okay but imagine how feral Scott would be when he sees you in just his tie and Stilettos ! the man would go absolutely BATSHIT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scott would snap in the best way, nonnie. 🔥 Especially after Scott has a long day. You typically greet him when he walks through the door, so he's surprised to not hear your voice as he sets his keys down. He calls out a couple of times, but doesn't get a response as he checks each room.
That's when he spots your dress hanging on the banister.
Smirking as he makes his way upstairs, his heart races in anticipation. You knew he had a long day when he checked in earlier and you try to take special care of him when he has days like that. You're the best thing to come home to. What he doesn't expect is the sight before him when he opens the bedroom door.
You're wearing his favorite tie around his neck. And nothing else. Your nipples harden, making him wonder if it's from the cool air or his heated gaze. Licking his bottom lip, his eyes trail down the length of your body, taking the time to appreciate the beautiful gift that is you. And seeing the stilettos, his back prickles with the need to feel them dig in as he takes you apart on his cock.
"Cat got your tongue, Mr. Huffman?"
His cock twitches as you toy with the tie, smiling as he shuts the door behind him.
"Your pussy doesn't have my tongue yet. On the bed and spread your legs, angel. I'm hungry."

Love and thanks! ❤️

“Lee, I told you not to call me at work,” Scott huffed into the phone, trying to keep his voice down. His assistant was super nosy and Scott tried to keep his connection to the Sheriff and his cousin Bucky on the down-low.
“I know Scott,” Lee replied in a haughty tone, “But I believe you said and I quote ‘if you ever find someone that looks like her to call you right away.”
This caught Scott’s attention and he sat up straighter at this news.  He never thought this day would come. He stood up from his chair, and nonchalantly walked over to the door, shutting it firmly.
“What did you say?” Scott breathed into the phone.
“Y’heard me,” Lee bit out and Scott let out a shaky breath.
“Send me pictures,” Scott managed to get out before he hung up, collapsing down on the sofa. He rubbed absently at the spot where his wedding band had been until recently.
He had given up hope and figured it was time to remove it. His phone chimed and Scott fumbled clumsily to swipe open the screen.
His breath caught as he pulled up the first photo. You looked just like her. Sure you weren’t in the best conditions, your face covered in dirt, clothes ratter and matted but the resemblance was uncanny.
Scott’s thumbs raced over the screen after he got to the last photo, typing up a message to Lee. ‘I want her. Can I meet her?’
Lee responded immediately with a thumb’s up and time, along with coordinates. Scott slumped back in his seat for a moment before getting up to continue his work.
Tumblr media
Lee exited the vehicle, a swagger in his usual step. He strutted over, thumbs hooked in his belt.
Scott stood in the wooded area, hidden by the tall oak trees. The beams of headlights broke through the darkness and he watched the cruiser pull up. Excitement rushed through him. He had to force himself not to rush to the car, instead, waiting in the darkness for Lee to park the car.
"Evenin' Huffman," Lee drawled, straightening up as he came to a stop, "Special delivery for you in the back there." He hooked a thumb over his shoulder.
Scott nodded, ready to take you and head home. Finally get his second chance, another chance to make things right. "Thank you. Hand her over and I'll be on my way."
"Sounds good, boss. But first I need a favor," Lee said, chewing on the toothpick hanging out of his mouth.
"Again?" Scott snarled, "What the fuck do you do this time?"
Lee held his hands up in mock defense, shaking his head. Scott didn't like Lee but unfortunately for him, Lee knew things that he shouldn't. Scott couldn't risk that information getting out, and Lee knew how to push his buttons just enough. Over the years Scott had ended up helping out in ways that he would have never considered before.
"Nothin'! I never do anything boss, I just always end up in the wrong place at the wrong time," Scott snorted at Lee's explanation but the cop chose to ignore it and continue, "I need you to talk to one of those judges of yours, get me a marriage license. I'm getting married but I can't have it in a public place. Bride's a bit jittery, y'know?"
“Jittery? Is that what you’re calling kidnapped nowadays?” Scott asked, “Fine I’ll get you one by Monday, will that work?”
Tumblr media
Lee clapped a hand on Scott’s back, giving a hearty guffaw, “Monday’s perfect! Now let’s get you your girl.”
The two men made their way to the cruiser; you sat quietly in the back seat, staring forward. Scott couldn’t believe how much you looked like her, his late wife. From the color of your hair, all the way down to how you held yourself. So elegant and demure. Scott couldn’t help himself as he grabbed the door handle and opened it, leaning down to be eye level with you.
You turned slowly to look at him; his eyes were bright and full of hope. Huh? What did he have to hope for in you? You were nothing but a runaway that fell into a bad situation.
He reached his hand out to you and you couldn’t do anything but stare at it. What did he expect of you? Were you supposed to grab it and follow him out of this car? Where would that lead you? The hesitation made him slowly pull his hand back. Without thinking, you reached out quickly, grabbing it before he pulled too far back. It startled him, your sudden movement but a small smile played on his lips and it created a warm feeling in your stomach.
He helped you out of the car, wrapping his arm around your waist as you stumbled for a moment. The stoic sheriff who had brought you carried the duffel bag that they had packed for you. Once you were seated in the passenger seat, you waited patiently with your hands in your lap for the man to round the car. He exchanged a few words with the gruff man before he got in the car.
“I’m Scott,” were his first words to you. You softly said your name, still looking down at your hands. He reached out, grabbing your hand.
Tumblr media
He let you roam the house, following closely behind you. It made you nervous to have his eyes on you. The way he looked at you, made you uneasy as if he was blind and seeing for the first time.
You walked over to the beautiful stone fireplace, taking your time with each photo. The Scott in these photos was so lively, unlike the sunken man he was now. The woman next to him seemed almost familiar but it wasn't until you got to the last photo of Scott with his arms wrapped around the women's pregnant belly did you see the resemblance. She looked almost identical to you.
