cersei: she is the CRAZIEST mukbanger ever. always has some new drama to talk about and it’s very very interesting so she has millions of subscribers. you know that meme of azealia banks’ internet feuds list? yeah that’s cersei. she’s beefed with everyone on the platform and never makes any apology videos for it. she’s had the channel since before she gave birth to joffrey and it’s still going strong. she sometimes does sponsorships but only for wine companies

tyrion: he is the vsauce of asoiaf youtube. does a lot of videos about scientific theories and experiments that get a lot of views. sometimes has drama with people but it’s not very often. he did a face reveal once he got to 3 mil and people edited picsart flower crowns onto his head and made it their pfp, so his comments are just filled with those. sometimes does his own experiments but they always end up going wrong

margaery: she does a lot of makeup tutorials!! she makes sure to use easily accessible drugstore makeup products so people can follow along. she has a couple million subscribers and is renowned as the most non-toxic makeup youtuber of all time. tried to collab with cersei but cersei didn’t show up. she also used to be a nail tech so she has a master class on that

theon: OMGGG theon is THE internet gossip youtuber ever. he’ll literally be pumping out videos about feuds hours after they started. some call him shady cause of the types of videos he makes but he doesn’t care cause he’s having fun. he also has a twitch gaming streaming channel and he is the Jerma of his universe there. he sucks at the games and does not know anything about gaming consoles or the best mics/cameras etc so he has to get computer science™ major jon to help him

sansa: sansa is a fashion design major in nyc so of COURSE she is posting lifestyle vlogs. she started the whole channel because she was featured in a few of margaery’s videos and people kept asking for her to make her own. but she is also very careful with her privacy cause she’s scared of someone finding her. she also has a second channel where she posts sims 4 videos and it’s super chill and fun over there

arya: arya’s really into self defense so she mostly posts tutorials and videos about that. she’s super super helpful in the comments but will insult people brutally when provoked. her genre isn’t as popular as the others so she has a couple hundred thousand (very loyal) subscribers. she also has a secret second channel that only has around 10k subs and everyone there gatekeeps tf out of it. she posts roblox and fortnite videos with her siblings that are really funny and entertaining. all of the girls in the comments are thirsting for robb 😭

jon: jon doesn’t post very much but when he does post it’s minecraft videos. most of the time sam is in them and sometimes robb will make an appearance but he has no idea what is going on. jon posts minecraft builds and he has his own smp (is that what they call it????) he’ll occasionally post videos about playing choices matter games like detroit become human and until dawn. sometimes ppl go ??? because during his minecraft build videos he traumadumps in the background instead of just putting on music or smth. he doesn’t show his face tho cause he’s afraid of getting made fun of

myrcella and tommen: ok they have a super secret channel that only has around 1,000 subscribers where they post videos of their cat. that’s all. people in the comments are super sweet and myrcella and tommen make an effort to respond to all of them. their videos only get like 230 views each time they post but they don’t really care they’re having fun

renly and loras: they’re posting relationship vlogs and stuff but they don’t have a filter so sometimes they talk about really nsfw stuff and get in trouble for it. they’re mostly known for their travel vlogs but they also do videos about drama in their lives that is literally insane. like once renly casually brought up how his brother almost killed him during a ouija board game and loras is like “mhm mhm” but all of the comments are ???? margaery collabs with them all of the time too

-I think Meera has a twitter and spam instagram where she complains ab her problems and wonders if she’s a lesbian in the captions of cute animal memes (im projecting) and Jojen solely uses his instagram to identify bugs and plants and sometimes rocks. Stannis has like a very professional Facebook page for his business/election campaign or whatever and he has like five followers and sometimes Robert comments under his posts while he’s drunk

3. My thoughts on their design/aesthetic alone

-god I have so many thoughts. Meera is just such a kind looking girl (and Ellie Kendrick made me gay) who dresses like a bog person and throws nets and spears 10/10 no notes I love you swamp wife. Jojen is similar but he’s a sickly swamp boy which makes me sad but it’s an interesting character design I care him. Stannis is soooo fucking good like having his brothers height and strength but none of their charisma and also he’s balding is actually hilarious. Absolute unit of a depressed man

