The Scar and Pearl dynamic is actually so important to me btw. They’ve been here before, they have been here before and they refuse to let it happen the way it did again, they refuse a mirrored repeat of their pain and carve themselves a different ending
they left the tower, they left the desert, they both taste blood and flowers and neither of them are tangled up with another soul this time to determine their fates and they succeed

How do you feel about the different mental ages of robors
I find it fascinating that each robot has a different mental age despite being just that— a robot.
If you look at it from a broader view, it can actually help fight AGAINST my point of sentient being a physical thing, because the way I view it I like to imagine that their mental age was already decided before sentience, and this just brought it out. Sort of like a predetermined destiny.
However another compelling argument is that the mental age is gained because of the situations they are put into after sentience. And then there are some robots who appear to almost regress in age at some points, depending on the situation. One of my favorite examples of this is the Vivid spybot, who acts like a teenager but will seemingly regress to another age when faced with a difficult or stressful situation if that makes any sense? The utter variety of these guys’ mental maturities are interesting to me, like Otto seems to mentally be somewhere between 13-16?? And Proto is much younger, and then Artificial Medic appears to be somewhere upwards of adulthood.
Sylvester and Esmé are the hardest to place for me and I do not understand why. I could not even give you an age estimate as of now, maybe I am just tired
I am not going to count this as a theory, as it is just a viewpoint without adding any other speculations.

Of all my talk of robot concepts I forgot if I ever went in depth about my love for the idea of robots with religious/spiritual imagery attachment to them, or more specifically the concept of a robot meditating.
In general I have a bit of a meditation bias-despite not doing it enough even though I should since mental health benefits-I really like it in concepts of characters finding their peace and balance but I feel like it’s a untouched area when it comes to robots. While robots experiencing painful emotions humans face is strong characterization of them being human, I feel it be interesting to look at them in the light of them gaining their own inner peace. To try to learn to even out and control their emotions instead of their programs being override by one or them lacking any at all. They get to experience a true feeling of calm, and not just being “emotionless”. And also, what their meditation feels like in comparison to humans. If they mimic human techniques even if it raises questions of “do robots breathe?” or have to do it in some other fashion to truly achieve an empty mind. If they manage to fully mimic human meditation, what does that raise for humanity and robots blurring on a mental level? And if they do it in their own way, is it just data being flushed out? Like a computer removing unnecessary programs or closing all its tabs but still running?
I rotate this so much and I’m going to continually rotate it probably lol.

So anyway by terminating the contract between Sony and Nintendo to create the SNES CD addon "Playstation" Nintendo accidentally created what would become their biggest challenger of the next console generation. People remember the N64 very fondly and for very good reason but the reality of the console was that it only ever got under 300 game releases and never sold very well due to a lot of poor decisions by Nintendo including the choice to use inferior cartridges instead of discs to keep the price point and load times low. The N64 was a very capable system but the fact of the matter was that you just couldn't fit much onto cart when compared to a disc and third party developers knew this. This let to Sony essentially poaching most of the big 3rd party releases for that generation. Prime example: Final Fantasy 7 which just could not have fit/ran on the N64. Sony also had a very open door policy about who was able to approach them and pitch games to be published on their platform. But perhaps the greatest decision of that generation (at least in the realm of picking up dev studios) was their contracting of Insomniac Games to create a competitor for Mario 64 on the PlayStation. This ended up being Spyro the Dragon and not only did the game sell phenomenally well it went over SO well that it got TWO sequels within TWO years of it coming out. Now while that's insane and no dev team should ever have to do that Insomniac was responsible for some very cool achievements that led to other games on the PlayStation existing at all. One such case was that they happened to share an office space with Naughty Dog at the time they were developing Crash Bandicoot and ended up sharing some of the techniques and technology they came up with to make Spyro look so good. This ended up directly encouraging Naughty Dog to use the tech in Crash which led to it probably being one of the best looking PS1 games of it's time. Thank you for coming to my talk please don't tug at the restraints I don't have any replacements. Next we're going to go over how the Neo Geo pocket color is one of the most underappreciated and tragic handhelds of all time and-

I still cannot seem to find much meaning in my life. It’s like I’m just floating from thing to thing not really caring. The rest is just running away. But like, whatever? So apathetic to it all at this point lol.

