Todays roast dinner - duck breast on potato gratin with tender stem broccoli, roasted chantey carrots & shallots, with skin on mini roast potatoes and a red currant jus. I also had a side of Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy 👌😋👍 (there was a bowl of extra veg but we didn’t need it)

Mum bought roast duck during her morning trip to Chong Pang so she just prepared Hairy Gourd (Benincasa hispida var. chieh-qua) or 毛瓜 with canned baby abalones for dinner. For the duck drumstick, I add a small scoop of the fried sambal chilli paste that came with the duck to give it a spicy kick.

Dear Gus & Magnus,

Mom picked me up at lunch so we could cast our votes for Anna in the school board election, then we walked over to Gold Bowl for their roasted duck ramen.

Yiayia bought us sushi takeout from Kemuri that I picked up on the way home from work. You two had fun playing with her. The highlight was everyone taking turns throwing the ball to Magnus so he could hit it with the bat. Gus got photos for his Instagram.

Had roasted duck for my Brunch with braised egg and Taiwan sausage (台湾香肠). The sausage is different from the Chinese sausage (腊肠) as it is sweeter, not aged and dried. Here the drumstick is drizzled with the savoury sweet brown sauce.

Ingredient amounts may vary depending on what's left from your meal. But fried rice dishes are very forgiving. 3 cups cooked long-grain rice, 6 green onions thinly sliced, 1/2 cup thinly sliced Chinese barbecued pork, 2 eggs beaten, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 cup chopped Chinese roast duck meat skin and fat separated and set aside, salt and pepper to taste