She’s so scared of losing Bran now that she knows she’s gonna lose Jojen she wants to protect everyone and make sure no one’s sacrifice goes to waste it’s such a burden to carry :( plus she has to protect everyone to my babygirl is getting grey hairs. Stannis also eldest daughter syndrome! -Meera and Dany are girlfriends and love each other this is canon to me actually. And Stannis has never had a real friend in his life besides Maester Cressen and Davos but I think he has a grudging respect for Kevan Lannister. Dutiful second sons the both of them. Davos tries to get them to become actual friends bc he’s tired of being the only homoerotic codependent relationship Stannis has

9. Headcanons about their past

-I think Meera, not Jojen, has been raised to take over House Reed. She’s a natural leader and I’m sure Howland knows his son is gonna he paste anyway. Jojen probably used to want to become a Maester and study the higher mysteries before he got his death dreams :( Stannis was probably considered being sent to the citadel too, but I think Steffon decided he needed to stay by Roberts side to be his voice of reason which obviously turned out really well

10. Content about them I’d like to see more of

-I need more Meera fanart pretty please I miss ny baby girl. I also want fics of either her and Dany or her and Jojen and the starklings getting into shenanigans. I would love to see more Jojen dream analyses too, and posts connecting him to Cassandra and other literary references I live for that shit. I am honestly stuffed to the brim for Stannis content bc my entire tl is just Baratheon blogging but I will never say no to more fanart of him, sad old man stavos fics, or analyses on his character!!!

1 - Kiss

Theon could kiss this boy right now, this beautiful, selfless, ginger angel! Instead, he accepts the boots with a shaky smile and hopes it conveys the same thing. (From my self-indulgent Throbb figure skaters AU)

2 - Gentle

What I would give for half of that energy, mused a trudging Frodo. He made sure his cousin was safely distracted attending the hobbit that just walked in, a young man with gentle strawberry curls who he recognized from the flower shop next door, and pressed his forehead wearily against the espresso machine.

If I asked off now, would it sound like an admission of defeat? He pondered, eyes closed against the metal’s gentle heat. (From my only LOTR WIP, a SamFro reincarnation coffee shop AU thing that I started two years ago! Also bonus points because "gentle" appears twice in this snippet.)

3 - Dark

Robb scoffed. He pulled the blanket tighter around his bare shoulders in lieu of Theon’s body heat. “Maybe I would like it there. You don’t know.”

4 - Touch

The match was too easy. Theon might outclass the lot of them with even a poorly strung bow, but swords came to him as naturally as humility. He had expected a deterioration of the Ironborn’s brazen ego as his swings fell and landed; he had planned for Theon to grow more and more defensive as the fight drew on. What he had not planned for was exactly how long he could cling onto the shorn threads of his pride, beating after beating.

But that was no issue to Jon. He wore his frustration like the lining on a coat - subtle, and easily contained. Theon wore his like an oversized hat. “Damn you!” he shouted, gasping and ragged, as a labored swing just touched Jon’s leather pauldron. (ThJon/GreySnow/SnowJoy or whatever body-swap soulmates AU)

5 - Laugh

Sea Bitch, he named her, at the witty age of fourteen. Asha laughed and called it stupid. Robb probably would have done similar. Even his Uncle Victarion had a good chuckle at the poor Bitch’s expense. But Asha would never even have a ship of her own, none of them were the prince, thus Theon was left to name the vessel as he so pleased.

Of course, he agreed with his sister now, well into his seventeenth year and well above the crass humor of an adolescent. But the name stuck, and the ship remained the only bitch in Theon’s life. (Throbb Role-Swap AU)

He's another character where people baffling confuse him with their show version, I've had people outright claim he's never raped anyone, for example, when it's in the actual text of the book that he has.

What I've Read Westerns: Making the Man in Fiction and Film - by Lee Clark Mitchell - This book was read for the Great Queer Supernatural Re-Watch section on Westerns and while I think it provided useful background on the pre-cinematic roots of the genre in novels and painting, I found that the analysis of filmed works was just fine.

