The End and The Beginning: Graduation Ceremony, Farewell Parties, and Entrance Ceremony
It’s about that time of year when school comes to an end, at least, it is in Japan. In America, we’re used to the September to June school schedule, but Japan’s schools run from April to March. This means the school year ended a few weeks ago and is just starting back up after a couple of weeks of spring break (for the students, not really for the teachers, at least not in my area). As such, I’ve just been through a lot of firsts: first graduation ceremony, first farewell party, and first entrance ceremony.
Depending on whether you have one school or many, you may be asked to attend the school’s graduation ceremony and entrance ceremony, which are usually held in the school gym. While I wasn’t asked specifically to attend either, if the day I was there overlapped with when they were happening, the schools made sure I knew where to go and what to do. The graduation ceremony at my middle school was short, about an hour, just long enough to watch the 3rd years (9th graders) graduate. The entrance ceremony at my elementary school, on the other hand, was a little more than an hour, maybe an hour and a half. For that one, they did ask me to stand with all the teachers when they announced our names and classes at the end. The entrance ceremony seemed mostly geared towards welcoming the students and the new teachers, which put me in a strange position because it was my first entrance ceremony, but I wasn’t exactly new. It also sounds like there was another entrance ceremony specifically for the first graders that weekend.
The other important event that comes with the end of the school year is the farewell parties. Known as sobetsukai (送別会) in Japanese, these farewell parties are for the teachers to–well–say farewell to any teachers leaving the school or retiring. They’re held after hours and are a nice, less formal environment to get to know the teachers you work with, especially non-English teachers who you don’t normally talk to. They usually hold events like these throughout the year for teachers to mingle, but because of Covid, this was the first time any of my schools has held one. Or, in my case, two, because two of my four schools invited me. Beware, though, they are hard on your budget. One of my farewell parties was 7,700 yen (about $77) and the other was 100,000 yen ($100)! But as long as you’re willing to pay that, you’re in for a fun night of fancy food and lots of drinks. At one farewell party, they even put bottles of beer on the table for people to pick up and use to refill other’s drinks. One of the English teachers told me this was a typical way to mingle at these parties, but it didn’t happen at the other one, so I can’t be too sure.
And if you’re lucky, you might also be invited to a second party (nijikai / 二次会) or even a third (sanjikai / 三次会). After the fancy farewell party, any teachers that aren’t ready to go home will head to another bar or izakaya where things get even less formal in the more casual environment. It’s almost a little like barhopping. We went to a separate bar for nijikai at both my schools, and one school invited me to sanjikai which was basically just late-night soba. That school’s teachers said that you have to end the night with noodles, but I haven’t been able to confirm that either.
These end- and beginning-of-the-year events are a great way to become more a part of the community at your school (or schools). It can be especially hard to get involved in everyday things, like clubs and afterschool activities, if you have multiple schools, but these one-day events are a great way to get to know teachers and be there for your students. While the ceremonies might seem tedious, especially if you can’t understand any of the Japanese, and the parties are expensive, I highly recommend them if you want to make the most of your time working at a Japanese school.

the c in NRC stands for cat
synopsis: in which heartslabyul deals with a cat loving no-magic having ramshackle prefect. (headcanons) gn!yuu
Tumblr media
RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS
when he saw you clinging to the raccoon-cat-thing at the entrance ceremony, he did not know how to react.
normal people would panic. normal people would avoid a fire-breathing monster-cat-whatever that was spewing absolute nonsense.
apparently not you, though. although, one could say you already aren’t normal, considering the lack of magic. it wasn’t just not that much potential, you were basically in the negatives.
anyways, cats.
he got a peek under your ceremonial robes, and you were wearing..
a pajama shirt with a cat print on it. it looked horrendous.
riddle himself grew up with.. well, a cat. beastperson. so he probably would only have a surface level of appreciation for their greatness.
6/10 for cat lovers, i guess. he wouldn’t really mind, but he’d think it a tad strange. lower points because it took him a while to finally start letting grim into areas of festivity.
Tumblr media
TREY CLOVER
this guy has siblings. like, siblings siblings. he’s used to being around people with strange interests (his brother tried to feed him a live insect once. not fun).
so, i’m sure he appreciates that your interests are on the much safer side of the wide, wide spectrum.
except when the two of you hang out while he’s baking and suddenly ace and deuce are complaining about cat hair in their tarts.
please do not bring your cats in the kitchen, thank you very much.
he’d feed your cat(s)! very sweet guy.
8/10 for cat lovers! good ascend from riddles, except two points taken from him because one, the Cat™ isn’t allowed in the kitchen and two, he just seems like a dog person to me.
Tumblr media
CATER DIAMOND
please do not turn the great grim into a marketable plushie.
cater.
just kidding, he wouldn’t do that.
or would he?
i think he’d be a good cat co-parent! just like trey, i think he’d feed your cat when you can’t, he’d catsit while you’re in class.. etc, etc.
mostly because the posts he makes of your cat blow up, but also because he likes your cat!
the level fluctuates depending if this cat is grim or not. please do not ask me why.
8/10 for cat lovers! not bad, not bad at all! except, now there’s merch of grim- and while he’s proud of himself (this is only to be expected for the great grim! according to him), you just wish you got some of the revenue.
Tumblr media
ACE TRAPPOLA
no.
just, no.
i think he’d look at a cat litter and go, “what’s that?”. maybe he’d even try to sniff it.
gives off grew up with a dog vibes, i don’t know why.
he goes like “EUGH” when he finds cat hair in the food you made for him.
you felt kinda bad, but he ate it anyways while complaining. you were pretty conflicted.
he’d be.. i don’t know. unremarkable. not that good, though.
5/10 for the cat lovers. no comment. this gremlin, i swear.
Tumblr media
DEUCE SPADE
he LITERALLY isn’t any better than ace.
maybe he used to feed some of the stray cats on the way home from school when he was in elementary, but that’s probably the extent of his experience.
will also complain about cat hair. politely.
“uhm.. i think grims hair is in my soup?” kind of polite. except he’s grimacing and staring at grim like the cat just insulted his mother and all his ancestors.
he will also sniff your cat litter. and grim will laugh in the heartslabyul first year duo’s faces.
thanks, grim.
5/10 for the cat lovers.. again. he’s really just the same. he’d probably be nicer than ace, but the latter just has more experience with pets. probably. hopefully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
special guest, IDIA SHROUD!
do i even need to say anything?
you two have matching cat print pajamas. ortho would cry tears of joy if he could.
you bring your cats to ignihyde and you all hang out. <3
you, idia, and your 23 cats. it really is the life.
he paid you in genesis crystals for permission to pat one of your cats on the head.
you two have a cat lovers gc where you just send cat pictures and talk about your cats, very fun.
10/10 for cat lovers!  first ever 10/10, and it’s from idia shroud? riddle is seething. great cat parent! though, he’s a bit attached. it’s okay, though, he buys your cats toys.

Looking back, Lilia vividly remembers the day you arrived in Twisted Wonderland. Amidst the grand spectacle of the entrance ceremony, particularly with Grim's frantic attempts to avoid being captured, there was something about you that captured his attention. Maybe it was the distinct curiosity shining in your eyes, navigating through an entirely foreign world with a blend of composure and uncertainty. Whatever it was, he found himself wanting to reach out and make you feel welcome.
He started looking out for you without even realizing it. He began with small gestures, like offering help with your studies when he found you hunched over a book in the library or popping down from the ceiling to help you find a classroom. He enjoyed seeing your smile brighten whenever you grasped a new concept or conquered a challenge. It felt good to be there for you, to share his experiences and insights.
As time went on, your interactions blossomed into a regular occurrence. Hours seemed to melt away as you engaged in conversations about anything and everything, exchanging stories of your homeland and experiences while he eagerly recounted his adventures from various countries. Among the students, you were the only one to actively praise his cooking, willingly joining him in the kitchen. These shared moments became cherished moments for Lilia, feeling a connection forming between you that he couldn't quite explain.
But it wasn't until much later that he realized the true depth of his feelings. They had silently amassed over time, creeping up on him when he least expected it. Suddenly, he found myself thinking about you all the time, wondering how you were and yearning to see your smile once more.
Just as his thoughts drifted to you, a familiar laughter dances through the air, drawing his attention. Turning towards its source, he finds himself captivated by the scene unfolding before him. The sun bathes the school courtyard in a radiant golden hue, casting a warm, inviting glow upon everything it touches. There you are, seated on the grass with legs crossed, skillfully weaving delicate tulip flowers into a crown.
Curiosity piqued, he approaches quietly, not wanting to interrupt your moment of concentration. As he draws nearer, you glance up, your eyes shimmering with delight and a mischievous grin playing upon your lips.
"Lilia!" you exclaim, a hint of surprise colouring your tone. "What perfect timing! I've made something for you."
With a graceful flourish, you hold up the tulip flower crown, presenting it as if it were a priceless gem. Each vibrant petal seems to shimmer and sway in the sunlight, casting a spell of enchantment over the surroundings. The delicate blooms, ranging in hues from deep crimson to soft pastel pink, are meticulously arranged in a circular formation, creating a majestic crown fit for royalty.
"You made this for me?" he asks, a wry grin on his face. He can't help but think it suits you far better.
"Of course!" You reply, your grin widening. "Don’t you think it’ll enhance your cuteness?"
A huff of laughter escapes him as you delicately place the crown upon his head, adjusting it until it sits just right. He can't help but feel a rush of affection towards you, grateful for your kindness and the undeniable warmth you bring into his life.
As you step back to admire your handiwork, your gaze meets his, and time seems to stand still. He finds himself entranced by the sparkle in your eyes, the way your smile reaches all the way to your soul.
It is then, with the sun kissing your skin and the scent of tulips filling the air, that he realises just how deeply he cares for you. In your laughter, in your playful gestures, he found a love he hadn't known existed, a love that filled him with a warmth unlike anything he'd ever felt before. And as he looks into your eyes, his own heart overflowing with emotion, he knows that he has fallen completely, utterly in love.
"Rather than me," he begins, lifting the flower crown from his head and gently placing it upon yours. "I believe it enhances your cuteness far more effectively."
He watches with rapt attention as a delicate flush blossoms across your cheeks, like the soft petals of a rose responding to the morning sun. The warmth of embarrassment paints your features with a gentle hue, adding a touch of ethereal beauty to your already captivating presence. In that moment, your eyes widen slightly, reflecting a mixture of surprise and affection, like sparkling jewels illuminated by a ray of sunlight.
Truly, the deepest of loves.