"What the fuck?" You muttered under your breath. You felt Scott's presence, close in behind you, his breath brushing against the nape of your neck.
"Isn't she beautiful? My Lucy. She was my late wife," he explained sadly. There was almost an edge of guilt to his tone but maybe you were just imagining it.
“Is this why you had me taken?"
"I didn't have you taken," Scott replied, turning you around to face him. With his palms on the mantle, he caged you in. The masculine scent of oud and cedar made you inhale deeply. Your guard was up and you didn't want to let him in. On the flip side, you didn't want to be back on the streets or worse back with the handsy cop.
“Those men took you,” he continued, "I saved you. Now, are you going to be a good girl for me?"
You gulped, looking to those ocean blues. There was a kindness in them, but on the edge, if you look long enough there was an edge of darkness. This man had done things, seen things.
As stubborn as you were, you weren't stupid. Every step you took, had to be thought out and clever. The game had to be played right. Placing your palm on his chest, you nodded, reaching up to kiss him on the cheek.
Scott wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you tightly to him. The sigh he let out was one of contentment and bliss. That was the moment you began to doubt just what exactly you'd gotten yourself into.
Running a household wasn't something you were good at. You sucked at it. Surprisingly, Scott wasn't madder when your cooking was atrocious. You thought maybe he'd accuse you of trying to poison him. Instead, he was kind, telling you'd get the hang of it.
Something about the way he treated you made you want to try to make an effort. That didn't mean that you were rolling over to show him your belly. There was something sinister lurking beneath that nice guy’s exterior. As much as you wanted to crack it, you also wanted to stay away from it. Stay in your lane, bide your time and then run.
You kept tabs on your surroundings, especially the times the guards switched and all the blind spots of the cameras.
Sleeping arrangements made you the most uncomfortable; sharing a bed with a man you barely knew was hard. Or maybe it was the fact that you were here against your will. You could tell by his displays of affection and occasional hand roaming that he wanted more from you but seemed to keep his distance until you were ready. You just weren't sure how long that courtesy would extend. Scott seemed like a man who would take what he wanted sooner or later.
Tumblr media
Your eye wandered to the clock on the oven. 11:58. Two more minutes before you were planning to book it out the back door. Hopefully, the land maps that you found in the library were accurate. If you ran straight for the wooded area, it was a straight shot to the road. Where you were praying that you'd run into a car and someone willing to take you far far away from here.
The pockets of your apron were stuffed with some cash you had found in Scott's sock drawer. That, along with a knife. You had survived on your own before, at least this time you'd have the cash to stay off the streets.
The timer went off, making you jump. It took a moment for the adrenaline to kick in but once it did, you dropped your spoon on the counter and rushed to the back door. You yanked it open, taking a brief moment to see if anyone came rushing to you. Nothing, just silence.
Needing no more of a nudge than that, you tore out the back like a rocket. The grass was soft beneath your feet as you raced over it. Hope filling your heart as the treeline came closer. You were going to make it. The weight on your chest eased as soon as you passed the treeline. You risked a look over your shoulder, sighing when there was no one on your heels. Yet. A part of your brain nagged that this was far too easy but you chose to ignore it, needing to hold onto that nugget of hope. It was such a foreign feeling.
Every tree looked identical, brushing against your arms with every step. Running wasn't your strong suit but every ounce of your strength was buzzing through your bones fueling you. Your lungs burned the further you got and your steps were slowly beginning to slow down. Deciding you were far enough from the house, you stopped running, walking at a brisk pace instead.
The house couldn't be seen from where you were and that made you feel more at ease with each step you took. Scott was going to be livid when he realized you were gone. Hopefully, you'd be long gone by that time.
The deeper you got into the woods, the more worry began to seep into your bones. You weren’t the outdoorsy type; plants were nice but actual wilderness was a different story. A rustling to your left forced you to halt and hesitate. The little bunny that came racing out made you jump and scream. You immediately slammed your hand over your mouth, eyes wide at the loud sound that escaped from your lips. You listened hard for any other footsteps coming toward you. Met with only the rustle and critter of animals.
Tumblr media
The sinking feeling of dread in your stomach worsened as you came to realize that maybe the maps were wrong. Hours had passed and you seemed no closer to finding the road. Maybe you had gotten turned around. You'd thought you were going straight but who knew? These woods couldn't go on forever, could they? You weren't even completely aware of what part of the country you were in. The woods might go on for miles upon miles. Far enough that you’d never find your way out on foot. That thought made you scared but you tried to shove it down and focus on what to do next.
Resting your head on the rough bark of the tree. Regretting the decisions you'd made. For not planning things better. If you had just stayed put, you could be taking a nice bath before dinner, or be reading a book by the fireplace. Scott had given you a good life for the first time and you went and wrecked it.
Even if you knew how to get back, you couldn’t go back at this point. There's no way he wasn't going to punish you. That dark side you were afraid of was bound to finally surface. That sent a shiver down your spine and you found the incentive to move again. Further into the woods.
Just when you were ready to give up, lay down, and admit defeat, you saw the strip of concrete up ahead of you. Worried it might be a mirage, you raced up the hill, the energy that had been waning was now refreshed. You were so happy, that you were almost about to drop to your knees and kiss the asphalt.
On shaky legs you began walking along the concrete road, ready to jump out in front of any car you encountered. Luck seemed on your side, and a car came right around the corner, racing right towards you. Without a second thought, you put yourself into the street. There were only two ways this could go. Either they stopped for you or they ran you over. Both were good options at this point. You were too desperate, thirsty, hungry, and cold to care.