There are times where Mitchell misinterprets a work to suit a contrasting reading of masculinity in two films - Hondo and Shane, for example. Hondo absolutely has a plot about a strange interloping male lead coming to a homestead and getting emotionally involved with an abandoned but still married woman and her son, before getting serious with her after her no-good husband dies - because the male lead kills him! Shane has an strange male interloper, but the move bends over backwards to make sure that the ranch wife and the interloper are never in the same shot alone, and the husband is a clearly heroic figure in his own right - plus the ending where Shane bids his farewell to their son rather than to the wife. Modern viewers would be justified in seeing a triad relationship than seeing infidelity. Mitchell also really ignores the racial dynamics of the genre and the fact that he's analyzing White American masculinity, not something more broad, plus he also doesn't really do audience reception of films at all. For all that I found Monsters in the Closet a bit prosaic in the analysis, it's miles better than this for providing context. But Westerns is from 1996, maybe the author has had a chance to get deeper into these topics since.

I read a BUNCH of fanfic that is just too short of the novel line to count as a novel for my reading purposes: A Man of Honor by astolat https://archiveofourown.org/works/44251276 36k - Regency AU, queer accepting AU of Jaime/Robb. It's actually massively fealty fic with some fun politicking, I adored this Tyrion. Cersei is Sir Not Appearing In This Fic, the monarchy and the battles are displaced to English Parliament, it's quite fun.

When aliens think you are dating, you might be dating. I don't even go here! I have not engaged in this fandom at all! All I know is that they have goofy space lions.

The Desert Storm by Blue_Sunshine 30K https://archiveofourown.org/works/18206480 - this is a truly massive series that is only technically finished because the author moved the second and ongoing portion of the series into a different series altogether. It's absolutely not shippy, it's very focused on Ben Nasaade, aka, Obi-Wan Kenobi from Luke's toddler years, getting magicked back to work with the Jedi in the years leading up to the Clone Wars. It's wonderful in terms of taking Jedi philosophy seriously and involves a lot of the Tatooine slave culture worldbuilding that fanon has put together from other sources (which I need to read). I inhaled the first five pieces of this and was so glad I had it downloaded to read when AO3 had it's maintenance shutdown last week. ruin 1/12/23 - holy fucking shit 16k fallout 1/12/23 oh my god 12k true colors 11223 10K in crisis 1/13/23 10k

What I'm Reading Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir - SFF Book Club - Chugging right along! I feel like I am getting the fun vibe of this book in a way that I really wasn't the first time because, since I first tried to read this, I have actually read some recent YA fiction, so I am slightly more in tune with the tropes that they are pointedly subverting.

She’s grown tired of the bickering among siblings, especially with the way Arya can be. She just can’t seem to act like a lady and Sansa had enough. Snapping the way she did at her younger sister probably wasn’t the best thing she could have done and seeing the look on the child’s face only deepened the regret she feels. Though, it doesn’t change much of what she thinks in regards to Arya’s behavior. 

“ I could have been a better sister... ” She doesn’t talk like this to many, but Robb was the oldest and, in her eyes, the wisest of her siblings. She refuses to go to mother, not with these concerns. She’s too proud. “ But you all encourage her, ” she huffs. 

If he’s here to mediate, he won’t get too far. She has no intention of apologizing just yet despite the harshness of her tongue and the realization of it. Instead, she settles down beside him, head resting against his shoulder. When he talks, she listens... for the most part. He’s usually pretty good at smoothing over their disagreements before it reaches the ears of their parents and Sansa would rather talk to him about it even if he may think her desires are frivolous. Her goals are small, and perhaps materialistic, but they’re important to her and she always felt that Robb understood that about her. He accepts her as she is, without needing for her to change. 

Sansa listens to him talk, a pout on her lips as hands wrap around his arm in a hug. At least he lets her voice her frustrations and even if they’re childish, he doesn’t make her feel that way.

