"I hate human food," the alien grumbles, using their third prehensile tail to call up the one human they trust more than any on the human internet
"Hey!" The human is wet, fresh from their hygiene rituals, but bright eyed, nice and awake. "What's up?"
The alien holds up the bowl to the camera
"What is wrong with this see-re-all? It's not getting soft like it did before!"
The human leans in and their eyes narrow.
"... That's..." They look up at the alien's face. "That's not cereal. That's oatmeal. Steal cut oatmeal."
"And?" The alien asks.
"It's raw," the human says. "You have to cook it."
"What do you mean, cook it?" The alien says, suspicious. "Raw food is good for you, you said!"
"Not for everything," the human protests. "Humans can't process everything raw! Just most fruits and like, half of all vegetables."
"All of which are terrible," the alien says. "Meat is the better choice for food, and you know it."
The human is about to point out that cereal is not meat and they sure do enjoy it, only to do a double take.
"... Are you in my house?"
The alien stiffens. "Er. Ahem. Uh..."
"I thought you said you wouldn't be back until after I was!" The human says. "It'll be another three hours until my flight home! What are you-"
"That's the doorbell I need to answer that I gotta run see you love you-"
"Wait! Hold on!" Too late. Call ended. The human shakes their head. They stare at where the holo-screen was. "Love you?" They repeat in the silence of their hotel room.
The alien sags. That was close. They hadn't been thinking. If they'd been in another part of the apartment, the human would've seen the balloons and the game would end before it began, as their people said. It was traditional to have a celebration when all members of the clan came home. Decorations, a feast, games, and more. The "more" is a bit risky, but, they're sure their human will be open to it. After all, eating meat wasn't just a literal thing in either of their societies, it could also be slang for...
A curse left them. Cake! Where are they supposed to get cake?! Their human loves that quick energy nonsense!
Back to the internet they went.

Oddly Specific Writing Prompts
A collection of oddly-specific AUs, writing prompts, and mini-plots that have been kicking around in my brain for wayyyyy too long. Alternatively titled: Fics I would write if I cared enough <3
cyberpunk au, heist au
Where person A and person B steal an incredibly famous painting/item/relic for their art/history loving friend as a gag gift for their birthday, with surprising success. Museum theft may or may not turn into a regular thing~
fantasy au, adventure au
Where kingdom A is losing the battle against an ancient evil/other kingdom and person A is insistent that a long-gone-missing mysterious race of magic users is the answer to their impending doom.
post-apocalypse au, scifi au
Where person A has lived their whole life behind the four-foot-thick walls of the bunker that has protected their group from earth’s tainted state for three generations. Person B’s group has adapted and re-engineered their life on the surface with incredible technological advancements. The two groups of survivors meet for the first time through four feet of glass.
college au, werewolf au
Where Person A sits to read/draw at the same spot in the woods every Tuesday afternoon, and a very fluffy, very large, very friendly stray dog (or so it seems) likes to sit and watch/listen.
pet owner au
Where Person A asks to pet person B’s dog, and starts crying because they just love!! dogs!! so!! much!! And he’s so fluffy! And well behaved!! What a good boy~!
scifi au, cyberpunk au
Where, in the year 2072, social media presence has evolved into a full-blown digital landscape where individuals can live free of harm to their physical bodies. When person A’s tech-savvy sister flees to VR space after a fight wither their parents, person A recruits person B’s help to track down her sister’s consciousness and convince her to attend Thanksgiving dinner.
fantasy au, royalty au
Where a runaway prince(ss) comes home to the throne after having been missing for a decade, and the royal family is rejoicing. Problem is, the real heir is still in hiding, and they do not support the new, tyrannical rules their fake self is instituting.

Humans as deathworlder space orcs story idea: Humanity makes contact with a highly advanced alien race before we ever even come close to figuring out FTL technology. Instead of trying to kill or enslave us they decide to uplift us. In exchange for access to their advanced technologies humanity agrees to help the aliens in their exploration of other hostile worlds which they have found too dangerous to explore. And also serve as shock troops against other more aggressive aliens. The friend aliens are basically space bees. So many...very intimidating...but ultimately very delicate and peaceful.

"We're trapped!" The small Sandwing dragonet cried, his wings flapped a few times in fear. His eyes widened with terror. He snapped his head towards his sister, who was just as terrified as him.
She was trembling alongside him. "Don't worry [Name]! I- I will get us out of here somehow!" She said, trying to sound reassuring while the fear in her eyes betrayed her voice.
The two little dragonets suddenly heard a raspy laugh from behind them, they both turned around only to see a caged up Seawing. The Seawing looked slightly dehydrated but not enough for him to be completely insane.
"Sorry little ones...there ain't no way out of this laboratory." The Seawing grunted, he had metal chains wrapped around his neck, his wrists and his torso, practically forcing his wings to stay close. "Once you've entered this forsaken place, you're stuck." He laughed a bit.
However, he didn't sound too happy. The two dragonets looked even more terrified now.

Fifty years ago, they said cyborgs were an impossible fantasy. Grafting cybernetic components onto human flesh is tricky, to say the least, but they still finally managed the feat—and the result is terrifying. Warriors shoot EMPs, darts, and bullets out of their fingertips. Men and women seduce, only to inject their targets with venom or mind-controlling drugs. Bodies can jack into any variation of computer port developed. There are bulletproof shields and instant connections with the digital world. A special few have even had their mechanical feet outfitted with thrusters. The possibilities are endless. You've always found the world of cyborgs to be frightening. Those warriors are a class above your own, and you've had the good fortune to fight only regular human beings your entire life. Yet when you lose an arm, a leg, and your left ear in an explosion, the military wants to contract you to become part of their newest cyborg squad. You will have to go up against the world's worst, but your wife and daughter will live the best possible life. Plus, you'll get to fly.

What if we haven’t encountered aliens yet because our entire solar system is on lock-down, but not for any real obvious reason you could probably think of...but because the concept of EATING is unique to us and our world. Like the fact everything on our planet has evolved a requirement to consume the life of other creatures in order to sustain ourselves.
Like, think about it. If all other forms of life are self sustaining or subsists on energy...how would life on our world seem? How horrifying? Everything...even the smallest living single celled organism has to kill and take from another living organism to continue existing.
Even our plant-life has to absorb the nutrients of decayed matter to live.
Now imagine you’re an alien and you visit...and some bacteria gets on your clothes or ship or what have you and now...this predatory thing exists in your home where it never did before...
How devastating would something like that prove?
Also how silly that we have monsters like vampires in our legends which are seen as scary...but we’re all like that...why is it scary? We’re all life stealers.
Our planet isn’t just a hell world...it’s a hell world made up of nothing but murder beasts that have to kill just to live.
Then...we finally get the ability to leave our solar system and the first thing we encounter is a bunch of emergency beacons around our solar system warning people away. Keeping everyone out is one thing...keeping us in was a whole new problem.
