1 Kings 12: 1-5. "Fine Shoulders."
Tumblr media
Israel Rebels Against Rehoboam
12 Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone there to make him king.
2 When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard this (he was still in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), he returned from[a] Egypt.
3 So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and the whole assembly of Israel went to Rehoboam and said to him:
4 “Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
5 Rehoboam answered, “Go away for three days and then come back to me.” So the people went away.
Rehoboam= "All encompassing."
רחב
The verb רחב (rahab) means to be or become large or wide — mostly of territory but also of fame, abilities, courage, trouble and so on.
This verb's derivatives are: the nouns רחב (rahab) and רחב (rohab), width or wideness; adjective רחב (rahab), broad or wide; noun רחוב (rehob), a broad open place or plaza, and noun מרחב (merhab), a broad or roomy place.
עמם
The verb עמם ('mm) probably expressed to be inclusive or comprehensive. Its rare uses in the Bible relate to making secrets or making info available to an in-crowd. Preposition עם ('im) means 'with', מעם (me'im) means 'from', and עמה ('umma) means 'beside'. Noun עם ('am) means a people, ranging from all of mankind to the in-crowd of a small village. Noun עם ('am) refers to one's (paternal) kinsman.
Shechem=
שכם
The important noun שכם (shekem) means shoulder, and one's shoulder was considered the seat of one's burdens, whether physical or metaphorical. Curiously, though, the denominative verb that came from this noun, namely שכם (shakam), does not mean "to shoulder" in the sense of to carry something, but rather to rise early or to make an early start. This seems to suggest that a person's burden was considered a thing of voluntary dedication rather than something forced upon this person.
So the new King has his shoulders dedicated. Some shoulder more than others according to the sages, but the King must shoulder it all:
"…and Kabbalah, and are alluded to by the letters of the word "Pardes" [pei-reish-dalet-sod]. There is not one Jewish soul that does not include all four levels, but there are some souls that can grasp [only] two levels of explanations while others can grasp even more."
Jeroboam. "may the people enlarge" son of Nebat, "behold!" returns from Egypt in one piece, and meets with the Assembly. The Assembly is the body of rules, laws and ultimately, a culture of persons that understand why there must never be any seeds of slavery or idolatry available to germinate and take root in this world.
Even still, and knowing how loose Solomon's reign became in his old age, they ask Rehoboam to take the yoke of this responsibility away. He says he will think about it, and ponders for Three Days, which means "the Crown" in Gematria, and fortunately, he does what is right. He tells the people no. And because they asked, the yoke will be heavier than ever.
The people thought they'd outgrown themselves and behold, they were wrong. The Three Days Rehoboam spent contemplating could have done them some good, too.
As for the most famous Three Days of them all, "On the Third Day He Rose Again" this means, 11-05, יאאֶפֶסה, Japheth: "Critical thinking that yields dry land" which in Torah terms means "free of bloodshed and violence."
Ja= Yah
פתה
The verb פתה (pata) appears to describe the process of slowly but surely growing wider without investing much critical thought in the quality of the substance that is acquired. It's the process that makes a mud flat or sand bank grow bigger, until it even begins to yield dry land and perhaps to support an island ecosystem. In much the same way a human mind will grow, if one does not separate useful from useless information, and eventually yield certainties and perhaps even forms of creativity that are all based on mostly garbage and loose debris.

1 Chronicles 6: 74-76. "The Brace."
Tumblr media
The Territory Towns and Pastures, continued.
In this section, we go even deeper in our journey from the heavens to the community, to leadership to the mind of the studliest Jewish poet, into the soul.
The soul and all souls which are often referred to using terms that describe heat in its various forms are explained here as a fire that needs to be braced by bricks, much in the way eras of human history are broken up into episodes.
The collected experiences contained in the eras show humanity is corrupt. It deliberately acts inept on purpose, it treats the Torah like rubbish and the House is in a dire state.
The Tanakh says this disrespect should cause a state of great agitation, a heat of a different kind, the end result of which is an entirely new age, a new soul that will dwell in the House of Humanity:
74 from the tribe of Asher "Happiness" they received Mashal, Abdon, 75 Hukok and Rehob, together with their pasturelands;
Mashal=
משח
The verb משח (mashah) means to anoint, or even more general: to spread a liquid. In Jeremiah 22:14 the prophet speaks of "painting" a house bright red. In Isaiah 21:5 shield are "oiled". In Exodus 29:2 ritualistic unleavened cakes are "oiled".
It seems that this verb is employed where attention needs to be drawn; it does not simply denote a physical act but much rather a marking, a setting apart. It's no surprise therefore that the most common usage of this verb entails the ritual of "anointing" someone in office, and only the offices that had no earthly superior: the King of Israel (1 Samuel 16:3), a prophet (1 Kings 19:16, Isaiah 61:1) or a High Priest (Exodus 28:41).