“ I’ll apologize... ” she concedes, eyes flicking up at his face though not moving from his shoulder. “ .... tomorrow. ”

Communication is key

Sander and Robbe talk about everything and nothing. 

Of course they share about their jobs and what’s going on there; they talk about Amelia, specifically how she’s developing or what next step they need to take in her development, and they talk about their families, Ziggy, and their friends; but mostly their evenings are taken up with necessary daily communication, organizing the basic elements of their lives, like discussing their schedules and appointments, grocery lists, what to have for dinner, who's turn it is to cook, when Amelia was last changed, how they should spend their evening, what's happening tomorrow, etc. Robbe's always worried that they'll forget something, so they have post-it notes everywhere with reminders, like a running grocery list on the refrigerator or a checklist for Amelia by the front door. (When necessary, Robbe leaves post-its on Sander's keyboard to make sure he sees them.) Sometimes, though, they just leave little notes for one another, an "I love you," on Robbe's work bag, a "Hey Sexy," on Sander's sketchbook, a "Miss you already," on the bathroom mirror, or a "Can't wait to rip these off of you later," lying on Sander's jeans in his drawer. Much to Jens's amusement and Sander's embarrassment (tho secretly he appreciates it; he will just never admit it, never) their wall calendar is color coded. Robbe assigned everyone a color, and he keeps track of all their schedules that way. Every time he adds something to it he can’t suppress the feeling of accomplishment that briefly warms his chest. Sander rolls his eyes at him and lovingly calls him a “dork,” and Robbe just shrugs his shoulders and grins. So what if he likes being organized and knowing where everyone is supposed to be? So yeah, much of the time they’re just keeping on top of the mundane aspects of life. 

Their phone messages, however, are full of memes and gifs, links to tiktoks and funny YouTube videos, mostly stupid, goofy stuff, and lots of teasing and flirting. A lot of flirting. In fact, Sander loves to send Robbe inappropriate texts at work. He’s made it his personal goal to make him blush at least once a week and to have to physically leave his work space at least once a month. Robbe always sends him back angry gifs and middle finger emojis whenever he goes too far, but Sander just answers something like, “Shut up, you love it, now hurry home so I can make good on my promise.” Very occasionally the inappropriate flirting travels the other direction, but as Robbe is the one outside of the house, surrounded by coworkers, it’s rare. He’s more concerned with hiding his phone screen and responding to texts in the bathroom or under his desk out of sight. They message each other all day every weekday, and Robbe knows it’s a problem; but he doesn’t care. (They’ll sometimes even do it while sitting on the couch alone together because they are very mature.)

When Amelia’s finally asleep, that’s when they are able to relax and talk about whatever, and they do talk about anything and everything. They’ll reminisce about the past and make plans about the future. Currently, they’re planning their honeymoon, so they spend hours suggesting ideas and researching possibilities. Robbe has a list of running notes in his phone, and they add to it all the time. They also imagine future trips with Amelia, like taking her to New York with them next time or taking her to Disneyland when she’s a little older. Robbe will often tell Sander about the current book he’s reading or something funny he saw during the day, and Sander will ask for opinions about his drawings or tell a funny story from earlier in the day (there’s always a “You’ll never believe what Amelia did” or a “Your cat did this” story to share). When they watch movies or shows, Sander will listen indulgently while Robbe complains about how the book is better (or not as the case may be), and regardless, he’ll wind up giving a thirty minute lecture about how they are different and whether it’s a good thing or not; and Robbe will listen with a fond eyeroll as Sander makes a game out of naming a song within a few introductory notes. They also like to argue and tease, more like friendly bickering really, about music and movies, actors and books, food and drinks, anything they can disagree on. Robbe will even purposefully defend a position he doesn’t agree with just to watch Sander get wound up and passionate about it.  More than anything, though, they flirt with one another. Whatever they’re talking about, there’s a heavy dose of innuendo and touching involved that they use to their own advantage to make a point or win (aka sidetrack) an argument. They are healthy and young, so they do talk about sex and how hot they think the other is a lot. It just happens. They could be talking about something boring, and somehow one of them will flip it into something suggestive that leads them to the bedroom. Many of their conversations end up devolving into some kind of wrestling or tickling session (because, again, they are very mature). There’s also a lot of “Sorry I didn’t hear that. I was distracted...bc you’re hot,” or “Did you hear me? Are you even listening?” (”Nope. I was staring at your ____”).  No matter what they’re talking about, it almost always ends in laughter because that’s the most important part of their relationship, that they have a lot of fun together. They are always laughing and giggling together, and they wouldn’t change a thing.

