My housemate gave me a pair of like suede half boots with heels and they fit me well so I wore them yesterday, and remembered how good it feels to be tall. It feels so good. In those shoes I'm like 5'10" which is delightful, but not like abnormally tall, so I didn't get any unwanted attention. Perfect.
And, and, And, I went out in like these shoes with rainbow laces and earmuffs and a baggy jacket and with zero effort, the craft store person used they/them for me, presumably out of slight confusion or politeness toward a visibly queer person, which was amazing.
First time in public someone has used any pronoun since I started T and it was the right one! While in heels! Wow.
Also I had my cane, which I thought would get me judged like "what are you doing in unstable shoes using a mobility aid, if you really need that then you should wear more practical shoes" but I got absolutely no weird looks (a couple for wearing earmuffs in a best buy, and the usual glances at my cane, but hey) and a compliment on the shoes.
Also, they're quite stable, and the laces go past my ankle so there's some ankle support, it's great. I was out walking around and driving for about 4 hours, and my calves aren't sore! My feet hurt a bit at the end of the day, but they're fine now!
The shoe style is a bit more feminine than I would prefer, but overall I love them.
