Mei Mei’s Double Awesome Is Getting Some Scallion Pancake Sandwich Friends
Plus, some St. Patrick’s Day and Nowruz celebration options, and more news
Welcome back to AM Intel, a round-up of mini news bites to kick off the day.

Mei Mei (506 Park Dr., Fenway, Boston) has existed in restaurant form for about four and a half years, and its food truck has been on the road longer than that. Now, it’s time for some changes, as two-thirds of the founding sibling trio are no longer involved in day-to-day operations. With Irene Li at the helm, the Mei Mei truck is coming off of Boston and Cambridge’s food truck rotations, although it’ll still be used for private events, and the restaurant’s full-service dinners will revert to counter-service, with a new menu (starting March 20) focusing on vegetables, small plates, and scallion pancake sandwiches. That means that the iconic double awesome scallion pancake sandwich will get some new friends, including a beef and broccoli sandwich and a vegan option as well. (Plus, keep an eye out for the Mei Mei cookbook in early 2019.)

Make your Saturday night plans accordingly: Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, a day on which Boston likes to party pretty hard. If you want to jump into the fray, take a tour of some of the Boston area’s best Irish bars, from Somerville to Dorchester, or try out this Guinness-filled booze crawl through Brighton.
Celebrating Nowruz
The Persian New Year, Nowruz, falls on Tuesday, March 20, and a couple local spots are celebrating on and around the day. Juliet (257 Washington St., Union Square, Somerville) is serving a multi-course Nowruz dinner menu from March 21 to 31, including a monkfish and Persian rice dish, a saffron orange panna cotta, and more; book tickets online. Lala Rokh (97 Mt. Vernon St., Beacon Hill, Boston) is serving traditional Nowruz dishes from March 16 through March 21, and the restaurant is also one of the underwriters of the annual Nowruz event at the Museum of Fine Arts, taking place this Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring art, music, and dance.

Ch-Ch-Changes
Mei Mei (506 Park Dr., Fenway, Boston) has existed in restaurant form for about four and a half years, and its food truck has been on the road longer than that. Now, it’s time for some changes, as two-thirds of the founding sibling trio are no longer involved in day-to-day operations.