One thing they both appreciate, though, is that they don't have to talk at all. They love being together and take comfort in each other’s presence, and sometimes it’s just nice to be together, maybe holding one another, maybe not. It’s always been this way, and as they’ve grown and their relationship has changed, this aspect hasn’t. They are content to just sit together and do their own thing--Robbe reading or scrolling through his phone and Sander drawing and/or listening to music. Or they’ll just cuddle in silence or while watching tv. It’s comfortable and homey, and they find it just as enjoyable as the laughter.

I also get worried that people will get annoyed of me flooding the tags with art (seriously I draw or paint practically every day) so I try to keep a cool down period of like a week before posting anything else to the tags. I just rlly wanted to capture her smile and presence in these shots, I think they were photos of Emilia on set out of character (I know for sure the last one was). I always found it ironic that many of the shots of Emilia in costume but OOC seemed more true to book Dany than most late show scenes. I might do an actual piece based off the bottom one. She’s just so vibrant and so happy and just so Daenerys. That’s my queen right there.

Honestly I don’t really have one, mostly because I’m more interested in drawing portraits. However I do love drawing jonerys/snowstorm, because they’re cute together and it gives me an excuse to draw my two faves.

robbe and sander are walking together and they see yasmina sitting alone so robbe goes to talk to her after seeing the posts too and knows BA are mean to her its just comfort cause my girl needs it.

"Don't you have anything else to do?" Robbe teases, squeezing Sander's hand so his boyfriend doesn't try to let go because of his joke.

Sander snorts, walking to the side so their arms are stretched as long as they can, threatening to let go. He looks forward and lifts his eyebrows, and Robbe follows his indication, finally finding Yasmina.

She’s sitting by herself, away from everyone else, at least two empty tables around her like a fort, but they ignore all the signs that she wants to be left alone. Robbe drags Sander with him, putting his leg on the other side of the bench so he can sit in front of his friend.

“I was looking for you.” He notices Yasmina looking at him, and then at Sander. If he was alone Yasmina would just politely ask him to leave her but she doesn’t have it in her to do that in front of Sander. They are the cool kids and she respects Sander too much for that. And that’s why he had to come with Robbe. He said he wanted to go home, that Robbe could meet him there, he even tried to bribe him offering a warm and cheesy pasta waiting for him at home after his talk with Yasmina but Robbe didn’t take that.

“You found me.” She sighs, and continues eating her food.

“Your brother asked me to keep an eye on you so you can’t be mad at me.” Yasmina frowns so deep Robbe worries how upset she really is. He heard about what happened through the boys so he’s not sure how serious it was.

“Elias? How do you know him?”

Robbe shrugs, trying to keep things a little lighter to not be another problem to her.

“The boys talked about him, someone ended up creating a group.” She keeps staring at him, and he feels Sander sitting closer.

“Elias is a very social guy. He asked Robbe as a joke to keep an eye on you weeks ago.” Yasmina’s deathly stare moves to Sander straight away.

“You know Elias too?”

Robbe sighs, not wanting to talk about that part specifically. Sander looks at him but Robbe keeps his eyes on Yasmina.

“Yeah, we met that day...when he was at Younes’ place, which is also my place.” Her angry face slowly fades away, and she looks down, opening her chips.

“Got it.”

“He’s nice.” Robbe adds quietly when he notices that if they don’t talk, Yasmina won’t continue any conversation either. At least she laughs, looking at him again. “Younes too…”

Sander snorts, squeezing Robbe’s thigh under the table. “You like almost everyone.”

