(TW // mentions of trauma, self-harm, and other contributing situations where loneliness may arise)
You know that lonely feeling when the world seems far too small? Every action, every breath, every glance feels unworthy, feels so out of reach from putting the pieces of yourself back together. No glue seems to hold. No stitches seem to keep. Seeing people around you bloom with radiant colors, and you feel stuck at the sprouting phase in life.
The most ironic thing about it all, however, is that you truly are not alone. So many folks out there experience the same exact emotions as you, feeling just as absent and lost in the void. Breakups, mental health, grief, trauma, gender identity, self-image, self-discovery; there is a soul out there who is going through just the same. My own challenges include battling intense depression and anxiety, divorce during childhood, self-harm, and substance abuse issues. I openly say this so you do not have to if it makes you uncomfortable. Your loneliness is shared, as hard as that is to believe.
And even if that does not aid in making you feel just an ounce more whole, even in your loneliness you are always there for yourself. You, in all your years, have held your own hand. You have kept breathing. You have kept moving. And in that, you are carrying such immense strength.
You, my dear, have never been alone.

Today’s post comes in collaboration with Whalecake (@whalecakeagency), partnered with The Marmalade Trust (@marmalade_trust), supporting their campaign for Loneliness Awareness Week! This is the sixth annual LAW week and is dedicated to bringing the spotlight to that aching feeling of loneliness that so many of us feel, yet tend to push away as unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
It IS important.
You ARE heard.
You ARE seen.
You are NOT alone.
