Varchie kiss of life and Archie hesitating to propose to Betty from ''spoilers'' on Twitter and Reddit. I think there is no way they would actually give that much thought and attention to Varchie after how they have been treating them since season 5B
Nah, don't bother with those.
Totally made up. Synopsis part 2.
How funny though that when they made up that synopsis VA rose from the ashes soon after.

I just realised that God and Goddess said goodbye only to Lucifer and Amenadiel . And God said I love you to both of them. But there were three people sitting at that table, three sons who needed to know that they were loved. One of them never got to hear that three words. The only one who will never know, was also the one who probably needed it the most: Michael.
Let’s see how much it takes to get me into the fandom jail since I love Michael lol

Yo Lucifans I need to drop a thingy
Spoilers for season 5B and season 2 so if you haven't watched that shit yet skip this rn
Okay so
Season 2 had a lot of things. One of the more prominent storylines of that season was the Uriel arc.
Just to recap. Uriel was on a mission to send "mum" back to hell. Uriel was also an expert at patterns both seeing them and manipulating them for certain outcomes.
Now Uriel tried to manipulate Lucifer into sending their mom back into hell by threatening to kill Chloe through one of said patterns that he'd create.
Which btw: very solid threat
Lucifer killed him, que homeless magician sequence
But. Now in season 5B Chloe did eventually die (and got brought back to be fair). My question to the writers right now is if this was still part of a pattern that Uriel had set up.
He could do the smallest thing and huge shit would happen so could it? Thoughts?