Tires screeched as they came to a halt. Breath whooshed out of you with relief, hands planting down on the hood of the car. The door opened and out stepped a man you didn't recognize. You opened your mouth to ask for help when he pulled out a phone and spoke into it. "I got her, boss," he said, and your heart sank as you realized he worked for Scott. Your fight or flight kicked in as you began to back away slowly, "yes sir, she's in one piece, but let me call you back, she's trying to run again.”
He tossed the phone inside and came charging at you. Stupidly you turned your back and tried to run away. You were no match for him, catching up to you quickly. A rag came over your mouth and the world dimmed to black.
Tumblr media
Waking up felt like you were wading through a dense fog; this was a level of groggy you'd never experienced before. You tried to rub your eyes but found that you were unable to move them.
“Hello?" You forced out, your tongue heavy in your mouth. Everything felt dry and you yearned for something to drink. “Scott? Anyone?"
Scott had to be close since that man was supposed to bring you back to him.
“You're awake," Scott said and it took every ounce of your strength to turn your head to look at him. He stood leaning against the door frame, arms crossed. The soft smile on his face contradicted the rage simmering in his eyes, "I told you to be good didn't I?" He took a step closer. "I treated you nicely. Kept you fed and warm. And this is how you repay me?"
"Scott - " you started but stopped from the dryness of your throat. Showing mercy, he helped you sit up enough to drink. You greedily gulp the cool liquid, before pulling back, “You're right. I shouldn't have run. I’m sorry.”
The mattress sank as he sat beside you and he stroked your cheek softly. "You're right, you shouldn't have. But you did."
His hand trailed down your throat, fingertips teasing over your collar bones. His fingers traced the neckline of your dress, the same one you were wearing when you ran. The apron was long gone.
"I'm s-sorry," you repeated. Scott shook his head and your heart sank. He grabbed your throat, pinning you to the bed. You tugged at the silk ties on the headboard. He leaned down, getting super close to your face.
“You don't get it. I'm the puppetmaster and you're my puppet. I hold the strings and no matter how nice I am, if you step out of line, you pay the consequences.”
“Please -," you whispered. Scott grinned cruelly.
“I'm tired of letting you take advantage of my kindness,” he moved so that he was straddling your thighs. "I was going to be nice. Let you come to me at your own pace. But I think it’s time to make you mine. I want to fill you up, and watch you grow."
You bucked your hips hard, trying to dislodge him. You don't want to do this. Having his kid meant that you’d be stuck with him forever.  “Scott, I’ll be good, I swear.”
Scott growled, palming his growing erection through his pants, "keep begging, baby. Look what it does to me."
"Fuck you!" You exclaimed, knowing there was no way of this. You dug your grave and now you're gonna die in it. “You're a bastard and I fucking hate you."
Scott let out a boisterous laugh, as he worked on opening the buttons of your dress. No amount of squirming made any kind of difference.
"Doesn't matter, Puppet. This time next week you'll be my wife. And with my ring on your finger, I'm going to have to remind you of that fact. Every. Single. Night.”
Scott lifted his hips, pulling your dress up. He brunched the bottom half in his hands and tore through the remaining buttons. His hands slid up your bare sides, cupping your breasts through the cotton bra you wore. Kissing his way down your chest. His focus was solely on marking you. Your curses and threats falling on deaf ears. You were in no position to appear harmful to him.
"Tell you what, little Puppet, if I reach into these panties and you're not wet, I'll stop. Otherwise, I make you mine." Scott glanced up at you, awaiting your response. You kept silent because you knew once he reached between your legs, it was a done deal. You weren't sure what it was exactly; the touch of another, being tied up, the roughness, or just Scott himself. But you couldn't bring yourself to lie that some part - a pretty large part - wanted him to make you his. More than anything you wanted to belong to someone.
You looked him dead in the eye and nodded, accepting his terms. Scott leaned down and caught on your lips. The kiss was hard and lustful, but there was an edge of something softer, like kissing someone you loved after a long separation. You arched up into it, reveling in the softness of his lips, and the way his tongue was in sync with yours.
His hand slid down your abdomen and past the waistline of your panties. The guttural groan that escaped from his mouth made you even wetter. His fingers glided into your soaked slit, coating them before he pushed two fingers in. It was your turn to moan, enjoying the burn of the stretch. You couldn't even remember the last time anyone had touched you down there, even yourself.
Scott bit your lip, dragging it out before his lips beginning to map out all angles your jawline, and down your neck. He was taking his time. You wanted to pretend you weren’t enjoying but if you were going to be his prisoner, you might as well make the most of it.
He reached behind you to unhook your bra, tossing it aside before his mouth worshipped your soft mounds. Nipping lightly at your nipple, making you keen. Your body was in overdrive, heating up with every pass of his tongue. Every lick and kiss went straight to your core. Clenching around his stroking fingers.
“Do you need more, Puppet?" Scott asked, releasing your nipple with a loud pop. You bucked your hips needily, "use your words, darling.”
"Scott, please," you pleaded. You felt him grin against your skin, burying his head in the valley of your breasts. He kissed that spot and trailed downward. Nestling between your now spread thighs.
He sucked lewdly on his fingers, moaning at the taste of you. Not wasting a second, he shoved your panties aside and dove in. Licking and sucking like you were his last meal and he needed it like air. Savoring every inch of you. His fingers joined in his tongue’s ministrations. The two combined were almost too much for your body and you reached your climax way quicker than you expected.
You came with a soundless cry, body arching and thighs locking around his head, as wave after wave shook through your body. Scott's arms wrapped around your thighs, pulling them from his head so that he could raise his head to meet your eye. His face shone with your slick. A mischievous glint in his gaze. He climbed up your body, kissing you deeply. Tasting yourself on his tongue was the most erotic thing you'd ever done. You wanted to hold to him, grab him by the back of the head and keep him in place but with your hands still bound, you just held on to the silk ties.
