On the one hand, “S’Fall” gave us BEAUTIFUL PHINBELLA FALL VIBES. Those vibes are the best.

On the OTHER hand, “S’Winter” is an absolute classic, a bop, by far the more memorable and catchy song. It’s also a classic Phineas and Ferb song that more than lives up to that status! Soooo I’lll have to go with “S’Winter.”

(I also sang the lead vocal AND vocal directed M.W.C.A.’s cover of “S’Winter” so maybe I’m a tad biased😝)

Nothing from the 90s to report today, but plenty of interesting events from the mid 2000s onward.

The Fire Nation invades the Northern Water Tribe in 2005. It’s a great season finale, but that’s not a surprise for A:TLA.

Ben’s hypnotised into stealing from a mall at night in 2006. Cartoon Network with the sleepwalking plots recently.

The final five of Total Drama’s first season get stranded in an unfamiliar area in 2007. Yes, I said final five.

Lastly, Phineas and Ferb put on a holiday special in 2011, followed by a rerun of S’winter.

This is another quality over quantity day, which I always look forward to.

Hey, Funky! Sorry this took so long! Love you too and I hope you’ve had a great week :D 

“It’s cold,” Tony declares, squeezing himself underneath Bucky’s outstretched arms to sit on his lap, bringing his knees up to his chest. He’ll never get tired of the way Bucky’s body feels against his, warm and solid and safe. (He’ll never stop thinking of how lucky he is to be with him.) 

As if on automatic, Bucky rests his chin on the top of Tony’s head. “I mean--” his gaze rakes over Tony’s body, raising an eyebrow-- “you’re wearing a tanktop and shorts. S’winter.” 

“It’s cold,” Tony repeats, shivering to make his damn point. He reads a few lines of the book that Bucky’s reading, and with a slow blink, says, “Are you reading On Basilisk Station?” 

“The fact that you were able t’recognize the book based off just a few lines...” 

Tony holds his hands up in mock surrender. “It’s a classic. It’d be a crime for me not to recognize it.” He brings his hands back down, resting them on his biceps, and he curls up a bit tighter to conserve body heat and maybe appear a bit smaller and colder than what he’s really feeling (because Bucky needed to cuddle him, like... yesterday, and he’s not above a little bit of guilt-tripping). “You should try Starship Troopers next.” 

Bucky sighs, and Tony can feel him shake his head. “I’ve got a copy, but Steve’s been hoggin’ that book for the past 4 months. He keeps tellin’ me he’ll finish soon. I don’t believe him.” 

“I’ll buy you another copy,” Tony offers. 

“You buy me enough stuff as it is,” Bucky says, chiding Tony mildly. “No. That’d be another thing for me t’repay.” 

“You can repay me in cuddles. I’m cold.” 

Bucky laughs, soft. “So you’ve said.” 

“So?” Tony ducks his head out from under Bucky’s chin and looks up at him with the saddest pout he can muster. “Cuddle me.” 

“Yeah, yeah.” Bucky closes his book and places down besides him, wrapping his arms around Tony’s body and pressing him closer. “I’ll keep you warm.”

If I get more interactions between Vanessa and Candace, I think I’ll really like them as a ship. Though, I didn’t expect them to just casually meet at the... s’winter wonder event.

They have the same vibe of “mom won’t believe us about the evil schemes of brothers/father!” and if that’s not a great foundation for a beautiful relationship, what else is. I mean they literally had a duet about this.

What I’m saying is: The theory of Heinz being Candace’s father just died in the favor of cartoon wlw.

Phineas and Ferb, S1E3: The Magnificent Few/S’Winter

Hello, and welcome to the Watchathon, a blog where I watch an episode of TV every weekday, with a blog post where I write down my thoughts afterwards.

And now, here’s my thoughts on Season 1, Episode 3 of Phineas and Ferb: The Magnificent Few/S’winter!

The Magnificent Few

This is the debut of Vanessa, and she’s introduced as Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s assistant rather than his daughter. The reveal that she is his daughter is actually played for laughs, being a humorous twist that she was actually there for Take Your Daughter To Work Day.

Another thing which feels weird in retrospect when you’re looking back on the series like I am now. I would imagine when this episode first came out, people were expecting a dynamic similar to Drakken and Shego from Kim Possible. Partners in crime who both work together to take down our hero.