Abdon=the expert
Hukok=
חקק
The verb חקק (haqaq) basically means to bring closely near (the way a paraphrase "approaches" an original), but is in practice used to mean to decree or to engrave (since decrees were published by engraving them in stone). That means that God's laws are not means to subdue to but rather means to bring close. To obey someone means to slavishly comply, but to love someone means to generously give. The same difference exists between falling into someone's hands, and falling into someone's arms.
Nouns חק (hoq) and חקה (huqqa) both describe something desired or demanded; statements that express the wishes of an authority, whether a political authority such as a king or government, or an intellectual authority such as a teacher.
Noun חיק (heq) means bosom; the upper torso in which one's breath and voice coincide. Where the belly served as the seat of one's emotions and instincts, the noun חיק (heq) describes a hollow container in which one's conscious intent, one's reason and concerns are stored. Hence the idiom of bringing someone or something into one's bosom.
Rehob=
חב
The verb רחב (rahab) means to be or become large or wide — mostly of territory but also of fame, abilities, courage, trouble and so on.
This verb's derivatives are: the nouns רחב (rahab) and רחב (rohab), width or wideness; adjective רחב (rahab), broad or wide; noun רחוב (rehob), a broad open place or plaza, and noun מרחב (merhab), a broad or roomy place.
76 and from the tribe of Naphtali "Justice" they received Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon and Kiriathaim, together with their pasturelands.
Kedesh in Galilee= "The Sacred Age."
The parallel verb גיל (gil) expresses a circular motion as is mostly associated with expressions of joy and celebration (dance). Nouns גיל (gil) and גילה (gila) mean a rejoicing. Noun גיל (gil) describes a circle or time: an age.
The Gematria for this section comes from Kedesh Galilee, which is 91 and returns the "Brace". see Hammon, next:
Hammon=
חמם
The verb חמם (hamam) means to be hot and is sometimes used to describe mental agitation. Nouns חם (hom) and חמה (hamma) mean heat. Adjective חם (ham) means hot. The noun חמן (hamman) denotes a kind of mysterious small pillar (perhaps a device?).
The verb יחם (yaham) also means to be hot, but mostly in a mental sense: to be exited or angered. The noun חמה (hema) mostly refers to a severe mental "burning": anger or rage.
The verb חמה (hmh) is not used in the Bible, but in cognate languages it means to surround, guard or protect. Perhaps this verb has nothing to do with the previous and only accidentally looks similar, but perhaps it ties into the fact that natural open fires aren't very warm and smelting metals require sophisticated ovens. Noun חם (ham) means father-in-law and its feminine equivalent, חמות (hamot), means mother-in-law — and note that the Trojan theme of the "girl" kept in the city of her forceful lover is very common in classical literature. Noun חומה (homa) describes a protective wall.
Kiriathaim=
קרר
Root קרר (qarar) means to cool off in a thermodynamic sense: to go from hot gas to cool liquid to a cold solid. Socially this would describe warring tribes "cooling off" into culturally compatible peoples and liquid trading networks and ultimately the formation of cities and solid nations. Intellectually, diverse viewpoints might congeal into local conventions and ultimately a global standard.
Adjective קר (qar) means cool. Nouns קר (qor) and קרה (qara) mean cold. Noun מקרה (meqera), meaning coolness.
Noun קיר (qir) is one of a few words for wall. It might relate to the root because bricks are congealed mud, and a wall is bricks pieced together (non-standard bricks take some puzzling and pounding). The noun קרקע (qarqa') means floor; earth trampled into a compact state. The verb קרקר (qarqar) means to forcibly compact, to pound down.
Pouding down is good. But seriously, the Tanakh says we have to pound the fire of the burning finger back into ourselves, cause it to congeal into a standard of Godliness that would put an end to all competition for a share of happiness on this world.

