Valley on the I'll Be With You Tour
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notable Moments:
Can I say the entire show? I'm just kidding, but this was genuinely such a great performance. I went with one of my best friends, which definitely enhanced the experience, but I have also been a ValPal since the release of MAYBE, so seeing them was a special treat.
I made my own MAYBE jacket, as a little treat, and wrote some of my favorite lyrics of theirs on the inside back panel of the jacket. Luckily, it was cold when we went to see the show so I wasn't overheated in my bulky jacket and it's become one of my favorite jackets.
Mickey did lead vocals for the second half of "Tempo" and the first half of "Oh Shit... Are We in Love?" and he also did an extended guitar solo during Tempo that absolutely knocked my socks off.
Karah switched places with Mickey during "Tempo" to sing lead vocals with Rob and her voice was incredible, I really hope she starts to sing lead on their new records. She had such a great energy and her drum solos were impressive, to say the least.
Alex was so much fun to interact with, I wish I had photos of him that were any good, because he was so invested in interacting with his fans, it was great.
Rob was an absolute shining star, as would be expected from Rob Laska. He talked frequently during the show, but was able to not kill the flow of the performance. He had a lot of witty banter and interactions and seemed genuinely excited to be playing for us that night.
The band fit a cover of "Landslide" in between the last verse and chorus of "All the Animals I Drew as a Kid," which has entirely changed the way I listen to and relate to that song. They also played tracks off of This Room is White, which was both unexpected and incredibly well done. The finale was, of course, "Like 1999" which has never been my favorite of theirs until I heard it live. The energy the crowd had and screaming the lyrics with my favorite band and 600 other people definitely changed the way I listen to that song.
Overall, it was a wonderful show and I would probably go to see Valley again, if given the chance.

Concert Review: Welcome To The Valley!
People are falling in love with Valley, in part, because they swim in the murkiness of life. From ¨Break You¨ to ¨Champagne,¨  the crowd sang their lyrics back to them as if it was ¨Hallelujah.¨At Irving Plaze, I realized they have the perfect formula. From lead vocalist Rob Laska and  drummer     Karah James interchanging/harmonizing vocals to the ebb and flows of songs that are never quite…

Take a look-listen below: READ More: JUNO nominated, alternative-pop band Valley - Rob Laska, Michael "Mickey" Brandolino, Alex Dimauro, and Karah James - share their steadfast new single “Break For You” through Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada. “Break For You” arrives as the third single from the band’s upcoming sophomore album Lost In Translation set to release on June 23.  Listen HERE. Valley have been performing “Break For You” live as part of their set list during the first few dates on tour to rave responses from audiences, the track blending seamlessly into their catalogue of danceable love songs. Drummer and vocalist Karah James, explains “’Break for You’ was one of those songs that just fell from the sky and into our lap. The lyrics and melodies effortlessly unfolded as we wrote the song and when we listened back for the first time, we felt that it was a special one.” Karah continues, “The concept isn’t anything ground-breaking, but it’s a universal one that we said in a way that felt true to us and our relationships. This song is a reminder to a loved one that they don’t have to bear their burdens alone.” Karah continues, “It’s a guardian angel looking after us from near or far and a loyalty to pay it forward. The good and the bad parts of life aren’t meant to be lived alone, and if we just let each other in, our lives could be even more colourful.” “Break For You” follows two previously released tracks “Throwback Tears” which was covered by Kerala folk/indie group When Chai Met Toast and shared on Rolling Stone India and has racked up over four million global stream plus “Good, but not together,” that was released alongside a live performance video. i need more happy belated.
i love valley. they're an exceptional band. they've even still got some remnants of happy belated in some tracks off of "this room is white."
but they will never be happy belated. "national parks" was quite literally a life changing record. i listen to at least two tracks off of it daily and listen to the whole record two or three times a week. i need more songs that sound like happy belated and i know we will never get it and that's just so unfair.
i also really wish "national parks" was on vinyl because listening to it on vinyl versus streaming the record would probably elevate my soul onto a different plane of existence and i would experience nirvana or something of the like
