A few random thoughts about werewolves
I dunno why it's called the "curse" of lycanthropy getting to turn into a sexy wolf sounds more like a blessing
If the setting's werewolves only transform at night then I think the werewolves should look a bit more tired and eepy
Everyone always makes posts about having a werewolf bf but what if I want to *be* the werewolf bf?
God I wish I was a werewolf they're so cool

The Grey and the Dark Legacy Challenge
A six generation legacy challenge dedicated to morally grey and villainous sims.
Required packs: Get to Work, Island Living, Journey to Batuu, Strangerville, Werewolves, Vampires, Paranormal
Getting started: Aging can be set to whatever you prefer, including being turned off entirely. Gen 1 can be created alone, or with a spouse, sibling, parents, etc., and can be of any age. The listed aspiration does not have to be picked as the sim's first one; they just need to work on (and ideally complete) it at some point in their lives. This challenge is meant to be flexible and guide storytelling, not to be intentionally difficult, so feel free to make changes to the rules where you need to.
Currently play-testing. As I do, I may make some changes.
Tumblr media
Generation 1: For Peace
The more you’ve learned about the world, the better you understand just how vulnerable the planet of Earth really is. You’re devoted to protecting the human race from the wilds of space, to ensure peace and security. Some might not agree with your methods, but you know that the ends justify the means.
Career: Military (Covert Operator Branch)
Aspiration: Enforcer of Order
Traits: Gloomy, Paranoid, Neat
Goals:
Max career and aspiration
Defeat the Mother Plant
Tumblr media
Generation 2: For Chaos
As a child, you suffocated under the strict discipline of your parent. You want to be free of their self-righteous hypocrisy and embrace your flaws to the greatest extreme.
Career: Criminal (Boss)
Aspiration: Public Enemy
Traits: Evil, Hot-Headed, Slob
Goals:
Max the career and aspiration
Contract werebies and become a werewolf
Turn 5 Sims into werewolves
Have at least one non-werewolf child (this must be your heir).
Tumblr media
Generation 3: For the Unnatural
You grew up in a household that was brutal, crude, and utterly boring. The only interesting people were the faceless whispers you heard in the trees, and the songs of sirens who drowned their lovers in the sea. You’re a romantic who yearns to fall deeper into the nether realm, and your favorite love story has always been a tragic one.
Career: Freelancer (Paranormal Investigator)
Aspiration: Villainous Valentine
Traits: Romantic, Loves Outdoors, Child of the Ocean
Goals:
Become a mermaid
Max aspiration
Max the charisma skill
Max the medium skill
Perform the Siren’s Call on at least one sim
Tumblr media
Generation 4: For the Unknown
You never quite had the talent to invoke the nether realm the way your parent did. You found your solace in technology and science, but there’s a part of you that will always be drawn back to the supernatural.
Career: Criminal (Oracle)
Aspiration: Chief of Mischief
Traits: Mean, Creative, Geek
Goals:
Max career & aspiration
Max the logic skill
Have an observatory and complete the space prints collection.
Be abducted by aliens.
Tumblr media
Generation 5: For Opportunity
You grew up with your parent’s fascination for the stars, but when you finally make your way into the larger galaxy, you find things aren’t really much different than they are on Earth. Money and greed still make the worlds go round, and though you’re disillusioned, you find yourself adapting quite well to this new truth.
Career: Astronaut (Interstellar Smuggler)
Aspiration: Galactic Privateer
Traits: Kleptomaniac, Self-Assured, Outgoing
Goals:
Max career & aspiration
Use the Listening Device to blackmail other sims
Have at least one child that is not an occult (this must be your heir)
Tumblr media
Generation 6: For Eternity
As a member of the ever-changing galactic underworld, you watched your parent so often barely escape with their life, and the fragile nature of mortality became something you despise. You may have been raised with all the “right” connections, but you have greater ambitions than to just stay in the game. You want to build something that lasts, to be something that lasts for centuries.
Career: Secret Agent (Villain)
Aspiration: Mansion Baron
Traits: Materialistic, Loner, Ambitious
Goals:
Max career & aspiration
Become a vampire
Reach the rank of Grand Master Vampire