Trying to distract you from the elephants and hippopotami (hippopotamuses?) living above you: If you could write S5, what are the major highlights you’d focus on?
An excellent question!  So, I’m going to pick some of the speculation/leaks we have and toss the others and kind of guess/go from there.  Also, this gets long, like 1.9k words long, so be ready.
- Main Mystery: After the success of Jughead’s novel and the reunited Josie and the Pussycats, Riverdale has become something of a novelty, part curiosity, part tourist trap.  But, this season, tourists and Riverdale residents are starting to go missing.  Some come back, some don’t, and those who do come back have wild stories to tell about, idk, Mothman or something, we’ll run with that leak.  But they also have a weird drug in their system.  At least one of the people who disappeared was a government person with top secret knowledge.  Idk exactly what’s happening, but Penny Peabody and perhaps Penelope will be involved.  Maybe they’re using people as lab rats?  Idk, it’s unclear.  Everyone will have a piece of the mystery, even if Betty and Jughead are the ones to put it all together.
- Archie: Archie is, in fact coming home from the army, but instead of Not-Boyfriend #3, he’s coming home with Reggie, who also joined the army.  Reggie’s dad is dead and has left him the car dealership, while Archie wants to Do Something For The Community In Honor Of His Dad again (also, everyone knows he’d be a shitty car salesman).  Maybe we keep the firefighter thing though, idk.  What’s important is that he and Reggie are living together in the Andrews house and, yes, we will get Archie’s gay awakening that we all deserve.  This is 100% a ship we will explore starting somewhere in 5a.  Archie is concerned about the disappearances and knows people being affected by it, same for Reggie.
- Veronica: Veronica went to business school and did business stuff with something new while being distantly involved in Le Bonne Nuit (Pop’s, however, she mainly handed back to Pop, although she does still do something accounting shit for it or something).  However, she also started doing some shady shit (not sure what, I know jack all about this, I’d delegate this decision) and almost lost her business/went to jail/got sued/etc.  Now she’s back in Riverdale to try to return to her roots with Le Bonne Nuit and being a Legitimate Business Woman.  She married a dude who is reminiscent of her mother, kind of a business partner but also a Lady Macbeth type.  The marriage is shaky at best because Veronica kind of forced herself into it, thinking that dating a non-himbo might make her happy after Archie (spoiler: it hasn’t).  They will have their own apartment in the Pembrooke, and, yes, Veronica will have an office somewhere with the rediscovered painting of herself behind the desk ala Hiram because I deserve to see it.  She’ll probably take it down at some point, but it will definitely be up for a while.  She’ll have a rival business person (Elio?) who is both somehow involved in the disappearances, and Veronica’s husband will be revealed to have been working with him at some point.
- Veronica/Archie/Reggie: This is our endgame pairing because I deserve it.  Veronica will get close to her himbos again, with Archie bringing out her better nature and Reggie bringing out her better business angles.  Veronica gets brought into the Archie/Reggie relationship in 5b slowly, might all get together only toward or at the very end of the season.  I’d work out specifics later though.
Now, I’m of two minds about Betty and Jughead.  I could break them up like the show will or I could keep them together because I do what I want.  I’m going to present both cases:
Scenario 1: They stay together
- Betty: Betty is an FBI agent, but she’s also chafing at the restrictions placed on her.  She keeps getting in trouble for going about things in a shady way (like, say, ignoring the need for a warrant), and she’s getting frustrated by all the red tape.  Currently, she’s being sent to Riverdale because of all the disappearances (particularly the government person) and because, well, she’s from there, she knows it.  She has a partner who she doesn’t get along with.  She and Jughead made it through long distance at college and post-grad, and they live together...idk, somewhere.  She will somehow reconcile with Veronica, unclear how.  May or may not quit the FBI to be a PI with Jughead at the end of the season.  Definitely fucks up Penny’s shit at one point.
- Jughead: Jughead is a published author and a PI who Betty sometimes uses as a way around red tape and advocates as a consultant; they both love this.  His first novel about Riverdale secured Riverdale’s place as That Weird Murder Town Where Shit Goes Down and turned it into a tourist trap; he hates this.  He’s on his...idk, third novel, with his second having done less well than his first.  He’s having trouble writing, so he goes back to Riverdale with Betty, hoping that returning to the town that first fueled his writing will help him with his writer’s block.  Jughead gets sucked into the spooky part of the mystery, going off on wild tangents while Betty pursues legitimate avenues. 100% does not have a drinking problem.
Scenario 2: Betty and Jughead break up (either post 4x17 reveal or due to long distance troubles)
- Betty: A lot is the same here.  She’s an FBI agent chafing at the restrictions placed on her and frustrated by red tape; she gets in trouble a lot for going about things shadily in her usual way.  She’s being sent to Riverdale as a Riverdale expert to investigate the disappearances in general but, more specifically, that government person who went to Riverdale on vacation.  (There may or may not be a more suspicious reason for the government person’s visit.)  She is either a single career woman with a partner she doesn’t get along with or she is having an affair with her partner that is falling apart.  While in Riverdale, she’s staying either in an apartment, a motel, or her house, depending.  She will somehow reconcile with Veronica, unclear how.  May or may not quit the FBI to be a PI at the end of the season.  Again, definitely fucks up Penny’s shit at one point.
- Jughead: Jughead is still a novelist upset about the effect his breakout novel had on Riverdale.  He is also an investigative journalist who’s been sent to Riverdale to investigate this shit OR a PI who can afford to take a vacation in Riverdale, and he’s happy to do it because it might help him with his writer’s block.  He has a live-in girlfriend back wherever he lives, and their already dying relationship is going to break with the added long distance difficulties.  He’s going to go after the weirder aspects of the disappearances because he thinks that’s where Riverdale’s answers always are.  While in Riverdale, he’s staying with Cheryl and Toni.  He will definitely reunite with the Serpents, and probably have some friendship moments with Archie as well. 100% does not have a drinking problem.
- Bughead: They will keep ending up at the same places while investigating and slowly slip back into their old routine and habits.  They’ll have a murderboard in the bunker where they meet up away from the eyes of the FBI (Cheryl and Toni draw the line at murderboards in their house), and there will be a lot of pining and sexual tension.  They will have at least one heartfelt conversation about why things didn’t work out, one instance where they have to make out to try and seem harmless after being discovered somewhere they shouldn’t be, and one heated encounter (maybe sex, maybe just making out) after being in a lot of danger.  If Betty is dating her partner, he’s revealed to be a shady fucker after she breaks up with him like three episodes in.  Jughead and his girlfriend have a conversation over the phone where they’re both tryin to break up with the other; it’s quite comical.  Betty and Jughead are reunited by the end of 5a (episode nine at the latest) and spend the rest of the season rebuilding their relationship.  The season may or may not end with Jughead proposing, possibly with a ring he bought for Betty previously but never had the heart to get rid of after the break up, possibly impulsively with one of the rings he always wears, possibly just with a new ring.
- Kevin and Fangs:  Kevin is a drama teacher at Riverdale High, and Fangs does...idk, something, maybe he’s also a teacher, maybe he’s a /bein some field who can work from anywhere, maybe something else.  They live together, a little off/on, but in a way that suits them and always ends in on.  Kevin is concerned about some of his students who’ve gone missing.  Fangs is either in the same position as Kevin or he has an employer who’s being shady.
- Cheryl and Toni: Cheryl and Toni both went to Highsmith College.  Cheryl runs the Blossom maple business well and maybe something else, and Toni is a successful photographer.  As for the twins, Polly recovered and is now raising them somewhere other than this helltown.  They’re back in town for Cheryl’s business purposes, although they mainly live...idk, somewhere else.  Either other Blossoms are secretly pulling some shit, Penelope has resurfaced, or Cheryl has a business partner who’s doing something shady.  Toni sees some shit while taking photographs of Riverdale.  Toni should get a storyline/be involved in the main plot, but I’m not sure what.  Maybe she’ll investigate with Betty and Jughead sometimes?  She definitely has a lot of interactions with Jughead, Fangs, and Sweet Pea though.
- Sweet Pea: Apparently is here?  Maybe lives with Kevin and Fangs?  Works...idk, somewhere?  Possibly went to community college, maybe works at the hospital as a doctor or nurse or lab tech or something?  Maybe is the sheriff?  Unclear, but has seen some shit one way or the other.  I know he’s not a series regular, but we bothered to bring him back apparently, he has to do something.
- Southside Serpents: Might not even be around?  Maybe they disbanded at some point?  Maybe there’s a new version of them that’s being shady?  Maybe we don’t mention them at all?  Unclear.- Alice:  Is still here, apparently, living in Gladys’s house.  No longer with FP, who has gone...idk, somewhere, maybe lives with Gladys?  Alternately, Gladys comes back to live in her house and sparks fly between her and Alice.  Probably is being nosy.
- Hiram and Hermione: Doing some shady shit, undoubtedly, may or may not be shady shit related to the plot, possible red herrings.  It’s kind of one last hurrah for Hiram because we’re finishing up Veronica’s parallels with him this season.  We might get Hiram v Betty at last, though, but then that might be best saved for season 6.  Definitely a mirror for Veronica’s relationship though.
And I think that’s everyone?  I wrote out Tabitha because we know nothing about her so I have no idea what to do with her.  I didn’t break up choni because it really isn’t worth the hassle of breaking up and then getting back together three relationships.  I have no idea what the musical episode would be.  And I didn’t bother to hash out the plot because I’m not crazy enough to lay out a proper Riverdale plot, but I assure you a bunch of crazy shit goes down and at least one 90s teen/college icon shows up.

