Warriors Scarf

Something that makes his brother’s recognize him the best is his bright blue scarf. It’s a mark of The Hero of Warriors. It gets him love and scorn. It was a comfort to his boys in the war. It’s something he always has.

Always.

Time and Wind are Warriors boys, even if the others aren’t aware. They are his. On rough night’s his boys are at his side, holding on a little too tight and it’s peaceful. It’s what the war days were like.

Late that night, Warriors lay almost asleep on his bed roll, he breathed in deeply, eyes drooping closed as Twilight and Legend talked quietly. The sky had gone dark hours ago, and Warriors guessed (correctly) that Legend wasn’t having the best of night’s, which was what caused him the be up with Twilight. A light tug was felt on his neck, before Wind was curled up at his side, gripping the blue fabric in his fists and shallow breaths escaping from the boy.

Wind didn’t have the trauma as bad as some of the other’s, but his memories of the war were nothing small for a boy his age.

Warriors lifted a hand, running his long fingers through Wind’s hair. Soft as silk and soothing for him to play with. The two fell asleep together and Wind held on to that scarf the entire night.

Wind found the scarf a comfort, as did Time. After a battle on a long day, Time and Warriors sat in camp together, Wild making dinner and the others sitting around camp, doing their own thing. Time’s stress was obvious, and Warriors knew that all he needed was someone there, and who better than his freaking father?

Time turned in Wars direction, gently tugging the scarf off and sniffing it. It always had that odd smell of the shampoo and soap Wars used. And while Legend always said it smelled gross, Time loved it.

Time relaxed, holding the cloth in his hands and stroking the silky blue fabric. It had been something he always used to do, stroke the cloth until he would hand it back, lean against Wars shoulder and fall asleep.

These days, it was no different.

Legend hated the scarf with every inch of his being. Which wasn’t a lot, but still.

At least he said it did. But whenever they went through a portal, or after a tough battle where they weren’t sure if everyone was there, the scarf earned a sigh of relief from the vet every time. Legend hates it when Warriors isn’t wearing the blasted thing. When it gets torn, he always complains more than usual. When the captain is bathing and the scarf is removed, Legend complains. Every time.

Wild loves the thing, the cheery blue color, the comfort it brings Time and Wind.

And the fact that he has a way of telling when the captain is there. After all, the bright blue is hard to miss.

When Wild complains a little too much about being cold, Warriors will come up to him, remove the cloth from his neck, and wrap it around Wild’s. A nod and a smile when he’s done. Earning a scowl from the vet each time.

Wild is Twilight’s, but Wars likes offering even the smallest amount of comfort. Wild’s nose and mouth are easily covered by it, and with his hood up the only thing about him that might be cold is the bridge of his nose.

Twilight likes the scarf as well. But it’s very different with him.

On the occasion that Wars will swear- even Time won’t correct him on that one for fear of scolding, Twilight will tug at the scarf gently- gently for him, at least, and Warriors knows to shut up.

As Wolfie, he’ll jump at the thing, and has taken it before, earning a fit from Wars and unstoppable chuckles from Time.

Twilight has pulled Wars around with it, without doubt, and he earns that same scowl Legend gives everyone who takes the captain's scarf.

Warriors earns a smile from Sky every morning when he comes back to camp from washing his hair, as well as the sky hero handing him the scarf. When Sky is stressed out, he’ll ask for the scarf, and Warriors will oblige. Sky will sit either beside him, or the vet, and tighten the seams, or do and undo embroidery on it.

It’s how Sky deals with stress.

Four is the mischief. So stealing the scarf from the captain is a favorite pastime. Hiding the scarf in plain sight just to prove the captain's blindness. Or, as a minish, he’ll burrow into the cloth. But he prefers hiding it.

Hyrule adores the thing. Tugging on it to get Wars' attention, hugging the cloth to his chest or, on the rare occasion that Wars doesn’t, wrapping it around the older man's neck, with a satisfied smile when he's finished.

The scarf is a comfort.

Not saying it hasn’t been covered in Warriors blood one too many times, to the point where if it’s dirty there is always someone volunteering to clean it.

The scarf stays around the man's neck or in the arms of one of his boys.

It’s a mark of the Hero Link. Hero of Warriors, and father of way too many orphans.
