Fraxinus (flowering Ash)
One of my New Year’s resolutions this year is to feature more trees on Flowerishness so I’ve decided to start with the first one in the alphabet, the Ash tree. The genus Fraxinus is widespread across much of Europe, Asia, and North America with 43 recognized species.
These photos were taken at Riverview Hospital, the provincial psychiatric hospital which first opened it’s doors in 1904 but shut those doors forever in 2012. The old hospital ‘grounds’ now host a mature arboretum with a magnificent collection of trees that cover 244 acres, including this lovely flowering Ash.
When the trees were first planted in the early 1900s it was said that “the beauty of nature will soothe the troubled mind.” The old buildings are derelict now and no faces look through these windows - but a vision of the past lives on through these wonderful trees.

Season 1, Episode 10: Asylum
While investigating a haunting in an abandoned asylum and rescuing two teenagers who ventured in, Sam and Dean become trapped with the spirits of those who had died in a riot decades ago, one of which was a doctor who causes extreme rage in his victims. (Directly from IMDB)
Director: Guy Norman Bee
Writers: Eric Kripke, Richard Hatem
Set In: Roosevelt Asylum, Rockford Illinois
I am super excited for this episode
Okay, since I am a nerd, here’s some information about what is called “Roosevelt Asylum” in Supernatural (maybe I’m going a bit too far, I haven’t even gotten past the title card yet)
Okay it seems like the episode was actually filmed in Riverview Hospital in BC which has been used in many other movies and tv shows such as Deadpool 2.
Riverview seems to have beautiful grounds, and was operational as a hospital since the beginning of the 20th century until as recently as 2010.
I can’t find any evidence for any actual asylum existing in Rockford Illinois or even a sanatorium.
When you look up Roosevelt Asylum, the result tends to be Blackwell’s Asylum on Roosevelt Island in New York.
It seems like Supernatural confused the internet
Okay- starting the episode now!
 They’re different things
“Let me know if you see any dead people, Haley Joel.” -Dean
I did not get that joke the first time around hahah
You know, this is some good Dean dialogue
Also a really good ghost episode
So many Jack Nicholson references
This was a phenomenal episode

Do you know the origin of the name Champignac ?
We'll ... Champignac is a village from Spirou & Fantasio which is one of the most popular classic Franco-Belgian comics. The series, which has been running since 1938, shares many characteristics with other European humorous adventure comics like The Adventures of Tintin and Asterix. It has been written and drawn by a succession of artists ... Spirou and Fantasio are the series' main characters, two adventurous journalists who run into fantastic adventures, aided by Spirou's pet squirrel Spip, the Marsipulami, and their inventor friend the Count of Champignac ... :D

* Dr Carl Coppolino - Deadly Anaesthesist
I know it's been a while so here we are;
Carl Coppolino was born in 1933 in Florida, USA. Coppolino graduated Fordham University in 1954 in the Bronx and worked at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center during 1958 in Brooklyn. Coppolino’s health was so poor that by age 30 he had already suffered several heart attacks, retired as a practicing anesthesiologist, and was collecting sizable disability pay. A true polymath, Coppolino had also written several books and scientific papers on anesthesiology and was considered an expert on the matter.
He met his wife whilst working at Riverview Hospital in New Jersey. The connection between the two was unmatched, his beautiful wife Carmela was also a Dr and she understood how hard the job of being a Dr and the work schedules could be. Dr Coppolino's health was deteriorating so poorly that he ended up having to give up work earlier than expected. Other than Carmela's shifts at work and Carl's failing health, the couple seemed happy. But as we all know looks can be deceiving. Inside Carl something was boiling and he was losing his grasp on reality. In 1965 they moved into a home in a retirement community called Longboat Key just off Florida's Gulf of Mexico's coast by the time they were both 32 due to his fragile health.
Back in Middletown, New Jersey, Coppolino began having an affair with his neighbor Marjorie Farber, a stunning woman 14 years his senior. Her husband retired US Army Colonel William Farber was unaware of the passionate rendezvous' that his wife and Carl were having. In 1963 Colonel Farber died suddenly after suffering a heart attack. Marjorie followed Carl to Florida in August 1965 and their secretive affair resumed as if nothing had happened, as if she had not just suffered the huge loss of losing her husband.
On August 28th 1965 Carmela Coppolino was dead. A late-night phone call to a physician, Dr. Juliette Karow headed to Longport Key, Florida, home of Dr. Carl and Carmela Coppolino. Carl had called for Dr. Karow’s assistance as Carl believed Carmela was dying of heart attack. Dr. Karow arrived to find Carmela sadly was already deceased. She was just 32 years of age. Her death was ruled as a Coronary Occlusion (the partial or complete obstruction of blood flow in a coronary artery) on her death certificate. Her body was sent to Boonton, New Jersey. Dr Carl Coppolino did not attend her funeral citing "My heart is weak and my personal physician said it may kill me."