FNAF SPOILERS! SCROLL! TALKING ABOUT THE SPRINGLOCK SCENE!
i’ve seen so many people discussing the springlock scene in both negative and positive ways and i think it brings up really cool points about how matthew played that scene and balanced fan expectations with his own characterisation.
i think the discussions around this movie have rlly exposed the disconnect between fanon and canon in fnaf, especially talking abt the core games in isolation, bc frankly in the game universe (ignoring the books) we get Very Little characterisation for William other than the obvious, but Matthew managed to add so much in the way he talks and his body language.
in the reveal scene, we see afton at arguably his peak. in his first scene, he comes off as somewhat demeaning and judgemental until he recognises mike’s name, at which point he seems to have this nervous energy, rushing to cover it up but stumbling slightly, his reaction to the tables being turned even slightly is massive.
this is a man who committed multiple mrdrs in essentially broad daylight, hid the bodies in the most obvious place, and still got away with it, and then kept the crime scene as a trophy of his actions, and an ongoing prison sentence for his victims. he has been in complete control for decades, and is confident that he can deal with any kind of threat quickly. his confidence in his reveal is palpable
it changes when vanessa shoots him. the whole parallel with vanessa and the animatronics is hugely interesting too- how william refers to the animatronics almost endearingly as “kids” when he wants them to obey, how both vanny and the animatronics have an unearned loyalty to him, almost a pseudo-adoption through what he did to them, taking them from their parents and keeping them under his thumb, forever stuck as naive, forgiving, obedient children. vanessa breaking from that control shakes him, but the mask slips back into place almost immediately.
then, he’s outsmarted by the brother of one of his victims, and the child he planned to end next. his pseudo-children turn on him and he can no longer manipulate his appearance or shed his skin to escape. he explodes on them, and his language is incredibly telling that he is being dishonest.
he calls them small, trying to belittle them into submission, even though they are ten feet tall metal animatronics powered by rage. he is grasping at straws to regain control, and failing miserably.
finally, the springlocks go off. the locks in the movie look more like a ribcage, so the first two likely puncture his lungs. they’re slow, and painful, but he doesn’t scream or beg or sob. he grunts and groans, gritting his teeth and only letting out sounds of pain that sound almost involuntary. there is no way in hell he would visibly let himself show weakness or pain in front of these creatures that he believes he has control over. he isn’t brought to his knees until there are eight metal spikes embedded in his abdomen. he doesn’t let the mask fall for even a second, until he literally PUTS THE ACTUAL MASK ON and finally collapses. even then, he’s fighting for consciousness, twitching and writhing with no control over his body. william afton thrives on control, and his soul will not rest until he gets it back.
it’s why he keeps the pizzeria- he always comes back. he can’t help but return to the scene of the crime, putting on his old costume, continuing his killings. he revels in being a constant threat on the horizon. and now, he knows he is going to die, and he knows the suit will bring him back, and noone will be able to get rid of him then. so he puts the mask back on, and waits.
in terms of the sfx- they’re pretty accurate. with stab wounds, you need to leave the knife in the wound as long as possible for best chance of survival, as it stops the blood from escaping. in terms of the springlocks, there wouldn’t be copious amounts of blood as the locks are keeping the wounds filled- which is good because it means a slower, more painful death.

I saw in his hand a long spear of gold, and at the iron's point there seemed to be a little fire. He appeared to me to be thrusting it at times into my heart, and to pierce my very entrails; when he drew it out, he seemed to draw them out also, and to leave me all on fire with a great love of God.