hello! i've been sent here to ask about werewolf hunters, which i'm hoping will hurt me so good
I know who sent you, anon. XD So I'm not even gonna pretend I have no clue what's going on.
Let me take the obligatory deep breath for a scream about how OUaT introduced an actual werewolf hunter in S6. (Okay, yes, it was The Woodcutter, a bounty hunter, who oh so happens to specialize in werewolves. HALLO??) And then, I guess because of scheduling conflicts, had to swap Red for Blue by Snow's side. And I was, no, we were all robbed of that image of Red fighting somebody who would have not just taken the bounty on Snow's head, but gladly taken her hide. What a waste... Heartless is a fun episode, I even like how Snow and Charming accidentally meet without knowing and then end up with this extra fun sleeping curse...
Anyway, yes, well werewolf hunters. Totally a thing that does canonically excist in the EF. Back in Red-Handed Granny just said that a hunting party killed Anita. Which we know was a lie anyway, but makes you wonder how many specialists might be running around. Something OUaT loves are cliches, which I think is very fine. You want some familiarity, so subverting packs a punch. And what could be more cliche than to have one possible story in your head where Red's father is a werewolf hunter? Make him the Romeo to Anita's Juliet. Make it terrible and tragic. Make that a reason why Anita hates humans even more. Because the one dude she fell for was born into a family of hunters, who kill her kind. With righteousness and thinking they are saving lives, not destroying them.
Think about this image of a young Anita falling in love with a raggedy handsome boy. And they just don't know. The father yes, I have named him Roger in the one WIP in my docs running with this concept, ssshhhh is on his own for a bit, away from the family, as is tradition. To learn about the world, witness beauty (he has to protect) and cruelty (he is fighting against).
It's time to ask more about werewolf lore. Is there a difference between made-wolves (Granny) vs born ones (Red)? Does the wolfness fade for everybody? Why would Granny think Red might not have it (possible difference: a human father, unlike Anita)? Tell me more about silver to use against wolves. Did Anita have more extended family? What happened to Granny's husband? (Also omg Granny deserved an ep of her own to untangle that mess how she ended up marrying the guy who killed her brothers... dark much?!)
With the last, make the death of Anita's father hurt. Bring in those hunters. Show me how Granny took Red from Anita and managed to vanish. Leave Anita brokenhearted, bitter, filled with rage. And show me Red's father being a werewolf hunter with some regret and questions, but also consumed by anger in the end. MAKE IT TRAGIC! Show me how a wolf loving a human ends in tragedy and is no option. There's a reason it's funny that Dorothy points her crossbow at Ruby first thing, yesyes. She likes to hunt, too.
Look - werewolf hunters = POSSIBILITIES! Not all huntsman like wolves the way Graham did. A minute of silence for the man, please.

Hello…! I came across some of your posts on Urban Fantasy Vampire- Werewolf stuff (such a fun idea!) and I was interested. So anyways I have to ask, what are your rules for how they work? I tried finding them myself but I couldn’t find much specifically. Could you help me out here please?
Oh dear, rules... I write vampires and werewolves so much and I write them so often that I don't really have one set of worldbuilding rules for them. One of the fun things is to re-imagine them to suit their particular story! There is so much folklore and fantasy history to draw from you can write both werewolves and vampires with incredible variety and they'll still feel recognizable!
But if I look at all my writing the most reoccurring elements are probably:
My vampires usually...
Don't have to kill the people they feed from. (Because it's sad and impractical.)
Can also feed on animals, but it makes them a little weaker and it probably doesn't taste as good.
Get very overwhelmed drinking from certain humans, other vampires, or people like werewolves, because the blood tastes different or there is something Special about it that makes them drunk, clingy or whatever I like them to be :)
Can share some of their magical healing with humans by feeding them their own blood. (Because it makes everything much, much easier.)
Are severely damaged or outright killed by (direct) sunlight, because they can't be too powerful, but don't automatically go completely unconscious during the day.
Are vampires because they were intentionally turned by another vampire, not because they died in a certain way or were only bitten.
Are not harmed by religious symbols, simply because I'm not very comfortable writing about religious faith.
My werewolves usually...
Can't transform at will, but do not only transform during the full moon. Meaning they either get toothier and hairier the closer it gets to full moon, or it's very tied to their emotions and they get sharp teeth or change eye colour when they lose their cool or act on instinct.
Sometimes struggle with being a werewolf but don't hate being a werewolf and don't turn into uncontrolled monsters when they turn. (That's a great narrative element if you write tragedy or darker fiction, but that's not my jam.)
Can be very dangerous, but generally don't kill people and are more likely to eat a lot of rare steak before the full moon than to hunt living animals once transformed.
Are physically complete wolves as long as the full moon is in the night's sky. (Doesn't matter if the moon is behind the clouds.) They might keep their full human reasoning and be able to do things a normal wold never could, but they do not walk on their hind legs, don't use their paws as hands and cannot talk.
Are harmed specifically by silver, but are not invincible to everything else, even though they are very strong, have a high pain threshold and heal quickly.
Are werewolves because they were born that way, not because they were bitten. (Cause that's sad. And I prefer having big happy werewolf families.)

In the interests of posting things to this blog, here is a crappy phone photo of werewolves from my shapeshifter headworld.
Werewolves are not wolves, nor even canid. Their body plan more closely resembles a cat's, and their limbs are made for grappling rather than long-distance trotting.
In this headworld, werewolves are heavy hitters. Their power is tied to the moon-- during the week of the full moon, they cannot transform at all and are basically vanilla human*. Outside of that, they can transform whenever they'd like, but they must transform at night during the week of the full moon. During that period they are at full power and have a really monstrous healing ability; if you are trying to kill a werewolf during the full moon you had better kill it on the first blow, because anything less than that will just piss it off. They have to fuel that healing ability, so they are ravenously hungry.
Responsible werewolves make sure they have a comfy place to hang out and a fuckton of food available, and can spend the full moon week having a nice time in furry form. There are, of course, werewolves who use the transformation as an excuse to engage in bad behavior; they are in the minority, but unfortunately they are the ones who stay in the public consciousness.
---
*Human or any of the other similar sapient species that the curse works on.