Instead, what we would end up getting is a father involving his daughter in his work, even though she doesn’t really care, which later develops into a very wholesome father-daughter bond. But I am getting ahead of myself, aren’t I?

S’Winter

First thing that stuck out to me: This is in July?! We’re there already?! I guess we can chalk it up partially to continuity being fluid, partially to a difference between production order and broadcast, and partially to how they did not expect to have four seasons and two movies, but still. That line hit me like a truck… 

Moving on, we see the first interaction between Candace and Vanessa. It’s only a couple lines, but it is the first ever time that these two characters met.

All in all, I’d say that this is a pretty fun time. I would say a fun winter episode, but for whatever reason I’m not really certain I should be calling it that. Maybe it’s the amount of references to it being summer, maybe it’s just my preference for their later wintertime specials… Whatever the case, that’s not a mark against the episode. It was still incredibly enjoyable, and I’d still be all too willing to rewatch it, whatever time of year it is.

Candessa AU Seasons 1 and 2

If a Candace-Vanessa romance played out in the show, I think it would go something like this.

Season 1

Starts out the same. Candace crushes on Jeremy and is afraid to talk him while Vanessa doesn’t see eye to eye with her dad. They meet on the mountain of S’winter and gripe about their problems briefly, but neither of them give this chance encounter much thought until later. 

In Dude We’re Gettin’ the Band Back Together, Vanessa gets together with Johnny. 

Candace is terrified of the little hellion Suzy Johnson, but this time she manages to bring it up with Jeremy. But Jeremy doesn’t believe her, and she finds out that only Buford knows how evil Suzy is. Candace begins to stop putting Jeremy on a pedestal after this, though her crush still persists. 

The outfit switch occurs and when Vanessa and Candace meet in the dry cleaners, they complain to each other about their outfits. 

“I don’t want to be dressed like a candy cane.” 

“Candy cane?” What about me? I look like black licorice with orange hair!” 

Season 2

Candace and Vanessa fight over the Mary McGuffin doll, and Vanessa explains why she wants it so badly. Candace decides to let Vanessa keep the doll, and they finally become friends. Meanwhile, Ferb plays the saxophone and Phineas keeps up narration, and Candace has to awkwardly explain that her brothers just felt like doing a film noir mystery. Vanessa takes it in stride since her dad does old-school villain monologues and sings like he’s on Broadway. They exchange phone numbers. 

Candace and Jeremy have their date in Chez Platypus, though Candace can’t help but wonder what Vanessa would think of a platypus themed restaurant. 

Candace learns that Vanessa tried to bust her dad for doing evil, but was unsuccessful. Candace decides that Vanessa could use a crash course in busting. However, Vanessa has given up busting since she realized her dad wasn’t exactly evil no matter how much he claimed to be. Candace tries to bust Heinz, but with predictable results. Perry watches the scene unfold from a safe distance and is told that OWCA is concerned about the budding friendship between the two girls. 

Vanessa has trouble maintaining a relationship with Johnny since he’s often preoccupied by video games.

Candace and Vanessa compete for the pizzazium infinionite and Candace discovers that Ferb has a crush on Vanessa too (though in this AU Ferb’s crush is just one of those crushes kids have that fades with time). The pizzazium gets to Heinz, but he’s arrested for shoplifting courtesy of Perry. Vanessa lets Candace keep the pizzazium and it’s proudly displayed in Candace’s room. 

In Summer Belongs to You, Candace and Vanessa have a window shopping date in Paris. Vanessa claims that the scooter was rented, but Candace has her suspicions. Perry and Heinz make a truce and ditch Monogram so he doesn’t ruin their kids’ good time. Vanessa and Heinz apologize to each other, and Vanessa asks if she could go to Danville with Candace and the rest of her friends. Vanessa promises to do something with him later, and Heinz lets her go. Candace lets her crush on Jeremy go, and during the party at the Flynn-Fletcher house, Candace and Vanessa get caught up in the moment and kiss for the first time. 

Vanessa officially breaks up with Johnny. 

Candace worries because Vanessa invited her to a junkyard rave and she doesn’t know anything about punk culture. Candace tries too hard to act like a punk, which backfires until Heinz makes a surprise appearance as DJ. Candace feels really bad since their appearances were sure to ruin Vanessa’s social life, but Heinz manages to turn it around with his DJ skills (and secret help from Perry).