Around the 21:34 to 21:36 minute mark, we cut to two astronauts in spaces who are watching the show on TV, specifically the part where the revelation occurs, and they both proceed to v****. Audio and visual.
Conclusion/Thoughts
Alright, WOW, so Close Enough season two is like....really not safe. There are a surprising number of triggering moments in this season, more so than the first season. And they occur in every other episode, which is just insane. Just ABSOLUTELY wild. This was (still is) pretty irritating, but I did thoroughly enjoy this season, regardless. I hope to those who plan on watching this season manage to find some enjoyment out of this season, too, in spite of these triggering moments. Much love. :))

here’s my big Opinions On Arrested Development Season 5 B post. sorry if readmores break bc this post is Long.
Tumblr media
first off let me say WOWie i watched like all of this way faster than i meant to. oops!
so 5b was OVERALL pretty good IMO. i’mma talk about my issues with it first tho
i think this season would have benefited majorly from being released in 1 wave instead of 2. i won’t pretend to know the reasons behind splitting the season and i don’t care enough to DIG for it y’know? but the mythology of AD and the storylines in the netflix seasons are so convoluted that coming back to this season after just like... 6 months i think (i think i caught up in sept/october?) was a bit tough. it’ll definitely benefit from a rewatch (like all the seasons do TBH) but whew doggie it’s a lot. in typical AD flashback-forward style it does a pretty good job of like, reminding you of various plot points from before tho.
secondly, tobias is insufferable. i think he was fine pre-season 5. i don’t think i cared much for him past season 2 but like i could get a few chuckles and his storyline in s4 while dark was bearable. this season it was just... terrible. murphybrown was the funniest parts of his segments man. i think these reddit comments sum it up:
Tumblr media
[text: comment1: Debrie’s storyline is just horrific. I didn’t see any humour in watching a woman completely bottomed out by addiction and failure.
comment2: I agree. I was hoping they’d flex some of Tobias’ medical background to help her with her addiction is a conical type of way, rather than just let him be complacent.
comment3: I know that’s the joke he’s up his own ass with how out of touch he is...But holy fuck it was not only gross, jut horrible]
and yeah... i mean the show is dark and based off of black comedy like 90% of the time I Get It but like debrie’s s5 stuff wasn’t funny.
another thing is general consensus is that the editing/ADR of this season is terrible. and yeah, it is. not really a problem that i had with the season so much as acknowledging a problem other people had. to be fair to the show the OG seasons were pretty rough with this too, AND filming the netflix seasons has been a disaster apparently wrt trying to get around everyone’s schedules and whatnot. anyways. not a big problem i don’t really care about it
IN MY ONION... season 3 of AD is the worst fucking season. i outright hate some of it, dislike a lot of it, and like a bit of it. so like i have no problems with the way s5 has gone because it is not season 3 LOL. anyways. onto the good stuff
without being too spoiler-y the seasons (series?) finale had a callback that must be at least 6 years in the making as the footage is from season 4 and not like green-screened etc. and god it was so worth it.
season 5 made me laugh with pretty much every episode, even w/ how ... dark ... some of it got lol. gay gob (bi gob?) is like, the highlight of the series for me. gob has always been My Fave (actually tied with lucille but w/e) but i think his character got real good around s4/s5. as usual i don’t care about george sr. or oscar bc like, You Know. but i think generally the other character save those two and tobias were really good this season! i even sometimes enjoyed when michael was on the screen!
also like, somehow, they made drawing the bluth family tree 20394x more difficult than previously thought which is such a feat.
i know this seasons suffered from a lot of rewrites (thus the bad ADR and convoluted storylines) but like... i think it came out decent. and was wrapped up rather nicely save for that NEXT TIME ON ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT bit in the finale (b...buster..) so... wig! i think the finale mirrors the s3 finale in a lot of ways (michael and george michael riding into the sunset to maybe have a good life apart from the rest of the bluths vs every other bluth having a good time together until something goes terribly wrong) and that’s not a bad thing imo. for a show that has callbacks and stupid foreshadowing and visual gags that don’t tie in till years down the road... where the plot is always just a roundabout of these terrible people doing terrible things and trying to deal with it... doesn’t it make sense that the end is roundabout too? whatever
Tumblr media
all in all if this is the last season (which i doubt s6 will ever happen so ... yeah) i think it’s a fair sendoff to a dumb show that i really like. i don’t think it was disappointing, i don’t think it was bad. i think it was a fun time with a lotta laffs, a few mysteries, and too many tobias scenes.

