Drakken grumbled under his breath as he, yet again, stumbled over something in the underbrush of the forest. It had been happening more and more frequently now that he and Sarina had ventured off the hiking trails. He knew it wasn’t his fault since the terrain was tricky, but it still grated on his nerves since all he was doing was walking.
He glanced sideways at Sarina, wondering when she was going to ask why they were here, what they were doing, and any other reasonable question. Drakken usually looked forward to the big evil rant about his plans, they were one of the best parts of the job.
But he hadn’t done that this time, had just asked her when she would be available to take a trip into the forest to go get something. This was mostly because he didn’t want to have to admit that they were working for someone else and that, in the grand scheme of things, all of this was just to ensure he didn’t get killed off. Which was, in retrospect, important to the plan of wanting to take over the world since he couldn’t do that if he was dead, but he was supposed to be someone to fear! Not someone who feared others!
Drakken cleared his throat, eyes darting back in front of him, “Shouldn’t be too far now. Do you need any water? Uhh, oh, I brought trail mix!”
Honestly, waking up from the latest of one of those...weird...dream...thingies...had been a lot sadder than the first one had been. In the first he had been a servant. In this one he had been a successful business man. It had been a bit gut wrenching to realize, mid-dream, that all of it was a lie and that it was only a matter of time before it was all gone. It had definitely been one of those morning where he had tried to keep his eyes shut and hang on just a little bit longer.
While he would mourn that life, minus the part about being in West Texas of all places, Drakken wasn’t the kind of person who let a loss stop him.
He had been standing in front of the refrigerator in his apartment when someone knocked on the door. Usually he would ignore it or let his roommate get it but since he was right there he figured he’d at least see who it was.
“Sarina?” he asked after he had pulled the door open. “What’re you doing here? We didn’t have anything scheduled, did we?”
Rita had known that Sarina was coming back to town. Roscoe had told her the night he’d gotten the text from her. Granted, Rita had actually had to pry it out of him because he knew how she felt about the woman. But still, she’d known she was coming back and that it made Roscoe happy because it gave him one more person he had been close to.
Even if she had no idea why he thought the woman was an important fixture in his life.
He’d told her two weeks which gave her plenty of time to get accustomed to the idea that the other woman would be back in town. Albeit, maybe not working at the Court. A thought that gave her some form of solace because she wouldn’t have to watch her blatantly flirt with her husband.
Yes, two weeks was perfect.
Which was why when she saw the familiar figure in the grocery store only a few days later after receiving the news she was confused. Fussing with Mason, who was not enjoying standing still or the fact that Rita wouldn’t give in to his demands for more sugary treats, she couldn’t help herself as she approached her.
“Sarina? I thought you weren’t coming back for a few weeks.”
What’s the deal between Sarina and Drakken? Seemed like they were doing a loooot of chatting at speed dating
you are RIGHT! There was definitely something mysterious...not the sign of two people meeting for the first time but maybe...
Does Drakken owe Sarina money?
Because I really doubt Sarina would give a man like Drakken (maybe 2 percent offense) the time of day, I think it’s probably bound to be the last one. Maybe they’re cousins or something and family drama has come to town! Would LOVE that, I think we need absolutely as many dysfunctional families in Swynlake as possible.
But what does everyone else think? Was that sexual tension or something more complicated...?
Drakken had to admit that. while their reunion had been embarrassing for him, he was beyond pleased that she had decided to come back. She had been the first person he thought to call under any given circumstance. When he had decided to move to Swynlake, after his first day at school, when he had woken up from dying... Maybe she had a point about him leaving too many voicemails, but how was he supposed to know she had actually been listening to them? Or that she’d even kept the last number she had left with him before she headed off to who knew where?
It wasn’t that he had missed her! Because he had been carrying on fine enough with out her. She was just...useful. Her magic was terrifying, her fortunate genes had people falling at her feet, and she was a talented thief.
For now he could not pay her the sum he once had, so in the mean time he figured he could do favors in return the same.
He would greatly regret this when her first ask was for him to help her move in to her new apartment. Only three boxes in and his whole body was already killing him. Drakken heaved the box he was carrying on top of the other two he had brought up and remained leaning against them, panting.
“What..do you...have..in these?” he asked between breaths. “Rocks?”
The more Aquata thought about the petition, the more she realized that she needed to do more than just put together some legal language. She needed to get people excited on an emotional level. Show people that this was more than just bureaucratic bullshit. That this mattered. And a protest seemed like the perfect way to do that.
She didn’t want to be too public about it until she could get some support, so Aquata decided to start off by hanging up some flyers for “Opportunity for Magick-Mundus Solidarity” with an email address to contact. And when she saw someone passing by, actually giving the flyer a second glance, Aquata figured this could be on opportunity.
“Hey! Did you want one?” Aquata said, offering a flyer. “I’m organizing a demonstration. Against Magick exploitation. I’m happy to tell you more if you’d be interested.”

if sarina really goes to england im going to lose my shit. i know sarina's gotten shit for some of her decisions in games but i cant see her leaving the dutch team just to swap kits instead of bowing out after an era. i dont think her work with the dutchies is over yet. as much as i think ellis can be a clown, i really think england can really benefit with her, especially since dawn scott is already there.
This is partly what took me so by surprise, but if she's in the top two left then this means that she's after the job and is all in unless she gets cold feet right at the last second. I know from a Dutch perspective her move would be horrible, she gets a lot of stick for her apparent inability to change game plans but honestly what manager doesnt get some stick? She's brought out a lot in the Dutch players and would be 100 steps up from Neville if she came to england. As for ellis, you have to rate her and the amount of success she's had is unmatched. But, and this is a very big but, for (ex-)uswnt players to actually say that they've won all these years despite her tells you a lot of what you need to know. She's had an almost endless pool of world class players already set with a winning mentality and so throw her into the considerable mess that is the lionesses and I can see her suffering a lot more with emulating at least part of the uswnt's success. Which, let's face it, would be everyone's expectations of her.
I think we've managed to snatch the better side of the uswnt coaching team with Dawn Scott, I'd definitely take Sarina out of these two.
