I present my very first iZombie ficlet, a dom!Olivia Moore x genderneutral!reader story:

Don’t Say Moore

It had been an unusually tame week in Seattle, leaving the SPD morgue about as lifeless as the few corpses kept cold there. Strolling in, you set your coat down on a nearby chair before quietly creeping up behind a man you’d gotten to know well enough with to startle.

“Got you!” you declare triumphantly as Ravi Chakrabarti jumps at your touch on his shoulder.

"Another busy day going out of your way to harass hard-working medical professionals, I take it?" he asks you, feigned irritation in the undertones of his East London accent.

"Yup!" you reply cheerily, "One down, one to go."

"I believe your second victim is rummaging around the supply closet somewhere," Ravi said, a mischievous grin on his face as he watched you quietly turn the corner.

It was your turn to be startled as the supply closet door swung open, revealing the exceptionally pale, blonde woman you had been seeing for about a week now. Olivia Moore had saved you from a close encounter with a zombie and the two of you had gotten close in the process - as close as a human and a zombie can get without becoming two zombies, anyway. The way she was looking at you today was different: the hunger that you usually saw deep in her eyes as she scanned your body - that definitely-too-sexual-for-work longing glance - seemed to instead have been replaced with the genuinely ravenous stare of an apex predator.

“Babe, you look like you haven’t slept!" you exclaim, surprised to see dark circles around her eyes. Then, upon seeing her shoulder, you began to panic, "Is that a bullet wound? Wait, when’s the last time you’ve… eaten?” your voice gets softer as she walks past you. Despite not having been together long, the two of you had already had your share of arguments about the realities of her investigative work. You had honestly expected more of a fight.

“Rough night helping Clive. I’m handling it," Liv grunts, setting out the medical supplies she had taken from the supply closet and missing the questioning look you gave Ravi, whose eyes seemed to plead you to change the subject.

“It’s just... the detective work you do is so dangerous," you continue, ignoring the doctor's animated grimace, "I know you want to help people, but you're already a medical examiner, right? So do you really need to keep putting yourself at risk doing this detective thing?” You look over at Ravi to back you up, but he stands up suddenly.

"I’ll just go update Clive on our progress, then. Be right back,” and with that he ducks out, looking for all the world like he couldn’t exit the morgue fast enough.

“Babe, I worry about something happening to you all the time-“ you start before Liv interrupts you.

“You don’t have to worry about me dying," she said bluntly, "I'm already dead."

Liv keeps her eyes on the supplies as she keeps talking, "Just a shambling zombie dealing with a slow week at the morgue. If I've learned anything working here, it's that the people of Seattle don't usually stop murdering each other for very long."

“Liv, I care about you. How am I supposed to not worry when you’re putting yourself in danger all the time?” you put your hand on her shoulder, wishing she would turn around and look at you - only to regret it. Her head whips around, eyes turning red before letting out a growl and putting her hand around your throat.

“Shut. Up.” she spat, pinning you down onto one of the empty exam tables. Knowing her nails were one small movement away from taking your humanity, you kept yourself as still as possible and your breath as shallow as you could manage under her grip.

"Say another word and I won't have to wait for a murder to get my next meal," she snarled, inches away from your face. Your own heartbeat pounded loudly in your ears and you had a moment when you were sure you were about to pass out - then, Liv's eyes shifted just as quickly back to their usual muted shades and she let go of you. Gasping to get enough air again, you clutch your chest before feeling your neck for scratches. Thankfully, you seem unscathed. Looking up, you notice Liv is smiling now and decide not to say anything that might change that.

what's the seattle zombie woman

okay basically there was some released footage of a "zombie woman" in about 2021? people called it a hoax which was understandable, but basically the footage was of her screaming and crying- multiple clips being uploaded from onlookers of her frantically yelling and looking half dead. police footage eventually came out that she was an actor, but even while being assessed by the police and paramedics she didn't stop screaming and crying. the footage was really fucking creepy with how intense she was wailing. most assumed it was drugs or a car accident. id recomend looking at the footage, my explanation fails to describe it

Ellie is a fully developed character, whose sexuality is a core trait in such a way that removing it would harm her character. Ellie is one of the best lesbian characters out there, and she's even a playable character in the franchise, along with being the protagonist of the second game (I'm not comenting on the story)

Her relationships, especially with Riley and Dina, are a part of the overall narrative and her character, having interesting relationships with unfortunate endings.