So I just finished season five of Arrested Development.
That sure was . . . something. Under a cut for spoilers.
To be honest, I was so bored that after the third or fourth episode of 5b I started doing other things. Playing The Sims 4, messing around on my phone, only half watching. The entire batch of episodes only got one genuine laugh out of me (when Buster was trying to make his entrance with GOB at the Bluth Company and his fake hand got caught in the elevator because his timing was off), and for a show whose first three seasons made me laugh out loud every single time, that was disappointing and underwhelming. That said, there’s one aspect of the show that actually made me put down the secondary things I was doing and pay attention, and it’s one that I feel is not getting enough attention.
Lindsay’s true parentage.
Through the back half of 5b we started getting “flashbacks” (really a dramatic reenactment because apparently Imagine did start filming on the project? but also it wasn’t at all a father-son story like Ron Howard said it would be in season four?) to the Bluths childhood at the beach house. These were interesting enough on their own because I always liked the flashbacks in earlier seasons as well (and the actors they got to play the child counterparts of the modern day Bluths were fantastic; in particular the actors for young!Michael and young!GOB nailed the adult actors’ mannerisms), but it’s in these flashbacks that we learn that Lindsay’s biological mother was actually Lucille’s biological mother, which makes Lindsay and Lucille sisters.
And this is just . . . barely touched upon. By anyone.
I was actually super invested during the flashbacks. The fact that Buster killed his grandmother is something else altogether (and then how he nonchalantly reveals later that he did kill Lucille 2 and knew it all along? What??), but the scene with Lucille and Mimi arguing over Lindsay felt so real and emotional that it actually drew me in. Of course Arrested Development is a comedy show, but given that it’s not been delivering on the comedy in seasons four and five as well as it did in the first three, getting to see exactly why this family is so pathologically disturbed was actually very engaging for me. It was the cycle of abuse continuing and carrying out. Mimi abused Lucille in the exact same way that Lucille came to abuse Lindsay. (And Lindsay saying that Lucille was an amazing sister . . . honey, no. She still abused you, and pretty relentlessly.) The flashbacks, and the discussion around the flashbacks, were easily the most engaging parts of the show. (And Michael confessing to the murder was also super emotional, I won’t lie.)
But again, it was barely touched upon. Michael, Buster, and GOB never reacted to the news that Lindsay is actually their aunt. George-Michael and Maeby were never told that, surprise! They actually ARE blood related, and Maeby is his . . . second cousin, I think? Because now the family tree is:
Tumblr media
Maeby is the cousin of GOB, Michael, and Buster, which would make her George-Michael’s second cousin, I think. Or first cousin once removed, or whatever the hell the terminology is. But no one thought to tell them this despite the fact that the George-Michael/Maeby subplot was there since the first episode of season one (and I think they kissed in the finale?). I mean, it’s incest regardless since it’s not DNA that defines family but rather the bond, but you still would think that would be remarked upon outside of Buster’s little joke there at the end. Considering the fact that this family’s dysfunctional relationships with each other have always been the core of the series, it feels strange that these new . . . well, developments in their family structure went completely ignored in favor of the FakeBlock plot and other plots.
I don’t know, it . . . was something. And it’s over. And I think that’s probably for the best. Seasons four and five were just not up to the same calibre as seasons one through three, and as much as I did want Arrested Development to come back, now I kind of wish it hadn’t. But it’s over, and I got it over with, so now I can focus on season three of Queer Eye. That’ll make for a fun remainder of the weekend, at any rate.

Claiming a Happy Ending- Both Robin and Regina find themselves missing each other and Regina decides to do something about it. This was written between 4A and 4B, when I had the delusion that I wanted to be “spoiler free.” I was also ill when I wrote this and haven’t looked at it since, so…it might be a little rough, LOL. (Really, I should delete this.)
Shattered Expectations- Dark OQ smut during the Curse of Shattered Sight; and after the curse breaks, Robin and Regina share a sweet moment together when he helps her change back.
Where Our Story Began- Set directly after Smash the Mirror, Robin asks Regina if he can walk her home and when they get there, she gives him The Legend of Robin Hood–a book that both exasperates and surprises him.

Reasons (Not) to Camp- Based on the AU above, Regina and Robin spend a night together at the Merry Men’s camp.
The Wrong Choice- After choosing to try again with Marian, Robin can’t shake the feeling he’s made the wrong choice.

To See You Smile- While he’s in New York, Robin and Regina have a Skype date.
Season 5A-Inspired One Shots:
Wonderful Tonight- The night of a ball at Camelot, Robin finds himself in awe of Regina. AU
Moments like These- AU. Instead of attending the Camelot ball, Robin and Regina stay in for the night with Roland and baby Neal; Roland inadvertently gets Robin and Regina to open up about their feelings regarding the child Zelena is carrying.
Just the Two of Us- Amid the chaos trying to save Storybrooke from the darkness, Robin and Regina spend a night at home alone together.