Satoru Gojo
[Chapter 2] Time
← Previous Chapter - Story Masterlist - Next Chapter →
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Satoru Gojo x f!Reader
Discord +18 - Twitter - Ko-Fi
Tumblr media
Time is confusing, and you realize so when you stand in front of the Gojo estate after four years of not coming anywhere near it. It feels like forever the last time you stood right in front of the main entrance, but time feels like it’s going so fast. As you stand in front of the door, you feel a lump in your throat. Your hands are shaking, and you’re trying your best to calm yourself down before bringing your hand to ring the doorbell. You got past the front gate– You definitely have to go through with this now.
Last time you heard from Satoru was when he ended things with you. You remember foolishly waiting for him to call again, but he never did. When you tried to contact him, his number changed. And the last time you stood in front of this door, you were hiding the fact that you were five months pregnant. You came to share the news with Satoru because he deserved to know that you were carrying his child, even if he didn’t want anything to do with you. But his mother opened the door only to announce to you that he had gotten married. You can recall the exact words she told you,
“He went on a vacation before going back to school. He decided he wanted to go gamble in Vegas and he met someone there, and impulsively decided to get married. Not that I have to explain anything to you.”
It didn’t make sense at all, but your pregnancy hormones at the time made you bawl your eyes out. She shut the door right in your face, something that you didn’t understand why. She never came to the door to greet anyone, it was as if she knew you were there and chose to open the door to humiliate you.
There was a big wedding ceremony in the following months, right on Satoru’s birthday. The same day your son decided to make his big entrance, even though he wasn’t due until January. Looking back at it now, you’re so grateful your son came the day he did because otherwise you would’ve been bawling your eyes out as videos of his wedding came out, but luckily you were busy with your newborn. When he came into your life, you vowed to never go near the family again but–
Sadly, things have changed.
You sigh before you ring the doorbell, you’ll have to do it eventually and standing outside the door won’t do anything to help your case. Just as expected, within seconds, the door opens. It’s not Mrs. Gojo like that last time you were here, that woman never opens the door. A familiar face opens the door, a woman that worked alongside your mother for years, before your mother quit. The woman smiles at you before she asks,
“What are you doing here?”
“I have to talk to Mrs. Gojo. It’s urgent.” You stumble over your words, your nerves getting the best of you. All the way here you practiced what you were going to say, but you’re still not ready. You’re not even close to being ready.
“Is it about a job?” She asks and you nod in response. She ends up sighing before saying, “We’re currently not hiring.”
“I know– I just have to talk to her. It’s urgent. Please…” You respond before she can shut the door in your face. You know the woman in front of you adores you, after all, she watched you grow up. But she won’t hesitate to shut the door in your face because Mrs. Gojo doesn’t like beggars, and Mrs. Gojo somehow knows everything that goes on in the estate. “I just need a minute of her time.”
“I can’t risk it– I’m sorry–” She begins and you hear from inside her voice as she asks,
“What’s going on there? Who is it?” And you hear her heels hitting the marble floor as she walks over to the door. You both freeze as you wait for her to get there. She scrunches her nose up in disgust when she sees you. She crosses her arms and asks, “What do you need? If it’s about your mother, I’m not taking her back.”
“It’s about a job for me–” You’re about to get cut off by her slamming the door shut, the same way she did four years ago. But you stop it. You manage to stop it before the door completely closes. “It’s in your best interest if we talk.”
“I doubt it.” She responds. Before she can actually shut the door in your face, you’re forced to confess,
“I had a son almost four years ago and he’s Satoru’s son. It’s in your best interest to help me out.” You have to blurt out, and she freezes. She furrows her eyebrows and thinks about your words for what feels like forever. You reach into your back pocket to pull out your phone and look for pictures of your son.
“How would I know that you’re not lying?” She finally asks, and you show her the picture of your son, the boy who is nearly identical to Satoru. She stares at the picture, studying every feature of the young boy before ordering, “Come inside. We have to talk this over.”
You do as she says and you walk inside, following her around the house until you finally reach her office. She walks over to her chair and takes a seat, sighing heavily before she says, “We’re going to do a DNA test before anything. I don’t know who you’ve been messing around with.”
“Of course.” You answer because you don’t know what else to say.
“We’re not hiring anywhere...” She replies. However, she won’t worry too much about it until DNA results tell her that your child is her grandson– But that child is clearly Satoru’s son. As much as she’d like to deny it, that’s her grandson. At least he looks the part. “I’ll figure out a job for you if it turns out that he’s my grandson– If he’s not, I’ll make your life miserable for coming to my house and lying to my face.”
“There’s no need to worry, ma’am. It’s impossible for Ren to be someone else’s child.” You respond. She silently stares at you, trying to remember the timeline of everything.
“How old is Ren?” She asks.
“He turns four on December 7.” You answer, her eyebrows raising when she hears the same birthday as her son. She sucks her bottom lip between her teeth before she shakes her head disapprovingly.
“There’s too many similarities.”
“Well life is funny, isn’t it?” You reply which makes her roll her eyes. You awkwardly stand around the office, looking at the pictures that she has of her son– None of her late husband. That marriage was hardly real. You remember being awakened one too many times to Mr. Gojo sneaking around with servants. “I just need a job for a bit. Until I find something that pays well.”
“A personal assistant. You can be my personal assistant, I’ve been meaning to get one.” She responds, and you furrow your eyebrows in confusion. She has at least five servants that do every job that a personal assistant does. You also can’t complain about it.
“What would my job entail?” You question and she shakes her head.
“Give me your contact information and we’ll stay in touch.”
Tumblr media
Everything is sorted out within a week. To no surprise, your son is Satoru’s biological child, and with that information, Mrs. Gojo plans everything. You’ll be her personal assistant, which is pretty much like working as her maid but with a better job title, and a couple extra responsibilities. She has additional rules as well.
The first rule is to not attempt to contact her son and tell him the truth about Ren. Satoru must stay in the dark about every single detail, which isn’t too hard since he’s currently living in a different country with his wife. The second rule– The one that you were most unhappy about was the fact that she wanted you to move into the home. She wanted to be closer to her grandson, and the only apparent way was to make you move into the place with her.
Unlike other workers, you got a room in the main house and your son did as well. Still, you aren’t too comfortable with the arrangement.
The final rule is to follow the schedule she gives you. To follow her every order. You don’t know what’ll happen if you ever choose to defy her, and you choose not to find out. Knowing her, you’re surprised that she didn’t try to take your son away from you. You’re grateful that she didn’t, even when you came to her accepting that’d possibly happen. You’d be fine knowing that your son would grow up having the best opportunities.
You’re also grateful that she didn’t question your situation much. You just have to make ends meet, especially since your mother is no longer working due to health related issues.
It’s just a temporary arrangement. Even though it seems like it’ll be hard to leave, mainly because your son asks,
“Is this my room, mommy?” Ren looks around the room with big eyes. The room is the size of the apartment you were living in, and not only that but it’s decorated for a kid his age. You already know that the play room is filled with new toys for him to play with.
“It is, honey.” You respond, patting his snow-white hair. You’re smiling at him while he walks around the room. “Baby, remember, this is all thanks to your other granny. When we see her, you’ll thank her for it.”
“Okay.” He answers. He has to check out every corner of the room because otherwise he might miss a very important detail. “Who is my other granny?”
“You two haven’t met yet. You’ll meet her soon.” You reply. The young boy looks up at the wall where he sees a TV, and he gasps.
“Is that mine, mommy?” He asks excitedly, and you end up nodding.
“But we’re still going to have the same rules, Ren. You’ll have a limit.” You say, and he nods his little head in response. You doubt he’ll listen to you. Someone will be watching over him, so you’ll ensure that he has a screen time limit. “Alright, baby, when you’re done seeing your new room, we have to go see your granny. She’s in her office.”
“Ok. I’m finished.” He walks over to you and his hand grips onto your pants as you both exit the room. When you’re in the hallway, you pick him up from the floor and you walk to Mrs. Gojo’s office. You knock on the door, and you patiently wait for her to say something. When there’s no response within thirty seconds, your son gently knocks on the door again.
“Come in!” You both hear, and you can tell from her tone of voice that the woman is irritated. You’re preparing your apology in your head while you step into the office. When you enter the place, you put Ren down on the floor. Her eyes are glued on your son while he’s looking around the place.
“Ren, that’s your grandmother.” You inform him and he looks at her. He slowly blinks as he watches her. She stands up and begins to step toward him, since meeting her grandson while she’s sitting down doesn’t seem like the best way to do things.
“Hi Ren.” She tries to smile at the almost-four-year-old. He tilts his head as he looks up at her. He’s just staring at her until he remembers your words of thanking his other granny for the room. He wraps his arms around her leg before he mutters,
“Thank you for the room, grammy.”
“Oh it was no problem, Ren.” She answers, crouching down to look at him eye-to-eye. Her finger moves his hair to get it out of his face, a genuine smile coming to her face as she looks at him. He looks so much like Satoru, and her body fills up with regret for not being around Satoru as much when he was Ren’s age. “Did you already have breakfast? I’m about to go get something to eat, if you’d like to join me.”
“Can I go, mommy?” He looks at you, and you nod in response with a smile on your lips. She already gave you a list of all the things she wants done, and if you don’t start soon you won’t be able to accomplish all of them. She stands up.
“Let’s go, Ren.”
Tumblr media
You had plans of leaving the Gojo estate within three months. You thought that was all the time you needed to find a different job and be able to make ends meet– But not having to pay rent, having all food paid for, and having your boss nearly pay for everything you need really makes every job unsatisfactory. You only have to send your mother money, which is extra money that Mrs. Gojo includes in your salary. She’s understanding, even if she’s overworking you. The past six months that you’ve been working with her, you’ve only had two days off.
You’re out the door by six every morning, fulfilling every whim that your boss has. You don’t get to see your son again till the evening, occasionally when you have to stop by the house, you see him playing around, and of course someone is always following him around. Mrs. Gojo might not like you in the slightest but Ren is the apple of her eye; although she won’t show it affectionately. She won’t let him go unsupervised for even one moment, which you find strange considering she was never overprotective over Satoru.
“Mrs. Gojo, you wanted to speak with me?” You find her in the kitchen, eating a quick snack before continuing with her day, one that isn’t too busy since everyone else takes care of her duties. You’re not too worried about the fact that she suddenly called you since the woman nearly calls you a hundred times per day.
“Yes.” She clears her throat and takes a sip of water before she speaks again. “A new position opened up at the company. Our chief marketing officer’s assistant quit, and I thought about how you need a job, so I told Ms. Ieiri that I’d get someone for her.”
“Oh… That’s so nice, but I already have a job.” You tell her, a bit confused. She furrows her eyebrows and then shakes her head.
“You can juggle both jobs, can’t you? It’s not like you do much around here… But I guess if you’re struggling I can give some of your tasks to other workers.” She responds. She takes another sip of water before she casually shares, “You and Ren are moving to an apartment I have nearby for a while. Satoru is finally taking over, and he and his wife will be staying here for a couple of weeks.”
“Oh–” You freeze in your spot. A million memories flash through your head, and you can’t come up with any words. “Alright.”
“You’re still going to follow your morning routine here. I hope that you can handle seeing him without confessing our little secret.”
“Everything– Everything is going to be fine.” You have to pause for a moment then you’re stumbling over your words. You didn’t know what you were expecting. “Why wouldn’t it be?”
“Right.” She slowly nods as she stares you down. As you stand in front of her, you question why she wants to have a relationship with her grandson, but she won’t let her son have that kind of connection. “I need you to pick something else for me– Well, for Ren.”
“Of course, ma’am. You can text me the details.”
Tumblr media
You prepare yourself for the worst. To see Satoru again and pretend like everything is just fine. You’re also preparing yourself to have a second job– To become an assistant even though you’ve had no previous experience and aren’t prepared for the job. You aren’t sure what’s expected from you but you’re sure that you’ll figure it out.
Twenty minutes away from the Gojo estate is where Mrs. Gojo’s apartment is. It’s a luxurious apartment, one that you should’ve been expecting but for some dumb reason you were expecting a run down place. Just like in her home, she made sure that a room was decorated for her grandson, and she made sure he’d have all the possible toys. She isn’t too affectionate with him but she demonstrates her love through everything she buys.
“Hey, Mrs. Gojo. The nanny you sent isn’t here yet and Ren just threw up so I won’t make it there this morning– Ms. Ieiri just texted me as well. She expects me to be on time since it’s my first day.” You leave the message on her phone, hoping that the woman will be somewhat understanding of the situation. You look at the time, and you’re already way too late.
You have no option but to change Ren into some other clothes, grab a bag with some items for him, and walk out of the door with him in your arms. Luckily enough for you, you have your own car that was gifted to you by the grandmother of your son. You’re able to get to your workplace within minutes, which wouldn’t have been possible if you had taken public transportation.
You exit the car, holding your son in your arms. You’re speedwalking to the elevator of the building while Ren is trying to talk to you about dinosaurs– Or chickens, you aren’t really listening. When you’re in the elevator, you put Ren down to check your phone. You don’t find any messages or missed calls, which relieves you but stresses you out at the same time.
You keep pressing the button for the elevator to close faster, but it won’t. It feels like an eternity for the doors to close, and just as the doors are about to meet, a hand stops the doors. Your blood begins to boil, mad at the universe for making this day so terrible for you. What makes matters worse is when you hear the familiar voice.
“I told you we’d make it in time, love.” And it makes you push Ren into a corner and hide him behind you. Your hand goes behind you to go over his mouth, stopping him from making a sound.
“Are you sure your mother is going to be here, Satoru? Shouldn’t we have gone to her house?” A tall woman with long black hair enters the elevator. You don’t mean to stare at her and observe her, but it’s hard not to since you want to look at the woman that Satoru fell in love with. He enters right after her, and neither of them notice you, which you’re thankful for since you can’t tear your eyes away.
“She’s probably already working. She’s always busy.” Satoru says. They keep talking and your brain doesn’t process the conversation. You’re too busy wondering too much about many occurrences from your past. You’re also trying to make sure Ren isn’t visible or audible.
“Why is that lady staring at us?” His wife tries to whisper, but you hear it loud and clear. You try to look away before Satoru slightly turns his head to look at you, but you can’t. He sees you, and you make eye contact.
You look at each other for a moment, although time feels infinite. You both look to see how time has physically changed you, and you hate to see him the same. But when he looks at you, he can tell that you’re tired.
He opens his mouth slightly to speak, but he chooses to stay silent. You end up tearing your eyes away, while Satoru chooses to exit the elevator the moment it opens.
Luckily for you, this floor isn’t your stop.

WHATS THIS? ASHI HAS APPEARED W A NEW TWST OC? CRAZY!!!!! <3 introducing niko cimarron!!!
FEEL FREE TO COME INTO MY INBOX AND TALK ABOUT HIM BTW IT WOULD SOOO HELP ME DEVELOP HIM 🫶
Tumblr media
“What’s it now, Carrots? Got yourself in another mess?”
INFO UNDER CUT!
• HE KINDA??? IS MAGICLESS? while in NRC. THE MAGIC SCHOOL.
• 😭😭 you may be wondering how exactly. he doesn’t know either. I FEEL LIKE MIRACULOUSLY HE DID IT AS A JOKE AND SOMEHOW GOT INTO NRC????? as for the entrance ceremony IM STILL WORKING ON IT but magicless fox boy. OK
• <3 scarabia 2nd year!! he vibe checked himself and was like “yk what this one is convincing enough” and here we are
• he doesn’t necessarily LIE despite people sayin that he does all the time 🤔🤔 more so that he’s really good w his words and he just kinda dodges questions in a creative way 🫶 does this sound familiar
• rumor has it he’s made out w azul once and no one knows if it’s actually true or not </3
• everytime he sells his little “pawpsicles” outside of montro lounge (like RIGHT outside) and Azul tries to kick him out he pulls the “oh I GET IT you’re just salty I’ve moved on aren’t you” and suddenly it’s like no one believes Azul 😭😭 ITS KINDA FUNNY
• the tweels LOVE him because of how entertaining he is espec w azul!!! THEY SUPPORT NIKO WRONGS!!!!
• best friend is crowley FR I feel like azul’s TRIED to talk to him about niko but he’s just “a student trying to make a profit. much like you, ashengrotto!” so it doesn’t work. AZUL OUT HERE STRUGGLING
• as for relations w the prefect I FEEL LIKE THEYD BE A LOT LIKE NICK AND JUDY. considering the fact that’s he’s also a magicless student in a magic school I can see a small scene where it’s like “you’re not alone, all right? hey— that doesn’t mean you can run off telling everyone, carrots.” BUUUT. he kinda has issues
• trying to keep up the act of him seemingly having magic because he doesn’t want to be exposed as a phony at NRC……. he doesn’t wanna give into that fox/playboy stereotype and now he’s kinda in this big mess of a lie that he can’t get himself outta 😔 so I imagine telling the prefect is a whole big thing with vulnerability
• he doesn’t care too much about the other guys at nrc but w the prefect who’s given him a chance to be smth more than just a flirt or playboy or scammer he’s kinda scared to tell them he’s been lying to their face this whole time. YK? HES JJST A LITTLE GUY!!!! 🫶 he’s attached to the prefect whether he’d admit it or not <3
• DID I MENTION HE KINDA HAS A PLAYBOY PERSONA?
• ALSO W CALLING THE PREFECT “CARROTS” I can imagine a scene at lunch where he meets the prefect and he’s like “oh you must really like carrots, huh? there’s a bunch on your plate” and yuu gets the decision of either “no, I hate carrots” or “yes, I love carrots!” and either way he goes “huh. well, carrots is your name now~”

Two Years Later
Sebastian stood by the fountain at the north entrance of Hogwarts castle and couldn’t help but think of the last time he had been here - how it felt like he couldn’t get Y/N out of there fast enough. It was a stark parallel to the present, where he shuffled between his feet with nervous energy and willed her to move a little faster so that he could finally see her. When he approached Headmaster Black about getting married in the gardens he had half expected the man to laugh in his face and reject him. Instead, he clapped him on the shoulder and agreed without a second thought, muttering about how it would do wonders for the image of the school if the Hero of Hogwarts chose to return there for the most important day of her life. Sebastian itched to shake him off and find a different venue instead, but he knew Y/N wanted nothing more than to get married in the first place she had truly called home, and so he begrudgingly thanked his old Headmaster and informed him of their plans.
They had decided to get married in the summer, partially so they wouldn’t disturb any students, but also because it offered them the best weather for their outdoor ceremony. They would have both much preferred a winter wedding so they could see the grounds covered in snow, but decided it would be easier (and warmer) to get married earlier in the year so they didn’t have to worry about constantly casting warming charms. Sebastian had to admit, the summer flowers added a beautiful touch to the whole affair, his eyes darting over the different array of colours in the gardens around him.
“Stop moving so much,” Ominous nudged him gently. “You’re making me nervous.”
“You’re nervous?” Sebastian laughed and nudged his friend and brother back. “I’m so sorry for putting you out on my wedding day.”
“Apology accepted.” Ominis smirked at him, his head tilting to the side slightly as the guests in front of them talked amongst themselves. Sebastian began to fiddle with his cufflinks as he watched their guests arrive and take their seats, nodding in greeting to those who caught his eye. “You seem jumpier than usual, are you alright?”
“I can’t wait to see her.”
“I remember that feeling.” He smiled softly to himself as he remembered his own wedding day with Anne, how anxious he had been as he waited for her arrival. He would have much preferred to run away and elope as opposed to having all the attention on them both, but he knew she wanted a proper ceremony and he wanted to do things right by her. “We should be starting soon. Are you ready?”
“I was ready the day she said yes.”
“You’re not going to burst into song, are you?”
“Shut up, you prick.” The pair laughed as the music that was playing quietly in the background swelled and a hush fell over the guests. The officiant walked over to Sebastian and Ominis, a large smile on his face as he shook both of their hands and they waited for the bridal party.
Sebastian watched with bated breath as the doors to the castle swung open right as the enchanted instruments started to play the bridal march. The guests stood and turned to watch Anne walk out first, gently leading both of her twins down the aisle. Arabella threw flower petals at random intervals while Alexander clung to his mothers skirts, a toothy grin coming over the toddler’s face as he noticed both his father and his uncle waiting at the other end of the aisle. Sebastian couldn’t help but laugh as Alexander wrapped his arms around his knees while Arabella ran for her father, the rest of the flower petals forgotten. He scooped his nephew into a hug and pressed a kiss to his chubby cheek before passing him off to Anne who gave his arm a gentle squeeze before standing on the other end of the altar.
Poppy and Imelda came out next, both of them looking beautiful in their bridesmaid dresses, with the former giving Sebastian an encouraging smile as the latter sent him a glare and mimed that she was watching him. He chuckled and pulled both of the girls in for a hug before they joined Anne, muttering to Imelda about how he knew she was secretly pleased they had finally decided to tie the knot. She flicked his shoulder, but there was an obvious smile on her face as she stood by Anne and Poppy. The music swelled and went quiet for a few moments before picking up again softly as Y/N appeared in the doorway.
Sebastian felt all the breath leave his lungs as she came into view and he unconsciously pressed a hand to his chest as she caught his eye and gave him a heart stopping smile. He felt his eyes burn as she started to walk towards him slowly and willed the music to play faster so she could reach him quicker and he could take her in his arms. Y/N had always been the most beautiful girl he had ever seen - even back when he had first met her - but the words did not do her justice in that moment as she practically floated down the aisle towards him.
“Breathe, Sebastian.” Ominis nudged him gently and he took in a shaky breath and quickly reached up to brush away a tear before it could escape. He couldn’t look away from her even if he wanted to. He would never be able to put into words how absolutely ethereal she looked, her white dress almost glowing in the afternoon sun. Y/N (finally) neared him and took his hand and Sebastian was hit with a sudden moment of realisation at just how lucky he was. He was so much closer to spending the rest of his life with his best friend and he couldn’t wait.
“Hey, you.” Y/N smiled shyly at him as she took her place by his side, his hand clutching onto hers tightly. Her gaze softened as she noticed the tears that were threatening to spill from his eyes and reached up to brush them away gently. “Good tears, I hope?”
“Merlin, yes.” Sebastian breathed, his voice cracking slightly due to his emotions. “The best.” He resisted the urge to tug her against him and kiss her like they weren’t surrounded by their friends and family, and instead settled on standing a little closer than necessary and pressing his lips to her knuckles softly. “You are stunning.”
“Look who’s talking.” Y/N’s gaze ran over his suit appreciatively and his grip on her hand tightened fractionally as he remembered that they needed to get married first before he could whisk her away and have his way with her. He was vaguely aware of the officiant starting the ceremony, sharing anecdotes about love and friendship that he couldn’t pay attention to as he stared at the woman standing in front of him. He didn’t know what he had done in a past life to deserve her, but he would spend every day of the rest of his life - the rest of their lives - showing her just how much she meant to him.
“I love you,” he mouthed the words, his lips twitching into a smile as he watched her flush delicately.
“I love you more.”
“Impossible.” He frowned playfully and shook his head as she continued to stare at him with pure adoration on her features.
Neither of them could believe this day was finally here. If anyone had told Sebastian and Y/N when they first met all those years ago that they would be standing where it all started, surrounded by their loved ones, both of them would have blushed and stuttered in protest; but here they were, and Sebastian could think of nowhere else in the world he would rather be. He always thought his favourite version of Y/N would be her first thing in the morning, and that had been true from the very first moment he had woken with her in his arms two years ago up until that exact moment. Nothing would ever compare to how completely and utterly captivating she was, looking like his own personal divine being.
“...Sebastian?” Y/N muttered his name, a coy smile playing on her face.
“Sorry. I’m here,” he offered the officiant a sheepish smile and shrugged one of his shoulders while tilting his head in Y/N’s direction as if to say, can you blame me? “Could you repeat that, please?”
“Do you, Sebastian Sallow, take Y/N Y/L/N to be your wife? To - ”
“I do.” The minister, as well as their audience, laughed as Sebastian interrupted with a cheeky smile on his face as he glanced at Y/N. He had waited so long for this moment and now that it was here he just wanted to skip forward to the most important part. He knew he should be a little more patient and show some restraint, but had been waiting for this for longer than he would ever admit. He wanted to be able to finally call Y/N his wife.
“Very well, then.” The preacher turned to Y/N, amusement sparkling in his eyes. “And do you, Y/N Y/L/N, take Sebastian Sallow to be your husband? To live together in matrimony, to love, honour, comfort and to keep in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do.” A tear slipped down Y/N’s face as she took in the look of pure devotion on Sebastian’s face. She had never been more sure of a decision in her entire life.
“You each have a ring for the other,” the officiant looked between the pair, taking note of both of their living smiles and unshed tears. “These are placed on each other’s fingers as a visible sign of the vows which you have taken today which have bound you both together as husband and wife. I hope they always remind you of your promise and love for each other.” He looked over at Sebastian, who in turn took the ring from Ominis’ outstretched hand. He thought his hands would shake during this part, but they remained steady as he slipped the ring on Y/N’s finger, his heart thumping in his chest as he did so.
“With this hand I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.” He brushed a stray tear from Y/N’s face and gently kissed the piece of jewellery before letting her turn to Anne so she could get his ring.
“With this hand I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.” She repeated the vow back to him, her voice wavering slightly as she slid the wedding band onto his ring finger, the metal gleaming in the afternoon sun.
“I’ve been told you have both been through many adventures together, but let us begin this one with a kiss. I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Sebastian was already tugging Y/N towards him before the words were finished, both of his hands resting on her waist as he dipped down to press his lips to hers. He thought his heart was about to beat out of his chest as she wound her hands up to the back of his head and pulled him in closer, the crowd fading out of his mind as he held onto her tightly. Imelda whistled loudly as their kiss lasted long enough to be indecent and Y/N broke away to laugh, her face flushing as Sebastian tried to chase her lips and pull her back into another kiss. She grinned at him and pressed a sweet, chaste peck on his lips.
“How do you feel about being a married man, Mr Sallow?”
“You’ve made me the happiest man in the world, Mrs Sallow.”