Robbe smiles shyly, rolling his eyes and that catches Yasmina’s attention.

“Is there any drama in the Driesen-IJzermans’ household?” She moves to sit right in front of them, crossing her arms on the table. Robbe notices the dark circles around her eyes, a little red from probably crying, and her hoodie looks bigger today, hiding all her hair, almost covering her eyes, and Yasmina keeps her hand close to her mouth, always fixing her mask so it won’t show anything else.

Sander sighs, shaking his head. “Robbe is jealous…”

“Oh!” Yasmina lifts her eyebrows, and Robbe is sure she’s smiling under her black mask, and he’s happy to be the guinea pig if it makes her forget about the girls’ drama. “He’s jealous of who? Younes?! Elias?!” She even raises her voice when mentioning her brother.

“No, it’s just that I’ve known one of the boys from the past…” Sander looks at her, lifting his eyebrows.

“We’re not here to talk about Sander’s past…” Robbe says, annoyed to be reminded of those events. “How are you?”

Yasmina’s smile fades away as quickly as it came and she collects all her trash, getting up to throw it in the trash a few steps from their table, walking back and sitting back down.

“What do you think?”

Robbe nods his head, more than ready to give her a little piece of his mind, and hopefully some sense back into her smartass brain. “That the girls are out of their minds. That’s what I think.”

“The problem is that they aren’t, Robbe. I started that account.”

“So what? You’re the most responsible person I know, and they know you better than I do. They should know you wouldn’t do an instagram account for no reason, they should have asked, they should have stayed by their friend’s side. The boys are not the greatest but if I asked them for help they would never ask why first, they would help me and then we would talk.”

“Does your brother know about what happened?” Sander asks carefully, and Yasmina sighs, tired, looking at him.

“No. I’ll deal with him later. He’s not the biggest fan of my friends, and he has a very tiny, tiny filter so it’s best to keep him out of it.”

“Yasmina.” Robbe moves his hand on the table to see if the movement gets Yasmina’s attention back on him. “You can’t do everything alone. You are not the one to blame for what happened with Amber. If they can’t see that then fuck them.”

Yasmina smiles sadly: the corners of her eyes go up a little, and there’s a tiny spark in her eyes. “Like you can say anything about dropping bad friends.”

Robbe nods his head in defeat because he’s really not the best at it but he doesn’t think the boys are as bad as the girls, but Yasmina doesn’t need that part right now. “I can’t but I have some experience on finding better people to also have by my side. I know Sander would never leave my side.”

“So I balance them all out, that’s good to know.” Sander says, winking at Robbe and he kisses his boyfriend’s cheek, noticing Yasmina watching them, lost in her thoughts too.

“So Younes…”

She rolls her eyes, relaxing her posture a little bit, and Robbe wonders if that’s the Younes effect on her.

“What about him?” She puts her head on her shoulder in defeat but it’s that stupid feeling you have when you like someone, just not enough to admit you want to talk about them just yet.

“He’s nice…like extremely nice. Probably wins the award for the most chill person ever.”

She nods her head, grabbing her phone.

“He’s also the meme type of person.”

Sander frowns, looking at Yasmina. “Really? The good memes or the bad ones?”

“The cheesy, not funny ones.” She tells, not even looking at them, and Robbe could bet she’s reading their conversation. The spark in her eyes is even brighter than before.

“Fuck, that’s bad. I would never imagine it by living with him.” Yasmina sighs, nodding her head and rolling her eyes. Robbe knows that feeling, the one he gets when Sander starts to go on and on about Bowie for way too long.

“I mean, nobody can be perfect.” Robbe thinks out loud, and he notices the other two staring right at him. “Come on now! The guy is nice, weirdly nice, and he has the looks too. Let’s be really honest.”

Sander lifts his eyebrows, nodding his head carefully because he knows his boyfriend a little too well. Yasmina doesn’t do anything but she doesn’t have to. When you like someone, even when you’re wearing a mask, hiding inside your comfort hoodie, having the worst week of your life, your energy appears to everyone else around you.