Brief story (spoilers)

Warning: this ain't brief at all

Ellie was born in the midst of an apocalypse; a zombie plague brought upon by a hyper-mutated version of the real-life mushroom Cordyceps. Living in the Boston Quarantine area, she would face many hardships in her early life.

Here, she met Riley, and both of them fell in love, however, while in an abandoned arcade center, both of them were bitten by the infected, and they would soon lose control to the fungus. They embraced each other and waited to lose their minds. However, Ellie proved to be inmune to the Cordyceps, which made her possibly the last hope of human civilization.

She and the main protagonist Joel would traverse the country in search of the Fireflies, a militia that was looking for a vaccine against the infection. However, in Salt Lake City, Joel learned that Ellie would die as a result of the operation to extract the fungus in her body, and, having grown to care for the girl that he saw as his lost daughter, Joel would kill the Fireflies and the surgeon that was going to perform the surgery, destroying the last hope of humanity as no one else knew how to perform the surgery.

Ellie and Joel, the former being lied to about the events in Salt Lake City, would settle in with a group of survivors in the city of Jackson.

Meanwhile, Abby, the daughter of the dead surgeon, promised to kill Joel and avenge her father. This oath was completed years later, when Abby and other former Fireflies that had joined another militia named the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), would hunt down, torture and kill Joel.

Ellie witnessed this, and along with Dina, her girlfriend at the time, they would travel to Seattle to kill Abby and her friends. The hunt proved unsuccessful, though, and with Dina being pregnant, fruit of a previous relationship, they both returned to Jackson and settled on a nearby farm with the newborn JJ

Unfortunately, Ellie's obsession with killing Abby consumed her, and she traveled to California, her last known location, to finally kill her, leaving Dina heartbroken.

At the end, Ellie let Abby and her companion Lev (a trans boy that will get his own blog) free, and she returned home, but Dina and JJ had already left the farm, now sitting abandoned and empty. Without anywhere else to go, Ellie abandoned the house and parted to an unknown location. As of time of writing, Ellie's fate remains unknown.

Trivia

Ellie hadn't come out of the closet to Joel, as she didn't know how he would react. However, upon an altercation with a homophobic Jackson resident named Seth, Joel jumped in to beat him, but he was stopped before the situation escalated. Joel would show his support for Ellie and Dina's relationship.

A previous girlfriend of Ellie, named Cat, is mentioned in Part II, although she never appears on screen.

Ellie is an artist, playing music, wiring poetry and drawing. She uses art as an outlet for her emotions, dedicating some to Dina although most of it goes towards processing her grief.

A third game in the series is a possibility, which would finally close the overarching plot, and may feature Ellie sacrificing herself for humankind, as her last chance was stolen from her.

okay so i'm not sure if you've heard of the last of us or its sequel but that's the topic of today so yeah. also there are spoilers in here just a heads up

anyways basic rundown there's the new virus called cordyceps (real thing, affects spiders and ants, scary yet cool fungus) that's been brought over to humans because some crops in south america were infected with it, and society quickly crumbles. what makes the infected unique is the fact that they aren't zombies exactly, since they don't die and get reanimated. they're fully alive throughout every stage of infection, and in the early stages, they're almost fully conscious. so the virus essentially takes control of their body in the early stages, while you just have to try in vain to stop yourself from eating the people who may have been close to you. in later stages, your reasoning and general thinking part of the brain has been shut down, only been guided by instinct. also, fungal growths start to burst out of your skull, eventually leaving your head looking something like a flower. also, you get infected through bites, exchange of bodily fluids (infected blood in a cut etc.), or through spores that grow from the dead bodies of infected. spores travel through air and are usually found in dark, damp places that were once densely populated like office buildings and apartments.

