a/n: just to make it clear, for the “teenage avenger” series, i have a core group of “teenage avengers”. this includes the reader, peter parker, harley keener, and miles morales :) also requests are open! lmk if you want a scenario or headcanons! can include the reader or not!!

the avengers might be the busiest people in the world.

however, they always make time at least once a month to have breakfast together at the compound.

it was steve’s idea (of course!!) but when he mentioned it for the first time, everyone quickly got on board.

pietro was so excited that he sped over to the cupboards, talking incoherently about chocolate chip pancakes.

however, he soon came back (in less than a second, ofc) with a sad face.

turns out, you all had an issue on your hands. 

there was no pancake mix, no bacon, no eggs, no fruit, no nothing!

ok, he was being dramatic. there was some food, but certainly not enough to feed ALL the avengers.

tony volunteered the “kids” ( you, harley, peter, and miles ) to go to the store.

clint decided he wanted to go too, and then scott decided to join at the last minute.

so the six of you piled into the car.

scott drove (regrettably -- the man has some issues with attention), you got shotgun, and peter, harley, miles and clint were all in the back.

now, you may be wondering why clint was in the back and not the front, because he seems to be a responsible adult in this situation.

well, first of all, have you met clint barton? do you even know what he’s like? 

second of all, the avengers have a very strict “you call it, you get it” policy when it comes to the car.

this happened when thor “accidentally” stepped on scott’s foot so that he could get in the front seat.

anyways scott definitely plays cheery 70s music in the car.

he turns it up super loud and sings along (very off key)

every single time that man stops at a stoplight he turns around with an eager look on his face. harley is usually on his phone, but peter and miles try to give him a smile.

clint’s just flipping him off :) 

so once y'all get to the store, it's time to get serious.

well, in harley, peter, miles, and your eyes.

for clint and scott? debatable.

as you're all getting the cart, somehow clint and scott slip away.

and then you hear it.

" y/n !!! y/n !!! "

you turn at the mention of your name to see clint barton, that silly little guy, holding six lightsabers in his hands.

how he got six of them in like less than a minute is a great question.

and yet, it's the coolest thing you've seen all week.

immediately, the whole trip is overtaken by all of you chatting about how to use the lightsabers.

some ideas include; scaring tony by calling him into a dark room where you all turn them on at the same time, scaring steve by calling him into a dark room where you all turn them on at the same time, scaring sam by calling him into a dark room where you all turn them on at the same time...

ok maybe they were kind of unoriginal.

you decided that you would consult sam + bucky (the prank masters ofc) later to get some advice.

anyways you bought so much stuff.

like there were literally three carts of food.

on the way home, clint had to ride in the trunk LMAO

btw the compound is so cool and high tech that once you pull the car into the garage and open the trunk, there’s this little robot that sorts everything out and then puts it in tubes that take it to the pantries and fridges. 

it’s very convenient because it would’ve taken you all like fifteen trips, even with super strength or whatever 

so now you’re finally back up in the kitchen

and pietro keeps telling you all how hungry he is

wanda tells him to stop and literally makes a forcefield with her magic so he can't interrupt y'all LMAO

now you're actually good at cooking.

im gonna go ahead and say you, sam, and wanda are the best cooks in the compound.

happy is actually good too, he just never wants to HAHA

but you made a deal with him that you wouldn't bother him for three days if he helped you so he's in the kitchen now.

he even wore this super cheesy "kiss the cook" apron that tony got him for christmas once

AND a chef hat.

anyways so y'all have to make a LOT of food.

i mean the avengers are the avengers, they get really hungry.

so originally miles & peter & harley wanted to help you, but then peter somehow cut his finger plugging in the waffle iron? so you just put him in charge of music.

and then harley kept accidentally knocking the pancake mix everywhere.

so then sam made him stand by him and watch him cook.

miles was good though, he has skills.

you had to make pancakes AND waffles, because nobody could come up with what was best.

once when you were on winter break, you tried to have a final competition on whether pancakes or waffles were better.

just as pancakes were in the lead, dr strange came in and said waffles were the best.

so now you always have to make both.

you enlisted steve to help bring everything to the table.

he's really good at balancing like six or seven plates at a time.

scott was ready to help too, but you just made him set the table instead because otherwise he was gonna get hurt.

once everything was done and on the table, you all sat down.

but then just as you were ready, the lights went out.

and that kind of freaked you out, because i mean, yeah.

AND THEN YOU SAW A SINGLE LIGHTSABER TURN ON.

so you turned the lights back on and yelled at clint for scaring you.

and then you all ate together :)

Hi! My day is going well, thank you! Hope yours is too.

It’s always missing Sam Wilson hours in this house, so here’s a list of some headcanons:

Sam had wanted to fly ever since he started walking. He’d always been fascinated by birds and butterflies and planes and their wings and their ability to soar through the sky. He would sit by the windows and watch them for hours on end.

He was probably very excited the first time he was on a plane, and it was like a dream come true. He begged for the window seat and his parents agreed because they knew how happy it would make him. He stared out the window the whole flight, basically whooping every time he saw a bird fly close.

He started reading books about birds the minute he learned how to read. He’s definitely the kind of person who randomly tells you bird facts mid conversation. It’s endlessly endearing.

I think he was pretty young when he realised he’s attracted (exclusively) to men. Maybe it was the first time he came across the word gay and its definition or a picture or a poem and he was like oh, this is me. I feel like this. He didn’t tell anyone for the longest time.

