Write a few taunting voice lines your oc would have for when they kill an enemy and want to rub it in.

“Not even the biggest dose of iodine can save you from that!” (iodine is used to treat/prevent radation poisoning.)  “And you thought you were a silent killer? Even the most clever spy cannot sneak around radioactivity!” (directed at spy of course) “I suppose the streets of Boston did not teach you the dangers of radiation, no?” (directed at scout)

• Would your OC be effective on the front lines, flanking, ambush, or rear?

Ambush for certain, in my opinion, but i really dont know!

• What cosmetics would you like your OC to have? Is there a particular theme? Feel free to include pics of what clothing, hats, or weapons you’d like to see as cosmetics for your OC. 

A lot of space age type stuff. Or a hazmat/NBC suit variation of traditional Georgian costumes.

I dont have a specific voice claim honestly. Basically anyone who can do a georgian accent and has a deeper kinda ambigious voice. 

• Would your OC have a Team Fortress Classic counterpart like the other mercs do in the comics? What makes your TFC merc different from your TF2 oc?

No, actually. At least not at the peak of the TFC run, which was in the 1930s. The position of the Irradiator would really only exist after or during WW2!

if yes then bf is good item because bf is around 40 damage

imagine.. with bf.. you’d get.. 35% more damage.. out of 40 damage. so that would be. 14 more damage.

with attacks speed.. you would.. get.. like.. the same damage.. so no damage bonus.. but you’d only hit faster

so.. I guess that’s true.. that it’s better to get more damage on jug. because crits increase damage by 35% on average

so you get 35% more damage bc of crits.. and that means.. 35% more dps more

okay kiddos its storytime with sci (i just got reminded of this event and ive been thinking about it a lot) so like...i went to a catholic elementary/middle school. and yeah sure middle schoolers are mean little punks but it somehow gets worse when you're all raised by bible bashers and they know how to make you feel like you're going to hell. i was a very goody two-shoes child in middle school and the main insult the boys in the class would throw at me is "gay", which honestly isnt so bad (especially since it turns out they were right), except i was also an incredibly SHELTERED child and had no idea what the word gay meant as a 12 year old in 7th grade so one day my mom is pickin me up from school and i say "hey mom, michael called me gay today, what's that mean?" and she said "well it's a word for when a man falls in love with another man and marries him." and i asked, "is there a word for that with girls?" and she said "yeah, that's called being a lesbian." and i said okay like. it was that fucking easy to explain it to me. but theres more to this story eventually i learned that in the catholic line of belief, being gay or a lesbian was considered sinful and a one-way ticket to hell. and this was very bad for me because somewhere around the beginning of 7th grade is where i began questioning my sexuality and seeing girls in a very different light. so, logically, i thought that because i liked girls as well as boys, i was going to die and go to hell and every few months or so at saint leo's catholic middle school, we would all go to the church next door for a regular confession. i always bullshitted these bc i had never actually done anything bad, but in light of the "i think im a lesbian" thing, i was very scared to tell the pastor about my horrendous sins. so its my turn to go in, i sit down, and i tell father cook, with tears in my eyes, that i think i might like girls the same way i like boys. and this kindly old man, talking to this emotionally distraught and crying 12 year old girl, gently takes my hands and says "sci, god is not going to send you to hell just for who you love. god loves each and every one of his creations, including you. you have not sinned, and therefore you have nothing to fear." and...idk, im not a religious person anymore, i couldnt give less of a fuck as to whether or not im going to hell, but that little moment has always stuck with me and i think the fact that a priest is the one who said it to me makes it even better anyway that was storytime with sci, later yall

OLIVIA MARLIN

family:  olivia and her siblings pretty much grew up in boston, massachusetts. their parents (let’s name them brenda and august) were protective and religious so they dragged them to church every sunday. they weren’t bible bashers though and they didn’t shove it down their kids throat but they highly encouraged them to follow the paths of god. i haven’t locked down how many siblings she has because i want to leave this open?

BEST FRIEND (male!): okay okay so i’m going to need a best friend for her too and i would really prefer a male somewhere around her age would be great but really i’m not picky. anyway, these two basically met a little over five years ago when olivia moved to hickory creek. i think they might’ve been neighbors or he might’ve been persistent enough to stick around or he helped her with something... we can figure that out together you know? but all i want is this guy who became her best friend in a very short amount of time and basically he’s her rock and “uncle” to her little girl (and probably ending up babysitting her too, #sorrynotsorry)

friends: other friends would be awesome as well. while liv isn’t probably the liveliest person out there, she tries hard and she needs friend to help her out a bit (even though she wouldn’t ask for it). she’s really nice and kind once you get to know her real good and she’s loyal af.

enemies: so she’s also blunt and can be grumpy from time to time but she’s mainly very easy to get along with unless you harm/threaten/say anything negative about her daughter bc she’s her angel and she will take no such shit. and i mean she takes no shit. #badassbabe

A JOB: so honestly i haven’t decided where she’d work at so i’m kind of just reaching out to see what she’d be doing. she didn’t go to college though, but instead has worked somewhere (or maybe even in a couple of jobs - she might also have two jobs) since she got here. so yeah i really need a job for her?

romance: okay okay so i have a few plot ideas for this bc i’m a sucker for angst/semi-slowburn/drama --- sucker for all the things okay? but in the end i just know that this lady needs some love after all the unfortunate events so i’m very open with this and the following is merely on idea (just poke me with your own if you want to, i don’t bite <3) so if you’ve read olivia’s blurb, ya’ll know that her baby daddy was much older than her (13 years older to be exact) and came from a crime family in boston. but they were really in love. sadly enough, he died in a job gone wrong before olivia even found out that she was pregnant. she has met his family and while she didn’t want any part of the illegal activities, his family (aka harper’s grandfather) was pretty set on being part in his granddaughters life (esp since she’s the first grandchild to him) but olivia took her to hickory creek and told them to eff off cause harper wouldn’t become part of that. OKAY SO LONG STORY (SEMI) SHORT. I had this idea of their family still shadowing her and kind of being there to protect harper (and her) if something went wrong (bc they got harassed by another crime fam due to their association to harper’s baby daddys fam). so they’ve lowkey seen her and harper, talked to them, maybe as customers at some place or helping her in park or sth - anyway. so one day she actually gets into some kind of trouble with some vengeful rival dude, but this guy steps in and she’s basically just wtf cause he looks like harper’s dad. which is explained with the fact that he’s (one of) his younger brother(s) who shares similar looks to his brother. and tadaa, olivia finds out that they’ve been shadowing her and whatnot and there’s kind of drama bc she tells him off but he doesn’t leave and tells her it’s her father’s orders and is basically like “look i know you don’t want us in your or her life but you’re kind of family - and harper is by blood - so we protect our family want it or not.” and like, it’s semi-slowburn cause this guy is actually quite nice too and i mean he looks like his brother and olivia’s basically going all “what is this feeling?” and be really confused cause she sort of feels relaxed and safe in his company but then again she doesn’t want that to be part of harper’s life so... choices. or... go a totally different way and do some sort of other romantic plot like... idk friends turned lovers or sth. i’d love a kid’s teacher + kid’s mom romance too but harper’s not in school yet anyway so that wouldn’t work boo :( but yeah honestly i’m open in the romance department, the idea above is merely one idea  extra cookies if you use luke mitchell, chris hemsworth or tyler hoehclin bc they’re total babes and i love gif spam so...? but like honestly, so open, i’m not that picky (well i’m a bit picky but not THAT picky i love lots of ppl <3 xD) love me?