Night Raven College: A (Loose) Year's Timeline
I got frustrated that I couldn't find a timeline of events for Disney Twisted Wonderland, to help me figure out which "yearly" events happened when and at what time of year each Story happened during.
So, like the Madwoman I am, I tried to make one of my own.
Just so you know, this is based on when they happen in a single year and not which years they happen at the school (since, despite game logic, I refuse to believe that insanity happens in a single year), as well as the rough estimate of when each overblot happened based on context clues and irl events they match and when the game holds them. (please note, this doesn’t include the Japan-exclusive events)
Since NRC is 4 year school, I would assume that some events wouldn’t be yearly or happen in the same year. This is just a general “yearly calendar” timeline. So specific one-time events aren't really included (like the Tsumtsum or the Apprentice Chef ones), nor are the ones that don't have stories. And since the school is based on the Western school year, it starts in the fall and not spring!
I hope my crazy is useful to someone!

If I've missed an event or you can think of a "normal" school event that should have been included but isn't, let me know and I'll add it to the list!
This is meant to be a loose timeline for what would be put on a calendar (or a fanfic writer would want included) so it doesn't include EVER SINGLE event that's been held.
Anyway, have fun with these folks!
3/13/24 Edit: I fixed a few things! Vil's and Idia's overblots happened in February along with Beanfest, it's a shockingly busy month apparently. If there are any other inconsistencies, please let me know so I can fix them!
(knowing how things progressed in the story, I'm starting to wonder if Malleus' Overblot was in March... God an overblot a month is insane XD )

Okay so, this idea was not 100% my idea, but I was allowed to use it, so let's go!
(I'm also using an idea from a manhwa so)
Also also, I usually do gn reader, but for the sake of hijinx, the reader is fem.
OKAY LAST THING, LILIA AND ORTHO WILL BE WRITTEN AS PLATONIC
You were a normal human on earth. Just another anime fan, you liked Twisted Wonderland, nothing out of the ordinary. That was until you died. Your life wasn't to be happy about, but you didn't think it was that bad.
You woke up. That entire dream was your past life! You woke up crying and your two older brothers came to check up on you as you slept in the same room. Your parents came to check up on you. You now know who they were. They leech family from your favorite game, but… why do you exist? You were never mentioned as a character, there was never any mention that the twins had a younger sibling, let alone a sister.
Growing up, you always questioned your existence, but you tried not to think too hard about it. Maybe it was just the celestial being's way of apologizing for your untimely death. You got to meet Azul the year you went into the equivalent of middle school. The year Jade and Floyd met Azul. You've met him before and you helped him! But after a very small handful of meetings, Jade and Floyd had purposely tried limiting your time with him. Sure he was odd as a younger version to the version you're used to seeing, but he wasn't that bad! Every Time you tried to hang out with Azul with your brothers, something always came up where you couldn't. It was strange, but you decided not to question anything. What's the point if it can ruin your happiness?
We were fine not being able to attend Night Right College, you were happy with your life! Besides you were a girl, it's impossible for yo- Your parents bribed the Headmaster to allow you to attend as a student? That's new. You never really expressed any desire to go to the school. Although Jade and Floyd do complain about not seeing you as much, must have been on their request. You didn't mind, just caught off guard. Besides! You get to see the cast! Upon realizing you needed to prepare for the story. The plot except the arrival of the protagonist was the only thing you couldn't remember. Drats, you remembered when you were younger, but now, you don't remember one bit. Guess you were going in blind.
When the time for the entrance ceremony arrived, everything went upside down. Not only was the protagonist one of the protagonists with a face, Yuuka Hirasaka, but everyone's eyes were on the both of you as the only girls on campus. You know this school is an all boys school, but did they have to make a huge deal out of it? At least the main cast didn't seem to mind too much, although Azul's eyes on Yuuka and you were unnerving. (He was looking at Yuuka too right?) You knew things were going to change the second Yuuka and grim have been deemed students and we're under your care. You may not remember the plot, but you remembered details on the main character. Like how they were not granted the position of student as soon as they arrived. Especially the fact that they were supposed to be the dorm leader of Ramshackle, not you.
When you and Yuuka left after the conundrum called the entrance ceremony, you felt like you had become prey despite being a predator. Especially with the eyes on you.
As the school year went on, you recognized that almost everyone's behavior was, even your brothers, but for different reasons. They kept driving you away from the main cast. Yuuka and Grim were the only normal ones. It wasn't until after the Heartslabyul incident that your dorm mates had revealed the reason for your brother's weird behavior and left you with more questions for the others. Apparently everyone in the main cast has been asking about you.
Was your presence in this world so impactful? No, it probably wasn't that. It was probably the difference between you and your older twin brothers. Their curiosity should calm down especially with the fact they don't even really know you.
…. Right?

the grandfather paradox
The name comes from the idea that if a person travels to a time before their grandfather had children, and kills him, it would make their own birth impossible.
➵ pairing: saiki kusuo/female! reader (ish)
➵ word count: 5.5k
➵ genre: crack rlly
➵ warnings: none
➵ summary: kaito saiki goes to sleep, only to wake up in the middle of town. on his way back home, he realises he’s managed to time travel and worst of all? stopped his parents from meeting each other like they should have.
➵ masterlist  (requests are open)
➵ previous part - brontide
I DO NOT CONSENT TO MY WORK BEING POSTED BY ANYONE ELSE ON ANY PLATFORM