The first person he came out to was his mom. Maybe he was staying up late to study. It had been a long week at school and some of his classmates were saying just casual homophobic things and it got to him and he hated how he couldn’t do or say anything about it. He went to the kitchen mostly looking for a distraction, and he saw his mom there, just sitting at the table, and he took a seat opposite her and just poured his heart out. These conversations are always easier in the dark, quite nights, after all. She held him in her arms for hours, and they talked until the sun was rising.

Sarah found out next. He didn’t exactly mean to tell her, but he thought he had the house to himself and he was making out with his first boyfriend and Sarah came home early and walked in on them and it was one of the most embarrassing moments of his life. Her first words were, really, Sam? A white boy?

Riley was his first true love. Sam was young and reckless and a thrill chaser and he fell hard and fast. Their whole relationship was like that, a fast, fast burn. Sam was chasing that thrill of being in love, enjoying all the stolen kisses and whispered words.

Riley was also his first heartbreak. After he was gone, Sam thought for sure he would never love again, simply because his heart was too torn apart. It was true for many years.

As quick as it was with Riley, it was as slow with Steve.

Maybe it was the point they were at their lives. Maybe because they were both lonely and broken, but they were so gentle and slow with each other, like they knew how fragile their hearts were. It was love, and it was beautiful, but it was never going to work. It was still worth it, because Sam and Steve were right for each other, but time wasn’t on their side.

Sam’s entire relationship with Bucky was simultaneously the most complicated and simple thing ever.

I like to think Sam didn’t even realise he was in love with Bucky until he was in too deep, because there was always a feeling of fondness for that old, white man who loved staring so much. They were already as close as two people could be, they knew each other inside out, they were comfortable with each other, so how would Sam know that that feeling in his chest was because he was actually in love with the guy?

It took them a long time to get together, wary and weary as they (Sam) were, but once they got together (after the most over-the-top, grand love confession in the history of love confessions), they were the most annoyingly in love couple around.

Sam never wanted to get married, mostly because he didn’t think he would find someone to love and be loved by again, but it was a quiet night in and Bucky was reading his book while Sam pretended to watch whatever was playing on the screen and the words we should get married were out of his mouth before he really thought about it. Bucky stared at him for the longest time.

They got married within the week. The next mission, Sam left with a ring around his neck and Bucky’s last-name next to his own.

I think he doesn't usually run with music. He likes the morning noises. But, I do think "Start a Riot" by Duckwrth would be on his workout playlist!

Ohhh, immediately (after sobbing) I have two thoughts. 1) The first time they get up in the air in the wings, outside of a training facility. The wind is loud and fierce, the air is kind of thin, and they're flying. Riley's outlined by the sun and he looks over at Sam with a laugh. Even with the goggles, Sam knows his eyes are shining. He lets out a whoop and goes careening down in lazy spirals until he's soaring back up behind Sam. Sam's heart's beating so dang hard in his chest and it has so little to do with the wings right then. Or 2) the first time he and Riley take leave together, they go on a roadtrip from Louisiana to Montana in a rented RV that doesn't even have enough room for both of them to turn around next to each other. They're camped for lunch, laying on the ground under a terrible visor canopy, staring at the tree leaves and sunshine, fingers barely brushing between their legs. Any time he needs a second of calm, he thinks about that moment.

🚗 When was the last time Sam took his nephews out to do something fun?

I think he tries to do an Uncle/Nephew New Orleans trip once a month when he can. The last one was a trip to Audubon Zoo. The weather was perfect for it (even if it was still a little too cool for the water park) and AJ and Cass totally convinced him to spend too much money in the gift shop.

He doesn't open up easily until the time and effort is taken for him to trust someone. Plus I've always headcanoned that Sam adopted Figaro after he left the air force and Riley died. Like he became a support animal that helped Sam get up in the morning and take care of himself because he had a little buddy to also take care of.

Because I also imagine Figaro chilling in the background of Sam's CAWS home...

(Of course Nat would trust Sam right away. He's a Cat Dad! 😁)

And then during Endgame, Nat could've had Figaro with her! (Maybe Sam's neighbour who'd looked after him after Sam was a fugitive also got blipped and Figaro was sent to the Avengers Compound...)

Especially since this scene between Nat and Steve reflects on the people they've lost. i.e. SAM! The missing third person of their fugitive trio 😭😭

Basically what I'm saying is... I want more Figaro! Everywhere. He represents love and grief but also healing.

🐱 Cutest thing Figaro has done this week?

He was curled up under Sam's chin, lifted his head to yawn, and accidentally closed his mouth around Sam's nose. They stared at each other for a while before Figaro carefully yawned again and moved his head away. Sam wanted to laugh, but couldn't on account of the cat on his chest.

🚗 When was the last time Sam took his nephews out to do something fun?

I mentioned the zoo on another ask, but I think he also takes the boys to a local arcade/go kart/funscape from time to time. There are batting cages and they toss a few balls around and Sam pretends to pitch like he used to (of course it's not the same. The kiddos are too young and Sam may be something akin to too old) but they have a great time and then they head inside for the arcade and more pizza than Sam can eat (but not more pizza than the boys can eat apparently)

🐶 Sam gets interviewed for a fluff piece - what animal do they have Sam cuddle with?

Such a fun question because I genuinely have a 'Heroes and Animals' Calendar fic sitting in my drafts. As easy as it would be, I don't think they'd give him birds. I can see him advocating for shelter cats after he adopts Fig, but I think for a fluff piece, they would totally give him puppies. Big dog puppies, like labs and retrievers and shepherds. At one point, three of them team up to drag the shield away from him. One time he's handed a chameleon and, though he starts off HIGHLY apprehensive, he falls in love with it and asks to adopt it after the interview. He and Cass have dual custody of it.