Scott sat back on his knees, making quick haste of his slacks. Only pushing them down enough to free his cock. The thick shaft looked so velvety soft and warm. It was water mouthwatering. You licked your lips, wanting to taste the bead of precum perched on the slit. His thumb smeared it over the spongy head before gliding it over your folds.
You gasped, feeling the blunt tip pushing into you. He pushed in slowly, stretching you even more than his fingers. The throbbing against your sensitive walls made your eyes roll back in your head. You gripped the ties, breathing heavily.
Scott braced his hands on either side of your torso, snapping his hips forward, bottoming out. A low steady moan as he pulled out and thrust back in. Setting himself a steady pace, he kept his eyes locked on yours. Making everything so much more intimate. You were unsure how to feel but deep down it felt safe.
With each grind of his hips, every brush of his lips on your skin, every nudge against your cervix, stroke over your sweet spot, he made you his. Moans entangling, sweat dripping, bodies becoming one. The puppetmaster and his loyal puppet. The strings were his to play and you liked it.

I’m the one who mentioned imagining Story and Carter. I just read “I Own It” and I can’t. They’re too cute!
So what you’re saying is you want a bit more of Story and Carter right?  Miss Little Dreamer did invite Carter to her 17th birthday, but did he show up?
Happy Birthday, Princess
Summary:  Story turns 17
Pairings:  Carter Baizen X Story Drysdale
Rating:  fluff
Warnings:  None, 18+ ONLY
Word Count:  1.3K

You walk into Story’s bedroom, because you know that her party didn’t go the way she wanted it to.  Your little baby, despite her big personality, always seems to get overlooked.  Her oldest sisters are twins that are both living their successful lives, Blade is a genius, and Story is the one that even with her charming ways has struggled.  So, when you saw her passed out in her window nook, no doubt saying her wish to her special little star.  You press a kiss onto the top of her head, and cover her up.  “I’m sorry,” you whisper.  You aren’t sure who she was looking for, but whoever it was, didn’t show.
Closing the door softly to her tower, you walk back down to your own room to get in the bed with your grumpy husband.  He isn’t happy about Aster’s big announcement, and even worse that his baby cried at her own birthday.  Story continues to dream about a different scenario for tonight as Carter walks up to her tower.  From his angle he can’t see that she’s asleep, but he sees a soft glow coming from her room.  With a deep breath he proceeds to climb up this godforsaken trellis, slipping a few times, and when he reaches her window, seeing her fast asleep and her lips puckering out a bit, he almost, almost goes back down, and then he remembers the little box he has in his box.
Carter taps against the window a bit, and Story jumps awake, her round eyes as big as saucers, but she gives him her megawatt smile, that is one hundred percent Story Drysdale, before opening her windows, “What’re you doing Baizen?”
“Well, it was the Princess of Boston’s birthday, and I needed to issue my apologies.  I am but your loyal subject, Sir Lancelot, so if you could please let me in and out of the cold, that would be great, your highness.”
Even though Story rolls her eyes, she steps out of the way for Carter to crawl into her room.  “It’s changed a lot,” he hums looking around her room.
“Maybe because I’m not ten years old anymore.  People do grow up.”
“It’s still you though.  Were you making your wish princess?”
Story grabs her blanket, pulling it over her arms, she sits back on the bench, tapping it for Carter to join.  “I love how you’re telling me happy birthday and making fun of me at the same time.”
“I’m not.  You’re just sitting in your tower, and fell asleep at the window.  Still unlocked I see.”
“You remember that?” Carter nods a yes.  “Well, still waiting on Prince Charming to climb my tower and save me Sir Lancelot,” there is a moment where the two of them only stare at one another.  Too quiet in this tower room, and Carter quickly turns to look out the window.
“Which one is your star again?”
Story giggles, but picks up his hand to show him, “Sirius.”
“Ah, I’m not the only one that remembers.  Tell me princess why did you fall asleep so early on your birthday?”
“For one, I was waiting on someone that never showed.”
Carter shrugs his shoulder, and shakes his head, “I had some things I just couldn’t leave.  For what it’s worth, I’m sorry.  What’s the other thing?”
“Aster announced her engagement to the wonderful and boring Scott Huffman,” she mimics retching, rolling her eyes to look back out the window, afraid to see Carter’s reaction to this revelation.  “Then daddy got angry because Scott just proposed.  He never even asked daddy for his permission.  I couldn’t say yes if someone didn’t ask Ransom Drysdale.  I doubt if anyone would.  He’s really a big teddy bear, you know that right?”
“To you maybe.  You could murder somebody, and all you would have to do is put your finger around his wedding band and look up at him with those big round eyes and say, ‘Daddy, I’m sorry’,” Story laughs because it’s true.  “There it is.”
“What?”
“The smile that lights up your whole face and the room that you’re in.”
“Stop Baizen.  Why did you come here anyways?”
“I brought you a present,” he digs around in his pocket to retrieve the small box.
Story with a bit more poise opens the box, before closing it shaking her head, “Carter, no.  I can’t take this.”
“Yes, you can.  I picked it out just for you,” grabbing the box out of her hand, he wraps the diamond tennis bracelet around her wrist.  “You would always run your fingers over your moms when you were little.  I wanted you to have your own.”
“Hers is the first piece of jewelry daddy ever got her.”
“Before the engagement ring?” she nods her head.
“Mom, said it was when she knew that Ransom Drysdale loved her.  Thank you.”
“Still got your necklace on,” Story nods her head.  “You and Beau?”
“It’s weird.”
“Why?”
Story takes a deep breath and makes herself look away from Carter, “Maybe because his sister is my sister.  I’ve grown up with the kid.”
“So did Iris and James.”
“Those two are freaks of nature.  That’s not normal,” her fingers go to mess with the rose pendent, even though she isn’t aware she’s doing it, Carter can’t keep from watching the movement of the rose sliding backwards and forwards on the delicate chain.
“Is that why you still have the rose?’’ an underlying question of Carter wondering if she had given her heart or innocence to anyone.
