Reading Updates!
TITLE: FLY WITH THE ARROW SERIES:(BLUEBEARD'S SECRET #1) AUTHOR: SARAH K.L. WILSON
Tumblr media
Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT!
Review: I wasn't very familiar with the original Bluebeard tale so I had to look it up before I started reading. After reading the original tale I was curious to see how this one would go and I'm happy to say I enjoyed it a lot. My favorite part is definitely the relationship between Izolde and Arrow. I was definitely intrigued with how they would be communicating given the circumstances but I just loved their interactions with each other. Bluebeard has so many nicknames for his wife and I am weak for that. I love them, I just love them.
But of course we end on a cliff hanger and you can bet that I'll be reading the next book.

Some books know I want to read this year:
Operation Grendel by Daniel Schwabauer (finish)
The Unanswered Questions by Lauren D. Fulter (reread but also it would be the new illustrated edition)
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis
Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
The Agaped Bearer by Hannah Lindsey
Riddle of Hearts by Rosie Grymm
Wizards of the Apoclaypse: The Forgotten Prophesy by X Zombie
Dragon School: First Flight by Sarah K.L. Wilson
North! Or Be Eaten by Andrew Peterson
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
Books I am eyeing but undecided:
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Earth-treader by Alissa Zavalianos
Reckless by Cornelia Funke
Dune by Frank Herbert
Yesterday or Long Ago by Jenni Sauer
This list may change. These are just my thoughts as of 1/1/2024. And I plan to read more books than these, but I don't plan what I'm going to read. I just have an idea of some of what I currently want to read.

I'm Back! With a new release from Sarah K.L. Wilson to Share
Here on the first of June, I’ve decided to start making regular posts on this blog again. Starting with a book from a favorite author that releases today! Although I was selected for the street team for this title and was supposed to have read the full book in order to share my review, I must admit that I have not accomplished that goal. This is a beefy book since it is the author’s first…

For the book asks: 12, 17, 20 😁
Ok, this weekend was madness, but I'm hyped to talk about books again now.
12. Any books that disappointed you?
I read The Last Unicorn this year, and . . . look, this is going to be a controversial opinion, but I was not impressed. It's kinda like . . . I can see why this is a classic, but also, why?
On a less controversial note, The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu could've been so great and instead it was just a bit meh.
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
I answered this one already! And the answer is yes, and also, you should read Lady of Dreams (W.R. Gingell) and Heart of Shadow (Sarah K.L. Wilson) immediately.
20. What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?
Return of the Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, and storms yes. It was absolutely amazing.
Full list of questions here! I'm still answering these, if anyone cares to let me ramble about books.

2, 4, 17! End of the year book asks!
2. Did you reread anything?
Several actually! I think I reread ACHTR and AQCTP three times. 😅 Caraval is another book that I love going back to. I love carnival themes, and as much as I love my main OTP of that trilogy I adore Julian and Scarlett. I think I reread Dream by Natalia Jaster a couple times. Riptide by Aleera Anaya Ceres is another one.
Umm…I know there’s a lot more. 🤔 Mainly to refresh my memory before the sequels came out.
4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?
Beck Michaels, Chloe Penaranda, Katie Feavel, Laura Thalassa, Raven Kennedy (can you tell they’re all indies? 👌)
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
Heart of Shadow by Sarah K.L. Wilson took me by surprise! I had zero expectations going in, absolutely amazing.

Fae Hunter  (Tangled Fae #1)  by Sarah K.L. Wilson
Publication date: December 11th 2019 Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Think you know fae? Think again.
Our lives are nursery rhymes and faerie stories now, Allie.
When Allie Hunter’s twin sister steps through a magic circle into the Faerie realm, she opens the door to deadly fae, bent on causing havoc and harm to Allie’s village.
Rendered blind to all but the spirit world, Allie is frustrated and angry but determined to bring the fae down. No matter what that might cost her.
But in a world where lies are truth, power is sustenance, and every action ripples into violence, how can one mortal stop all of Faerieland?
Goodreads / Amazon
EXCERPT:
I opened the door of the cottage, frustrated to find the fire down to nothing but embers and not a single candle lit. I’d finished my work in town, returned the goats to their pens, and I was head-to-toe in mud and soaked to the skin – not to mention that my arms hurt like anything and my fever was getting worse.
I built up the fire, lit a candle, and set to stripping off my wet clothing. It wasn’t easy to do with my broken arm splinted and bandaged. It couldn’t bend, and the fingers on that hand were swollen and thick. It needed rest, but I didn’t have time to rest it.
I was down to my underthings when my blindfold slipped off as I was tugging my shirt over my head. I bent to recover it and then gasped.
The cage I’d set beside the sewing kit was the only thing I could really see without the blindfold. It still glowed a bright but eerie greenish-blue.
Dripping from the cage out onto the worn wooden floor of our cottage was black tar-like blood. And in the center of the cage, the Fae leader stood with black blood smeared across his clothing, a sewing needle streaked in black in one hand and a growl bubbling up from his throat. Under his feet, lay his fallen comrades, pins and needles scattered in their blood and sticking up from their backs.
“I see I have a pair of new pincushions. What have you been doing while I was gone?” I asked, aghast.
“Slaying my enemies,” he said with a fearsome curl to his lip. “What did you expect?”
I leaned down so my face was level with the cage, and I could feel my eyes widening as his glamour showed the full effect of perfect immortal features as he sneered at me.
“Not this,” I said, swallowing. My heart was sinking. I’d counted on having three of them. Three Fae to put back into the Star Stone circle. One to bring back each of the humans within. I hadn’t counted on them killing each other. Fuel, Allie! Use that disappointment as fuel!
My eyes were stinging with frustrated tears despite my reminder as I reached into the cage.
He jabbed my hand with the needle.
“Ouch!”
Again, and again. His movements were too quick for me to guess in that strange almost stilted and yet fluid way the Fae had. It was as if they were just jumping over little bits of time and space.
I pulled my hand out as fast as I could, cursing.
“Fine. They can rot in there with you. Enjoy the smell of putrefaction!” I sucked the wounds on my fingers.
“Let me out of the cage,” he said grimly. “Let me out and I will not slay you, too.”
I snorted. “You’re holding a sewing needle. You’re going to slay me with that?”
He waggled his eyebrows. “It’s not the size that counts.”
“Keep telling yourself that,” I muttered.

★ Who is your most owned author? Happy #StackSaturday friends, I am kicking #ShadowhunterSunday off early! My most owned author is definitely Cassandra Clare, this stack is only about half of my #Shadowhunters books. All of them take up almost three full shelves! I also have a #Shadowhunter confession to make: I still haven’t read The Lost Book of the White. 😬 🙊 I’m getting there, I promise, and I look forward to filling in more of the gaps of Alec and Magnus’s story. ★ As we creep ever closer to #TheWickedPowers, are there any characters you’re excited to catch up with? I am looking forward to seeing Kit, Ty, and Ash. ★ CURRENTLY // 🎧 Fly with the Arrow by Sarah K.L. Wilson 📖 Haunting Adeline by H.D. Audiobook Review: Sting Magic by Sarah K.L. Wilson
Audiobook Review: Sting Magic by Sarah K.L. Wilson
Hardcover, 336 pagesPublished September 21st 2020 by Sparkflight Books Having enjoyed the author’s Fae Hunter series, I was excited when she announced this new series that featured magic that takes the shape of birds with an MC whose magic is shaped like bees instead. I’m sorry it took me so long to start this series as I greatly enjoyed book one on audio. The narrator did a great job…