Just 40 days after Carmela's death, Carl was married again. Not to his mistress Marjorie but rather his second mistress. A 38 year old divorcee called Mary Gibson whom he had met at Maxwell Bridge Studios. They became bridge partners and from there a passionate love grew. Marjorie Farber was seething, a woman scorned indeed. How dare he marry someone else when their trysts were more than sex for Marjorie, she loved Carl and would have done anything for him. This included helping him murder her husband.
Marjorie couldn't allow Carl to marry someone else, he couldn't get away with it. Marjorie walked into Sarasota County Police & told them that Carl murdered Carmela using deadly quick metabolizing succinylcholine as well as using this on Colonel Bill Farber, her husband. She confessed her own involvement in the murder of her husband and so the police believed her, after all why would she implicate herself if there wasn't some truth to what she was saying.
Marjorie alleged that on 29th July 1963 under post-hypnotic suggestion from Carl, she had taken a hypodermic needle that he had provided her She began to inject her husband she claims "I couldn't stop myself, it was absolutely over and beyond my control." According to her, unable to continue injecting her husband she called Carl, it was the middle of the night but Carl left his sleeping wife Carmela and went to the Farber's to finish the job. He drugged his victim, William Farber, before smothering him with a pillow.
Upon investigation, Investigators were able to prove that Coppolino had obtained a supply of succinylcholine right before Farber's death. And again just 5 weeks before Dr Carmela's death. Carl's excuse for having this supply of succinylcholine was he was getting rid of a 'troublesome dog" and that he was planning on conducting research into a way of measuring the concentration of the drug in the blood during surgeries.
Due to the circumstances and the confession from Marjorie the police decided to exhume Carmela's body. Dr Milton Halpern, NYC's Medical Examiner at the time & Toxicologist Dr Joseph Umburger examined Carmela for any proof of Marge's claims. After observing Carmela, a small puncture wound was found on her left buttocks, which was consistent with a hypodermic needle. He decided he wanted to test for succinylcholine chloride, however no such test existed. This made it the perfect murder weapon. Dr Umburger refused to let Coppolino get away with the murder of his young, beautiful wife and so he set about devising such a test.
In June 1966, after spending months taking samples from Carmela's organs and the injection site, he had finally succeeded in isolating both succinic acid and choline, this was proof Carmela had been killed in the way Marjorie had described. This revelation proved Mrs. Farber's credibility and she requested the exhumation of her husband, Bill. The police complied with this request due to her proving her reliability in telling the truth and giving her confession.
On July 14th 1966 Colonel William Farber's body was also exhumed, unfortunately Dr Umburger's test could not be used on the Colonel's body as he had been in the ground for too long. The medical examiner could prove William Farber had been murdered though due to the detection of severe fractures of the cricoid cartilage in the larynx. Halpern deducted Farber had die due to strangulation. Just 9 days later on July 23rd 1966, Carl was arrested for the murder of Farber. 4 days later he was informed he was to be indicted for the homicide of his wife, Carmela. Coppolino would have two trial, one for each homicide. The first trial was to be that for Colonel William Farber. It was to be in Naples, Florid and secondly in Freehold, Florida would be his trial for the murder of Carmela.
For both of his trials, Carl used a well known public figure, lawyer F. Lee Bailey, despite using him twice however both trials had different conclusions. Carl was very charismatic, he was able to convince the jury in Freehold County Court that he was simply being a good physician on the night Colonel Farber was killed, which was roughly 29th/30th July 1963 according to the M.E. In response to what exactly he did in his role/duty as a Dr he claimed he had given Farber a tranquilizer and then Pronestal to correct his uneven heart. He reported that he recommended Bill attend hospital but both Bill and Marge refused and so were asked to sign a form declaring such. According to Dr Coppolino the damage exhibited in Farber's neck could have occurred during the exhumation. A defense expert, Dr Spelman theorized that Bill had perished from a heart attack. His theory based on sufficient arteriosclerosis clogging Farber's coronary arteries enough to cause a heart attack. The jury at Freehold County Court deliberated for just four and a half hours before deciding to acquit Carl Coppolino of all charges, releasing him on bail He was free and so Carl and his new wife Mary travelled back home before taking off on holiday!
Overconfident Carl & his defense lawyer, F. Lee Bailey, wholeheartedly believed that he would also be acquitted of charges regarding Carmela's death. They thought this due to no eyewitnesses and them convinced they could prove Marjorie wasn't credible. Marge however was growing concerned about Coppolino's second wife, Mary, she didn't want history repeating itself.