“Something like that,” and this is what he was afraid of.  He knows that Story is like forbidden fruit.  Something that he shouldn’t touch, but like always, he’s drawn to her.  Everything about her exudes sunshine and happiness.
“So, you and Beau...?”
“We’ve kissed.  Don’t tell daddy,” Carter would never dream of mentioning anyone kissing Story.  He doesn’t even want to have this conversation, but he needs to know what her relationship status is, and how cautious he should be.  “It was nice, but weird.”
“How so?”
She turns to look at him, “He’s not the one I want to kiss.”
“Who is then?” he inches closer to her.
“I think you know.”
He gets even closer, “Just tell me.”
With a single flick of her eyes to his lips you knock on the door, “Story?  Baby, if you haven’t could you get on the bed,” the two of them pause, and Story rolls her eyes, frustrated that you stopped the kiss she’s wanted since she was a little girl.
“I’m in the bed, mom.”
Your eyes stare at the dark stained door, “Baby, I’m sorry about how tonight went.  Want me to make you some hot chocolate or something, and we can talk about who you were looking for, and how he’s an idiot for not showing up.”
Story’s eyes close and she looks at her lap, “I’m fine.  Just tired.”
“Okay, well, I love you.  Get some sleep.”
Story’s eyes stay on her lap.  Her fingers twitch, and she has no desire to look into Carter’s eyes again this evening.  “I, um, I should go.  It won’t be long until Ransom Drysdale is knocking on the door, and I don’t want to die tonight.”
“Carter?” she finally looks up at him, “Thanks.”
His fingers go to the rose pendant, thumb rubbing across the worn white rose, “Keep it safe.  Wouldn’t want unexpected people crawling up to your bedroom.  Happy birthday princess,” he leans forward to give her a kiss on the cheek.  She watches him carefully crawl down her tower.
“I was waiting on you, Sir Lancelot,” she gives him a final wave, before closing the window, still leaving it unlocked.  Thinking maybe one day, he’ll just crawl on in.  Maybe one day.

For @redhead-wine-and-literature-club Drunk In Love Challenge - Day 14 - Card... with Scott Huffman
Tumblr media
No Warnings (besides a little innuendo and kissing) but my blogs are 18+ spaces always.
Tumblr media
Valentine's Day doesn't start with a sweet caress or whispered words of love. It starts with your son jumping on the bed, hyped up by the promise of candy and excited to give you the Valentine's crafts he made in school and hid in his backpack.
"Hey, buddy," Scott's sleepy groan already making your brain go to inappropriate places as your eyes open slowly.
"One for Mommy and one for Daddy!"
You sit up and smooth the rolled up edges of the construction paper, smiling and pulling him between you and Scott for cuddles. "Happy Valentine's Day, kiddo."
"Special breakfast?"
"Special breakfast," Scott confirms with a yawn, pushing back back the comforter as he jumps off the bed and scampers from the room.
"Are you really going to get him hopped up on M&M pancakes before school?"
"Hell yeah," Scott leans over you to kiss your forehead and the tip of your nose. "Revenge on his teacher for that wake up call."
His lips touch yours and for a moment you're ready to sink back into the pillows with him...until the baby's cries fill the room from the monitor.
"To be continued," you grumble, but give him a grin after one more kiss. "Babysitter will be here at 6, do not be late. I'll have a surprise for you later."
"I won't be late," he wiggles his eyebrows at you comically and you laugh. "A card?"
"Of course."
"A new dress?"
"Nope. An old favorite. What's under the dress, however..."

Note
Hi Navy! Thank you very much for continuing to play with us and share content. Could I kindly ask you what about the following characters appealed to you so much that they became your favorites or your ones to really watch? What about them earned them a special place in your heart:
Jax teller // Bucky // Andy barber // destroyer Chris
I'm happy you lovelies want to indulge with me, nonnie! ❤️ Some thoughts under the cut.
Tumblr media
One of the reasons I love Jax is because he isn't perfect by any means and I appreciate that in a character. He could be cool and collected or angry and violent depending on the situation. He loved his family and tried to do better for the club. He was also unfaithful and did at least one unredeemable thing.
A tragic antihero who made both good and bad decisions, fanfiction can expand upon his character and give him a happy ending.
Tumblr media
Bucky. I have so many things to say about this man. Especially depending on which version we speak of. The charming, brave Sergeant, the resilient man who went into hiding, the sassy and grumpy guy adjusting to modern times and dealing with his trauma. I wish some of the people behind the MCU would quit calling him a villain. The man was tortured and brainwashed by HYDRA. His freedom and choices were taken away from him.
And he still tries to make amends for things out of his control. He still goes into the fight even when he's tired. He puts a step forward and does his best to adapt to the world around him. He's a hero and I love him.
Tumblr media
Besides being attracted to Andy's look, the family man with the hint of darkness beneath the surface wormed his way into my heart. Hardworking men who want to give the best to their family are sexy as hell to me. Also a reason I love Scott Huffman.
And Andy, with his flaws, wanted to protect what he had. Especially with his history, he wanted something good to hold onto. Watching it fall apart broke my heart. I'll happily step in to make it better. Make me a housewife.
Tumblr media
Destroyer!Chris deserved so much better than what he got. He was a good man doing his job. I can't imagine the mental and physical toll of going undercover and taking on a whole new persona. And even being hesitant to participate in the event where it all went to hell, he did it because the woman he loved beg him to.
Loyal, loving, dangerously sexy, I want to fix his ending and give him the world.