TWD 10x10: Stalker - Details
Let’s talk some details! I’ll start by mentioning all the little things we’ve noticed, and then I’ll get into connecting it all. You might want to grab a beverage. This will be kinda long.
***As always, spoilers abound below for 10x10. Don’t read until you’ve watched! You’ve been warned!***
Tumblr media
So, we start by seeing Beta jump into the pit via the RV. Both of those are huge symbols. The RV is a symbol of time that we’ve often associated with Beth. And Beta pretty much went into a dark tunnel…and emerged through a grave. Hmm. No better resurrection symbol than someone digging their way out of their own grave, Dean Winchester style
Then there’s Rosita’s dream. Seriously creepy, no? I knew from spoilers that it was a dream, but if I hadn’t, I definitely would have been freaking out. The thing is, it foreshadowed Beta walking around Michonne’s house, looking for Gamma. That part LOOKED just like Rosita’s dream. So that was a foreshadow of what happened later.
Tumblr media
I couldn’t help but notice that when Daryl is following Alpha, he starts out in the dry riverbed. He gets up out of it, but then Alpha comes and he hides in it again. Then later, he attacks Alpha and the other Whisperers right next to the river. I’m wasn’t sure exactly what to read into that at first, but I’ll come back to it.
And Alpha actually led part of the horde out of the caves. It’s not very many—maybe a dozen or two dozen walkers—but they’re with her and the other Whisperers when Daryl attacks them by the river. Again, that’s important.
Also important to note that this season is moving relatively slowly. They made a point of saying in this episode that it’s only been 2 days since Siddiq died.
When Gamma tells FG to get her a map and she’ll point to where the caves are, I slowed it down to look at the map. It pans by very fast. I notice some Xs, but there are lines through them, which makes me think they might be train tracks. I can’t read all of the writing, but near the cave location, it says “unsafe zone.”
Tumblr media
I also noticed the caves are 14 miles away. On the one hand, I thought of episode 14s through the seasons. Often Sirius/Beth related characters die in those episodes (i.e. Lizzie/Mica, Noah, Denise, etc.). Or this could be pointing toward ep 14 of this season. We’ll have to see what that brings us. But I looked it up in terms of biblical symbolism, and I found this:
Tumblr media
All sound like Beth related stuff to me. And if the caves are 14 miles away, and that represents salvation and deliverance, that’s just another indication to me that Connie and Magna are just fine. They’ll survive the caves. Perhaps be “saved” by someone. ;D
My fellow theorists and I have been discussing the whole Rosita/FG/Eugene dynamic. At various times, we’ve felt that one or all of them might die. I felt that way this episode, too.  The symbolism around them is so muddled, and they’re all so interconnected, that’s it hard to say. For one thing, when FG leaves Alexandria at one point, he gives Rosita his hat.
Tumblr media
He does return to her after that, but it kind of felt to me like when Carl passed his hat to Judith, you know?
A group leaves Alexandria at the end for Hilltop. Rosita goes with them so she can see the doctor (apparently there’s still a doctor there) so I’m assuming when she arrives, that’s when we’ll get the scene with her and Eugene. But she also keeps talking about her fear that both she and Gabriel will die, leaving Coco an orphan. I don’t know if that’s a foreshadow or not, since it’s very on-the-nose, but it may be.
Tumblr media
There’s also a part where Rosita looks up at the windmill and the camera focuses on it for a moment. People are speculating it’s a death omen because Siddiq woke up on its platform not long before he died. I think they might be onto something there, because in the opening credits, we see three turns of the windmill along with Rick’s bridge scene. And while we know Rick isn’t dead, the characters in the show believe he is.
I was also thinking that it might indicate a Whisperer trick. When it happened with Siddiq, Dante was in Alexandria, messing with his head. And in this episode, the Whisperers lured Gabriel and many others out of Alexandria so Beta could enter and get Gamma. But this is still conjecture. We’ll have to see how it plays out.
The gas station:
Tumblr media
Everything is red, yellow and blue. There are “wings” on the main sign that look a lot like the Phoenix wings in the moonshine shack. And Alpha passes and old, analog gas pump with some interesting number on it. I’m seeing 32, 8 and 26. Not positive what to make of those, but 3+2 = 5 (for S5, perhaps?). 2 + 6 = 8, So that’s two 8s, which might indicate 16, or just the 8 years it’s been since Coda.
@frangipanilove noticed a rack full of car air fresheners. Just the kind of thing you’d find in a gas station. But what shape do fresheners often take? That of CHRISTMAS TREEs. So yes, there are Christmas trees in this scene. We also noticed some old soda coolers (think of @frangipanilove’s blue cooler theories. It indicates the Sirius/return symbolism.)
Tumblr media
Also, there was a yellow mop bucket behind Daryl at one point.
Tumblr media
And one of the walkers had fungus growing on its legs. We saw the same thing in Still and with Morgan in 6x06. I don’t know if I’d ever researched this before, but I looked it up and found THIS article that makes for interesting reading. This kind of fungus on trees suggests that the heart of the tree is rotten. That makes sense because each time we see them, the characters are in an emotionally bad place. Daryl, after the prison fell. Morgan, before Eastman helped him. And Daryl here, as also evidenced by when Alpha asked him if he could see past the darkness, and he answers, “No.”
Tumblr media
He also uses a fire extinguisher to kill one of the walkers, which is also a Beth symbol.
Overall, it also reminded me of the burnt out greenhouse we saw in 6x06.
And I do have to say that I found the amazing things Daryl did with his leg injury to be…less than realistic, lol. Really not bashing anything, but he was putting all kinds of bodyweight on that leg with the knife still in it. And when he pulls it out, the thing spurts as though he’s obviously hit an artery. We don’t see that he has any way of bandaging it or treating it, yet somehow he lasts the night like that without bleeding out. Yeah, injuries like that REALLY don’t clot all by themselves.
Tumblr media
But hey, it’s Daryl and obviously I don’t want him to die, so I’m cool.
And of course the other option is that it’s purposely unrealistic for symbolic reasons. That’s the kind of thing I’m trying to figure out. Like maybe this is meant to be a symbolic parallel with Alpha being Dawn and Daryl being Beth, and the spurt of blood represents her getting shot in the head and—against all odds—surviving. I’m not sure that entirely works out. Just throwing the possibility out there. But if it did, then Lydia could dually represent Beth saving Daryl and also someone else—like maybe Morgan?—who saved Beth after she was shot.