“So!” Robbe claps his hands. “You’re going to go on a walk with us now. We’ll stop to eat some real food on our way, Sander will invite Elias and Younes and we’ll all chill together. Elias said he could teach me how to play basketball.”

“He’s terrible at basketball.”

“You’re not going to grow from playing basketball now, Robbe.”

Robbe looks at both of them, getting up without giving them the satisfaction of an answer, throwing his bag over his shoulder, staring at them again, still sitting.

“I’m serious, get up!”

And they start moving, finally. Sander gets up first, smiling to him, quietly holding his hand, intertwining their fingers and Yasmina does it against her will, dragging her bag on the table until it’s right in front of her, going around her shoulder.

“You don’t have to invite Younes…” She whispers, and Robbe smiles at her before putting his mask on again.

“I feel like it. I just want to see it...to have some proof that soft, in love Yasmina exists.”

“Shut up.”

“You’re pushing your limits, Robin.” Sander warns, kissing his temple.

If you want a prompt for your day off tomorrow, how about Robb doing some grocery shopping for Sansa (maybe she just had a baby or she’s sick? Or busy and Robb’s just that brother) but he doesn’t know which oat milk to buy so he’s hovering near the alternative milks until this gorgeous blonde grabs a carton and he asks her for help choosing a brand?

Ask and ye shall receive!

He looked at the list again and then at the cart and crossed off sweet potatoes. He pulled off to the side so as not to aggravate other Saturday morning shoppers and looked at the shopping list in its entirety.

He was right next to carton of egg whites so he grabbed that and crossed it off the list.

To say that his shopping cart was not normally filled with kale, sweet potatoes, and vegetable broth was an understatement. He actually was pretty bad about coming to the grocery store at all.

But that was when it was for himself. This was for Sansa.

Sansa who had grumbled on the phone before dissolving into a coughing fit about how her shopper from the app had forgotten half a dozen things when they’d delivered groceries the day before. And even what they did bring her wasn’t quite up to her standards. Even in her reduced state.

She’d gone to a friend’s wedding down in Highgarden the following weekend and had found out as her plane landed that in spite of all of the precautions someone there had Covid. A day later and she had a horribly sore throat and was exhausted, and couldn’t smell a thing.

His Mom had wanted to go and get her and bring her home, where she could recuperate under her watchful eye and get some fresh air, but they’d been able to convince her that it wasn’t a good idea.

Even still, Sansa had been sending hourly I’m alive texts to the family group chat and to him an ongoing Captain’s Log, detailing her physical and mental breakdown.

So when she’d almost started crying that the person had delivered soy milk instead of oat milk, he’d had to do something.

It wasn’t enough but he’d offered to go grocery shopping for her. He would have offered to cook for her, but she didn’t need food poisoning on top of Covid, and compromised with himself, that he’d pick up the groceries she’d requested, plus some trashy and fashion magazine and then go to her favorite bakery and get some lemon cakes and then some flowers.

All that was left on the list was the dairy aisle, and he could grab the magazines at the front.

He got her favorite lemon yogurt (why she could have dairy yogurt but had to have non-dairy milk was a question he’d always been too afraid to ask) and some goat cheese and then got to the non-dairy milks.

What has happened to the world? He wondered, feeling very much like a Kings Landing Times snarky columnist.

But seriously. Some of these had to be a joke. Almond milk. Soy milk. Those were fine. Whatever. Macademia nut milk? Pistachio milk? He couldn’t help but think of the meme he’d seen once with a conversation between God and an angel.

“They don’t like that milk,” he intoned to himself, covering his mouth so that he wouldn’t laugh like a crazy person.

He scanned the aisle and found oat milk.

But… there were so many?

At least five different brands. And then flavored ones. Full fat. Non fat. What the fuck is a barista blend?

“Sorry, excuse me,” a soft voice cut into his thoughts, and then a perfume so intoxicating it made him grateful he hadn’t lost his sense of smell filled his nose. Both belonged to a petite girl with a crown of golden hair. He stepped out of her way and she went to grab the regular old oat milk on the top shelf, but couldn’t quite reach. He ignored the way her shirt rose up slightly, revealing a sliver of her back and he grabbed it for her. “Thank you.”