*****
I want them all. Love and thanks. ❤️

OK, December 21
You can buy a copy of this issue for your very own at my eBay store: https://www.ebay.com/str/bradentonbooks
Cover: Queen Elizabeth cancels Christmas

Page 1: Big Pic -- David Beckham in an ad for Haig Club
Page 2: Contents
Tumblr media
Page 4: Bella and Olivia Jade Giannulli -- life on their own -- find out what Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s daughters have been up to while their famous parents sweat it out in prison -- Bella has been so stressed out and felt she deserved a trip with her buds so she went to a luxury resort in Santa Barbara over Thanksgiving weekend
Page 6: It’s been a little over a year since Felicity Huffman was released from prison after serving her time for role in the college admissions scandal but she is finally starting to get her life and career back on track -- initially she was nervous about working again given the controversy and everything that went down and she seriously wondered if there would be anything out there for her material-wise but she shouldn’t have worried as she landed a part in an upcoming pilot in which she’ll play a recently widowed owner of a Triple-A baseball team and she’s really excited about the show
Page 7: Kristin Cavallari is fed up with Carrie Underwood’s meddling in her divorce from Jay Cutler -- after Kristin called time on her seven-year marriage Carrie and her husband Mike Fisher who used to be Nashville couple-friends to both Kristin and Jay have taken Jay’s side and since then there’s been some snide stuff said that’s made it clear how Carrie really fills about Kristin -- while Jay spent Thanksgiving with Carrie and Mike, Kristin filmed a wine-fueled Instagram Live and Carrie finds this type of thirsty behavior on social media incredibly lame and she’s saying it’s obvious Kristin cares more about upping her profile than making any type of family peace
* After nearly 60 years in showbiz Cher has a different aspirations -- since traveling to Pakistan to help a mistreated elephant from a local zoo be relocated to an animal sanctuary she’s saying this is her new mission to help endangered species in third world countries and campaign for other good eco causes -- Cher spends much of her time cooped up and bored in her Malibu mansion and her trip made her realize there’s a world out there that needs her help
* Mark Harmon of NCIS is all work and no play these days and nearly two decades in the same TV gig as Leroy Gibbs has only made things worse as the responsibilities of the show seem to wear heavier on Mark by the year and even on a break you can’t get him to crack a smile or tell a joke; he’d rather go lie down in his trailer -- off set Mark and his wife of 33 years Pam Dawber get along because they’re such homebodies and Mark can usually be found working on his cars in the garage or relaxing in the yard and he cherishes his quiet time but people have stopped inviting him out because he’s known as Mr. Boring
Page 8: Dolly Parton is spreading Christmas cheer far and wide with a new TV special and album and Netflix movie but at her home in Tennessee the holiday spirit is decidedly lacking because Dolly is forgoing her favorite 40-year-running traditions which are filling her house with trees and driving her nieces and nephews and their kids around her farm in golf carts dressed as Santa and handing out presents because of her concern for her husband Carl Dean who has Alzheimer’s disease and he’s in a high-risk group for coronavirus so she’s restricted the property to just them and two staff members -- it breaks Dolly’s heart to have to cancel her big annual celebration and she’s still decorated her home to the nines but it’s a lonely feeling knowing the family won’t be there to see it
* Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton are proving themselves to be perfectly postmodern parents by raising their kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with firm rules for TV and electronic use -- Kate who recently revealed she’s fielded her share of temper tantrums actively attempts to stave off meltdowns with a strict rewards chart and the kids have to earn screen time -- Kate prefers to keep them busy with activities like board games and hikes and baking which the children enjoy anyway
* After spending the last several years living a relatively low-key life in his native England Russell Brand is desperate to have a bigger presence in Hollywood but his wife Laura insists he stay put -- Russell’s craving SoCal living and the copious acting jobs and event invites that came with it but Laura prefers their British life outside the spotlight with their young daughters -- while some work has come to him in England like the upcoming Death on the Nile if he had his way he’d make a more aggressive career push in L.A.
Page 10: Red Hot on the Red Carpet -- stars stand out in festive green dresses -- Carly Pearce, Angela Bassett, Zendaya
Page 11: Jodie Comer, Adriana Lima
Page 12: Who Wore It Better? Melissa Gorga vs. Jennifer Lahmers, Abigail Spencer vs. Hailey Bieber in Max Mara, Olivia Culpo vs. Aurora Culpo
Page 14: News in Photos -- Brooke Burke with Christmas ornaments that will be auctioned by non-profit Operation Smile
Page 16: Audrina Patridge brought along her daughter Kirra’s favorite toys for a picnic in Beverly Hills, Padma Lakshmi visits The Vitamin Shoppe in NYC, Brandy at the BET Soul Train Awards
Page 17: Kelly Rutherford felt the love from her dogs in L.A., Shawn Mendes out for a walk in Miami
Page 21: Robin Wright and husband Clement Giraudet held hands while riding their bikes in L.A., long-time friends Gabrielle Union and Snoop Dogg unpacked ingredients delivered by Shipt
Page 22: Josh Duhamel on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Karlie Kloss on her new Adidas collection
Page 24: Vanessa Hudgens snuggled up to her beloved pup Darla while at the park in L.A., Jay-Z taking a walk around the island in Hawaii
Page 25: Kimora Lee Simmons and her children handed out food to residents of a housing complex, Prince Jackson safely helped a community church distribute food to those in need
Page 26: Inside My Home -- Ariel Winter’s stylish setup
Page 28: Like most Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood have had a challenging 2020 but their 15-year marriage was put to the test this past summer when the country superstars’ daughter Allie tested positive for Covid-19 -- they were worried sick and had to go into quarantine themselves and not being able to hold Allie’s hand was terrible for both of them but fortunately Allie’s case was mild and Garth and Trisha’s tests came back negative
Page 30: Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott who have amicably coparented their daughter Stormi since their split last year and recently spent Thanksgiving together as a family are drawing up plans to have another baby together in 2021 because both of them want to give Stormi a sibling ASAP and neither can imagine going through this process with anyone else -- the exes are figuring out a contract to specify their family plans that will protect Kylie’s money and outline coparenting terms more formally and give them each an agreeable share of custody if things don’t stay as rosy down the line