Tumblr media
There’s another really interesting shot that instantly jumped out at me. At one point, we see FG preparing to leave Alexandria. He gets into a box and unwraps two, red shotgun shells. It was really the color that caught my eye at first. Next to it is a silver pendant with a cross on it. It’s not in the shape of a cross. The pendant is round but has a raised cross etched into it. (It’s actually the crest from his original church in S5, which is probably purposeful.) So it reminded me of the cross Beth wore around her wrist in Coda and of course there are those bullets. Annnddd… FG is a Sirius character. So once again, does this portend his death? I’m not sure.
What really caught my ear in the scene where Gamma talked to Judith was that she used the words ‘remember and ‘forget’ very close together, and I wondered if we would hear all the titles from 5b/Dale’s time speech. We didn’t, at least not in this scene, and I didn’t notice them anywhere else. But it still struck me as interesting.
Tumblr media
There’s an “echo” theme in the episode. The other outpost that tells them there’s horde coming, but it’s a ploy and all the people from that station are actually dead, is called “Echo Station.” And when Gamma talks to Judith she says she has only echoes of memories of her previous life. I’m not entirely sure what that’s all about but I just thought that we’ve had nothing if not echoes of Beth over all the seasons since S5.
She also says that she and her sister made very bad decisions after the virus broke out, and then met Alpha (evil) and Judith says that if they’d met her mom or dad, Gamma wouldn’t be in this situation. So that’s just another way that Gamma and her sister are opposites of Beth and Maggie. They ended up in a good place because they met Rick, rather than following an evil, brutal leader.
Judith also says, “you don’t look like a monster to me.” Seems like we’ve had the monster theme in past several episodes.
When Beta goes into get Gamma, he says something kind of interesting. She’s arguing with him that Alpha lied about what this place was. He says it doesn’t matter. She’s Gamma’s Alpha and needs to be obeyed. Then he says, “You think you’re still alive. You were dead the moment you came to us.”
Tumblr media
So the Whisperers actually believe they are dead. They don’t want to live as the living do. But we could relate that back to Beth’s theme of “you call this living” and a few others.
Later, when he gets her outside of Alexandria, taking her back to Alpha, he says, “You will fall. You will rise. You will walk with your sister again.” Yikes. Talk about a resurrection/sister theme. And you know, Maggie is returning, so… ;D
Tumblr media
I gotta say that Judith shooting Beta was pretty damn awesome. You know, in the way Judith is pretty damn awesome.
There’s also the fact that Alpha wanted Lydia to kill her. So, we could call this a suicide arc of sorts. And when Alpha wakes up in the morning, she says she’s no longer weak, which is a parallel to Beth. I thought of that while watching it. Just the fact that she talks about not being weak anymore and Beth’s “I am strong,” you know?
Tumblr media
People in my group noticed that they used some Dutch angles (with the camera askew) when Lydia walked in. Another reason to believe she’s a proxy for Beth returning.
And then there’s also Alpha singing. I don’t have tons more to say about that, but we all know why her singing is significant. And again, all the dialogue just jumps off the screen at me. “Kill me.” Lydia says no. Then Alpha sings. And says “They’re waiting for you to lead.” Beth anyone?
Lydia carved into a table, “your way is not the only way,” right? Well, the shape of the letters looked a LOT like the graffiti from S5 that says, “Wolves Not Far.” We’ve already talked about how the Whisperers were forerunners to and foreshadowed the wolves, but I started thinking about that idea more deeply. Like maybe that writing, while it did foreshadow the wolves (cuz obviously) also foreshadowed the Whisperers.
Tumblr media
And think about that. We first saw that that graffiti in 5x09, which Beth was in, and there was an 8 next to her. Now, 8 years later, the Whisperers are here. So, by extension, Beth should be too. Back to that in a minute.
I thought it was interesting that Alpha says to Lydia “I want you to…” And then she passes out. She doesn’t get out the word, “stay” until morning. So, Lydia never heard her mom ask her to stay. Lydia would have just heard the first part of the sentence and assumed it would be a negative request, like “kill me and lead the whisperers.” But she wakes up and says “stay” and Lydia and Daryl are already gone. It just struck me as very tragic. And at first, I didn’t see it as a TD thing, but I’ve reconsidered.
Tumblr media
Even when Daryl wakes up and talks to Lydia at the end, it struck me as a possible Beth parallel. Daryl says, “You just been out here this whole time?” Sounds like something he might say to Beth.
Finally, at the end, when Alpha starts reciting her end-of-the-world chant, it pans out. This is the top of the gas station from a birdseye view, with the road next to it. I immediately felt like maybe we should be reading into this shot somehow. I just didn’t know exactly how. The blue colors and greenery might indicate Beth. But I had to put together more thoughts about episode before it really made sense to me. It’s part of the hell theme, which I mention below but won’t go into in a lot of detail here. (The gas station = hell or dark tunnel, and the curving path shows that the character’s arc changes course because of the hell they endure.)
Okay, so this is most of the details I noticed. But the thing is, the details are actually incidental. Or at least, they’re just there to prove the bigger parallels.
I feel like this entire episode is one big foreshadow/parallel.
And it’s probably not possible for any of us to put our fingers on everything it points to, but the more I think about it, the more interesting it becomes. I’ll try to lay a few of them out for you.
Tumblr media
1. So the most obvious thing this represents for me is what I talked about yesterday. It’s a replay of Coda and sort of a re-telling of Beth and Daryl’s arc. Daryl stabbed Alpha in the shoulder and then sustained an injury to the head, just as Beth stabbed Dawn in the shoulder and then was shot in the head. Also notice how this happens by the river (water = Beth). So Daryl represents Beth in this analogy and we then see him staggering around, injured, and in a very dark state of mind. I’m willing to bet Beth went through something similar after being shot and left behind. Or it could be literal, as we know there was a walker horde involved. So Daryl fighting off Alpha’s walkers and trying to survive could literally represent something Beth went through once she woke up, surrounded by walkers.
In that case, Lydia represents someone coming to help/save Beth. We don’t know who that is, but I’m sure we’ll find out eventually.

