Rhage and Mary rival Wrath and Beth in love and devotion. The way that both immediately saw the struggle in the other, Wrath's hesitancy and fear of himself and Beth's illness, and embraced both as something they would fight through together.
I also appreciated that, even though we got POV from Mr. I, it seemed like less than last time. I love the suspense and action, but I need the romance. 😂
However, I was so drawn in by Zsadist's story, even though it really only came in at the end. I'm so glad that his story with Bella will be next because I would have been tempted to skip ahead in the series. I know they are going to be so good together. Just their short moment together at the party gave me goosebumps. Can't wait to continue with this series.

book review || Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly
video review || Raid My Shelves 6: Reading Vlog — BOTM Books
Right out of the gate, holy crap this was cute and sweet and pure, with a solid helping of spice too.
I fell in love with London and Dahlia, each of their personalities really sprung off the page, their voices were well distinguished, and they had great banter and chemistry. The pacing was solid when it came to their romance, balancing between a whirlwind vacation fling and a serious start to something real, which really impressed me.
With the setting of a cooking show, I knew I’d be hooked by all the food talk and I was! The fun adventures they took and the little moments which occurred between them were tender and sweet, all had me squealing. However, I will say, as far as stakes go, this didn’t quite hold up. Contestants disappeared and I wasn’t sure when or how it happened a lot of the time and when one of our MCs is in danger of being kicked off, the results would be stated in a very anti-climatic way.
The handling of London’s identity was well done. Even when another contestant misgenders them, it isn’t explicitly stated on the page! Their father wasn’t accepting of their identity, which did cause some heart-aching moments, but thankfully, didn’t turn into an angsty, dramatic arc that took away from the main story. The respect given to London as a character was fantastic.
I really liked Dahlia as well. Chaotic, bubbly, high on life, she was just entertaining to read about and was so, so protective of London. She just wants to find new happiness for herself but is terrified of disappointing the people she cares about. The discussion with her mom seemed so healthy and wholesome, particularly after the third act conflict. While that drama did make sense and I could understand where both side were coming from, it did seem a little over the top.
The grand gesture had me swooning. I can’t wait to see more from this author.

You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian
You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian looks at how we can muster up the courage to try again. It’s the reassurance that after a bad spell, there is something that comes after, and although it’s not perfect, it’s something. It’s 1960 in New York City and the reporter Mark Bailey and the baseball player Eddie O’Leary are in the midst of a sting of no good very bad days. Mark has been doing his best to not just haunt the 4th floor of the newspaper building and take his pampered dog for walks in the wake of his partner’s unexpected death. When his boss and close friend ask him to write the weekly diary of a rookie who hasn’t hit a single ball since he got called up from the minors, he reluctantly says yes. The young, kind, and hard-working Eddie defies Mark’s expectations. In doing so, a hit piece about an obnoxious baseball player transforms into the kindest underdog story of Mark’s career. This book is so kind and gentle even as it forcefully drags difficult topics into the light. What does it mean to be gay during a period of gay criminalization? How do you deal with grief for a partner, especially when it’s a partner no one knows about? Is it even possible to try when every time you do you fail? I cannot stress enough that this also manages to be a very fun book. Both characters are incredibly charming and well-constructed with built-out personal and professional lives. I did not care about baseball in New York City in the 1960s but if you offered me a ticket to Eddie’s game, I would drop everything else and go see the Robins with my own hand-written sign. Also, not to spoil anyone but I have never seen a more romantic gesture than having orange juice on hand and buying a bad book at an airport so they can be petty about it together. I cannot wait till Cat Sebastian drops the mini holiday chapter for them. It will be glorious. That is all to say you really should preorder You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian set to release May 7, 2024. I received an arc from Avon books in exchange for an honest review.

🇵🇸 The algorithm is going to keep silencing my posts, but they're not going to silence me. I grew up with little to no books that made me feel seen as a queer/bisexual Palestinian Arab American. Today, it's still not easy enough to find those books online, even though we have thousands of lists, posts, and directories to guide us. To make your search a little easier, here are a few queer Palestinian books to add to your TBR. Please help me spread this by reblogging. I read, on average, about two books every week in 2023. That’s a lot of books, authors, and series. This post is an incomplete list, but if I were to give a complete one, I would have to list every book I reviewed in 2023.
So, I kept the list of the stuff that first bubbled to the top of my mind when I asked myself to recollect the year. I don’t have these books and authors in any particular order, but they are in categories!
Here’s to Monster Romance’s growth in 2024!

book review || Happy Place by Emily Henry
video review || I'm Not Gonna Apologize -- Anticipated Releases Reading Vlog|| Happy Place & In the Lives of Puppets
Not a new favorite, but definitely not a disappointment either. Emily Henry’s books are always an enjoyable ride!
Let me first say, my favorite part of this book was the friendship group. Harry, Cleo, and Sabrina were totally my way to reminisce about college with my best friends and all the trips we’ve taken together. Henry’s atmosphere work also took me on vacation with them. I loved that they all knew each other so well, that they were there for each other through it all, I even appreciated that the third act conflict in this was really more about their friendship than the romance itself. Friendship was my favorite part of this book.
I felt a bit called out by Harriet’s internal struggles in this, but I also felt comforted by the introspection. I think that’s another strength of Henry’s work. She’s able to take such deeply personal topics and put them into words beautifully, making them into something so many people can relate. Harry struggles so much with her own identity and trying to please everyone around her and damn if that didn’t hit me square in the chest.
Now, the romance. This… wasn’t my favorite. I love second-chance romances and this did manage the balancing act of convincing me their previous breakup was logical, but not so terrible that they can’t get back together. The fake fiancée bit didn’t feel over the top, but there was still plenty of miscommunication to annoy me. I wasn’t throwing the book across the room, but it was enough to irk me.
Apart from that, I just wasn’t completely sold on Wyn. He and Harriet had fantastic banter and there was solid sexual tension any time they were together, but he actually seemed like the flattest character of the group for a lot of this book. I think that got a lot better toward the end when they finally talked out their issues, but it felt a little too late. This, in turn, made it so I wasn’t as absorbed by their romance as I’d like.
I think I liked this more than People We Meet on Vacation, but less than Books Lovers.