* They’ve costarred in five films and have proclaimed they’re each other’s work wives and are finally single at the same time so pals of Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis are urging the longtime friends to give it a go romantically especially now that Jason has split from Olivia Wilde -- Jennifer always says Jason makes her laugh the way no one else can -- while Jason’s primarily focusing on coparenting his kids he’s long harbored warm and fuzzy feelings toward Jen and he would love to ask her out but the only thing holding him back is the potential to ruin their solid friendship
* Love Bites -- Johnny Galecki and Alaina Meyer split, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky dating, Jonathan Bennett and Jaymes Vaughan engaged
Page 31: Matthew Perry’s loved ones are worried the Friends star has made a rash call by suddenly getting engaged to literary manager Molly Hurwitz -- the on-off two-year romance between Matthew and Molly has been dysfunctional from the get-go and Matthew’s way more into this than Molly who seems to love him more like a brother
* A rough year for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle including inter-family strife and a move across the pond and a devastating miscarriage has only strengthened their bond -- after Meghan revealed she and Harry had miscarried in July the two were quite overwhelmed by the outpouring of compassion and the response not only validated their decision to go public a thousand times over but it also helped them grow even closer -- they’re determined to put this behind them and try for another baby at the earliest opportunity but more than anything else it’s really underlined how they belong together as soulmates
Page 32: Cover Story -- Queen Elizabeth’s holiday shake-up -- inside the monarch’s heartbreaking decision to call off the family’s annual Christmas celebration -- the queen will celebrate the holidays at Windsor Castle in Berkshire for the first time in more than three decades -- while the queen is upset not to have the company of the younger royals this year she has to think about her and Prince Philip’s health
Page 36: Katie Holmes’ season of joy -- how Katie is spending the holidays with her new love Emilio Vitolo Jr.

Phoebe in Wonderland (2008)
Tumblr media
I had no idea what Phoebe in Wonderland was about as I prepared to watch it. A reimagining/reinvention/interpretation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland? That’s been done time and time again. I was enthusiastic when I realized that this is not the case.
9-year-old Phoebe (Elle Fanning), has problems fitting in. She insists on performing strange rituals throughout the day, has fits at random, and is described as a troublemaker by her teachers. Her antics are putting a strain on her family. Her mother (Felicity Huffman) and father (Bill Pullman) are surprised when her odd ticks disappear while rehearsing for the school’s upcoming production of Alice in Wonderland.
When I realized what Phoebe in Wonderland was about, I saw two ways the film could go wrong. First, by being soft and glossing over how difficult it can be to deal with a mental illness (I’m using this term to avoid giving too much away). The second would be by giving the young performers more than they could handle.
Not only is the acting good; the kids in this movie are some of the best I've seen in a long time. When you see Phoebe cry, you'd swear they were candid moments they're so genuine. It isn't merely her lines that are delivered well, it's the mannerisms, and the energy she projects. Elle Fanning portrays a multi-faceted character that can come off as either perfectly normal or in desperate need of help depending on the situation. It's doubly impressive when we first see Phoebe struggling with her lines in the play. Can you imagine how difficult it must be to be for a good actress to pretend to be a character that can’t act? It would be like trying to ask an Olympic runner to finish last but without arousing suspicion. It takes a special talent to pull it off.
Phoebe in Wonderland is honest about how difficult children can affect the people around them. If you've lived with people who have behavioral problems, Aspergers, autism, or even something extreme like Tourette’s syndrome you will find that writer/director Daniel Barnz nails it. If you don't know what it's like, this picture will give you a good idea. Dare I call it educational? Ever been inside a supermarket and witnessed parents standing idly by while their children go ballistic? You wonder what level of denial the adults must experience to let things play out. That gets addressed in this movie. No one's at fault but it's obvious Phoebe’s mother is either in denial or so reluctant to admit something wrong that she's actually neglecting her daughter's needs by thinking she can take care of Phoebe on her own.
Some scenes with the adults feel artificial. The school principal (Campbell Scott), for instance. He's so stuffy and rigid that I might have bought it if he was on the edge of retirement, or very new and wanted to put his foot down to show that he was capable of the job. Everything else, from the fantasy sequences to the costumes, performances, and the way the subject material is handled expertly. Every detail feels carefully chosen to tell a personal and honest story. I highly recommend Phoebe in Wonderland to parents that might encounter this issue, for people who live it or who want to experience what it's like. (On DVD, March 15, 2015)

In his 2018 skit on Supreme, Hasan Minaj, the patron comic of hype culture, said, “Without objects that make me stand out, what am I? Then I just have to be myself, and that’s terrifying, because I am insecure and I need things to make me feel better about myself.” In a couple of sentences, he deftly drilled to the core of the fuccboi psyche: a deep-seated insecurity about one’s own worth and an equally deep-seated desire to prove that worth to others.
Both the clinical and the cultural term for this state is Narcissism.
Narcissism is often confused with egotism or mere selfishness, but while it may contain elements of both, it’s driven not by an outsized sense of self-respect but by self-loathing, which leads to inexorable desire and strife for approval from others. “It’s a very insecure personality, and all the stuff on the outside – the grandiosity, the arrogance, the entitlement – is a suit of armor to buttress a weak interior core, because on the subconscious level narcissists think that others will see that they are not all that,” Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a best-selling author and an expert on narcissism, told me.
Narcissism is nothing new, but the level of narcissism on display in our culture is unprecedented – Dr. Ramani calls it the disease of our time. In his prophetic 1979 bestseller The Culture of Narcissism, the sociologist Christopher Lasch dissected a milieu of mass media that gave more and more coverage to celebrities, narcissistic role models whose behavior was increasingly beginning to be condoned, excused, and explained away. He blamed the rise of the narcissistic personality on “proliferation of images” and “the cult of consumption,” among other things. Fast-forward to 2020, and 1979 looks positively quaint in the age of social media, for there is no bigger driving engine of narcissism than social media platforms such as Instagram.