2. This also represents Daryl’s arc after losing Beth, though in that case, it’s emotional. After she got shot, he was sort of stumbling around in the dark emotionally, and unable to come out of his depression for a long time. With this interpretation, Lydia sort of represents…herself. Because Daryl didn’t truly start to come out of his depression until he started parenting her. So Lydia did help save Daryl emotionally.
3. I still think this represents something for the future as well. I think Lydia represents Beth returning and saving Daryl in some way. Will it be physically? Emotionally? My money’s on both. I think one thing this foreshadows is Daryl going into a dark state of mind again for some reasons, so even if she saves him physically, she’ll also save him emotionally by default.
Tumblr media
And that brings up some interesting questions about Daryl’s crossbow, I gotta say. My group has been discussing this the past few days. We thought it was odd that Daryl dropped his crossbow before going into the cave in 10x08. Because he still had arrows and he had no obvious reason not to bring it with him. Now, of course it would have been VERY cumbersome when crawling through the tiny passages of the cave, and the writers knew that, which is why they had him drop it. But DARYL couldn’t possibly have know that, so it didn’t make much sense. It was obviously something the writers had him do with something in mind. And now Lydia has found it and brought it back to him.
A lot of us have had head canons about Beth doing something like this over the years, so again, this makes me…kinda happy. ;D
4.This obviously represents the hell/dark tunnel arc. I may end up doing an entire, detailed post about this, but here’s the basic gist. We already know the gas station represents hell, because in S4, the gas station Daryl and Michonne’s group went to had the word “hell” written on the marquee.
So I often talk about the dark tunnel symbolism representing the characters having a great trial, and that’s true, but you could also describe it as them going through their own personal hell.
So no matter how you slice it, we once again have a representation of what happened at Grady (stabbed in shoulder, injured in forehead) followed by the trial/hell/dark tunnel. For Daryl, for Beth, for Alpha… it works across the board.
It always starts with either a terrible injury, a death or a death fake out. Or sometimes literal imprisonment to a villain (i.e. Negan, Alpha, etc.). That’s followed by a period of time in which the character struggles through deep emotional darkness. (The dark part, as Maggie said.) Then, when the sun rises again, everything is okay. And what that “okay” looks like depends on what the first event is. If it’s an injury (think Carl’s eye in S6) then the person finally recovers or starts to recover, but it’s obvious they won’t die. If it’s a death fake out (think Glenn in S6) they show up alive. Other times, it might mean the death of the character themselves. (I’m thinking of Sasha. Yes, she died in S7, but she died so the group would have a fighting chance to win the war. And she was okay with that sacrifice. So we saw a sunrise.)
Tumblr media
And let’s just appreciate that, if Lydia in this episode does represent Beth’s return to Daryl, she arrived in the night, kind of during his darkest hour. By the time the sun rose, they were away from the darkness, away from Alpha, and…together in the sunlight.
And the more I thought about and put together all the components of this sequence, the more I realized just how MANY times we’ve seen it. Like I said, I’ll do a more detailed post later, but it’s amazing to realize we’ve been seeing this all along, but for the most part only picking up pieces of it at a time.
(The reason I said the thing above about Alpha not finishing her sentence until the morning being a TD thing is that it’s a representation of someone “falling asleep” as it were and waking up along. You could say that this was Alpha entering the dark tunnel, much as Beth did--through injury--and when she wakes up, her family (Lydia, in this case) has left her behind. Right after that, we see the graffiti-like writing. We saw it with Beth in 5x09, right after Coda. And we’ve already seen plenty of parallels/anti-parallels between Alpha and Beth. Just saying.)
Let’s talk about Beta invading Alexandria for a moment and then I really need to shut up for today.
This is obviously a different sequence than the gas station, but I feel like it foreshadows something yet to come. First of all, it reminded me a lot of the Wolves invading Alexandria in S6. And I’m not saying that foreshadowed this (overall, this thing with Beta was less epic than the wolves) but I feel like both of them perhaps point toward something yet to come.
Let’s look at it with some distance. We have a major resurrection symbol (Beta crawling out of the grave) followed by an invasion in which Judith and RJ were in danger and many people died. So, I wonder if there will be a larger invasion where this is the case.
And honestly, it looks like this might happen with Alpha’s horde next episode, so maybe it just points to that. We’ll have to see.
Tumblr media
But there’s also the resurrection symbol. So, I’m wondering if it points to a resurrection happening during this invasion. (And understand I’m just making observations here. I have no idea what it’s pointing to.) And maybe, given that Beta is evil, I’m making this symbolism too positive. I don’t know.
Also remember though that Beta is an anti-parallel for Daryl. (We saw him fighting with two knives in this episode, like Daryl does, so I was reminded of that.) And when Beth is resurrected physically, Daryl will be emotionally too. So there’s that.
So this is super conjecturey (totally a word) but remember what I said above: the first episode in which we saw “Wolves Not Far” was 5x09. Beth was in that episode, along with tons of symbolism about what might have happened during that missing 17 days, and what we think was trying to say that she would return in 8 years (in other words, now, in TWD timeline). And now, the Whisperers are here, which is probably what the wolves foreshadowed. (There were also interesting clocks in that episode, and the deeply foreshadowing radio voice broad casts. Yes, I need to do another post to show you guys this stuff. It’s just too much to put here today.)
So I guess what I’m thinking/hoping for is that at some point, the Whisperers will invade Alexandria en mass (or one of the communities; if this does point to next episode, pretty sure that’s happening at Hilltop) and during that invasion, Beth will show up to “save” everyone.
Now, here’s hoping this totally goes down next episode. My good friend @frangipanilove would be ecstatic, as ep 11 is the one she always focuses on, and here’s hoping she totally right. (Cuz, you know, that would mean Beth’s return next week. ;D)
But it’s also possible this is bigger than what’s happening in ep 11 and it will be more of a season finale sort of thing. Or… I could be interpreting this totally wrong and it won’t go down this way at all. This is just the stuff rolling through my head since watching 10x10.
One other thing: my fellow theorists and I talked about how we think this is setting up for three returns. Father Gabriel made the three reference to Gamma, and you could argue that Lydia got a return in this episode. She wasn’t really presumed dead or anything, but we hadn’t seen her in a while.
We also know Maggie will be back sometime soon. So that would be two returns. The third would of course, be Beth. But then there’s also Connie to consider. So who knows?
Yeah, this episode was totally packed with stuff. I doubt I’ve even truly hit on everything here. Lots of hidden gems. And next episode just looks, you know, totally badass. So I’m excited to see what comes next.

