the saddest part of samfro thats just been killing me lately is the fact that they do genuinely want what’s best for each other, they just both agree that being far, FAR away from each other is what is best. the reason sam didn’t argue at the pier is because he knows what’s best for frodo is the west, and the reason frodo let sam pursue rosie is the same. he knows he can’t be the one good thing in sam’s life, understands he can’t be that source of love and comfort for him even when he so badly wants to be. they both just want the other to be happy, even though their happiest is very far apart o(—(

I am god and now am giving out sexualities to lotr charachters because no one can stop me. And I have insomnia and sleep deprived.

Frodo: A gay trans man and on the ace spectrum

Samwise: Bisexual and there's a reason I nickname him transwise gamgee. (samfro is t4t)

Pippin: Just a feral nonbinary guy (They/he) and is pansexual. he falls in love easily. Probalbly had a crush on everyone they met throughout the journey. (he even had a crush on tom bombadil because he liked his little gay songs)

Merry: Token straight out of the hobbits and is in love with eowyn, which is now his sexuality.... (I mean i dont blame him)

Boromir: Definitely not straight. I mean have you seen him? gay, absolutely gay

Aragorn: Straight but has questioned his gender many times.

Gandalf: The most aro/ace icon out there. Uses all pronouns. Will trans your gender and turn homophobes, transphobes and general bigots into toads. Move out of her way or you will be crushed by her heels.

Legolas: pretty fluid when it comes to gender, mostly uses he/they pronouns however he really doesn't mind anything else. He identifies as queer.

Gimli: he's a bear bisexual and will kill anyone who purposely misgenders another. He is dating his partner Legolas and has a lot of fun with them when they hunt down bigots.

Eowyn: She is bisexual and also loved merry (except they are both too scared to make the first move)

Faramir: Gandalf helped him transition when he was a child. All he wants is to be accepted by his father. Boromir loves that he has a brother. He is also unlabled.

Denethor: Repressed bisexual.

Arwen: I cant tell if shes straight or bi, but I’m leaning towards the latter

Elrond: The best dad in the world, but otherwise he is also straight.

Bilbo: The gay traumatized fun uncle. Obviously had a dwarf husband, but sadly is widowed. Now he sings his gay little songs and everyone adores him. mood tbh

Eomer: Straight but is extremely supportive of Gimli and Legolas that he cries whenever they do something sweet to one another. It gets worse when he's drunk.

Theodred: Hes not even really in the book but I need to spread my Boromir/Theodred rare pair ship. Hes bisexual obviously. 

Galadriel: Intersex, nonbinary (they/she) and has a hot trophy husband.

Celeborn: the trophy husband, a trans man and is queer. 

Saruman: He is the definition of the queer-coded villain. I mean his name is saurman of all colours and he literally transforms into a gay pride flag.

Tom Bombadil & Goldberry: They deserve to be grouped as one because they are the best representation of a queer platonic couple out there. Goals.

Rosie Cotton: Bi but doe sent really know it, but if she ever met Goldberry, she might then have her awakening.

last and not least we have Sauron himself, and anyone whose read the Silmarillion know exactly what his sexuality is. so go read it.

hELLO do you have any fun specific hopes/theories/headcanons for st5?

Honestly I am not like super headcanon forward as a watcher because I think I have expectations trust issues from other television and therefore stick to what I can see on screen before speculating, BUT!

Headcanons + some things I would love to see explored (that aren’t just aggressive amounts of pining byler)?

The whole “Will is suppressed in his queerness being attached to soteria/suppression of powers” is like. 11/10 concept imo. It goes along with horror history so well (shout out @pinkeoni for that analysis) and plays so well into the whole relating to “Alan Turing” bit that we were introduced to start of S4, given his history as a gay man.

re, the last point: the contrast in queerness between Mike and Will being explored as someone who shows more blatant attraction to men but struggles to accept it as an identity versus someone who accepts their identity while suppressing their attraction (by outside forces or not) is also a dynamic I think would be cool to explore. I am not an ace Will truther at all but. I do think he shies away from his own sexuality a lot in a way they don’t do with Mike.

I really want “samfro caught on mount doom together while the rest of the fellowship fights an army” byler vibes—something about El and Lucas as Aragorn & Legolas with Dustin (Gimli) and Erica (Merry/Pippin) while Will struggles with feeling alone carrying the heavy burden of a connection to Vecna? Some “I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you” heroism from Mike? El getting a moment to reunite with Max (Arwen) at the hand of Lucas, just like in Return of the King? Fucking mint lmao

I need scenes of Max in whatever place she’s still alive in like I need oxygen. Working from “the inside” to do exposition on Henry + the UD while she’s in a coma while the party sorts through it in Hawkins feels like such a phenomenal writing opportunity I’ll be desperately sad if they don’t explore it. I hope they include some elements of like. The duality of presence a la The Talisman in that given Lucas was reading it to her in the hospital? But 🤷🏽‍♀️

GIVE ME TIME FKERY OR GIVE ME DEATH. I know it’s pretty much guaranteed at this point but. I need Mr. Clarke back stat, with some convoluted ass theory explained on a paper plate again. I need the most elaborate UD reality just, absolutely borderline nonsensical lore for like a full episode so I can watch this series back again and see it from SECOND ONE (or minute 8:15) and giggle like a schoolgirl knowing the duffers really are smart/the haters were wrong.

