Painted for the 25th anniversary of The league of gentlemen (TV show - BBC)

Dates - 10th, 11th, & 12th Jan 2024

I was 11 when TLOG first aired and my ditzy (but lovable) mother (RIP) said I was allowed to watch it because it was on the BBC.

I'm glad she did though because it is genuinely a very beloved show of mine. It's like a comfort food you never get bored of.

S3 is probably my favourite series but every episode of every series makes me feel warm and fuzzy still. There is something so very appealing and attractive about the darkness for me... It's made me who I am today

(Psychoville and Inside number 9 are also faves)

A4 - currently on my kitchen wall but it'll make it's way to the others....

It's not the best but it's also definitely not my worst painting ever

7/4/24 edit - I've put gold paint around the outside now. You can see this in other pictures on this blog - I was considering gold leaf but the last time I used gold leaf I wanted to stab myself so not happening)

League of Gentlemen Hot Takes/Opinions

I love making these, so you get another one! This time, it's a TLOG post full of my personal opinions

Ollie Plimsolls is one of the most cleverly written characters in TLOG, a fantastic satire of self‐righteous people that fuel their saviour complex while holding prejudice themselves

The debt collectors were underused, especially the dynamics between Barry-Lisgoe and Barry-Glenn; hell, even Lisgoe-Glenn was unexplored. Apparently they were meant to be in season 1, I'd have loved to see where The Gents would've gone with their characters and dynamics

Speaking of Lisgoe, WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT TO GIVE HIM SHORTS IN THE LIVE SHOW?! The jacket looked so cool, why did they pair it was shorts and tights!? He looked badass in the series and the live show jacket is awesome, who thought "y'know what would make this better? Stupid little 3/4 length shorts!" Terrible

Voodoo Lady is unironically a good song and I truly think Creme Brulee would've been pretty successful in real life

Pauline x Mickey will always have my heart I'm sorry the progression of their relationship was so wholesome

As a lesbian, I must admit Mark, Reece and Jeremy weren't wrong when they said Steve looked dashing as Jed Hunter

Papa Lazarou is a little overrated, he had funny moments but there are better characters in the show

I wish people wouldn't ignore Jeremy Dyson, he wrote TLOG too and his contributions shouldn't get ignored because he wasn't in the show (other than cameos). It's a shame when people edit/talk about the League Of Gentlemen as a group and only mention Reece, Steve and Mark

Season 3 was so clever and I loved how it gave other background characters more screentime... but I did kind of miss Benjamin, though I understand why they didn't include him

I could watch an entire spin-off series about Geoff Tipps and his friends, just them getting up to chaotic antics
