rewatching RWBY Vol 1 is really funny

in ep1 Ozpin calls Crescent Rose "one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed"

and then in the next episode we learned that Ruby was the one who designed it 😭😭😭

I wanted to post the announcement on here too, but I'm very excited to announce Ever After Hours, a RWBY Rewatch podcast where I and several other artists/writers/composers/content creators/fans of the fndm will get together and have a super lax, chill review of the show from start to finish! Big emphasis on comedy, hang out vibes, and lifting up the show and it's community without coming down too hard on the flaws. (at least keeping it light)

Okay, but these fight scenes in volume 1 didn't have to go so hard. I remember watching this for the first time and being so hyped

Rwby volume 1 adjustments I'd make after finally rewatching again it for the first time in years:

Remove the white fang/faunus racism. But we keep the idea of people loyal to Adam working with torchwick (the end of season 1 woe is me Weiss monolog makes me roll my eyes when we remember her family's company brands people and traps them into slavery. I hate the racism plot so much.)

Pyrrha leading team JNPR. Story wise it just doesn't make much sense for Jaune to be a leader when he's got no battle knowledge. I'd love to see him learning from Pyrrha and the idea of team JNPR losing their leader at the end of season 3. It would make season 4 where they try to figure out how to work without her guidance all the more painful

Pyrrha being secretly very full of herself and shady in subtle character moments. I simply want my girl to be more questionable and layered. ( Her being very forthright that she thinks jaune needs training and not beating around the bush.)

Yang flirting with Blake from the beginning and Sun getting a sibling bond with Blake. The Blake and sun romance leads nowhere so I'd love for him to be part of the reason she starts changing for the better in a non romantic way.

Blake being a double agent for Adam and his people. (This being connected to the idea that she hasn't broken free from him yet and is working to help the antagonists bring down the school. )

I kind of wish we had sparing outfits the kids got. Similar to something like PE outfits. (This would be completely unlikely as I know they had a budget to work with, but still the idea of them having uniforms for it is a nice concept.)

Get rid of the "Jaune snuck into beacon" plotline because it doesn't really lead anywhere later and while jaune gets a bit of development the episodes with Cardin are the weakest in season 1 and could be replaced with a better Jaune plotline.

No one finds out about Pyrrha's semblance because she is very careful with it.

Blake and Weiss argue because Weiss becomes suspicious of Blake always disappearing instead of Weiss being racist. The end of the season involves Blake "proving her loyalty" to Weiss leading to more heartbreak when her being a double agent is revealed in volume 3. And making for an interesting dynamic when they reunite.

Anyone interested in doing a community Rewatch of Ruby? Like we watch every episode from V1E1 (probably the R W B and Y trailers as well?) and just… talk about them, both as a community and a fandom? Idk how to even get it set up, but I feel like it’s a pretty low effort way to promote the series, especially if we’re using official channels to do so. Might help with the whole Volume 10 process.

at the end of everything i think part of ruby’s future would be her find other silver eyed people and teaching them to use their abilities, even if they don’t want to necessarily be a hunter, since it would allow them to protect their loved ones