ANYWAYS!!!!

in the first game, society has obviously collapsed, leaving only scattered quarantine zones across the country run by what's left of the military, and independent factions that range from cannibals to religious zealots. and in this fractured world is one joel miller!! he's angry, he's middle aged, and has a gun. also, his daughter died in the very beginning of the outbreak and it fucked him up. he smuggles stuff across america with his partner tess who is also angry but in her thirties. she has a gun too. they're currently in seattle.

so they're doing their thing and interrogating this guy about where the guns they traded him are, and he says they're with the fireflies, a rebel militia group. boom they kill him. they find this woman named marlene who promises to double the amount of weapons they get back if they smuggle this girl named ellie to the new state house where some fireflies are hiding. soon they find out that's she's bitten and then she tells them that she's immune, and that she may be humanity's only hope for a cure.

stuff happens, tess gets bitten, guy named bill helps them get a working vehicle, they find out the fireflies have relocated to a hospital in salt lake city. joel gets skewered and for some reason he doesn't bleed out but ellie now has to get him medicine. she meets this guy david who'll trade shit for medicine but quickly finds out he a.) runs a cannibal group and b.) intends to both recruit her and use her for VERY bad things. shit happens, she has the hardest fucking boss fight with him ever and butchers his face with a machete and joel kicks into very healed and very angry dad mode and fights his way into the town they're in. he comforts her and it's very sweet.

THEY'RE IN SALT LAKE CITY! they're captured and joel is given the news that the surgery to reverse engineer a vaccine will kill her. he goes berserk, grabs ellie off the operating table and runs like hell, killing basically everyone. marlene begs him to reconsider his choice and boom he kills her. he drives out of slc and when ellie asks him about the hospital he says a cure is impossible. he swears his story is true and boom it ends. also at one point of the story he finds his brother and turns out he runs a fully functioning, non-sociopathic town by the name of jackson, located in wyoming, and it's a thing in real life apparently?? joel and ellie move there.

ANYWAYS i can't believe i explained all that just so i could actually get to the good stuff (the second game). you're getting another summary before i tell you my thoughts.

game opens with joel telling tommy about the whole hospital fiasco. tommy is like that's fucked up. anyways 4 years late ellie and joel have built a life in jackson though their relationship is strained. on patrol tommy and joel save a stranger named abby from a horde of infected. they go to an outpost run by her group, the washington liberation front, a group made of former fireflies. they attack joel and tommy, abby wanting revenge for joel killing her father, the lead surgeon who was going to operate on ellie. ellie and her girlfriend leave jackson to go find them, and ellie finds abby playing golf with joel's head and swears revenge.

tommy goes to seattle to get revenge (noticing a theme? so am i) and ellie and dina follow. after a wlf ambush ellie tells dina that she's immune and dina tells her that she's pregnant with he ex's kid!! anyway, said ex, who's named jesse and is the best character ever, comes to seattle to help them. while ellie searches for abby's friend nora she encounters the seraphites, a religious cult locked in conflict with the wlf. anyways, shit happens, ellie tortures nora, kills abby's pregnant friend and her boyfriend, flashback where ellie found out the truth about the hospital and cut ties with joel, jesse gets shot in the face?? and abby holds tommy hostage.

abby pov now. she finds out owen, pregnant lady's boyfriend who's sleeping with her, has gone missing while investigating the seraphites. she goes to find him, gets captured, gets saved by lev and yara who have been branded apostates, finds owen who plans to move to santa barbara, recuses yara and lev, travels to a wlf hospital to amputate yara's broken arm that has some freaky blood circulation shit happening that could kill her, lev goes back to serephite island to convince his very devout mother to come with them even though she would literally kill him on sight if she saw him because surprised lev is trans, yara and abby go to get him and turns out he kill his mom, the wlf start to attack the seraphites and abby betrays them to save lev, yara DIES?? abby finds dead pregnant friend and dead owen and a map left by ellie leading to her hideout, abby shoots tommy almost kills dina but lev's like 'no peace and love <3' and abby like 'ugh.. fine... peace and love >:(' and tells the jackson three to leave seattle. originally they were jackson five but two of the five are dead.