before you read:
‘saiki telepathically communicating with reader.’
‘reader thinking or interacting with saiki through thoughts.’
“saiki talking without moving his mouth.”
“saiki talking using his mouth.”
notes: i realise i’ve done it again and disappeared for a while because writers block got to me. i’ve been really busy with life if i’m being honest and moving houses. i hope you guys enjoy this.
this was requested by anon, here and here.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
Saiki sat at home in front of his desk with a looming headache. When he woke up that morning, feeling like something was amiss, he had been right.
The psychic brought his gaze down from the ceiling to the pink-haired child before him. How was he supposed to react when the preschooler in front of him claimed to be Kaito Saiki, his son?
"No offence, but can you get over yourself? I need to go back to my timeline."
What a pain.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
The day started like always. Saiki woke up before his alarm and used his psychokinesis to turn it off before it rang. He took his time wearing his uniform, buttoning up his shirt and folding his tie neatly before looking in the mirror. Not too neat and not too messy, he looked ordinary.
Well, as ordinary as he could look when his control devices poked out of his hair, his green glasses stayed perched on the bridge of his nose. He quietly went downstairs to eat the breakfast Mrs Saiki had already prepared, ignoring his parents acting like long-lost lovers who couldn't keep their hands off each other.
Saiki chewed on his rice absentmindedly, thinking back to when he had first woken up. Nothing had been out of place, yet he couldn't shake the feeling that something had gone wrong. Saiki closed his eyes, placing his chopsticks down when he was finished with his food. He would worry about it later.
For now, he had to make his way to PK academy to repeat the entrance ceremony like he did every year when he had to use mind control and reset time on Earth.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
You had woken up knowing today would be different. It was your first day at PK Academy, after all! You grabbed the alarm from your bedside table, turning it off to stop the assault of the sudden loud noise on your brain. You lifted the duvet covers off you, groggily getting up to wash your face and make sure you looked presentable for your new high school.
After completing your skincare routine, you fumbled but finally finished throwing on your uniform, struggling to tie the red bow around your neck. When you finally managed to do so, you realised you were running late. "Shit!" You exclaimed, rushing down the stairs, nearly tripping but catching yourself on the railings before you went to grab your shoes.
You didn't have time to sit and eat breakfast, opting to grab a piece of toast as you let your family know you were leaving for school. You haphazardly put your shoes on, grabbing your school bag before leaving the house. Finding your way to PK Academy was pretty easy when you had an app to help you navigate.
You had pulled up google maps on your phone and entered your desired destination before making your way down the street. That's when something in the distance caught your attention. When you noticed pink hair in your peripherals, you turned to your left. Your eyes landed on a small child who was staring right back at you from across the street.
Weird-coloured hair was nothing out of the blue in this universe, something you had to accept as a child. His eye colour was the only thing normal about his appearance- and it was eerily similar to yours. It was rare to see since you never really saw the shade after the age of 4 when you started spouting neon green roots.
What perplexed you the most was trying to understand why this kid had hair clips. You would've chalked it up to his parents choosing to dress him up if it weren't for the fact that- the longer you looked, the more it looked like they weren't hairpins at all.
For one, you were sure hair pins had clips that were visible, even after they were snapped into place. And why did he look like the most unexpressive child you had ever seen? You swore kids were supposed to be carefree, always smiling- not stoic, with eyes that looked dead inside, like that one.
You were distracted when a group of girls walked passed him, and you recognised the uniform. It was the same as yours! Did that mean they went to your school too? The plan was to follow the group of girls you saw in the distance so you could be sure you were going the right way- long forgotten was the strange child you had seen earlier.
Again, that was the plan- but when did anything go your way, really? The answer was never. Before you could cross over to tail the girls, you felt nausea hit you. Your vision swam, and you realised you could barely see straight.
It was unlike anything you had ever felt. Your legs gave out from under you, and you fell to the floor, too distracted by the pain in your head to notice how your hands scraped the concrete pavement when they reached out reflexively to cushion your fall.
You failed to notice the high school boy with similar pink hair walk past you, too distracted by the sickly sweet saliva pooling in your mouth, telling you that you were about to throw up your breakfast. Saiki failed to notice you, too, unable to hear your thoughts which stopped him from acknowledging your existence.
People crowded around you, worried about your health. You couldn't answer them, too busy feeling like your head was being hit repeatedly with a hammer to pick up on what they were saying. The noise around you sounded like they were far away, and anxiety took hold of you as you realised your vision had started to spot black.
And then, as if some miracle had happened, the terrible headache plaguing you dulled, and sound returned to your ears. Your stomach no longer felt like it was doing flip-flops. That's when you noticed a small hand on your back, and when you turned, you came face to face with the pink-haired child you had seen earlier.
"Sleep, mom."
Your brain barely had the chance to question what the kid meant, your eyes closing and your body slumping as you passed out.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
Kaito Saiki, the son of Y/n L/n and Kusuo Saiki. The child of the most powerful esper to exist and the most potent nullifier.
Unlike his father, whose abilities proved to be a challenge to control, Kaito possessed the ability to nullify his own powers if he chose to. That was thanks to his mother, who could shut off her link to the supernatural if she tried hard enough.
The only issue Kaito faced was that he had no way of stopping his psychic capabilities when he wasn't conscious. Not yet, anyway. He was six, after all, and his father had cursed him with supernatural abilities, which wouldn't have been so bad if only his powers weren't 100 times stronger than Kusuo's. That meant that when Kaito was sleeping, he could blow up Japan with a single sigh.
All was well when you were around because you could stop his powers from going haywire when you were within 100 metres. The only issue was you had gone on a weekend away to visit your parents, and because Kaito couldn't miss school days, he had to wait until Tuesday for your return.
Initially, the child psychic and your husband Saiki had reassured you that all would be fine because Kaito honestly did think nothing too drastic would happen in your absence.
He had been wrong. Come the first night without you, he realised he grossly underestimated how much your presence affected his power or lack thereof.
After seeing you off at the airport on a Friday afternoon and walking hand in hand with his father home, his face more stoic than his dad's as if that were humanly possible he watched re-runs of shows he had seen you enjoy in the past. It definitely wasn't because he missed having you around.
He wasn't like his dad, Saiki, who spent the day cleaning, occasionally staring off into the distance when he found something you misplaced before putting it back where it needed to be- definitely not. His old man needed to stop overreacting; he was acting like you had left forever! You would be back in 4 days; it wasn't that big of a deal.
Kaito hadn't even realised how tired he was, dozing off on the couch in the living to the sound of automated laughing tracks wishing it was your laugh mixed with them.
When Kaito awoke, it took him a few seconds to realise he wasn't covered in a blanket. If someone paid attention, they'd see his shoulders slightly droop at discovering you weren't there to tuck him in for the next few nights. Sure, his dad would teleport him into his bed, but you would tell Saiki off for risking Kaito waking up. Then again, you weren't there to do that either.
That's when it hit the young psychic; he wasn't in bed or on the couch sinking into the pillows. No, he was in the middle of the city, and it was broad daylight. The loud thoughts of the whole town flooding into his brain was annoying. Kaito lowered the intensity of his powers so that his telepathy only reached a radius of 10 metres, grateful he was his mother's son and had inherited nullification as an ability.
With the tedious voices of a thousand others no longer invading his skull, he could finally think in peace.
People passed by Kaito, paying little attention to him. He recognised his surroundings; he was in the centre of his town. Familiar shops surrounded him, and Kaito began walking, shoving his hands into the pockets of his shorts as he navigated back. Was it just him, or did the stores around him look different? And why did the style of the clothes people wore around him look old-fashioned?
Kaito guessed he had teleported in his sleep, but he couldn't, for the life of him, wrap his head around why something felt off. He ignored the sinking feeling in his stomach. Was he ill? No, that wasn't possible. Something as ridiculous as sickness couldn't affect him. None of that mattered; for now, his only focus was walking down the familiar road that led past PK Academy to get to his house.
Letting out a sigh at how bothersome the situation was, Kaito let his feet drag him forward. When little kids around his age ran past him laughing as they played tag on their way to kindergarten, he rolled his eyes.
If he decided to smite them off this Earth, it'd be okay, right? No, he shook his head. You would definitely get angry at him if he did. And he wouldn't want you to be upset at him.
How annoying; the people around him were like rats. He didn't mind them, but they were still nuisances.
All was okay- until it wasn't. Kaito made the mistake of looking up from his shoes to the swarm of people trying to get to school early in the morning when his eyes landed on familiar hair. Squinting his eyes, his feet slowed as he tried to get a better look across the crowd, and then his gaze landed on your face. For the first time in his life, Kaito was shell-shocked.
Granted, his expression stayed the same, but he wondered if he had actually contracted some type of illness because his stomach dropped to his feet.
He didn't like the feeling, and he definitely didn't like how it got increasingly worse when you turned to look at him. If Kaito had the ability to express his emotions better, he was sure he'd be scrunching his nose. He only deadpanned at you, wanting to clench his jaw at how there was no softness behind your eyes when your gaze landed on him.
The adoration your eyes usually held was nowhere to be found; you looked at him as if he was a stranger. That's when it hit him. Kaito had managed to time travel. Your school uniform, smile lines barely visible on your face and your shortened height. All of it made sense to him.
You raised your eyebrow at Kaito before a group of girls clad in the same clothes as you seemed to catch your attention. That's when he saw it. Pink hair, same as his, topped with the exact same hair clips he wore. His father had just walked past him.
Kaito didn't catch a good look, not with Saiki's back facing him. The young psychic hadn't realised he had stopped walking until then. When he went to move forward, continuing on his journey, his new goal being to find a secluded place so he could collect his thoughts and find a way to get back to his current timeline, he stopped dead in his tracks.
Kaito had never been an expressive child, something he was sure most parents would worry about if he was anyone else's kid. He wasn't, though; he was yours, which meant no matter how stoic or ungrateful he came off, regardless of what you did for him, you always welcomed him with open arms and a smile on your face.
The child esper guessed he loved his parents, even if he didn't show it. The warm feeling he would get in his heart was evidence of that- every time he saw you and Saiki. He wasn't sure why, but he would always favour you over his father.
Maybe it was something about how understanding and patient you were with him that tugged at his heartstrings like no other.
So Kaito forgot all about precaution, and his brain blanked when he saw you collapse to the floor, falling to your knees as if you had lost all your strength. Of course, he knew why; you had told him of yours and Saiki's meeting, that his dad's powers took a toll on you the first time you were in his vicinity.
Should he get rid of his dad? Permanently? He was the cause of your pain, after all.
Kaito got rid of the intrusive thought as quickly as it had appeared; if he did kill Saiki, he'd never have been born. And that meant he'd never see you again. There were more pressing issues at hand; he was sure you were on the verge of fainting, no doubt feeling nauseous.
What else could have happened when his father walked past you that morning, not knowing of your presence or the effect he had on you as he passed you by to get to PK Academy? Of all the moments in time Kaito could have travelled to, this had to be by far the worst. Judging by how Saiki didn't spare a glance at you, he had yet to meet you.
Crowds of people swarmed you to make sure you were okay, obstructing Kaito's view of you. He wanted to blast them away with his powers; they weren't helping. Saner heads prevailed.
For the first time in his life, urgency came before all else. If anyone saw him teleport to you, he'd deal with it later; Kaito's main priority was making sure you were okay first. He appeared behind you instantly, ignoring the people around him, only focusing on you.
Kaito closed his eyes, placing the small of his hand on your back as he imagined a void around him, willing it to grow to a metre's radius, covering the two of you. He had successfully blocked out any of his dad's powers, hoping the nullification would at least relieve some of the pain you felt.
When he opened his lids, you turned to look up at him. "Sleep, mom," Was all he said to you, and he watched as you slumped back, his right arm catching you. The only reason his mind control affected you was because he was born from you. When he had grown up, he had questioned you on it before.
You had chalked it up to the fact that since he was your child, there was a bond between you that you shared, so there were no 'broken strings' between the two of you. Kaito was grateful for that fact now as he picked you up in his arms with ease.
He ignored the crowd's shock at his strength and the murmurs of the people surrounding him and you. Turning to face the tall strangers in front of him, using mind control, he willed them to forget what they had seen today before teleporting to his maternal grandparent's house, where he was sure you were still living.
He was grateful the house was empty, guessing your parents had gone off to work already. Kaito placed you on the couch silently before he left, sparing you one last glance as he did.
Good grief.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
This was catastrophic. By catching your attention earlier, Kaito was sure he had just meddled with his parent's first meeting. Had he not been there, you wouldn't have stopped for a few seconds to look at him; you would have headed to school like normal and met Saiki later on.
The whole thing was a domino effect. Kaito knew his fair share when it came to time travel and was also aware that when anyone did jump timelines, the only smart thing to do was to be an unnoticeable bystander. Don't touch anything, don't talk to anyone and try not to get seen.
Something as simple as moving a pencil from its original place to a different location could change how events play out. If Kaito had known he'd travelled to the past in his sleep, he never would have walked the streets without a care in the world.
Kaito had caused a grandfather paradox. A theory that if one travelled back in time and assassinated their grandfather before he had children, they could make their own birth impossible. Kaito had caused a paradox, alright- except it was with his dad minus the killing, too, of course.
The damage was already done, and there was no use pondering over regrets and what-ifs. At this point, Kaito would have travelled back to the future, but he had changed a major event in the timeline- and that would be his parent's love story. That meant if he went back now, there was a possibility that his parents may have never met each other; even worse, he might not exist anymore.
This was why his dad had warned him not to mess with time travel; messing with the timeline had ended in world war 3 for Saiki. Kaito originally wanted to go back a day, but factoring in how he had yet to grasp his powers properly, he might go back in time to when you and Saiki hadn't been born.
He didn't want to risk it, so he decided he would do the next best thing.- get the help of his father, who was still in high school. Saiki had better control over his psychic powers than Kaito did.
With a plan in mind, he got up from the park swing he was sitting on to teleport to his paternal grandparent's house this time. Judging by how the sun was already setting, the school day for his father should already be there.
-
Kaito sat on the bed, with Saiki perched on his desk chair in front of him.
If Kaito had the ability to laugh, he guessed he would have when he first appeared in front of his father. The older psychic had been shell-shocked, and if it weren't for the fact that Kaito knew he still had contacts in, Kaito would have theorised he had managed to petrify his dad with how he was frozen in place.
"Who the hell are you?" Kaito only raised an eyebrow at his father's colourful words. Would the correct response be to scoff in this situation? Who knew his father lacked brain cells as a teenager? "I'm your son."
Saiki deadpanned at him, his lips parted and his eyes covered by the light reflecting off of his green glasses. "What?"
Kaito sighed- why was the man in front of him so slow? "Can't you tell by reading my mind?" Kaito shot back before realising Saiki probably couldn't. Maybe he should cut the older esper some slack; having a stranger appear out of nowhere only to claim he's your son must come as a shock. "You might want to sit down; this may take a while."
"I'm already sat down."
"It was a figure of speech."
After explaining his life story to Saiki, from how he saw his mother on the street to how the original timeline was supposed to go and how Kaito had messed things up by distracting you, he snapped his eyes back to look at his dad, who looked like he had just gone through the five stages of grief in one sitting.
"I need your help; I need you to time travel back a day and take me with you so I can make sure things happen the way they should." Kaito was sure he hadn't inherited your patience, but boy, did he wish he had because Saiki was starting to annoy him with how slow he was in catching on.
"There's no way you're my son." Was he allowed to smack his dad into next week? It'd be fine since you weren't there to scold Kaito. The young psychic purged the idea from his brain, he needed his dad's help after all, and the man was no use to him if he was unconscious- or dead. "That's it. I'm going to Uncle Kusuke for help."
Kaito got up from his seat on Saiki's bed, acting as if he was ready to leave. Of course, he wouldn't go, but pretending like he would to get his way wouldn't hurt anyone, would it? If Kaito and Saiki had anything in common, it was the fact that they shared a mutual dislike for Kusuke Saiki. "Wait. I can't have my brother find out about this."
The corners of Kaito's mouth twitched ever so slightly; he had hit the nail on the coffin. Saiki had no choice but to help.
The older psychic lowered his face, switching his gaze from the ceiling back to Kaito. The child esper could tell that Saiki still doubted he was his son.
"Why can't I read your thoughts? We're both psychics aren't we?" Kaito tilted his head to the side as if the answer was obvious. "What a pain. It's because I can nullify any of your abilities, and if I turn it off, you'll learn too much about the future. That might change my current timeline; I can't risk that."
Saiki exhaled through his nose, leaning forward in his chair, "You're my son, alright- you even have the same catchphrases as me." Silence followed as the two stared each other down. Kaito refused to yield, and a slight sense of pride filled his small body when Saiki broke eye contact first by closing his eyes.
"Fine. What do you need help with?" Kaito had been triumphant. Finally, he could go back home. Was what he felt not called satisfaction? He felt like pumping his fists until he realised how silly it would be to do so. Kaito faced Saiki, opening his mouth to speak only for him to blink and deadpan.
Kaito had time jumped again. How? He had no idea. He wasn't even sleeping this time! He concluded that being so far away from his mother must be the reason why this was happening to him. How was he supposed to return to the correct timeline if his powers were going haywire?
One thing Kaito did know for sure was that he was no longer in his future dad's bedroom but rather in a field with only crops surrounding him. Letting his eyes sweep the vast green around him, he sighed yet again. There was nothing but plants for miles, as far as his eyes could see. Was this frustration he felt? He couldn't tell.
The most important thing to do was find out what time period he was in. That was what Kaito planned to do, but he didn't get a chance to follow through on it. Why? The answer was simple- bugs.
When Kaito felt something move on the skin of his calf, under his pants, all the baby hairs on his body stood up. For a split second, Kaito was sure his soul had left his body- halfway on its journey to the heavens. He was familiar with this feeling, having experienced it countless times when he found cockroaches around the house.
Kaito's body reacted before his mind did in his sheer state of panic. He kicked his leg out to get the creepy crawly off of him before teleporting far away.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
When Kaito's vision adjusted to his surroundings after he had teleported yet again, he realised he was standing between two people. A sense of dread filled the young psychic- surely the universe didn't hate him that much. He slowly gazed up and found two familiar faces staring down at him. The universe did- it hated Kaito Saiki.
Kaito's eyes blanked, devoid of light. "Eh?"
Gazing intently at him was none other than his mother and father, except they were younger. "You're seeing this too, right?" You were the first to pipe up, not breaking eye contact with Kaito as you watched him curiously. "Kusuo, you didn't tell me you had a little brothe-" Saiki cut you off before you could finish. "I don't."
Kaito had no idea how to talk to you. He gulped as you watched him curiously. He proceeded to do something he only ever did when he was extremely nervous (normally, it only happened when he was getting scolded by you. Kaito's mouth moved before his brain could catch up.
The only thing he could do was quote tik tok references you loved to say. "Baby, I'm not even here. I'm a hallucination. Move on- move on." Your jaw dropped at the boy in front of you, recognising exactly what video the small child was talking about. Your eyes lit up at him in what Kaito assumed to be utter awe. It took everything in him not to hug your leg, knowing all too well he wouldn't be met with the softness that the you from the future would provide.
Your eyes widened as if something had clicked, and realisation dawned on you. Kaito felt it too- the rush in his ears he could faintly hear every time his mother wasn't around, calmed. The weight of his powers lifted slightly, and he inhaled. "Hi." Kaito only looked to you, feeling small and unsure of himself for the first time in a long while.
"No way." You sounded breathless, for good reason. You slowly met Kusuo's gaze at the same time he did yours. Kaito looked around to observe where he was and surmised he had teleported to Saiki's room. "It can't be."
If the two of you were together, then that meant the farm Kaito came from was in a time before he had meddled with yours and Saiki's first meeting. Thank god. If there was any out there.
"What's your name, little guy?" You looked down at Kaito once again, and he craned his neck to meet your gaze. His eyes softened at the sight of you, something both you and Saiki picked up on. "It's Kaito... Saiki." Your lips parted before they stretched into a smile. Saiki's only response was to deadpan- as if his soul was moments away from leaving his body.
"I always wanted to name my kid 'Kaito'. See, told you I was right, Kusuo." You whipped your head to face Saiki, excitement bubbling up on your features. The older esper only rolled his eyes at your antics, opting to look at Kaito instead. "Why are you here?"
Kaito opened his mouth to speak, only to feel an itch in his nose. His face scrunched as he pulled his hand up reflectively, sneezing into it.
Bringing his hand down slowly, the small psychic blinked. He was smack bang in the middle of town centre yet again.
Could he have? Had Kaito actually been that lucky- as to travel back in time to before he had messed up his parent's first meeting? There was only one way to find out.
So Kaito walked passed the crowds of people, trying to keep his pace steady as he made his way towards PK Academy yet again. He stopped just before he suspected he'd see you and hid behind a wall, barely visible.
That's when Kaito spotted the version of you from high school, and he felt himself physically relax, like a burden was lifted off his shoulders. Had the situation stressed him out that much? Probably.
Kaito watched intently as you gazed up from your phone at the group of girls walking past you, clad in the same school uniform. Kaito let out a sigh of relief when you followed them like the universe had planned for you to do so. Kaito stuck around for when his father appeared, absentmindedly walking to PK Academy with a stoic expression not long after you.
Finally, everything had been set right. Now, Kaito had to find a way back to his current timeline.
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
After a few tries and focusing solely on not interacting with any human Kaito came across to stop a butterfly effect from happening, he finally made his way back home.
Kaito appeared in the living room, and before his eyes could even adjust to his surroundings, he was engulfed in a hug, "Oomph!" The second he realised it was your arms around him, he visibly relaxed. Breathing you in, he melted into the hug as he buried his nose into your shoulder. He was finally home!
"Where did you go, Kaito?!" The worry in your voice pulled on his heartstrings. He felt a hand run through his soft pink hair, and guessed that must have been his dad.
'I time travelled in my sleep.' Kaito telepathically told you and Saiki, his face still covered by your shoulder. He felt almost ashamed to admit it, as if he had done something wrong. He decided then that he needed to get his powers under control as soon as possible.
"I was worried sick- you disappeared for hours!" You let go of him in a hurry, your hands sliding down his arms as you looked him over before checking his forehead for a fever. "Are you hurt?"
Kaito only shook his head, staying quiet. It felt like his heart was going to burst open, and he had no idea what to do about it. The young esper's attention shifted when he spotted the 2 suitcases behind you. Had you... not left to go visit your parents yet? Had he travelled back to before you went to the airport?
"Don't go." That was all Kaito could say. He looked up at you in time to see your eyes soften. Despite his stoic expression and his empty eyes, you could read him like an open book. He didn't have to say much; you understood straight away. If his powers went haywire when you weren't here, there was no saying what would happen.
"Okay, I'll stay."
➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵       ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵ ➵
bonus:
After putting Kaito to bed and telling your parents about the change of plans, you walked down the stairs wordlessly. What a long day.
When Kaito didn't come down even after you called for him a few hours ago, you immediately sensed something was wrong. Leaving your suitcases in the living room near the couch, you called your husband over to help you look for him.
Half the day went by with you looking for your son, Kaito. Saiki teleported everywhere, used his telepathy, and even then- he couldn't find your child. Then, like magic, Kaito appeared in the living room. You had heard a brief version of what had happened from Kaito himself before you tucked him in.
"Stressed?" Saiki asked from the kitchen, handing you a warm mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows. You smiled at him, your heart swelling at the simple act of him making you something. "Not anymore." You smiled over the rim of the mug before taking a sip.
You watched quietly as Saiki silently did the dishes. This was it, everything you had ever wanted in life. "What would you do if you never met me?" You asked out of curiosity, the question spurred on by what Kaito had told you.
Saiki paused, placing the last dish onto the drying rack and turning the tap off before he turned to you. "I'd be single and by myself." You kept eye contact, studying your husband to your heart's content. "Until I find you." Your lips stretched into a quiet smile again as you stepped forward.
"You have no idea how happy that makes me, Kusuo." You wrapped your arms around his neck as you pulled him close. Saiki's hands found purchase on your hips. You tip-toed as you placed a kiss on his lips, your smile still present.

