Hi!!! Your posts are always amazing and I have so many bookmarked because you create the best little collections. Anyway, I am in a big BL rut right now and I can't seem to get into anything. Any fast-paced, recs that can bring me out of my slump? Thanks so so much :)

Oooo, fast paced is pretty subjective lemme think...

Imma got with the narrative sense of the word pacing (rather than just an in-your-face fast-moving plot, although that too,) so: good tension, craft, and narrative. Here's my pulls - I went broad and into the well, in case you had seen some recent stuff.

10 Fast-Paced BLs to Pull You Out of a Slump

(I'm assuming you have seen KinnPorsche)

I did a quick pitch for each cause I'm drunk so maybe they're funny, all spelling errors are my own and the result of growing up in 3 different English speaking nations and 2 non-English ones.

Our Dating Sim - nerds in love, reunion, deadlines, gaming, teasing, pining tiny idiots, ADORABLE

2. Semantic Error - you cannot be a BL fan and not have watched this, the ultimate enemies to lovers, also the prettiest

3. To My Star - neurotic actor (actual puppy), grumpy chef, sparks, cooking lessons, LOVE!

4. We Best Love - defines fast paced in romance, literally when asked why his character fell in love so fast Yu said, "well I only had one 20 minute episode." Yet... we BELIEVED IT.

5. HIStory 2: Crossing the Line - it's a perfect sports romance, don't bother me with trifles

6. Not Me - also how do you say antidisestablishmentarianism in Thai? + hot boys kissing who probably shouldn't be and convoluted soap opera identical twins plot... someone at GMMTV thought it made sense, we just here for the tattoos and the the Pride scene

7. The Eighth Sense - who let Korea be this angsty? SO MUCH TENSION.

8. Unintentional Love Story - omg the plot, forced into a totally understandable betrayal, falling in love despite himself, put into a corner he can't get out of, the AGONY, the eyes EMOTING at us in PAIN

9. HIStory 3: Trapped - hot cop falls in love with hotter mafia boss he is chasing for MURDER (bonus weirdly domesticated switch-blade wielding hit-man obsessed with geeky police tech support - COME ON)

10. Long Time No See - assassins, cat fishing, either side of a turf war, HOT sex scenes then even hotter beating the shit out of each other and kissing while COVERED IN BLOOD (this came from KOREA?)

Trust me. I really tried not watching Unknown. Because it's about love between siblings and i can't digest that easily. It's kind of a taboo topic for me. But....

After watching all the gifs and meta analysis, I decided to give it a try. Man.. The show is awesome.

I still can't wrap my head around the love between siblings, though they aren't biological siblings, but the show is good. The pacing, the way it unfolds, I like it.

Intro

Summer is slowly coming, so let’s have some fun 🌞

This event is very simple, write anything you want, anything, as long as it's under or at 1k, so 1000 words maximum, can you do it? 😏

All media, pairings and ratings welcome.

The event

If you want any ideas to play with, you can use this crossword puzzle, and try to guess some words that can count as prompts, but remember, no obligation. Yes, the website is in french, but don’t panic, all you have to do is click on the word you’re trying to guess, and type.

The only rule is to keep your story under or at 1k, so 1000 words maximum.

Fics should be one-shots as well, but can be from the same story, or world/universe.

Posting day begins on July 24 (Monday) and ends July 30 (Sunday).

10 BL Pairs That Should be Reunited in New Rolls!

1. Son Woo Hyun & Kim Kang Min

I am taking them away from Hwang Da Seul and handing them over to WATCHA (Light On Me, Semantic Error).

Try.

Again.

Korea.

2. Golden Blood’s Sugus & Tenon (PitchBank).

They never co-branded, tho, so it seems highly unlikely but I absolutely loved their chemistry.

3. Pluem & Chimon

I just like their screen presence together and I think their energy suits GMMTV’s style so if they deigned to give them a meaty script like they do with SantaEarth, these 2 could handle it. It seems GMMTV is done with this pair though, and Pluem wasn’t in the 2023 line up at all.

4. Park Seo Ham & Park Jae Chan

But I explicitly do NOT want a second season of Semantic Error. BL has a bad track record with second seasons.

I want them to play opposite personality types. Just to see if they can recreate the magic. We fantasy casting? I want it to be teacher/student trope, with Jae Chan as a sunshine sweetheart bubbly pursuer of the relationship and Seo Ham as some hurt broken angry closed off gentle giant professor type with a heart of gold.

5. Komiya Rio & Inoue Sora

Eternal Yesterday was sad from the very first moment, we all knew what we were in for. But these two had killer chemsitry on screen together so I’d love to see them in a HEA BL. Now Japan never does couple branding (anymore - they will do second seasons tho), so this will not happen, but still, I loved them together.

6. Chris & Jake

Look, we all know they’d be game, and I’ve given up on a 2nd season of H3: Trapped, so I’ll just take them in another series together. Speaking of...

7. Lance Chiu & Kawai Akihiro

I adored See You After Quarantine? and I LOVE an international pairing, so I really want these two to anchor proper full length BL for either Taiwan or Japan, I’m not fussy. For the tiniest bit of shared screen time they had amazing chemistry. So there is a large part of me that wants to hand them over to Japan and see what they could do with an actually solid existing pair and a killer script.

8. YinWar

I was super disappointed in Love Mechanics but I love these two on screen together so I really want to see more of them.

9. PerthLay

I have given up hope on the second season of My Engineer, so I just want them to do something, anything, together so long as they are the leads and it’s a full Thai season.

10. SamYu

What? Of course they make my list. This is me after all.

i recently just finished watching we best love and oh my god 😭 what an introduction to taiwanese bl. it’s just so good and the chemistry between sam and yu is insane! they said season 3 is in the works but it’s almost 2 years and there’s still no news hfkshe i hope we can get more DeYi moments in s3 bcs i cant really get enough of them (hopefully a wedding)