In the decade since its launch, much has been said about how Instagram has democratized media, but it simultaneously open-sourced Narcissism that was formerly reserved for a celebrity elite. Today, with the rise of Gen Z, this tendency reaches another dimension on TikTok. “Everybody on the app has some form of narcissism,” TikTokker Liv Huffman told Highsnobiety in our special zine about the platform’s stars. “You kind of have to in order to put yourself on the Internet like that.”
Having unleashed the technological means of disseminating narcissism with the one hand, contemporary culture has continued to manufacture models for narcissistic behavior in ever increasing numbers with the other. Contemporary pop music is filled to the brim with rappers whose lyrics are all about the display of their possessions. What began as a legitimate hip-hop lyrical device for expressing a sense of pride in lifting oneself up by attaining markers of American success previously possessed only by its white ruling class, has by now devolved into an exhibitionist trope. And just like the generations before them, today’s youth seeks to emulate the behavior of their favorite musicians. Every middle-schooler knows what it means to “flex” and there is no shortage of eleven-year-olds begging their mommies for the next pair of Travis Scott Dunks.
Hype culture is uniquely positioned to tap into the narcissistic world order by creating artificial scarcity and equating the possession of limited edition goods with self-worth. Conspicuous consumption is the defining consumer behavior of the day, but underneath its hood purrs the motor of narcissism turbocharged by a culture that has given us Donald Trump and Kanye West, two narcissists par excellence. Both are incredibly insecure and both – despite being on top of the world – constantly crave adulation and approval of others (West’s narcissism may be further complicated by his alleged bipolar disorder). And both are aided and abetted by their respective fan bases that readily forgive their transgressions thereby enabling them further. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that hip-hop fans seem to be especially tolerant towards narcissistic behavior of musicians, even when it’s misogynistic or generally sadistic.
Before you roll your eyes at my perceived alarmism that Grailed is poisoning the minds of a generation, consider that in this state of affairs no one is innocent. Study after study shows that despite economic progress and general increase in quality of life, members of contemporary society feel more and more unhappy. Other studies show that social media, Instagram in particular, have a negative effect on self-esteem that stems from the permeating feeling of anxiety and envy. Simply put, you can flex all you want, but there will always be someone with a bigger flex. And once you are on the hype treadmill, its very nature makes it hard to get off.
“In [the hype] world narcissists festoon themselves with the latest sneakers, or the latest streetwear, and in that moment they are safe. But then that moment when the world is telling you that you are great, which for the narcissist is better than drugs, is gone and you continue chasing the high,” said Dr. Ramani. On top of this, the culture of narcissism makes one feel inadequate for not owning something. “The entire way fashion is marketed is that if you don’t have that latest something, you are lacking,” continued Dr. Ramani.
Likes don’t make you happy. Not only that, it increasingly seems that possessions in themselves don’t make you happy either, as evidenced by rampant reselling in the streetwear world. Hypebeasts no longer seem to be able to experience the gratifying sense of ownership that comes with purchasing something meaningful and actually keeping it. Resell culture itself is a product of narcissism, because each sale subsidizes the next purchase and creates the social media illusion that one owns more than one actually does. This practice strips the product down only to being fodder for a fit pic, and essentially creates a short-term rental culture driven by Instagram and Stockx. As Lasch put it, late capitalism “subordinates possession itself to appearance and measures exchange value as a commodity’s capacity to confer prestige – the illusion of prosperity and well-being.”
The antidote to narcissism is authenticity, which is a deeper sense of self that provides an anchoring of one’s character that doesn’t change with trends. In matters of taste, authenticity also furnishes one with a clear sense of style. Authenticity forms over time through a series of experiences and experimentations, which is why we probably see the new fashion fans bought forth by hype culture getting younger and younger.
As productive conversations about mental health grow, so too are we now coming to terms with how we as a society are less and less happy. Narcissism has a large role to play here. As our sense of self-gratification keeps on infinitely expanding, our capacity to form lasting, meaningful relationships with other humans is degrading. The millennial marketing world’s incessant calls to “live your best life” are misguided in pegging our sense of self-worth to wrong types of rewards, fleeting and material. Underneath all the talk about inspiration, community, and culture sits a basic set of transactional relationships, whose real message is not “love yourself,” but “treat yourself.”
When Covid-19 hit, some predicted a return to a more substantive world, in which our collective narcissistic drive would be diminished. In fact, in a study done by Highsnobiety in the wake of the shelter in place orders, the readers interviewed overwhelmingly denounced their interest in logos and other markers of conspicuous consumption, instead claiming a newfound interest in minimalism and quality-oriented purchase decisions. Two-thirds of those polled that they actively felt bad about flexing outwardly with their purchases during a time when millions were tightening their belts.
However, long-term this could be more wishful thinking rather than a real change, and we continue to see the same pre-Covid behavior with each hyped release. Less than two weeks ago the new Off-White x Jordan drop caused yet another mad dash. The Atlanta streetwear store Wish received over 60,000 hits to its website within the first couple of seconds after the 10 a.m. scheduled release. Its website crashed, as did the websites of Nike and Off-White. “We would’ve needed servers the size of Coca-Cola’s to handle that much traffic,” said Wish’s representative.
We often talk about streetwear in terms of “the culture.” But in the last decade this term went from describing subcultural movements and their values to excusing run-of-the-mill consumerist behavior. Brands, many of which are the ones screaming loudest about “the culture,” don’t mind this state of affairs at all because it propels the hype bullet train, enriching them along the way. The thing is, happy people are not good for the system. Dr. Ramani sums it up best: “Capitalism would fall apart tomorrow if everyone on the planet was secure in themselves.”