“Sure…uh,” he started and she turned to look at him.

And every thought fell out of his head.

“Yes?” she asked, not unkindly.

He couldn’t see her lips because they were covered by her mask, but her gorgeous green eyes suggested they were smiling.

He cleared his throat, shaking out of it, “Do you mind telling me… is… is that the best oat milk? Like… or do you just… is it brand loyalty or a cost thing?”

Her eyebrows quirked in amusement, “Really?”

He shrugged, “Some people continue using a product even if it’s terrible just because they’re used to it.”

She giggled and it brought a smile to his face, even though he was fairly certain it was at his expense.

He was sure of it when she asked, “No I mean… are you really chatting me up about oat milk?”

He chuckled, not in the least bit embarrassed, “Well I probably would do that but actually I’m getting it for my sister and I think if I text her one more clarification question about her grocery list she’s going to break quarantine just to kick my ass.”

He thought she might laugh but her brow furrowed, “Oh no, does she have Covid?”

He nodded, “Yeah,” then held his hands up, “But I haven’t seen her.”

She eye-smiled again tucking a lock of hair behind her ear, “I figured since… you know, you’re here.”

“Right,” he agreed.

“Is she alright?” she asked, sounding like she actually cared.

“She will be,” he told her, “Thanks.”

She held up the oat milk, “This is the best. And I do not believe in blind loyalty.”

He chuckled, and grabbed a carton, “Good to know.”

“Well, I hope she feels better soon,” she told him, then held her hand up and waved slightly, “Bye.”

He raised his hand too and then she was on her way.

The grocery store was too crowded, and he didn’t see her again. His stomach knotted in disappointment, wishing he’d thought to ask her something other than what brand of oat milk she liked.

He went to the register and waited in line, grabbing a few magazines that were sure to zap the remaining bits of Sansa’s psyche, and then went out to the car and loaded everything in.

It was early enough that the roads weren’t too busy, and he went to the flower shop first, getting Sansa some of the Braavosi tulips she loved, and then headed toward Nan’s bakery.

The morning crowd was there, a few people waiting in line, and the smell of freshly baked bread made things feel a little bit better.

He planned on getting her some sourdough, too, because he knew she was going to make some tomato soup, and planned to get some rye bread for himself, and maybe a raspberry donut.

When it was his turn he grinned, “Hi Nanny.”

“Hi baby,” she said, then turned around, “I boxed up some lemon cakes for Sansa like you asked. What else can I get you?”

He placed his order and got himself a coffee as well.

“It’ll all be down there,” Nan waved him towards the register, turning with a smile to the next customer, “And what can I get for you?”

“Oh… hmm…,” a somehow familiar voice said behind him and he turned. Her eyes moved up to look at him, and now he knew she was smiling. Her body sort of did a semi wiggle before straightening up, and tilting her head to the side, “So… would you say the lemon cakes are the best thing on the menu?”

He crossed his arms, “Really? You’re using baked goods to hit on me?”

She laughed and turned to Nan, “Did you hear that?”

Nan shook her head, “He wishes. Now Robb, you tell her that the best things on the menu are the lemon cakes and the pistachio loaf and you offer to buy her one of each and eat whichever she likes less.”

The girl raised her eyebrows in surprise and he shrugged, not wanting to miss his chance again, “Do you have anywhere to be?”

She seemed to think about it for a moment and said, “Throw in an oat milk latte and you’ve got yourself a deal.”

“Nan,” he said, “You heard the woman… whose name is…”

She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, “Myrcella. It’s nice to meet you… Robb.”

“It’s nice to meet you too,” he told her. Nan had moved onto other customers so they moved towards the register. “You’re brave,” he told Myrcella.

She glanced up at him, “Well if you’re a total brute I’ll just lie and tell you I have plans.”

He laughed, “No I mean, you didn’t even ask if she had the good oat milk.”

He wasn’t sure how, but even through her mask he was certain she scrunched her nose.

“I’ll take my chances.”