ELLIE AND DINA HAVE A FARM AND THEY'RE RAISING LIL JJ AND THEY ARE SO FUCKING CUTE

then tommy guilt trips ellie into finding abby and leaves dina and jj in the middle of the night?? abby and lev try and find leftover fireflies, and are captured by the slave keeping rattlers and they have a. very bad time. ellie arrives after like 3 months and saves them, threatens to kill lev if abby doesn't fight her, abby bites off two of ellie's fingers, ellie almost drowns her but decides not to, has a breakdown, goes back home and the farmhouse is empty. she tries to play joel's guitar but eventually leaves it behind, and that's where it ends.

analysis time!!!!

so in the second game revenge and violence are two very prominent themes. the last of us 2 is bloodier, and when you kill enemy npcs, their friends will actually call out their names in despair, driving home the fact that you just killed someone. in this game, ellie sacrifices everything just to get revenge on abby, and doesn't move on until the very end of the game. abby moves on halfway through, lev and yara helping her realize that revenge will be ultimately pointless in the end, and so she moves on. she destroys her relationship with her wlf friends, but she builds a valuable one with lev. she learns to care and love and live. ellie, on the other hand, can't move on. in her process to avenge joel, she becomes exactly like him, violent and cold. she does horrible things, all for nothing. while she's drowning abby, she remembers the last conversation she ever had with joel, they talked about the hospital, and she says she could never forgive him fully, but she can try. that's when she realizes. abby has forgiven joel. she's let go of the burden of revenge on her shoulders. but ellie, she hasn't. ellie, who's let go of everything she has, now realizes that all the lives she's taken just to get to abby, it's all pointless. then, she lets go.

now, most people say that this game is about revenge, wholly and fully, but i'd beg to differ. this is a game about forgiveness. that might seem obvious now, but with how much is centered around the concept of revenge, it might seem strange. but the reason abby loses her edge for revenge is forgiving joel and moving on, ellie still has to do that.

Weird way to say Amazon workers support censorship

Amazon employees staged a protest outside of the e-commerce giant’s Seattle headquarters yesterday, just as the company was kicking off its “pride month” festivities.

Approximately 30 employees draped themselves in trans pride flags and simulated being corpses, laying flat on the sidewalk in front of Amazon’s “Glamazon Pride 2022” event stage, which would host pride-related festivities for staff and the public. “Glamazon” was initially formatted as GLAmazon, to emphasize Gay and Lesbian Amazon employees, but was rebranded “Glamazon” in 2017 to place “more emphasis on all the letters of LGBTQIA.”

A photo of the “die in” went viral on Twitter after it was posted by Business Insider reporter Katherine Long. She later explained that protestors were accusing the company of “rainbow-washing” its image while making money off of the sale of content that “harms transgender people.”

According to Long, the employees were specifically protesting the sale of “transphobic books,” an extension of earlier Amazon employee efforts to have the retailer remove Abigail Shrier’s 2020 bestseller “Irreversible Damage.”

Earlier this year, over 600 Amazon employees signed a petition demanding the corporation give staff more say over which books are allowed to be sold in on their digital platform. In March, one trans-identified tech employee penned an essay for Business Insider stating he quit the company specifically because of what he deemed “anti-trans practices” at Amazon, which included selling Shrier’s book.

But while Amazon has resisted pulling the plug on a few books critical of gender ideology, in 2021, employees and LGBT activists successfully campaigned to have Ryan Anderson’s work “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment” removed from sale.