25 Tokyo Street Styles From Bunka Fashion College
Yesterday was the 2023 Entrance Ceremony for the most famous fashion school in Asia, Japan's Bunka Fashion College. Bunka's Entrance Ceremony is the first time the new students (often accompanied by their parents) officially arrive on campus. It's an exciting day for them and for us, as we are able to see what the next generation of Japanese fashion designers, stylists, models, and other creatives will look like. We also meet many new people at the event who are likely to become the next generation of Harajuku street style personalities. There are also Harajuku kids entering Bunka who we've known for several years as fashion-loving high school students.
This year, we saw a lot of ruffles/tulle, Mikio Sakabe/JennyFax bubble shoes, striped hairstyles, and plaid (Vivienne Westwood/HEIHEI). There were a surprising number of lolitas (or lolita-inspired fashion) this year as well.
Everyone we know in the video is tagged on Instagram.
Congratulations to all of the new Bunka Fashion College students for 2023!!

To You Who Swallowed A Star - By ARI (8.5/10)
Tumblr media
Being beautiful and special is great, but it's not enough. You need to work hard too, and establishing healthy boundaries is extra hard when you have to deal with controlling relatives. Our underdog protagonist is actually a modern princess, and the actual underdog is some random scruffy boy she takes in out of pity. It's toxic. It's wrong. The main couple only gets their happy end after alot of pain, gain and growth.
***Immediate warning here. Do not read this series if grooming is an issue for you at all. There is a five year age gap with the main couple. It is unavoidable. It is pretty bad. The older party takes responsibility, and she distances herself when she notices the relationship in question is getting toxic. "I didn’t groom him on purpose!!!!" is not an excuse in any way, and nothing remotely sensual happens in this webtoon between characters that are not legal adults.***
It begins with a messy divorce. A rich mommas boy starts to abuse his aging wife, even though there's a young daughter in the mix. The wife decides to step up and be a mom. She grows a backbone, and she leaves her sparkling mansion behind in the middle of the night with her only child. She vows to forgot all frivolity. She'll never marry again. She will support herself and her daughter will learn to do the same.
Romance and money are not to be trusted.
Jiu learns this lesson very early in life.
Tumblr media
Her mother (left) reached out to a wealthy friend after she ran from her husband. Said friend is a CEO (right), who agreed to support her downtrodden friend and her daughter until they had enough money to live. This led to a strange cohabitation situation. Two women living together with their two children, who were automatically raised like siblings.
Rin is Jiu's best and only friend, and her first crush. Frankly, she's doomed. He's handsome, nice and he cares for her.
His jealous streak is his only issue.
He steals her things when she shows interest in hobbies that aren't him. Jiu kind of becomes a doormat. Her mother is a strict force in her life. Her mother wants her to be a career woman first. Everything else is secondary. Rin is her only solace, and he really doesn't seem all that bad.
He just gets jealous sometimes.
Tumblr media
Jiu meets Hajun and Hayul after she moves out of Rin's mansion. Her mother makes her live in a tiny studio apartment, while she runs an unsuccessful restaurant business day and night. Jiu thinks it's a little unfair. Auntie and Rin are totally willing to take care of them!!!Auntie doesn't have a lot of real friends as a female CEO, and Rin misses her! He was used to seeing her every day!!! Boohoo!
Rin starts to resort to childish tactics, to force Jiu to pay attention to him. Now that he doesn't have access to her all the time he's frustrated. He does weird things to make her come when called.
Like a dog.
Jiu doesn't notice how weird Rin is.
You see, she meets two children. Yes, Hayul and Hajun are children. She is sixteen. They're not in high school. Hayul, the girl, gets extremely attached to her when she is shown a single scrap of kindness. Jiu gets suspicious and sadly she is right. The twins are both horribly neglected...and they live right near her apartment. Jiu makes rice for them, because nobody ever helped her when her father was beating her mother in that awful mansion. Hayul is 10 and Hajun is 11. It's a very tense situation. Jiu is actually injured by their abuser at one point. The grandmother in charge of caring for the twins is absent-minded, and she refuses to see that her son is a piece of trash.
Jiu....gets dragged in. It's too similar. It hurts. Her rich and powerful grandmother enabled her father. He was never punished for beating her mother, or neglecting his child.
Her.
Jiu continues to step in, until she's basically their mother at 16.
She even attends Hajun's high school entrance ceremony. She wants to give them what she didn’t have.
Tumblr media
Things seem to be going great. Bomi the bully character becomes Jiu's first real female best friend. Bomi is realistic and grounded. She thinks Jiu's kind heart comes from a dark past. It's weird to watch a teenager care for a pair of preteens (especially when they're not related). As soon as Jiu turns eighteen Bomi tries to set boundaries. She starts calling Hayul amd Hajun "the high school students". She's not trying to be cruel. She just needs Jiu to focus, because they're business partners. Jiu and Bomi both want to be fashion designers. It's a crazy competitive field and nepotism is nuts in Korea. Jiu can't baby two teenagers at the same time.
Bomi really respects her and her kindness, but then Hayul and Hajun start demanding more of her time.
Time she should be spending on her portfolio, because she needs to get into a good college.
Oh yeah Rin is in the background too plotting to make her a happy stay at home housewife.
She's in love with him.
They start dating.
Tumblr media
Bomi was a gentle warning.
Rin is a real reality check. He's not a friend. He's a boyfriend. He expects more of her time and love. He tells her to choose. The clingy twins or him? Her handsome and rich childhood crush. The choice seems so obvious.
Jiu throws herself into her "Newtube" fashion video hobby to distract herself from that hard choice.
Rin is the perfect boyfriend. He supports her career decision (as long as it ends in marriage with him). He likes her friends (as long as they're not male). He calls her beautiful and perfect and he doesn't think of her as lesser. Actually he thinks she's special. Not Like Other Girls, in fact. He treats her as such. He stops playing around with women as soon as she says yes, and he doesn’t falter.
(Would you really be comfortable dating a guy that treats women like greedy s****? Even if he treats you "differently"? It's a very hard question, and this webtoon asks it. Jiu even befriends a women who likes Rin, because she doesn't actually like Rin. Just his money. The woman warns Jiu. If she's looking for real love Rin's not the right guy, because he's just another demanding rich boy under his looks. Jiu doesn't listen.)
They stay a couple for a while, while Hajun learns what jealousy feels like.
Tumblr media
Hajun puts on some makeup, and suddenly he's got the chance to be somebody. Jiu does his makeup for her channel, and it blows up. A company emails him.
They want him to appear on a rookie idol show.
Hajun initially isn't interested. Jiu pushes him. She wants him to be more independent. He has to find a dream. He can't just eat her rice forever. She's got a boyfriend. He can't be her priority forever. Jiu even gets a part time job so she can secretly pay for his singing lessons. She lies and says the studio is doing it.
She paves the path to his success. It kinda feels like she's trying to get rid of him sometimes. She wants to fix the damage she caused by spoiling him.
Tumblr media
Hajun starts at rock bottom. He's got NO chance with his crush. First things first he's a teenager and she's in her twenties at this point.....but also....
Hajun has nothing but his pretty face.
He offers to work for Jiu's fashion company when it opens up, but that's just an excuse to cling to her, so she rejects him.
She's setting boundaries, because Bomi and her boyfriend are influencing her.
Hajun, at least, wants to become someone she is proud of. He can't sing. He can't dance, but he goes to every single lesson. He becomes a star because he never stops. He hates Rin. He hates himself for comparing himself to Rin. A rich boy with everything he wasn't born with...
He works himself to the bone, to escape from those feelings.
Tumblr media
He gets there.
He wins the rookie idol talent show. He wins a huge cash prize. He can buy an apartment for his little sister, and that's only the beginning.
The spell breaks for Jiu.
She breaks up with Rin, when a concerned friend sends her a message. You see, Fashion College is expensive. Rin's mom was going to pay for it. Rin went behind her back to convince his mom to rescind her generous offer, so Rin could easily coerce Jiu into marriage.
Jiu completely snaps, and she notices how wrong her relationship with Hayul and Hajun is too. Especially when it comes to Hajun. Hayul is just obsessed because she never had a mom. Hajun....loves her. Or he admires her to an unhealthy extent. She notices that the boy she's been coddling like a princess is actually about to become a grown man.
She crushes his heart.
She berates him.
She insults him, and she runs away.
All because she wants him to pursue his own success. That's 100000x more important than clinging to her.
She knows it's the right thing to do.
Tumblr media
The truth has so many awful layers.
Hajun ruined her relationship with Rin. He was always there. He interrupted their dates. He showed up at her house constantly during the idol show shooting. He actually got caught in a scandal, when he visited her in the middle of the night just to eat chicken. He was a negative force in her life, and she didn’t even notice because they get along so well. A good relationship can be a bad one if it ruins other parts of your life.
Hajun has been texting her daily for years. That made Rin uncomfortable, and it's partly why Rin became more demanding about marriage. He used Hajun's strange behavior to manipulate her.
It's all a mess!!!!
She decides to go to her grandmother.
Her grandmother says she can have a tuition loan, as long as she agrees to give it back. Also she must date a man the family approves of.
Jiu agrees. She was a princess all along. There's no use denying it because of the abuse she experienced. She accepts the terms to escape from both Rin and Hajun.
They both come back with a vengeance.
Tumblr media
There's a five year time skip.
Jiu successfully cut Hajun out of her life....but not Hayul. Hayul is just needy. Her feelings were never romantic, so Jiu stayed in contact with her.
That was a huge mistake.
Hayul uses Jiu's precarious financial situation against her. Yup. Hajun is a rich idol now. Hayul says they have sooooo many extra rooms. Jiu has to pay her grandmother back. Her other choice is living in a moldy slum, so she says yes.
Hajun hides his love for her, so she won't leave him again.
They start living together, like a family, again.
Rin uses his status as a Rich Boy to get on the Eligible Bachelor list Jiu's horrible grandmother is cooking up. He makes said hag believe he's already dating Jiu, and then an arc of horror begins. Jiu is just trying to open her clothing store, but everywhere she turns there is yet another toxic relationship.
Hajun becomes bearable.
Rin does not.
Remember the grooming thing?????? Yeah. That.
Rin tries to use that to force her to marry him.
Yeah.
Jiu funded the beginning of Hajun's idol career, and he even lived with her for a while. I'm not kidding Rin actually considered releasing grooming accusation articles with pictures to the press.
Jiu tells him she will never love him.
He gives up finally because Jiu doesn't care if her life is ruined. She will never trust the man who tried to tear her career away from her.
Hajun wins her heart by being reasonably nice through all the weirdness. He is jealous of other men, but he never tells Jiu to shut up and stay in the kitchen.
Hajun lightens up a little, but you never forget that he's a bit loopy. Only loving one woman is rare enough...but the woman that was also your mom and financial backer????? Yikes. I'm very glad they waited 3 more years to get married, after they became a more normal couple.

