[ID: A digital illustration of Usagi Tsukino, Mamoru Chiba, and Fiore from Sailor Moon. The image is a redraw of an image of Anne Hathaway, Audra McDonald, and Raul Esparza in Twelfth Night. Usagi is in her Sailor Moon form, Mamoru is in his Tuxedo Mask form but missing his mask and hat, and Fiore is in his true alien form. Usagi is kissing Mamoru and he is looking at her as Fiore leans his face against Mamoru's shoulder. Usagi and Fiore are holding either end of Sailor Moon's wand between them, in front of Mamoru. Thank you Sailor Moon R The Movie for inventing bisexuality <3
In my opinion, it has great music, nice animation, and a lovely story. It's kind of like a loose interpretation of Phantom of The Opera. Also I think monster lovers would find it interesting. My favorite scene has to be where the monster sings for the first time and it shows some scenes from his point of view, ending with the female protag being kind to him and giving him a name.
Sailor Moon R: The Movie:
It's so beautifully animated, full of great fight scenes and transformations, the soundtrack is AMAZING, and it's just so earnest in the best way, it'll get you emotional about the power of love and friendship :') plus they basically made the male love interest of the most famous magical girl of all times bisexual, and had a cute little pink child point a gun at Sailor Moon. It's got everything.
Tribute to "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon R: The Movie" made for the "Retro Anime" fanart contest, where years are assigned by randomizer. I got 1993, which also happened to be a year when this movie was released 30 years ago. So why not to honor its anniversary (in advance, as its release was in December). R Movie is not my very favorite out of all three, yet I decided to highlight best parts of it in my artwork.
It was alright. Very short. Animation was pretty dang good. Lots of Usamamo angst and very focused on Mamoru. Mamoru used himself as a body sheild for Usagi. AGAIN. Fiore was very gay. Lots of pink flowers. Chibiusa didn't need to be in the movie and because she was I can only assume it took place somewhere between the Bkack Moon arc after Usagi and Mamoru are back together. Idk. They killed off Usagi for a few minutes. I finally saw one of the best Usamamo manga panels adapted in this anime :D
This is so freaking adorable oh my god-
STOP AGHH He loves her so much he's so relieved that she's alive. She's his whole world 😭😭😭
The art is amazing, the dogs are adorable, the story is engaging and suspenseful, and the Roger-Anita household is such a happy and supportive one. The way they could both bring along their childhood nannies to look after them because one said she would be their cook and the other said she would be their butler -- and began dressing like one -- was always a favourite detail of mine, and of course, a husband who is willing to buy you a big new house in the country if your current flat isn't big enough for all the dogs you want to keep is prime relationship goals. "Cruella de Vil" is a good song too.