In addition to presenting facts on biological reality, the book sought to bring attention to the narratives of detransitioners — people who regretted their gender transition and sought to reverse it. At the time, Amazon claimed the book violated its policy on selling media which “framed LGBTQ issues as a mental illness.”

While activists at the “die in” suggested trans lives were literally in danger due to the sale of “transphobic content,” Amazon’s digital shelves are fully stocked with a wide range of content many would consider to be far more dire.

A quick search of Amazon’s catalogue will find titles such as “Long Dark Shadow: Minor Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity,” by controversial former professor Allyn Walker. Walker came under fire last year after appearing on a podcast hosted by Prostasia, a notorious organization which frames pedophilia as a sexuality similar to homosexuality to lesbianism.

Amazon also sells dozens of primarily digital-books which feature heavy themes of child sexual abuse fantasies, which often include references to forcibly transitioning or “sissifying” male children.

Earlier this year, many feminists raised concerns about a book being sold on Amazon titled “Manhunt,” the plot of which was centered around the brutal murder and torture of females, and celebrates the death of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

Written by trans-identified male Gretchen Felker-Martin, the novel followed the story of two trans-identified males attempting to navigate a post-apocalyptic wasteland in which anyone with high levels of testosterone turns into a zombie. Along the way, they hunt down women who are depicted as “TERF soldiers.”

In one of the first chapters, one of the transgender protagonists gets an erection while attempting to kill one of the “TERFsm” and towards the end of the novel, Felker-Martin pens a particularly grotesque scene in which a Black woman is killed by having her womb removed while still conscious.

plot summary:

a group of wealthy women named vanessa or veronica swear in front of their children and they're so wealthy they can't be bothered to parent. one of the vaness veronica's daughter alice goldtrader (of the gold trader family) goes to her teacher mr mayhew for advice about her hypocritical mother snd her family issues and accidentally interrupts mr mayhew and ms. ostrum about to consummate their affair. ms ostrum leaves and mr mayhew talks about sleeping with barbara with alice which is kind of inappropriate but don't think about it too much. alice goes home and overheard vanessa veronica and stephen (her father) talking about how parenting is really hard and they didn't know what they were signing up for and alice starts to emphasize with her parents. vanessa veronica comes into alice's room and attempts for forcibly breast feed her in an attempt to bond but obviously alice isn't interested. alice tries to explain to her parents her grievances with them but she gives up because they're kind of stupid. she does tell them she understands they're doing their best. vanessa veronica loudly exclaims how she doesn't like being jewish. stephen tells alice her siblings were so much easier than she was and she gets offended and jumps out the window and rides away on stephen's favorite horse, black lightning. she runs back to her classroom and interrupts ms ostrum and mr mayhew having their affair to warn them about not having children so they don't fuck their kid up basically. they tell her children are the future and then proceed to have sex in front of her so she leaves forever. black lightning talks to her and tells her she's his favorite rider and they're the same age and she's the black lightning of the human world. black lightning sings a song about how glue is the future of horses and ponies are the future too. alice leaves monterrey with black lightning to spread this message. she goes to seattle to give advice and a witch named frank threatens her and says if she gives bad advice he'll curse her. he's interrupted by denise, alice's sister who moved to seattle and is dating frank. frank takes black lightning to find alice and denise's brother chet's grave. denise owns a bong shaped like a truck. stephen and veronica vanessa come to seattle to resume parenting after doing a lot of internet research. denise is pregnant and chet is a zombie. alice finally understand her parents and tries to be better than they were

overall thoughts:

this was my first favorite episode ever and for good reason, it's so bizarre and explicitand jamie's rich woman accent is actually my favorite thing. this episode is both second handedly embarrassing and also absolutely hysterical, although i find the last quarter boring. the twist at the ending that jamie's real daughter was in the room the whole time makes it even funnier. the ending is really sweet too, it's a good message.
