Wow, the beginning of summer and I have a cold.... of course....

Well, how about another name analysis?! Because.... Because I can.

Scarabia

Kalim Al-Asim

A quick Google search will tell you that the name Kalim means Speaker or interlocutor. Interlocutor meaning someone who takes part in conversations, dialogue with people.

Well yeah, okay I can see that... he definitely likes to talk alot... Also, this definition of the name is Arabic in origin.

His last name, Al-Asim means Son of the House of Asim, as Kalim reveals to us during the Schemer of the Scalding Sands book. I wonder if the name Asim means anything in particular. Yeah he's of the house of Asim, but I wonder if that name relates to any of the Aladdin movies or the show.... I've never seen all of the episodes of the show, and it's not on Disney plus, so I wouldn't really be able to investigate this anytime soon. But for the record, if you look up what the name Asim means, you'll find that it means savior or protector. And is Arabic in origin.

Jamil Viper

The name Jamil means beautiful and is of arbic origin. The last name Viper... c'mon do I have to explain that one? Seeing as he is based off of Jafar, the last name fits.

Scarabia random headcanons: parties!

Because Scarabia is based off of Aladdin and the original source material is connected to the Middle East, I’m going to go off with the headcanon that a lot things are similar in Scalding Sands and Scarabia

If you have ever been to an Arabic party, you know how good those parties can be

Imagine the music, the food, just the VIBES

I feel like a lot of the songs that Scarabia chooses to play during parties would be leaning more to the Arabic side, but honestly anything the students want is played (be it random meme sounds to classical music)

Kalim will likely be the one to schedule the parties for large gathering events. He will host one during the first night after the sorting ceremony to welcome the new Scarabia students, then one in the middle of the year as a mood booster, and then one at the final day of the year. He might make some sporadically too if he thinks the dorm needs it.

He might personally find ways to fund the parties too, though Jamil might warn against it. But who can stop Kalim from trying to cheer up his dorm mates?

More than just things like shawarma and hummus, I’m sure dolma, tabbouleh, all kinds of fatayer would be there too. Don’t get me started on the kinds of sweets there would be too! The knafeh, tulumba, and the usual baklavas might be there too. I’m sure the entire dorm helps out with the party prep, it’s honestly super fun!

Jamil’s already known to be good at dancing, and I’m sure Kalim knows how to dance pretty well too. They probably help hype the place up a lot, especially Kalim. Jamil might be awkward with the idea of being in the center of the spotlight, but once he gets in the vibes he is absolutely stunning!

The parties go on throughout the night, and by the next day everyone’s basically wiped out.

Oh yeah, people can invite people from other dorms if they want to! The more the merrier!

Scarabia is honestly the best house to make friends and just have a good time

Sia- Chandelier Cover by Alexander Stewart Kalim likes listening to female artists, drinking his respect women juice box all the while. I think he loves Sia's vocals in Chandelier and made it a point to do this as his song, even though Jamil was like "please don't, what if you miss a note". Kalim doesn't care, he is here for a good time and to make people smile.

Frank Ocean- Pink + White I think Jamil would be super into laid back vibes; he is always in dad mode with Kalim so he probably listens to Frank Ocean to decompress after a long day. I think he would probably perform this on an instrument of some type while singing, really showing off his stage presence after Kalim's song.
