i was just reminded of this story so you folks get to learn some YAKKYR LORE! when me and my sister were younger, we had this game we would play called Real Life Superheroes (real fucking creative name I know) where we would basically roleplay as whatever characters we wanted (it was not just superheroes, i remember begging my sister to let me be fnaf characters) on this big superhero team, and we would fight this big bad called "The Dark Lord" (8-11 yr old me's creativity was unmatched i know) and his power set was basically whatever we fucking wanted. btw when i said it was not just superheroes, I meant it. you had your avengers and dc heroes, sure, but you also had me shoehorning in whatever i wanted like sonic, mario, the engineer from tf2, obi wan kenobi, freddy fucking fazbear, you name it. even villains were on the team (one of which i distinctly remember being fucking thanos).

what's even more wild was we created this big ass story in a tiny ass basement that was basically shaped like a donut if it was a square. even funnier was if we didn't like how one another made a scene play out, we could just fucking veto it and redo the scene. it was bliss. we even abbreviated the name to RLSH to make it sound cooler

HOW TO BE A WHITE VIGILANTE AT A BLACK LIVES MATTER PROTEST

Black Lives Matter rallies and police brutality protests are EXACTLY the time and place to go out as your alter ego. The mask. The clothes. The protective gear. The hair, makeup, and whatever else... but there are things you need to keep in mind.

This post is directed at white vigilantes who want to take part in protests led by people of color. I’ll lead with this: this is not about YOU.

American culture is inherently racist. It’s in the media. It’s in our schools. It’s in our heads. That’s why it’s called systemic racism, and that’s why even the most well-meaning white person is racist. Police imprison, beat, and murder black people at their own discretion. These protests are BY black people, FOR black people. Again: this is NOT about YOU.

If you’re white, a protest is NOT the time to grab the megaphone and make yourself the center of attention. You need to be the one passing out water bottles, administering first aid. If you’re white, you need to be the one standing between the cops and your black brothers and sisters. You are there to listen. You are there to protect. You are there to support in any way you can WITHOUT making yourself a spectacle.

Don’t dress too flashy. Don’t make this about you. Being a vigilante means doing what the police fail to do: you protect and serve. Looking the part of superhero is who you are and a part of what you do, and it’s important - we just have to remember WHY we do what we do.

We’re here to help. Even when they think we’re freaks. Even when words like “superhero” and “vigilante” make them roll their eyes. Life could be a comic book if we all just tried.

Who am I?

I am the Lonely Silver Beatle, a crusader secretly parading the streets of Oslo, Norway. Tied up in the far north and with my civilian life, I am not able to fight much, but it is more to the job than just fighting criminals. 

The Lonely Silver Beatle is a real-life superhero. 

Superheroes excist, and I am one of them. They are, more often than not, hidden in the shadows, as cringey and clichè as that sounds, it’s true. Usually, if you’re not a local, and have seen them wandering your local streets, you probably don’t even know that they exist. I have been into the idea of real life superheroes for a while now, and I still don’t know of a single one residing in Norway. Not a single one, in my whole country. 

But, I know they are out there. I want to meet them. I want to connect! 

I want the superheroes of this whole great wonderful world to know of each other, exchange ideas, and make ourselves known. 

We exist. And we will be damned if we don’t change the world, so that is exactly what we will do.