There's a part of me that kinda hopes we don't get a season 6 because the show is almost unbearable now
I am conflicted. Any Stef and Lena I want whatever Teri and Sherri think is best for them. If they want the money, the job, then I hope they get it. If they don’t then I am sure that’s one of the things that comes into play as Peter said.

AJ doesn’t tell her what to do, he doesn’t want her to use lame excuses to not try something. And when she’s doing reckless thing he tells her. Aaron wants to control things, for whatever reason he thinks he know better for her.

It’s such stupidity. I can’t even tell you. Do they really think that people want to tune into a season finale to see Tess and Stef hang out together? I just don’t know what to think anymore. I am happy I don’t watch live anymore. I would be too angry. I had a dream about the damn show: I was trying to watch it and something kept me from doing so. I caught one spoiler (Stef and Lena dancing) that made me determined to stay spoiler free. Eventually, I did start catching the episode and Stef was at prom but it was a bit more like a high school reunion, and it wasn’t about Tess. It was about how Stef felt in high school. She started to revert, feel what it was like for her in high school. And then I couldn’t watch the rest, but assume that Lena came in to help Stef worked through it, they danced and had a grand kiss. I am grateful that at least I got to “watch” this version of the show in my dream.
I hate that new sneak, when have they shown us that Stef is “so bothered” by Tess reiteration of her sexuality? I swear it’s such poor writing. This whole situation is so contrived that I am actually concerned they are going there.

Then she would end up getting really hurt. It's common in abusive relationships because their too scared to leave.
If they were going for realism they would. We know realism only applies to Stef and Lena. I think Callie will break it off before that though. I really need her to stop letting boys tell her to value herself.

Yeah, she’s probably saving her from ICE.

This photo shoot has been the best gift. It has kept on giving. I thought they were done but nope, we got the most coupley picture they have ever taken! If only the show was as good. I think they had so many locations that they must have tons of pictures. Hopefully they’ll keep sharing through season 5b!

I mean if you can tell, since it's not The Fosters related. I remember one day someone asked Teri and Sherri if there were going to be steamy scenes between Stef and Lena, they laughed. Today I think that TBT is breaking with that double standard on Freeform. Of course Stef and Lena have been naked in bed but I still think it was well covered. And in TBT they don't seem afraid to make these girls kiss all the time.
Two things here, season 2 is very much in doubt for this show. The one girl isn’t a regular. Those things alone would keep me from jumping on this ship. I am fragile lol. I did watch it before the kids arrived. My wife is half-iranian so she very much liked the couple and was enjoying it. I am not a great fan but I am happy that there are so many couples to choose from. As far as the scene being more graphic than Stef and Lena, not really. I didn’t actually see much more in their scenes. The kissing is cause they’re a new couple. Also the show is on at 9 and the time slot does make a difference with censorship and what you can watch. One of the things I liked about Stef and Lena is that they were naked on top of each other. That’s pretty unusual.

I will upload it on my youtube today. As soon as I am on my home’s wifi.