...thunder rumbling, castles crumbling; i am trying to hold on. god knows that i tried seeing the bright side; i'm not blind anymore....falling from cloud nine...
Falling in love with a crown prince had never been on your list of predictions for your school years at Night Raven College. If you were to be honest, you had been surprised that there were even other fairies attending the school. For most of your life, it had always just been you. The people came and passed you by and as the years went on; you’d gotten used to it. People came into your life and they never stayed for long. That didn’t make their bonds with you any less meaningful. In a way, they lived on through you. Through your memories and the stories you told of them to younger generations. And it always made you smile to see how people listened with awe about the ones you held dear in the past and learnt to love the same things about them as you did.
With each bond you had, you grew and learnt and as long as you did, nothing was truly ever lost. The world around you changed as you helped it grow as best as you could while you stayed roughly the same. But Malleus Draconia had changed you. When he came into your life, you knew not soon after that your world wouldn’t be the same again.
You remembered the day you had met him for the first time. Not long after the entrance ceremony, you had used the lively dinner party held to welcome the new students, to slip away and explore the area on your own; running into the dorm leader of Diasomnia in the process. You almost chuckled at the memory. You had worried about getting in trouble on your first night at Night Raven College; being caught outside past curfew by a dorm leader. But you soon came to realize that Malleus wasn’t supposed to be there either and that your new acquaintance had a habit of sneaking out without his retainers as well.
You remembered how odd Malleus had appeared to you that night. Unlike everyone else, he wasn’t wearing his ceremonial robes and he didn’t even seem to know that the ceremony was today even though he was a dorm leader. Fireflies were dancing around him and he seemed pleased that you were ready to strike up conversation with him but equally as troubled, for he feared you might not keep his late night strolls around the campus and to the village at the foot of the hill to yourself. You had chuckled.
“Alright, here’s the deal”, you smirked at him, “I’ll keep your little secret to myself…if you take me with you. Maybe you could show me around…I think that could be fun.”
He had looked shocked back then but knowing him as well as you did now, you could imagine just how bewildered he was that you had just met him and were ready to hang out with him just like that.
“Very well then”, he laughed with a cheerful expression on his face, mumbling something about how you knew no fear. You did now.
“So, is this a habit of yours too?”, he had asked, eager to get to know you.
“They haven’t built a place that can contain me yet”, you had joked, which made Malleus laugh once more. Slowly but steady you had brought fresh wind into his life. For a fae, you didn’t seem like time had left you behind. Rather than that, you were always in motion, changing and growing along with the world. In a way, that made him envy you as much as he did admire you. Through it all, watching you, Malleus felt like a mountain carved into the landscape of the world; strong and unwavering but looking down from his pedestal at the lively ways of the humans and feeling unnoticed and uninvited. Where he seemed to hardly notice the passage of time on some days and dreaded the inevitable that was waiting for him in the future, you seemed grateful for every day; finding wonder in all that was fleeting, carrying it with you as a treasure that was yours to keep even when it had long left this world.
He almost couldn’t believe his luck when you joined his club and kept inviting him to spend time with you. Malleus hardly ever declined. He grew enamored with you; accepted you into his life and always hoped that maybe you’d choose to stay. And you learnt to love him. You loved how eager he seemed to learn about anything new you could show him about the world and how surprised he looked when he was met with something unexpected. You loved his smile and you wanted to be there to share his happiest moments with him. You loved the way he pouted whenever Lilia dared to unpack the embarrassing childhood stories about him.
As time went on, it became undeniable that your bond was something special; as if fate had brought you together for each of you to have a companion at long last. Someone who would stay when all else faded. Days were just a little bit brighter with the prospect of seeing Malleus. You heard Lilia joke once about the way his eyes lit up when he saw you for the first time after a long school day, hoping you’d ask him to take a walk with you or show him a new board game or one of those movies he was so unfamiliar with. You went to festivals and cinemas; listened to each other’s favorite songs and read each other’s favorite books. Which in Malleus’ case happened to be a lullaby from Briar Valley he played for you on the violin and an antique book titled “Gargoyles and their mystical origins”.
You remembered the melancholic sound of the violin, remembered how you marveled at his mastery of the instrument. You knew now the sad songs he played were a testimony to his ever-present loneliness; to all the unchanging years inside his castle and the dreams he longed to make into a reality but never could. Even as thorns had clouded your view and the last thing you heard was the quiet humming of the man you loved but didn’t recognize…you remembered the songs he played for you once and how he had smiled when you complimented how beautiful it was and encouraged him to show you another melody from his homeland. You remembered the way he had shared his world with you in an attempt to give you something back for all the new experience you introduced him to and you wondered how things had spiraled this far out of control. Where did we go wrong?
In your eyes, Malleus Draconia became someone who wore his heart on his sleeve. You could see how he felt in the thunder outside or the snow falling to the ground; but just as well in his eyes, as much as he tried to hide it. You learnt about his passions; what he treasured in this life and the dreams he didn’t dare voice out loud. With time, they became all too familiar to you.
So it came as no surprise to step outside after the internship orientation meeting and find soft but cold snowflakes resting on your skin. You sighed as you remembered the way Lilia had announced his departure from this school to everyone and how, contrary to your expectation when you heard the news, Malleus had just as much not seen it coming as everyone else did.
He heard the soft knock on the door of his room and knew it was you. “Come in”, he called out, quieter than he usually did. You did as he told you, closing the door behind you and sitting beside him on the bed. There was an emptiness and hopelessness in his eyes that you had never seen before. He took a deep breath once in a while, as if he wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words. Like he was lost and all the years he spent alone and isolated left him unable to find his path forward. Malleus was staring at nothing in particular as the snowflakes continued to fall outside. He was caught up in his own world, and if he hadn’t called you in; you would have been unsure if he was even aware of your presence at this moment.
“So…”, you sighed and tried to find the right words but just as well being at a loss at how anything you could do or say could make him feel better right now, “you don’t seem to be doing too well…want to talk about it?” As a fae yourself, you knew the signs. An exponential loss of magic, weakening speed…Lilia’s time on this earth was nearing its end. You were sure that deep down Malleus knew too; even though you could just as well imagine he was denying it in this current moment; arguing with himself that since Lilia had said nothing specific, maybe he really just meant something else than what the prince had understood. He lifted his head slightly and his eyes met yours. In that moment he looked like a frightened child but when he spoke he retained his usual calm demeanor. “I’m just a little surprised, is all”, he sighed and attempted to smile at you, “have you picked an internship yet? During all this commotion, I almost forgot to ask you.”
You shook your head. “I have a few ideas but nothing specific yet”, you mused and leaned your back against one of the bed posts, crossing your legs as you reached for one of the pillows to make yourself more comfortable, “it’s more like I have some skills I want to work on but no specific profession I want to apply to. So I’ll carefully consider my options.” Ever since you met him, Malleus Draconia shook your world and brought it to a different path. You had gone from place to place, working different jobs and meeting all sorts of different people and you had been certain that after your time at Night Raven College was over, that was what you’d continue to do. But now? Now you weren’t so sure. A quiet voice inside you had always raised the idea that maybe you could stay with him. Leave behind the human world you’ve lived in for all your life and become acquainted with your own kind again. A part of his country. Maybe a part of his family.
You were unsure whether Malleus felt even remotely the same as you. Loving Malleus was an all or nothing affair. There was no trial period; no going on dates and being together for a while and splitting up if it didn’t work out. A lot depended on Malleus’ public appearance and to say that him getting into a relationship with anyone would be a big deal was more than an understatement. If you were ready to take a step into that direction, you had to be ready for all the strings attached to the man you loved. A legacy, a crown and a country to take care of. A responsibility to keep peace and ensure that your people could lead comfortable lives.
Confessing to Malleus would be a big step and you didn’t know if you ever would. You weren’t sure if you were adequate to rule a country; yet it wasn’t necessarily something you were opposed to.
Leadership, public relations, bureaucracy…those were what you intended to focus on. All things that were important for a ruler. So that, if after centuries of walking among the mortal folk, you decided to put all cards on the table and spend your life by Malleus’ side, you could at least be sure that you were up to the challenge. That was a precondition for you to feel confident about approaching him with your feelings. You didn’t want to risk backing out and breaking his heart. Or being rejected by his people. And even if things didn’t work out, you could still use these skills on your path forward.
The time at school you had spent with him so far seemed way too short to determine whether you wanted to spend the rest of your days with Malleus, as much as you did love him. And now the year was slowly but surely nearing its end. So you had another idea.
“Do you have anything picked out yet?”, you asked the man you loved and the one you had grown to consider your best friend. Malleus shook his head as well. “I’m not sure what I’m supposed to learn in just 3 months…even 9 seems really short to me”, he sighed and clutched the list with the possible internship locations. You pulled out the map where all of them had been marked.
“Well, given that we both don’t know yet what we want to do…why don’t we do something together?”, you suggested quietly and spread the map out on the bed, pointing at a couple of locations, “of course we don’t have to do exactly the same thing, but there’s a couple of cities here where the internship possibilities are basically just piling up…maybe we could just decide on a location and then…I don’t know…live there for a while?”
Malleus already had the surprised expression you were so used to on his face, but you continued. “We could get an apartment and explore the place together…there’s a bunch of spots on the map I haven’t been to either…and I could show you one of those human amusement parks you thought were fake when you saw a picture for the first time”, you chuckled and raised your pointer finger, “oh, I know! Or a mall! We’ll get the biggest ice cream cup they have and then regret all of our life choices. And take an escalator. You’ve never been on an escalator right-”
Your words got cut off by the surprise of Malleus’ embrace. It wasn’t the first time you two had held each other, but from the way he was clinging onto you, you could tell he was more distressed by today’s events than he let on. He let out a sigh of relief as you wrapped your arms around him gently and ran your fingers through his hair in a comforting motion. “That sounds wonderful”, he whispered and you rested your head on his shoulder as you closed your eyes and smiled.
Malleus held onto you like you were his lifeline right now. That just as he was confronted with the inevitable loss of people he held dear, you had offered to stay around a little longer and had shared your ideas with him as if they were something you had been looking forward to presenting to him for a while. A new beginning. He thought about how you’d laugh at his surprise upon discovering all these modern human things you mentioned and how you’d be there waiting for him at the end of a work day, asking him what the two of you should get for dinner. He couldn’t help but smile at the thought. He was looking forward to taking an escalator for the first time. And trying some unusual ice cream flavors with you. Or being on a train. He knew you’d find so much joy in his curiosity and surprise and Lilia would want to hear all about your mundane adventures together-
Oh…right…
Malleus’ smile faded from his face instantly when he remembered. Although hope for the future and dreams of happiness had filled his mind not a second ago, the image of bliss had now been distorted into a world without Lilia. Without him nudging the young dragon fae playfully when he announced that he was off to spend some time with you; teasing him about when he was going to confess his love to you already. Without the horrible food on the dinner table that Malleus wished wasn’t there but that simultaneously Diasomnia just wouldn’t be the same without. Without anyone to guide him when he didn’t understand something. A world where he was on his own, unsteady where you were so self-assured and down-to-earth. A world where he was expected to lead when there were days where he felt like he could hardly stand without his guardian.
Malleus was staring at the hands he had folded in his lap. “How do you do it?”, he asked, not daring to look into your eyes as he tried to keep it together. “Do what?”, you asked, noticing the shift in his mood immediately. You took his hand in yours and squeezed it gently. "Letting go…”, Malleus mumbled, “moving on after…after they’re gone.” His voice got so quiet as he spoke those words that he wondered whether you had even heard them. You hesitated for a moment, still holding his hand tightly within your own.
“It’s certainly not easy”, you sighed, “it never was and it never will be. But the pain lessens with time.” Your gaze fell to the window as you watched the stars outside; glowing and burning in the distance millions of miles away. Malleus still seemed lost in thought. You remembered the first time you had lost someone who was there for a significant portion of your life. You looked at Malleus’ hopeless expression and knew his world must be shattering into a thousand pieces right now.
“I like to think that we’re all on an endless journey”, you began again, still looking at the stars but you could see from the corner of your eyes that the fae prince lifted his head to look at you, “in the end, we’re all following a path that’s our own and meant only for us. And sometimes our paths cross with those of others. We meet them, sometimes because we chose to and other times under the most unexpected circumstances…and they walk with us for a little while. They share their journey with us; where they’ve been so far, where they’re hoping to go…”
Malleus seemed to think deeply about your words, now also gazing at the stars outside.
“We rest together, we overcome obstacles together…we love and learn because of each other”, you smiled as a shooting star crossed the night sky, “and one day our ways part. The ones we treasure move on to walk their own path once more and we watch them disappear on the horizon and they never look back. And we have to continue on our path as well. I believe it’s because there’s somewhere else we need to be and that wherever those we’ve parted from are now…they’re all cheering for us to get there. And who knows…maybe we will meet again one day.”
Malleus smiled at you from the side, admiring your outlook on this world. How you could be so full of hope even in the most dire of circumstances…even when faced with loss and death. He knew you hadn’t always been this way. That you too had faced the hardships of learning how to live with your long lifespan and carrying on relentlessly, knowing that at the end of the day you’d remain while all else faded and gave way to something new. You simply had more time to grow and adapt, despite being roughly the same age as him. “That’s a beautiful way of looking at it”, Malleus mused and his thumb brushed over your hand he held as the fearful words he didn’t dare say crossed his mind. That’s a strength I don’t think I have…
You didn’t feel too well, leaving him that night. He insisted he was going to be fine, hugged you one last time before you left his room. Maybe he needs to be alone right now, you thought, process everything that’s happened…and everything yet to come.
Maybe if you just hadn’t left him…maybe if you just tried a little harder…
No, you clenched your fist as the wind blew past your face and you gazed upon the thorn-covered island, this had nothing to do with you. This is his own fault.
That fateful day you had woken up in more ways than one. You had woken up from the sleeping curse Malleus had placed on the whole island; the blissful dream that seemed to suffocate you and shatter your heart into a million pieces. But you had also woken up from the dream you thought you were living. The love you thought you had and the happiness that once seemed all too familiar to you. Gone were the days of laughter and joy and you weren’t sure if they would ever return again for as long as Malleus was a part of your life. Maybe it was time to cut the thread spun by fate to lead you to each other.
You shook your head and tears ran down your cheek as your eyes were blinded by the sunrise. It was as if the sky was trying to comfort you, telling you not to cry as there would always be a path forward, with or without him.
Even though the dream world created by the spell was gone, two worlds were still existing within your heart. The one before; the one where you were planning to spend your future with Malleus; the way you saw him and loved every little detail….and the way you saw him now. The world where he had overblotted and attempted to decide the course of your fate with his own hand. Where he believed a false dream; an endless loop of joyful moments, could ever make you as happy as the real world had done with him by your side.
Even though the nightmare had ended, you still seemed to be living in it. You weren’t sure which one was the worse illusion, the dream he decided you and the other students should spend the next thousand years in or the one you lived in before he had disappointed you so much that all you had been able to do for the past two days was weep. The sense of betrayal you felt because of his actions was indescribable, even after all the yelling and explaining you did of your feelings you hadn’t grasped the full extent of it. How could he do this?
You knew how he had felt. You had seen his fear and his desperation; you understood how the only perspective he knew was his own and that at the time, living in a happy dream that would never end probably seemed the better option for himself as well, rather than facing the loss of Lilia, who had been there since he was born, and the knowledge that from now on, he’d only continue to lose more and more. But he dealt with it the wrong way and now he had to take responsibility for the consequences.
“Y/n, please…”, you remembered how he had knelt there in the aftermath of his destruction, gazing upon the shaking silhouettes of his classmates and the worried and confused eyes of his guards. It had started to rain and as he saw his reflection in the puddle left on the ground and looked up to meet the eyes of those who looked at him in a fear that had never been there before; the blissful dream he thought could bring him happiness had finally shattered and nothing remained but guilt. He was used to people avoiding him. To people being intimidated by him and not daring to get too close. But for the first time in his life he saw someone fear for their life around him; look at him like he was one wrong move away from ending it all. I’ve become a monster…
The rain poured down on Sage’s Isle but Malleus could hardly feel it as it hit his face and he wept. He was no stranger to crying. He vividly remembered how Lilia had told you about his many tantrums as a child with a smile on his face. But now, in the face of true despair, he wondered if there was any going forward from here on out. In a fruitless, impulsive attempt to preserve what he used to have, he had broken it so much that it seemed irreparable. He had never seen this expression on your face before. Like something inside you had broken. And never would he have wanted to be the cause of it.
Malleus, at the time, had thought his “gift” would genuinely be something to make the people he’d grown to care about happy. It was simple; an almost too simple solution to a world that seemed so complicated that it threatened to drown him if he didn’t desperately cling onto all that was familiar; despite all of his power. I should have thought this through…, he clenched his fists as heavy sobs left his lips, I should have asked them what they wanted. This isn’t what they wanted.
In the end, the way he tried to avoid losing the ones he loved had only made him more lonely. It brought nothing but suffering. He was alone; destined to die eventually with no one to stop his overblot. And his loved ones were doomed to sleep a thousand years; robbed of the opportunity to grow as the world kept changing around them. Living in an illusion that was happy but ultimately meaningless.
And now he’d lose them regardless. He broke the bonds he had and now he was left with nothing.
“Please…don’t go”, he whispered through sobs as your expression turned from one of sadness to anger.
“Do you have any idea what you’ve done, Malleus?!”, you seemed furious but tried to speak as calmly as possible right now, “you can’t keep people around by putting them into an endless stasis! You could have killed everyone here and yourself! What the fuck has gotten into you?”
Your words were the only sound except for the rain. No one else dared to utter a word.
Malleus kept his head hanging and didn’t dare to look into your eyes as he replied. “I am so sorry…”
You let out a bitter laugh. “‘I’m sorry’ doesn’t cut it Malleus”, you spat out, “you’re supposed to rule a country one day and yet you have the impulse control of a rabid squirrel. You could have compromised the safety and well-being of your entire nation with this! I understand how you felt but the only way you know how to deal with your problems is through insane magical gimmicks and making that everyone else’s problem in the process. If that curse hadn’t been lifted, those people would have slept for a thousand years and the students would have never seen their families again! The loss you tried to prevent for yourself you pushed onto others. They would have woken up in a world completely unfamiliar to them. I would have never seen you again. You didn’t ask any of us what we wanted before you threw your damn tantrum and decided for us! You don’t want people to be scared of you? Well congratulations Malleus, but you messed that one up royally.”
Malleus' sobs got even louder. “I know…what I did was stupid”, he could hardly speak through the crying, “really, really stupid. I lost control…I couldn’t think. I was too upset and I did something unforgivable…and now i lost your friendship, haven’t I?”
You had no pity left for him at that moment. “Wow, what was your first clue?”, you responded sarcastically.
Malleus looked at you with a pleading expression, basically begging you to stay at this point. “Is there anything I can do? Anything at all?”, he asked, “I want to make it up to everyone…I can’t undo my actions but I want to make it right for all the people I’ve hurt…so please…just give me a chance.” His voice cracked and you sighed.
“You can’t undo what you’ve done and you can’t just make it right or earn yourself points and hoping if you’re just kind enough to people and do enough for them, they’ll forgive you eventually”, your voice was calmer now but it didn’t soften your harsh words, “some of them never will. Maybe not even I will. What’s done is done and I swear to god, please do not throw another grand magical tantrum to try and fix it. Face the mess you’ve made like the adult you are and deal with the consequences. The only thing you can do is move forward.”
You hesitated for a moment before you spoke again.
“No matter how powerful you are, you can’t run from the rules of cause and effect. That’s just what life is like”, you crossed your arms in front of your chest, “sometimes we mess up majorly and there’s nothing we can do to fix it. It’s up to every single individual whether they forgive you or not. There’s no guaranteed way to atone. You can only be kinder to the world around you and hope it chooses to be kind to you in return.”
The two of you remained quiet for a while. Most of the students had used the opportunity to sneak away; to a place they presumed to be safe. Only Lilia, Silver and Sebek were still there. Malleus thought about your words. He knew in his heart that you were right.
As silence filled the area around you, your anger about what he had done came back. You knew you probably should have just walked away and cooled off…left him to his own devices and never looked back. But you were too angry.
“You tried to play god for us and treated us like game characters or little shrimp in a terrarium rather than people you care about who make their own choices and live their lives in ways you will sometimes disagree with”, you gestured wildly, “it felt like you didn’t even see us as autonomous people but rather toys you can play with however you please. And that’s terrifying, Malleus. That’s something that, even despite your tendency to impulsively respond with magic to upsetting situations, I would have never expected from you and it broke the most important bond I had to another person in a long time…”
Tears were streaming down your face once more as you were reminded of the loneliness both of you were all too familiar with. That despite your unwavering determination and an optimistic outlook, nothing changed about the fact that you’d always end up alone sooner or later, living longer than most people you’d meet throughout your life. That had changed with Malleus. You finally had someone who could be around for the rest of your life and it felt like you had finally arrived somewhere you belonged. Finally found someone to walk the rest of your journey with you. And now he had kicked that dream in the guts and replaced it with his own delusional idea of a happily ever after.
He had been your dream. Sharing your happiest and worst moments with him. Going through life together; staying by each other’s side for as long as you could.
“I wanted to stay. And you wouldn’t even have needed some dumb dream world for that. I’ve thought about moving to Briar Valley after graduation even though there’s no electricity and the books are 200 years old; all so I could stay with you. I would have trusted you with my life before this, Malleus”, your voice cracked, “right now I wouldn’t even trust you with an hour of my time.”
Your words stung and left him in shock. He knew you treasured him as a friend…but that you cared for him this much? He had no idea. He always thought his love for you was one-sided and now he had broken it, possibly beyond repair. He could have had someone who stayed by his side for the majority of his long life…he could have had that and he pushed you away.
“Will this ever change?”, he asked quietly as you turned around and began walking away from him.
“Goodbye, Malleus.”
Your heart had hardened over the past few days. At first you had locked yourself in your room; living off dry bread and water; unmotivated to go outside. Professor Trein had even knocked on your door a couple of times to make sure you weren’t dead. When students passed by your room, they could only hear you crying from inside.
Eventually the overwhelming sadness just died and left behind an empty void. The sun had risen and was breaking through the curtains. You could lay here for days to come and grieve the bond you seemed to have lost but nothing would stop another day. There was no point in wallowing in self-pity, you knew that. You needed to distract yourself; needed a sense of purpose.
So you went down to the village at the foot of the hill to help clean up the mess Malleus’ spell had left behind. The overwhelming amount of magic had made the technological devices on the island utterly useless and in some cases the thorns had destroyed entire houses. Fortunately no one had been seriously hurt physically but the locals were facing all sorts of problems right now. Communication with the mainland was completely shut down and people struggled to make themselves food with the shops closed up and their household appliances not working. Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy had offered to provide the people with food and shelter, if they needed it, and it almost made you smile at how they had once again managed to turn this into a competition. Some things never change, huh?
Malleus strolled aimlessly around the island, unsure what the future held in store for him. He observed the village from the distance, watching from the shadows as the market place became busy again and the students complained about having to clear it of dozens of vines. He looked at you; at the forefront of it all, putting all your effort into restoring the town to its former idyllic image. He watched you hand out soup to the elderly and help the old mayor set up a fundraiser for the restoration of what Malleus’ spell and overblot had destroyed. He heard that you had suggested to Vil and Neige to hold a benefit concert in order to raise money for the locals. Malleus noticed the smile on his face as he became witness to the kindness you gave to others, one of the many reasons he had fallen in love with you in the first place.
He remembered the words you spoke that day. “The only thing you can do is move forward.” He was proud to see you do just that and even if you may never forgive him, you had inspired him to do the same; regardless of whatever loss he may face in the future. Malleus saw how you gave a weak smile to a little girl who was crying about her favorite teddy bear that had been impaled by thorns and tried to comfort her, even if you hardly had any reason to smile yourself right now. He could tell that you were tired and still unsure, your emotions all over the place. Since when had he become so perceptive of that?
He heard you let out a genuine laugh as Professor Trein offered to fix the little girl’s teddy bear and she ran over to her parents in excitement to tell them about it. “No way, I had no idea you could sew”, Ace exclaimed with a shocked expression while looking at his teacher. Trein crossed his arms in front of his chest and sighed. “I wanted to make a scarf for my wife’s 32nd birthday years ago”, he replied awkwardly, “not my proudest work but it did make her laugh. So I kept doing it, and with time I improved.”
Once you had heard enough of Professor Trein’s stories about his wife, you moved on to another house to try and clear it of the thorns. You saw how everyone came together and supported each other, and although many Night Raven College students were definitely complaining about it, it still brought a small smile to your face. Malleus had broken your heart but there was so much out there still waiting for you even if your ways parted. So many people worth meeting and supporting with your presence, even if it may long outlast them.
From the corner of your eye you could notice a boulder being lifted next to you. There was only one person around strong enough to just do that with bare hands. You looked up to see Prince Malleus Draconia in the flesh, removing the thorns he had caused and trying to fix the house they had destroyed with his own two hands. The two of you silently worked next to each other for a while, not daring to say a word. You observed Malleus quietly, hoping he wouldn’t notice your lingering gazes on him. You didn’t know whether you should hate the fact that his presence calmed you or that his helpless attempts at trying to fix this situation without magic almost made you laugh. But you eventually decided to raise your voice.
“You’re not going to use magic to just fix the whole town in a flash?”, you asked, raising an eyebrow at Malleus who in that moment poked his hand on a thorn and watched it bleeding helplessly before you reached for the first-aid kit and handed him some bandages and a pair of gloves. “My magic is still drained”, Malleus explained, “and the blot hasn’t fully disappeared yet. It’s better if I don’t use magic for now.”
He hesitated for a moment, looking down. “Besides…”, he sighed as he put the gloves on, “I don’t…really feel like using magic right now. Not after everything that happened.” You nodded and resumed your work.
Malleus picked up another boulder and shoved it where it had fallen off the house. “You know that’s not how you build a house, right?”, you sighed and looked at him through half-lidded eyes. “Then how do I?”, he laid a finger to his chin and pondered on an alternative for a while. You pointed to the docks. “There’s a couple of construction workers over there whose job is to do exactly that. Why don’t you ask them and find out?”, you suggested and Malleus nodded.
He followed your advice and found that this was the longest conversation he ever had with someone who wasn’t a student. He learnt that one of the workers was really proud that his son had been accepted into Royal Sword Academy recently and that another one was married to a baker who made the most delicious sweets in town. Malleus mused that he’d have to check these out sometimes. All this time, these people had been living so close to his school and he had never thought about the lives they led and what things they were passionate about and what they wished for. They had been caught up in his spell and he didn’t even waste a second thought on them when he had cast it. On how much they could have lost because of it. He had cast them aside when he should have kept them safe and supported them.
Malleus looked at you and all that you had contributed to in such a short time. And then he looked at himself in shame and realized that you had been much more of a leader than he could hope to be. He had taken the opportunity to get away from the castle and explore the world outside of Briar Valley but he had always wondered what there was left for him to learn at this school. He chuckled at his past naivety. This was what Lilia had been trying to teach him all along, wasn’t it? That the world was so much bigger and more complicated than he ever would have expected and that Malleus had so, so much left to learn. He was hardly ready to be a king.
All the work had left you exhausted and you were glad once the day was over, looking over the island from a balcony at the school. The sun was setting and tinted the horizon in hues of red and orange. You leaned over the balustrade and noticed how the mess of thorns and debris was already looking a lot better than the day before.
“You sure worked a lot, didn’t you?”, you heard a familiar voice behind you, “makes me wish I would have been able to contribute.” You turned around and your gaze met Lilias. You nodded. The two of you remained silent for a while, watching the sunset as it marked the end of your time together. “When are you leaving?”, you asked, knowing Malleus’ spell had already prolonged Lilias departure. “Tomorrow morning”, the older fae replied with a peaceful smile on his face, “you should come and see me off.” “I will”, you smiled back as a gust of wind blew past your face.
You thought about the coming farewell and how Malleus would likely be there. Tomorrow would be hard for him, you knew that much…
“You love him, don’t you?”, Lilia asked as if being able to read your thoughts.
You crossed your arms, visibly flustered. “I-”, you pouted, “don’t ask me that right now.”
Lilia chuckled. “He loves you too, you know?”, he didn’t miss the surprise on your face as well as the fleeting smile he got out of you by telling you this. You sighed and raised your eyebrows at the former warrior. “You weren’t supposed to tell me this, were you?”, you knew Lilia had a habit of spilling the beans on the people he raised, even when they were very much not up for that. “Nope, khee hee”, Lilia confirmed your suspicions and you buried your head in your hands.
“I know you’re still mad”, he sighed and his gaze met yours, “but I can assure you Malleus has learnt from this. I can’t stop you from leaving if that’s what you decide to do, but I’m asking you to consider if your anger is really stronger than the bond the two of you have.”
“I don’t know”, you replied. “That’s okay. Take your time and think about it. No need to rush”, he smiled and put his hands to his hips, “so where are you headed now?”
You thought about his question for a while. You had tried to grow and learn in order to make sure you could face the trials ahead if you were to confess to Malleus. You didn’t know at the time whether his grandmother or his people would even accept you or whether Malleus felt the same for you. But in your pursuit of security and growth you had found something even more valuable: a new sense of purpose. Regardless of whether you’d end up with or without Malleus by your side, the resolve and strength you had gained through the experiences you had with him were your own and they’d remain even if you were to part ways. You didn’t need to marry a prince and rule a country to put them to good use.
You gazed once more upon the island below the castle and the thorns that had been removed from the village squares. You pulled out your phone and noticed that the fundraiser had gone way beyond its original goal thanks to a donation by the Asim family. You smiled as you looked out towards the sunset.
“I’m going to continue to support others. To improve what is around me and step up to take responsibility. Share my knowledge with others as the centuries pass by. Innovate. Hear people’s stories and follow them on their journey for a while”, you closed your eyes as a sense of determination but also a feeling of peace rushed over you.
“I know where I’m headed. Whichever path I’m on."
You looked back at Lilia who gave you an appreciative nod and a pat on the back. He smiled and seemed satisfied with your answer. “Malleus has a lot to learn from you, if you let him.” The older fae had disappeared when you looked up again.
When you entered the mirror chamber on the next day, Sebek, Silver and Malleus were already assembled there to say goodbye to Lilia. He had brought along all of his luggage and Sebek and Silver were already crying.
“Now, now, don’t get all teary-eyed about me”, Lilia said with a smile as a tear of his own ran down his cheek. He walked over to Sebek and took the first-year’s hands into his own. “Sebek”, he began, “do me a favor and don’t stay holed up in that narrow worldview you’ve grown to have. Make some friends. Let people in. There is so much more for you to see and experience. You’ve grown into a wonderful guard for Malleus but I also want you to find your own path and something you want to dedicate your time to without being focused on another person. I’m proud of how far you’ve come and I’m certain you’ll only grow more from here on out. I wish that you find patience and open your mind to the world around you. It was a pleasure to work alongside you and watch you become stronger.”
Sebek nodded and started sobbing, frantically trying to wipe his tears with the sleeve of his jacket.
“Silver”, Lilia pulled his son into his arms and held him tightly one last time, remembering how he had picked him up when he was just a baby, “you’re the best son a father could ask for. I am so proud of you and you’ve grown into a wonderful young man. I’m glad to call you my son. Don’t look back too much and continue moving forward. There is a great future ahead of you. Don’t worry about your old man too much. I’ll always be there rooting for you, even when you can’t see me. Take care, Silver.”
Lilia waited patiently until Silver was ready to let go. He held onto his father, wishing he could prolong the inevitable but knowing, after all that had happened, that it was time to let go.
And so did Malleus.
When Lilia stepped over to him, he took both of your hands into his and looked into Malleus’ eyes. “Malleus”, Lilia sighed and shook his head, “you caused me a lot of grey hairs with your actions those past few days…but I trust that you’ve learned your lesson and know what you have to do from here on out. All the advice I could give you, I think you’ve learnt the hard way with recent developments. I only hope that you find a way to live your life that makes you happy and feel content.”
Lilia hugged Malleus and chuckled. “I still remember the time you had an eggshell on your face and couldn’t dress yourself like it was yesterday.” “Do we have to bring that up again?”, Malleus pouted but his expression softened when he heard you laugh beside him. Lilia looked at you. “Y/n, I know that you’re still angry and have a lot to sort out…but do you really think this grudge is something you’re going to hold for centuries?”, Lilia asked, “both of you will be faced with loss over and over again throughout your life. But the two of you will remain alive throughout the majority of it. You have each other. Don’t throw that away. Take care of each other and help each other grow. I know you care a lot…keep an eye on Malleus for me, alright?”
Lilia chuckled as you linked your hand with Malleus’ and squeezed it gently. “He’s a handful”, you sighed and Malleus let out a laugh, pulling you into a hug with a relieved expression. “Don’t test me, Malleus Draconia”, you hissed but wrapped your arms around him as well, resting your head on his shoulder. Once you parted, Lilia smiled at Malleus. “The last few days have been…a lot”, he chuckled and Malleus sighed, “but I’m proud of you too. And I’m sure that you’ll be a great king one day. You have a long way to go, but you’ll get there. I’m certain of it.”
Tears ran down Malleus’ cheek as he bid Lilia farewell…one of the few people he had known since he was born.
As soon as Lilia had left through the dark mirror, Malleus broke down. It was raining outside again and he was sobbing along with Silver and Sebek. You had pulled him into your arms and let your embrace comfort him; your anger forgotten in light of the loss Malleus just faced and the overwhelming sadness that resulted from it.
The days that followed were quiet, as if time had stopped. Malleus had needed some time to himself to grieve and you had given him the space he needed but offered your comfort when he wanted it as well. It took a while; the sun rose and set again over the horizon as the days went on, but you eventually heard a knock at your door. “Come in”, you called out and Malleus opened the door, walking into your room and closing the door behind him. He was quiet for a while, just sitting next to you and pondering what to say next.
“Do you forgive me?”, he finally asked.
You sighed and chuckled. “I can’t just reject an old man’s dying wish now, can I?”, you shook your head and took Malleus’ hand in yours, “besides…he was right. I’m not going to hold that grudge for centuries. So I might as well let you off the hook while you’re still within reach.”
Malleus’ expression turned to one of relief and he wrapped his arms around you, holding you tightly against his chest. Against all odds; against what he felt he deserved, you had given him another chance and chosen to stay. And he would make sure to not let it go to waste. He remembered how devastated and sad you had looked after his overblot. He never wanted to make you cry again.
You looked up into his eyes. “But no more using magic on people without asking them first…or trying to solve personal problems with magic. You have to promise me that”, you told him, “you get one chance. And if you mess up, promise me you’ll let me go and move forward, okay?” Malleus nodded and he rested his head on top of yours. “I won’t disappoint you”, he promised and squeezed your hand.
As all the boys who overblotted did, Malleus had started seeing a counselor to work through what had happened as well as through the loss of Lilia. You were still more distant than you used to be but with every passing day you warmed up to Malleus again. You could laugh again and join him for his club activities. You went to his favorite cafe with him after it had reopened; sharing a big cup of ice cream before heading to the beach to watch another sunset. One of many to come.
“How have you been holding up?”, he asked you with genuine concern in his voice as he sat down beside you in the sand. “I’ll pull through”, you sighed, “but sometimes I wonder if I’m still living in a dream and I’m going to wake up to the harsh reality any moment now…”
Malleus’ heart was aching, knowing he was the cause of those feelings. He had broken your trust and it would take a long time to fully restore it but he was ready, whatever it might take. Just no magic, he had promised you that.
“There’s a legend in Briar Valley”, he said with a smile while looking out into the sunset, “of a princess who was woken up from a sleeping curse by true love’s kiss. Lilia used to tell me about it all the time when I was a child. It was my favorite bedtime story. We even hold a festival based on it every year….I was never able to go thus far…but maybe we can go there together sometime…”
“If that’s your attempt at flirting, you have terrible timing, read the room Malleus”, you shook your head but he could tell from your smile that you weren’t serious, “so…are you going to kiss me or not?” Malleus chuckled and pulled you close, his lips finally meeting yours to promise you your happily ever after…as well as that was possible in such an imperfect world. But it was real and it meant so much, regardless of the trials and tribulations along the way. He understood now why a dream would have never made you as happy as he wanted to see you. He had to work for that and he swore to put in all the effort it would take for you to put the past behind you and be certain in the future you could have with him.
You kissed him back eagerly, pouring all your love but also the exhaustion the past days had left you with into the kiss. Tears ran down your cheek and you couldn’t even tell if they were yours or his. Malleus’ lips were soft and still tasted like the strawberry ice cream he had while at the cafe. He held you gently and kissed you over and over again, relieved that you were still here with him, even through all that had happened. He loved you so much and so unconditionally that he had no idea how he hadn’t realized it sooner.
You had to push him away gently with a chuckle, as Malleus had just been leaning in for another taste of your lips and he probably would have been content just doing that for another three hours. “I still need to breathe, you know?”, you laughed and watched the waves meet the shore. Malleus leaned his head against yours and held your hand in his. The overblot and its aftermath seemed like a terrible nightmare to you now and Malleus’ kiss had woken you up to the dawn of a new day.
“I remember how you told me that those who leave us are off to another path different from our own”, he reminisced, “if that’s true, what do you think Lilia is doing right now?”
You chuckled. “Probably cooking something horrible.”
Malleus laughed through his tears but you could still see the pain that was written on his face. “I miss him”, he said quietly and let you hold him, clinging onto you for comfort. “I know”, you whispered, “I do too.” Malleus nuzzled your cheek before pressing a kiss to it. He looked into your eyes with a loving expression, grateful for every minute he could spent within your presence.
“Thank you for choosing to stay with me”, he squeezed your hand and a smile made its way to his face. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, he was looking forward to the future. “I love you”, he told you and cupped your cheek with his hand, watching you lean into his touch and softly kiss the palm of his hand.
You brushed his bangs out of his face and pressed a kiss to the markings on his forehead, noticing how the action made him visibly flustered.
“I love you too, Malleus.”

