#sailor moon on Netflix
Text
Imagine this chain of events:
1) “One Piece” live action is a massive success. Apparently, it broke a lot of Netflix records and outperformed “Stranger Things” and “Wednesday”.
2) A few months later, Netflix’s live action “Avatar the Last Airbender” also turns out to be a success. (For the sake of this post, ATLA’s success is more of an add-on rather than a requirement).
3) HBO sees Netflix’s success and immediately looks for anime shows to adapt. They quickly adopt Netflix’s strategy for “One Piece” in that they’re gonna bring in the original author as an executive producer. To compete with Netflix, they pick “Bleach” and “Hellsing” mainly because those shows are dark, which fits HBO’s style.
4) Simultaneously, Amazon does the same thing as HBO and Netflix. They pick “Naruto” and “Fullmetal Alchemist” as their shows.
5) Last but not least, Disney Plus gets in on the craze. Since they’re family friendly, they go with “Sailor Moon” and “Dragonball Z” (obviously, Disney already has experience with action-adventure franchises with super-powered people).
The end result: Because of Netflix breaking the anime-to-live action curse with “One Piece”, they cause a butterfly effect that ushers the return of the era of 2000s anime.

I recently reread @rueitae's Familiar AU and got so very inspired to draw these besties. It's such a fun series, and I've read it three times and the bottom picture won't make sense unless you read it, so that means you're legally obligated to go do that ❤️

I am about to watch the season 1 finale of Bridgerton on Netflix.
I want to discuss it with someone (as well as S2), does anyone have any opinions?

No. 6 on my list of top animated series for 2023: "Supa Team 4"
youtube
I only heard about Malenga Mulendema's Supa Team 4 on a whim, on social media. I'm glad I did because Netflix continues to inadequate promote this series. Although I don't always like computer-generated animations, this superhero action-comedy series remains one of my favorites for 2023. This series, produced by Trigger Fish Animation Studios, shares some characteristics with other teenage superhero series and classic 2000s series from the 2000s. The story is wholy Zambian and centers on four girls with different (and sometimes clashing) personalities: Temwe Chiti, Komana Mwinga, Zikomo "Zee" Phiri, and Monde Wamunyima. They are brought together by a former secret agent named Mama K.
Similar to other entries on this list, Temwe, Komana, Zee, and Monde feel obligated to keep their real identities secret. They have one of the coolest superhero transformations, with upbeat music and a distinctive flair. It is only rivaled by Sailor Moon, series within the Pretty Cure franchise, and magical girl works. Themes like environmental protection, family, work-life balance, value of art, and obsession with popularity are key. They face off against a villain who tries to steal the city's electric power, while masquerading as a "Black empowerment" capitalist. The second season premieres on December 21 and will continue centering African stories.

Potentially good news for sailor moon fans.
I saw that jojo stone ocean is starting to get its home media release early next year, meaning eternal sailor moon may be getting an announcement from viz in the near future. both series were viz licenses released on netflix around the same time . Jojo is getting released through viz like the other seasons, so sailor moon may be on the horizon. For anyone enthusiastic consider contacting viz through their support chat or on x/ Twitter so they see interest.

Announcement going forward
We’ve decided it would be best to marathon Kipo’s final season so it could be completed. Because of this, I’ve decide to do Young Justice next, because I don’t want to make them wait 10 episodes for a 4 episode batch.
So yeah, Kipo fans may have to wait a bit, but you’ll be rewarded with a full season so...
I think Owl House can wait until after the marathon considering that ended on a season finale, but we’ll play it by ear. There have been talks of doing a marathon for She-Ra, too, but that’s a bit longer of a season... we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
tl;dr Young Justice next, Kipo season 3 marathon after (Owl House may or may not come between.)
