Yang & Ruby's Childhood
Oh how I wish, I wish that people would stop ignoring canon and pretending Yang & Ruby had functional adults who were good parents in their lives after Summer died.
Because the fact of the matter is that they did not and canon has spelled this out again and again for the audience with increasing clarity every single time.
In Volume 2, Yang overtly states that Tai shut down following Summer’s to the point where his neglect became so pronounced a 5 and 3 year old who were grieving were left alone for hours and could disappear into a Grimm inhabited island looking for a different parental figure.
Its re-established again in volume Five when Yang spells out to Weiss in no uncertain terms that after Summer disappeared, Yang, a five year old, was the one who needed to keep the family together and the trauma this inflicted on her alone is obvious. Let alone Ruby, because she was both being neglected and being raised by someone only two years her senior. Something Ruby fully acknowledges was the cast.
There’s a multitude of other things I feel Tai has done wrong as both a teacher and a parent, but these one’s are undeniable, openly stated facets of the household.
And Qrow doesn’t get an out by being the uncle either, oh no.
Ruby makes it expressly clearly despite how much she loves and admires her Uncle she is very much used to him dropping back into her life shit faced drunk and being carted home by a stranger and needing to be taken care of.
Again, by children!
He has his reasons and his problems, but amazingly that doesn’t stop this from being a shitty way to grow up. No matter how much Tai & Qrow might love these two, they were not ‘great parents’, I wouldn’t even call them good.
These two adults were negligent and damaging to the children under their care despite how much they may have loved them, and the fact that is ignored really burns me up inside.

I thought I'd share this epic piece that was commissioned by KeynoriamaArt on deviant art in collaboration with @sometimeshector on twitter.
This is based off my wip fanfic Son Gohan The Destroyer https://archiveofourown.org/works/26747353/chapters/65252929 which I will shamlessly plug.
In this story, Gohan becomes a trainee God of Destruction after dying at the Cell Games (taking Cell to the grave with him though, thank you very much!). Whis plucks his soul from its journey to the Otherworld as he realises Gohan's potential. After an ultimatum, Gohan accepts to be trained by Whis, along with other hopefuls for the role of Junior Destroyer.
I know some may think, but wait, Gohan wouldn't become a Destroyer - would he? Well, Gohan is a person who fights for the greater good, so Whis does manage to win him over here. He becomes Lord Beerus' apprentice, but not in the way you might think this story would play out.
Theres a lot of twists and turns, along with an ancient evil trying to stake his claim on the multiverse. Of course, Gohan is the only one who can stand between this menace and his goal.
This particular piece takes place in the early 20s chapters. After Gohan reveals himself to Goku and his friends back on Earth. Goku - of course - challenges Gohan to a friendly spar. But at this point Goku does not know that his son is a Destroyer! THE DRAMA!
I love this piece its so beautiful. Along with long hair Gohan. He is 19 years old here - kids have the chance to grow up in the Otherworld in my fic.
Please enjoy :)

it’s 2:45 AM that isn’t important but it gives context Ethan and Chad headcanons
Ethan is in constant conflict about how he feels about Chad
because Chad is Chad
he played football in high school and he flirts with girls like it’s nothing and he high fives people when walking to class and everybody loves him
and Ethan resents him for the fact that everybody loves him when most people don’t even like Ethan
because even when he wasn’t sitting with his shoulders in, trying to act as non threatening as possible, with insecure virgin comments and cardboard costumes
before richie died and he didn’t have to play a part for some big scheme to get revenge, when he would act closer to who he really was
people didn’t like him then either
no one would high five him in the hallways or think about him with fondness
no body would talk about him the way he was sure they would talk about chad
and he hates to admit it but he’s jealous of it
that everyone loves chad
but he’s living with the guy and he’s supposed to make friends with him
and no matter how much he doesn’t want to see it he sees why people love chad so much
chad shakes his shoulders and makes him laugh
chad offers to buy him lunch and puts his arm around his shoulders while they walk to class
chad calls him cute and when ethan was sick chad made him chicken soup
they live together for six months and he sees Chad sitting on the floor puking into the toilet hungover and still saying please and thank you when Ethan gets him advil and water
he’s jealous of chad for how much love he gets but he loves him just as much as everyone else does
he hates him too though
not when he’s flirting with girls or talking about football or whatever bullshit
he hates him the most when he’s sitting next to Mindy
and their both smiling and laughing at each other
and Sam and Tara are across from them just as happy
looking like a family
ethan sees chad in those moments and he hates him
he hates seeing chad laughing eating dinner with his family
when ethan won’t ever have that again