🌹- Riddle Rosehearts
a child? what is a child doing here?? he has so many questions
when he heard that crowley is gonna let you stay in NRC he’s worried
you’re a child alone with no one who can take care of you (kinda)
he noticed how shy you are when you don’t really respond to anything, you just nod at whatever he’s asking you
whenever someone is teasing you ESPECIALLY when it’s someone from his dorm it will be off with their head
after his overblot he is very scared on what you will think of him now
but you actually warmed up to him and see him as a big brother
you would always mention your hobbies with him
you mentioned that you love drawings and dolls
so he decided to give a some more dolls to play with and some paper and pens for drawing
he’s the best big brother anyone could ever ask for
🦁 - Leona Kingscholar
he saw you in person during the entrance ceremony
and he met you in the botanical garden
you were a lot shy when you first met him but you needed adult supervision so you decided to stick around him
leona dislikes children though (that’s a lie, he does care for children he just doesn’t really like them that much)
he realized how sweet you were to everyone and him
after overblot, even though he did some terrible things you were still kind to him
which surprised him
now he takes care of you and boom you have leona as a big brother now
he secretly loves it when he sees you playing with cheka
will buy you crayons and papers for you to draw with
(big brother lion we stan)
you once called him "big bro" and he was definitely trying to hide a smile
buys you dolls and drawing stuff with his money
(ruggie is fuming)
🐙 - Azul Ashengrotto
concerned that there’s child with no guardian in the school
would try to keep you away from floyd
(you actually wanna play with floyd cuz bro is great w/ kids)
makes you eat at the mostro lounge because he doesn’t like you eating cafeteria food (especially w/the long ass lines)
after his overblot he was terrified to face you because he would think that you would hate him
but ofc you don’t
you guys created a small bond and you actually got used to him
you called him cute when you saw his childhood photos
he was embarrassed
he buys you stuff that you love <3
🦦 - Kalim Al Asim
found you adorable!
he has like 30+ siblings, so he definitely loves taking care of kids
but the issue is he isn’t very good at it
jamil has to help him (like always)
anyways when you told him about your interests, he immediately buys you tons of dolls and art stuff!!
he let’s you play with his hair
wants you to meet his siblings because he found adopted a new friend sibling for them!
you also get along with jamil very well and nicely
he cooks for the both of you
after jamil’s overblot though like the others he (jamil) is scared of what you will think of him
but as expected you did not hate him which he’s very thankful for
so technically jamil is babysitting two kids
🦚 - Vil Schoenheit
why is there a child here?
concerned
surprised
shocked
anywayssysys
rook is very delighted to see a child, he found you adorable and saw you as a sister while vil, very worried for your safety as well cause a child with no guardian?? dangerous
so he decided to take you to pomefiore dorm
he loves your cute doll
and will send rook to buy you some art supplies
during the vdc he makes you watch their practices because children easily get entertained right?
ok but like imagine a scenario when you guys meet Neige and he took one glance at you and immediately calling you “cute" and "adorable" cuz you are and once Vil sees you vibing to Neige’s song, he tries not to get jealous
after his overblot though
he finally let’s you interact with Neige for a bit jist fir a little bit
he acts like father lol
spoiling you with gifts and stuff
💀 - Idia Shroud
doesn’t really mind tbh
i mean he has ortho and he’s a little robot kid
he met you in person for the time when ortho decided to let you in the ignihyde dorm
he noticed how shy you are around people and he gets it
he himself is shy too
doesn’t really say it to you but he sees you as a sibling
pre overblot btw
when he saw you with rook and epel in styx, he was shocked
also worried for your safety cuz that is not a place for children
after his overblot
he was so nervous and sweaty on what you think of him
he was scared, he thinks he was gonna lose another sibling
but to his surprise and to no one elses
you forgave him
and called him big brother
he cried
so now you, idia and ortho are technically siblings now
they adopted you and you cannot decline that
🐉 - Malleus Draconia
he wasn’t there during the entrance ceremony or whatever you call it
but lilia was and you know he has an eye on adopting lost children
surprised to see lilia with a child in his arms
but at the same not (i think)
noticed you were a lot shy around people
so he (m.d) decided to make the dorm more lively
like adding more green fireflies and (very dark) but beautiful roses
after being settled in and being comfortable
you told him about your hobbies
asked lilia to buy dolls and drawing supplies for you
ofc lilia agreed, he loves making children happy
loves to watch you draw
he sent a letter to his grandma about you
something like “i would like to introduce you to the new addition of the draconia family"
that was after you called him big brother
he was happy :) he cried happy tears
and lilia is your father and silver & croc nut are your brothers
what a happy family