To Extrapolate a Copperplate
Tumblr media
I was grinding the grist in my brain on how to finish up the GODS OF OMAN. Calnoon Atoye Itah, one of the Omans, was still alive and was in hiding someplace because of Rohab's vow to kill him (he was the second Oman of the three). I wanted Pitus to rescue him so that they could leave Earth together at the ending. I had Pitus upload everything aboard Calnoon's ship through an interactive tutelary program that the Omans called the “Game of Fame” into the main computer, mainly to make an instructor to help Pitus repair the Oman ship. He uploaded, among other items, a video showing a youthful Atoye with his Osage friend Kawa, and to his surprise (and a little of my own) the program became self-aware due to the enormous information piled into it.   Since the computer became “alive” from using this “Game of Fame” program, I had discovered the next several moves in my story line. Pitus, upon seeing the hologram of Atoye, recognized him as a young version of someone else he met early on in the story. Where was the real Atoye? This was my next important question. Boston, New York, and Philadelphia first came to mind. After all, He promised Kinar (the third alien) he would wait for him in Boston when they separated in the Prologue. But that was 144 years before. He could now be anywhere on the globe. London, Jerusalem, Paris, Rio de Janeiro; none of these places were good because, I had no plans of any of these cities. None of my atlases had any and the internet wasn't all that good back in the early nineties. Then a couple of days later, perusing a bound copy of The Universal Magazine, I found, in the April 1750 issue, a big wide copperplate of “the South East Prospect of Colchester in the County of Essex”. The scene as you can see, is beautifully detailed. Staring at it like a crystal-gazer, I easily imagined myself down on those meadows, down by the docks, on that bridge over the Coln, under the trees and on the streets of that city. THAT is where Pitus will find Atoye, and, also, Rohab! I wandered, in my mind's eye, all over that city, and on the road to Witham from the Essex County map as a sort of scout, making scenes and scenarios to have my protagonist's showdown with Rohab and find Atoye. It showed me quite literally that a picture can truly be worth a thousand words. Read the full article

Secrets and Stilettos
Tumblr media
Rowena Saloojee aka Secretsandstilettos is a style and beauty blogger based in Johannesburg, South Africa, she’s also a LISOF alumni. I’ve been following her for about 3 years now and love her work, I met Rowena personally over a year ago and she’s just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, sharing her styled lookbooks, latest trends and beauty must haves.
Rowena shares with her followers her weekly outfits.monthly beauty products, and beauty tutorials (which I love) she also loves to share tips and tricks on her Instagram stories which If  I were you I would watch because I definitely have learnt a few tricks. She recently launched a swimwear line with her friend/partner Rohab called ‘Laro Swimwear’ showing us that we can still dress modestly whilst taking a dip in the pool.
In order for us to get to know her a little bit better, I asked her a few questions and this is what she responded with:
1.    Introduce yourself to Us
A.   I’m Rowena Saloojee, fashion and beauty blogger behind Secrets and Stilettos.
2.    What does fashion mean to you?
A.   Fashion has always been a part of my life. I was lucky to have a very stylish, fashion conscious mom who always let me express my creativity without question. I used to “make” my own clothing when I was younger, if I saw something in an international magazine and it wasn’t yet available in stores, I would buy something similar and alter it to how I like. Before skinny jeans were in fashion, I made my own!
3.    How would you describe your blogging style?
A.   I love dressing in easily accessible, classic style clothing that anyone can wear. I embrace trends and try show ways to make it your own.
4.    What, according to you, is your favourite part of being a fashion blogger?
A.   Surprisingly, I love the writing element of blogging. I love being able to have my own platform where I can say what I feel. I hate seeing “famous” blogs with beautiful imagery but have poor grammar or are littered with swear words.
5.    Describe how did you first get into blogging?
A.   I actually started off with a Facebook page and a BBM group. I would research what celebrities are wearing and find where you can get it locally and do a post on my Facebook page and groups. I had a tripod and a camera and would take outfit pictures on my parents’ open roof. Gossip Girl was also really big that time, so a lot of my outfits were inspired by Serena and Blair. When I attended LISOF, it was required to start a Wordpress blog as part of a Media assignment. It was one of the first time’s ever I got 100% in an assignment. That motivated me to stick with my blog.
6.    How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?
A.   I’m the co-owner of a swimwear line, LARO Swimwear, so that takes up most of my time as it’s my full time job. Blogposts are usually written at night and photos are taken over the weekend, or if I’m out with friends I ask them to take pictures. It helps to know your angles and be able to judge a good background (it comes with time and experience) so it doesn’t take more than a few minutes. It can be tiring but is truly a labour of love!
7.    Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
A.   Locally, I’m very inspired by Aisha Baker of Baked the Blog. I love her work ethic and how open and honest she is.
Internationally, I love Lydia Elise Millen. She’s poised, classy, and her style is very similar to me. She’s one of the only bloggers that I actually trust and will buy what she recommends.
8.    Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?
A.   Hopefully grown to my maximum potential, and hopefully be able to add “travel blogger” to my bio! I hope that I’ll one day be an ambassador for a big beauty brand, and attend international fashion weeks because people respect my opinion. I want to grow organically, and never use a “quick fix” like buying followers on Integra for recognition.
9.    Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?
A.   1. Brett Robson. She’s always at the forefront of fashion locally.
2. Song of Style, I love how she dresses and her goofy personality!
3. Caroline Daur, because she is insanely beautiful and her Integra is #travelgoals
10. What are a few fun facts about you?
A.   • I’m actually an extreme introvert, which is very unusual for a fashion blogger! Blogger events give me anxiety, and if I could skip them altogether, I would.
• I wanted to be an Occupational Therapist, got accepted, and decided to go to LISOF instead. I don’t regret it!
I hope you guys liked this interview and got to know her better like I did, make sure to check out her blog (www.secretsandstilettos.com) and give her a follow on instagram: @secretsandstilettos.
Until next time loves,
The Minimalist xx