I want more Wheelers! I know Nancy is central to the supernatural given she was the only other one pulled in by Vecna and not killed—just sent as a messenger—but. I have so many Wheeler and Creel thoughts at this point I don’t know where to start, but. They are the PERFECT family for exploring picture-perfection against horror themes (just like the Creels) and I want it. Like “don’t care how, I want it now” level focus on them, along with their Byers.

I said it before but: an exploration of motherhood as a theme makes so much sense to me, and it seems to be important to The Duffers too, so. I want it.

Kinda want RoVickie as the couple who introduces the idea of the supernatural + queerness v Hawkins element at the start of the season, and for byler to be the ones who “end it.” I think that would be a fascinating way to parallel them more, though…I haven’t much thought this through.

If they don’t make Finn Wolfhard sob his little eyes out this season I’m going to feel betrayed. I need him like. Noah level pressed at least once next season, for the culture (Finn said he wanted to do more dramas. Let him defeat the bad actor allegations here so they let him LMAOOOO)

That’s all I can think of for now! I’m sure there are more, but. Those were the firsts that came to mind haha.

How old were you when you read/watched LOTR for the first time? I fr only started reading the books last year after first watching the films and I still haven't finished them 💔 I read The Hobbit in 7th grade though. It's where I first encountered the world 'paraphernalia'.

Favorite LOTR character? Choosing one seems impossible so Sam/Pippin/Arwen (all the hobbits tbh like I kind of moderately zone out when they're not on screen oops)

Books or movies? Both have their strengths! I prefer the book version of several characters (Legolas, Merry, etc) but the films have this essence to them that hasn't quite been replicated in the 20+ years since and that's quite a feat imo.

Favorite movie? Tempted to say Fellowship solely bc it's the only time we see the hobbits fully happy and un-traumatized lmao, but Two Towers is always so overlooked so I'd say that's my true favorite.

Which location in Middle Earth would you most like to visit? Visit and live are two different questions sooo Lothlorien <3

Favorite scene? It's a solid tie between Pippin's song, Sam's speech at the end of TT, and Eowyn killing the Witch King<3 (OH AND THE DELETED WOOD ELVES SCENE 💕💗💕💞💕 SO BITTERSWEET)

1: what OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

(I don’t want hate for this!! these are just my notps. everyone has their own opinions!!)

SamFro, BagginShield, Legolas/Gimli, Arwen/Aragorn, and Merry/Pippin. Merry and Pippin are cousins, so that one’s pretty self-explanatory. incest is gross. With SamFro, I just feel like Sam is really happy with Rosie and a “that’s my wife” type guy. With BagginShield, Thorin died, tried to kill Bilbo a couple times, was generally very rude to him until he died, and constantly made fun of him, so it just feels very toxic. Legolas and Gimli are literally just friends, they only begin to tolerate each other after a long time, plus they just don’t seem like they’d be a couple lol. Arwen and Aragorn kinda gross me out, especially since they were basically raised as siblings/cousins..gross lol.

2: are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

basically the ones I mentioned in #1 lol, plus merry/Eowyn. they never even had romantic interactions lol, just mutual respect and some friendly conversations. plus Eowyn and faramir are way too cute to not ship imo

10: most disliked arc? why?

eh, I love all of them! i could live without the Saruman/Gandalf fight, but it’s also important to the plot so it’s okay. the only reason I don’t like their fight is bc Saruman looks almost exactly like my uncle and Gandalf reminds me of my (late) grandpa, so it’s a little painful to watch 😅

14: unpopular opinion about your fandom?

not everyone has to be shipped with someone, plain platonic friendships are okay too! I’ve seen a lot of the fandom divide over ships, which is so sad! Tolkien wrote it in a way to make it mostly romance free, mainly focusing on hope, trials, friendship, and the importance of peace (among other messages, but still)

25: how would you end XXX/would you change the ending of XXX?

the fact that Frodo goes to the Grey havens has always bugged me, but I get why they let him - he was the ring bearer. i also don’t really like that the hobbits all left the shire after a while, it just makes me so sad! they all talked about their home so often and how much they missed it but they didn’t stay. I’m a very nostalgic person so I’ve never understood wanting to leave something that you love so much, but that’s just me. i also feel so bad for Gollum:(

I have answered this but basically Dwalin/Ori, Bilbo and Thorin with someone else except each other and Aragorn/Legolas. I forgot to mention Fili/Kili but it was such a big NO in my head that I didn't even count it! Bilbo/Smaug is just wannabe Johnlock without the fun part of Johnlock so why really?!

20.What is the purest ship in the fandom?

Any ship can be pure or cursed if you try enough 😎

Bagginshield is pure love and even their smut can't get away from tenderness no matter how nasty it can be!

Barduil is pure dad energy so I give them that!

Fili/Ori is just so pure, childhood friends to lovers but add the jock/nerd trope and that's them!

Samfro is the purest and the most feral ship at the same time, the things the other is capable to do for the other is wild!

Faramir dude is so pure by himself! Like you can ship him with a rock and would still be so pure!

21.What are your thoughts on crack ships?

I don't read them but you go for it! The only limit on shipping is imagination so go for your impossible to meet ever pair or your crossover one! Kudos for your effort! Love for anyone!
