BREAKING NEWS: Local Buddhist temple, Buddhist Institute of Universal Compassion Foundation robbed of cash and gold.

Malia Ethredge, communications coordinator and media manager at the temple, said the thieves stole around $6,000 in cash and gold from the temple. No statues or relics were taken in the robbery.

The surveillance footage of the alleged robbers can be found on the temple’s Facebook page.

You’re on your back with your head stuck in one of the consoles in the Communications Tower, your fingertips trailing over the wiring as you try to follow it back to the source when someone taps your knee.

“Just a sec.” You mutter as you crimp off the wire and leave dangling it so you can return to it momentarily. You hate being interrupted when you’re in the middle of something, it’s a pain shuffling in and out of these small spaces, once you’re in you like to do the job and get out.

It takes you a minute to get yourself out of the dusty little area and when you do you look at Carmine irate because out of everyone, she should know better than to disturb you.

“It’s Bob,” she says simply, and you know from the expression on her face its bad. “His plane…”

There’s a roaring in your ears and it drowns out everything else. It cuts like a knife right through your chest because he warned you about this, that night on the beach. You just never allowed yourself to believe that it would happen to him.

“They managed to punch out but the Rescue Team’s still searching for them. I thought you’d want to know.”

“Yea.” You say shakily. “Yea thanks.”

You spent the next hour with your head back in that console, one of the radios tuned into the comms going back and forth from the airstrip. There’s nothing you can do, and you know you will drive yourself crazy, sitting around empty handed so you work. You focus on that tricky little problem; this system has been having and you wait.

“Visual on Phoenix and Bob.” A clear voice erupts over the radio. “Both appear in good health, SARS team on route. ETA 3 minutes.”

You head hits metal base of the unit as the relief fills your system.

Bob’s alive and right now that’s all that matters.