For the ask game:
"You're not breathing. Breathe."
"You're not breathing, Mitsuhiko-kun. Breathe."
Mitsuhiko breathes.
"Good," Conan tells him. "Keep doing that." He rests one hand on Mitsuhiko's shoulder, a little awkwardly.
Mitsuhiko appreciates the attempt at comfort, even if he's frustrated at himself for needing it in the first place.
He's faced down kidnappers and murderers and terrorists.
He should not be this worried about public speaking.
"That's it," Conan encourages, exaggerating his own inhales so that Mitsuhiko is reminded that breathing is, in fact, necessary for his continuing consciousness.
...Maybe he can just allow himself to pass out briefly. They probably won't make him go on stage if he loses consciousness for a few minutes.
“It’s going to be fine,” Conan says confidently.
Mitsuhiko's jaw twitches. It's easy for Conan to say that. He's not the one who's about to give a speech in front of the entire high school, even though by all rights he really should be.
It's tradition for the highest scoring student to give a speech during the entrance ceremony, and although Mitsuhiko knows that he is intelligent and tests well on exams, Conan is on an entirely different level.
...This may be influencing his current state, Mitsuhiko acknowledges. He has no trouble talking to groups of twenty people or fewer, even if they're all adults and he needs to force them to take him seriously, but he only actually does that when he is confident in his own conclusions, or when Conan has explained the answer to him. In short, he can talk to groups of people when he knows and believes in what he’s saying.
Standing in front of hundreds of his peers with nothing but a single-spaced sheet of pristine paper with pithy words about doing their best together and being good representatives for the school is something entirely different.
Especially when the one standing on the stage should really be Conan.
But Conan had missed entrance exams last year, thanks to something he'd claimed was 'a really nasty cold' that had sent him to Haido Central Hospital for over a month. His illness had been so bad that Mitsuhiko hadn't even been allowed to visit him. When Conan had finally emerged, he’d looked pale, gaunt, and haunted, so Mitsuhiko hadn't pressed for further answers (even though he had really wanted to).
Conan had only been able to take the entrance exams later because his mysteriously absent but wealthy parents had purportedly pulled some strings, but it had apparently been too late to put him into the class rankings.
That's the only reason that Mitsuhiko is here, five steps from the stage and holding himself very, very still so that he doesn't accidentally crinkle his speech. His legs feel weak, like he'll collapse if he takes even a single step further. The stage is big and bright and incredibly intimidating, and he does not want to go out there.
"Mitsuhiko-kun, look at me."
Mitsuhiko's gaze snaps to Conan involuntarily. Conan's using the tone he uses when he needs to get adults to listen to him, the one that's firm and urgent but level. Looking at him when he sounds like that is second nature to Mitsuhiko.
Conan's eyes bore into him, like he can see every single miniscule insecurity that Mitsuhiko has ever had even as he disregards them as unfounded.
"You can do this," Conan tells him, like he really believes it.
Well.
If Conan believes he can do it...
Mitsuhiko takes a deep breath and steps out onto the stage.

If you're still doing requests can you do a Fnaf Sun & Moon animatronic yuu please?
I'm just here to mix-and-match different kinds of Yuus with different kinds of personalities to see what monstrosity I can make. That being said,,, Sun/Moon!Yuu brainrot!
So Sun and Moon from FNAF, aye?
Yuu would most likely be a humanoid animatronic rather than a regular human. They’d also probably have this jester/clown aesthetic going on.
Maybe they came from a high sci-fi world where sentient artificial intelligence and robots are common because why not.
Yuu is a semi-sentient animatronic but either they're just built different or they have a virus that makes them become whatever they are whenever they go Moon mode.
They're also probably a caretaker/babysitter model which is fair since NRC is gonna need all the help it can get so it doesn't burn down in flames and Yuu's the perfect candidate for that!
That is, had they not been recalled and was about to be taken apart to be recycled after they miraculously survived a pretty bad fire in the establishment they previously worked in back in their own world.
Anyway, the moment Grim opens the coffin up, Sun!Yuu hops out of it like they hadn't been trapped there for who knows how long, swaying from side to side like they're doing this little rhythmic dance as their eyes land on Grim.
Yuu's system immediately equates Grim to a child so as a caretaker animatronic, they're very indulgent with him.
"A new f-fr-fr-friend!" Sun!Yuu glitches out momentarily as they exclaim out  in pure delight. "Where's yo-your guardian? Your friends? Why are you st-s-staying up late? Are we ha-h-ha-ving sleepover? Oh, we're going to have so much f-f-f-fun! We can fingerprint, tell stories, and stay up all n-n-ni-ni-ght!"
Crowley arrives in the coffin room and sees Grim trying to escape from Sun!Yuu's grasp because they insist on keeping Grim there.
Of course now that they had adult supervision, Sun!Yuu followed after Crowley to the Mirror Chambers, skipping all the way with Grim trapped in their arms who temporarily stopped trying to get away because he got tired.
Of course, seeing all the students gathered in one place, Sun!Yuu thought that management had assigned them to a school, completely oblivious that they had been shut down because they were going to be taken apart rather than reassigned to another location like the higher ups in their company had told them.
The company thought that it was more efficient and less expensive to build a brand new caretaker animatronic using their parts rather than finding out what was wrong with their code and fixing it, as well repairing whatever damage they sustained in the fire at the same time.
It was also to change image because the company seems to like doing that and because the big fire that happened inside the establishment they worked at was a blow to the company’s reputation so they thought it was better to replace any animatronic that somehow survived the wreckage and recycle their parts to create new animatronics.
As a caretaker animatronic, most of the students were still under their care since they fit the requirement of ‘being a child’ since they’re minors (considering that the first years are around the age range of 16 and the second years around 17) but Yuu has no complaints.
Although it’s night time when the entrance ceremony happened, since the Mirror Chamber is surprisingly well-lit, there’s no danger of Moon!Yuu running loose.
Anyway, Grim surprisingly somehow manages to escape from Sun!Yuu’s hold because cats are liquid and tries to show his magic and now everything’s on fire.
Yuu gets war flashbacks and practically blue screens so they’re of no help while the others try to make Grim stop.
After the crisis was abated, Crowley scolds Yuu for letting their ‘familiar’ loose which Sun!Yuu translates as ‘letting the kid that was assigned to them be left unsupervised’ which makes them worried and panic since that went against their program and that they’ll see to it with the maintenance when they have the chance, which then makes Crowley think that Yuu was sick so that’s why they couldn’t discipline Grim which is fair but tells them to keep a closer eye on Grim.
Anyway, since Sun!Yuu and Grim have nowhere to go and the mirror literally said that Yuu was soulless and was homeless, they get sent to Ramshackle as always.
Seeing the state of the building, Sun!Yuu keeps on a positive and optimistic attitude and is already planning on making it the comfiest and prettiest daycare ever!
Crowley was lucky Ramshackle miraculously had electricity and the lights still worked despite all these years because if it didn’t, he’d have met with a very ire and hostile Moon!Yuu.
Ramshackle is basically Yuu's new ‘daycare’ and if the ‘daycare’ they were assigned at looked like it came from a horror movie rather than a proper facility, how would that be good for Grim’s (aka the ‘child’ they were tasked to look after) growth?
Sun!Yuu might be friendly but Moon!Yuu was not.
Speaking of Ramshackle, Yuu absolutely does not turn off the lights in the dorm, at all.
In fact, Yuu even goes so far as to keep the lights on every time night comes as early as 5 pm and panics every time they see an unlit room because they don’t want to go in the room just to turn on the lights.
It’s not like they’re saying that they can’t but that it would be better if they didn’t.
Grim didn’t understand why Yuu insisted on turning all the lights every time until he had experienced meeting Moon!Yuu for himself.
There had been a sudden blackout one time and he woke up in the middle of the night to see Yuu staring down at him with a weird smile on their face while somehow balancing and crouching at the same time on the headboard of the bed.
Yuu tilted their head slowly, looking completely robotic as they did so, face frozen in an eerie smiling expression that never fluctuated, “S-S-Sle-Sleep.”
Grim immediately closed his eyes and pretended he was asleep. He wasn’t going to deal with whatever was happening with Yuu right now.
Suffice to say, Moon!Yuu roamed the campus the whole night but on the bright side, they did catch a few troublemakers up and about and dragged them to Ramshackle kicking and screaming.
When he found out about this, Crowley seriously contemplated on letting Moon!Yuu out every night because then he wouldn’t need to hire a security guard for the campus and he’d have a security guard for free!
Sun!Yuu was not happy when he suggested this to them.
Firstly, because they weren't a security animatronic, they were a caretaker animatronic meant to take care of children.
Although Moon!Yuu did technically have security features, that was just exclusively to guard and protect children so leaving their wards alone to patrol the whole entire campus defeats that purpose.
Secondly, because they were scared of what Moon!Yuu was going to do if they do take control.
Although Sun!Yuu didn’t show it, they’ve heard of complaints and concerns being sent to their company about Moon!Yuu scaring children and forcing them to sleep instead of helping the children sleep, as was their job.
Sun!Yuu speculated that someone might have tampered with and corrupted their program, with Moon!Yuu taking the brunt of it.
Still, this won’t be a problem for long with Yuu once they pass Chapter 6, thanks to Idia and Ortho.
Maybe even getting their damaged to get fixed.
But before that, Moon!Yuu is completely unstable and is definitely a big issue so Sun!Yuu is perfectly justified when they say they're scared.
Thankfully, Crowley allowed Yuu to have one room only to keep the lights open the whole night.
Probably the lounge since Sun!Yuu doesn't want to keep Grim up by having the lights on in the bedroom.
Since Yuu didn’t really need to sleep, they just clean up and fix whatever they can in Ramshackle.
Anyway, Yuu and Grim probably still get to be students in NRC because Crowley still wants a therapist and babysitter all-in-one for free.
Mostly because Sun!Yuu made a very appealing point about children needing education and guidance to Crowley and Grim was technically a child.
Sun!Yuu and Riddle probably didn't match well with each other at first, mostly because of Riddle's overwhelming rules.
Sun!Yuu can clearly see that Riddle's rules were suffocating and making the students unhappy.
Sun!Yuu helps nurture children and plays with them so they're having fun while also learning but the way Riddle directly opposes their programming.
Leona probably wouldn’t be keen on Sun!Yuu that much since they’re just so positively cheerful and always tries to keep him awake.
He’d probably like Moon!Yuu more once they’re not corrupted with the virus because Moon!Yuu actually helps him go to sleep and sings him lullabies.
But he also likes Sun!Yuu mostly for the fact that he can just throw Cheka at them and Sun!Yuu would immediately take care of him which makes it easier for him to go back to sleep. It’s a win-win for him.
As for overblots, Yuu’s very flexible, strong, and mobile so there’s no problem dealing with it.
Oooo, now that I think about it, what if Yuu had this string/rope things that they use to tie up intruders/children out of curfew?
Usually Moon!Yuu’s the one who uses this function to do acrobatics and tying up troublemakers but Sun!Yuu can use it too.
Now that I think about it, how would the meeting with Malleus go?
Maybe the only reason Sun!Yuu didn’t turn to Moon!Yuu was because the outside was brightly lit with all the lanterns and lamps and all.
Maybe Crowley specifically made the outside surrounding Ramshackle bright enough that if even if Yuu transformed into Moon!Yuu they still wouldn’t be able to escape Ramshackle’s premises.
Anyway, everyone definitely had met the corrupted Moon!Yuu at one point.
Ace met them much earlier, probably after he ate Riddle’s tart and the whole collaring affair happened.
Sun!Yuu kept repeating not to turn off the lights and Grim telling them that Yuu’s scary without the lights on so out of curiosity, he turned the lights off with Yuu in the same room as him.
He did not expect Yuu to start panicking and become hysterical.
He also didn’t expect Yuu to do this creepy contortionist thing like they came from an exorcist movie while saying in a super glitchy and scratchy voice:
“I-I-It’s past your b-be-bed-time. B-B-Ba-d children must be p-pun-ished.”
Ace immediately flipped the light switch back on and stared at Sun!Yuu who stared back at him.
“Please do-don’t do t-t-th-at!” “Yeah, sorry. Now I know what Grim was talking about.”
Ace totally flips the light switch off the first time Deuce stays the night in Ramshackle just for the hell of it.
Suffice to say, Deuce was ready to fistfight Moon!Yuu at that very moment had Ace not turn the lights back on.
He still got punched on the shoulder, though.
Also, Yuu put him in the time-out corner they made in Ramshackle which is just unused chairs and stuff piled together to form a barrier because they can’t afford a baby barrier.