The experts for the prosecution included Dr Joseph Umburger whose newly devised test would no scrutinized because other experts claimed succinylcholine was untraceable. This is because of how rapidly succinylcholine is broken down within the body. The succinic acid Dr Umburger had discovered was in Carmela's brain rather than the injection site. Coppolino's lawyer implied the M.E Dr Halpern had doctored the autopsy report in order to make Carl appear to be guilty.
Dr Umburger unexpectedly confessed that he only said it was possible that Carmela had been poisoned with succinylcholine chloride. He claimed Dr Halpern had insisted he removed the word possible from the report. This only helped Coppolino's case because if the report was altered what else could have been amended or doctored. These circumstances led Coppolino's lawyer, F. Lee Bailey, to believe the case was a home run. He was so confident he didn't even put his client on the stand to deny the accusation of her murder. This would be his downfall.
At 9:30am on 28th April 1967, the jury announced their verdict - Guilty! The all male jury decided this wasn't premeditated murder but rather 2nd degree murder, this meant Coppolino couldn't face the death penalty. Personally I find this appalling how is poisoning not premeditated? Carl was sentenced to life imprisonment, sadly though due to 'good behavior' from the shamed doctor he served just 12 years. Upon his release, his wife Mary greeted him beaming with happiness after having fought and protested for his innocence.

Growing into the Job Post 283: Late Night TV, p2
I…hadn’t seen TV for a while. I just plain old hadn’t had one since Sheryl had kicked me out, since I’d moved into this tiny little upper-floor studio over the office. Even before that, though, I was never a big television watcher. I’d generally rather entertain myself with a book, a movie…or these days perving over pictures of Melissa. But earlier today I’d come home after work to find that Marisela had set up a big-screen TV in my apartment for me, perched precariously on a stand, sitting atop an old dresser in the corner. She’d hooked me up with a bunch of streaming services and channels, and connected it all somehow to a plain little black box and an old-timey looking remote with what were certainly not English command symbols. Cool, I guess…it looked sorta fishy but there’d be no bill or fee or whatever, she told me, and therefore I didn’t ask too many questions. Pirated? Probably. But I couldn’t afford subscriptions, let alone the 72” flat screen that now dominated my apartment and at which I now stared from my threadbare couch at 2am.
TV was weird, these days. I watched the network news for a while, earlier. Everyone was talking about these three missing teens, disappeared since Trick-or-Treating on Halloween night.  They suspected foul play from the kid who was with them, the one with the crazy story about witches with tentacles. In fact I’d seen an interview with Sheila Frances, the new medical director at Riverview Hospital, the place from which I’d recently had my privileges suspended and where the boy was currently being held for observation. “We expect the toxicology reports to come back positive,” she’d said to the interviewer, a busty brunette, “but in the meantime the policewomen are still with him.”
I found it funny how she made a point to say ‘policewomen’. That when talking about the investigators, or the team of docs working with the kid, she referred to them all as ‘she’ or ‘her’. I found it unusual that the interviewer, the news anchors, the sports reporter, and the weather person for this local news squad…they were all women. Most of the actors on the ads, the main leads on the majority of the shows I flipped through: all female faces. Young and attractive, lots of times shapely. Had this trend, this fixation for the tall and buxom, already changed TV’s landscape like this? Or was I just imagining things? I mean, I wasn’t complaining. I mean…wow. Look at the knockers on her…this new sitcom about life on Mars? Apparently NASA has new standards for its astronauts haha. Or the girls on this 24-7 reality TV show? “Celebrity House of Trouble”? Wait…did I recognize that one?
Yikes, 2am. I'd been straight-up channel surfing for hours, now bleary eyed and exhausted but unable to look away, sitting in the dark, bathed by the ghostly, flickering light of the screen. I chalked it up to its newness, made my excuses that I was just checking out what sort of stuff Marisela had hooked up for me, told myself I could sleep in tomorrow. But I was basically like a zombie - click, click, clicking through the channels I’d been given. Networks and streaming services: some I knew, many I didn’t recognize. Cooking channels, travel channels, sports channels. Weird stuff, on the outskirts. Foreign languages, broadcasts from overseas. Special interest channels like…dog grooming. A ‘Men’s Network’…what’s this, now?
It was labeled as ‘Men’s Special Interest Television’ on the guide, and by the looks of it was a pretty new addition to the channel lineup, deep in the high channel numbers, broadcasting only late at night. But…wow. It caught my attention. Jesus - the host for whatever sort of show they were playing, something about video games, could be a porn star with hipster glasses. I actually watched it for a bit, raptly absorbing their review of some new entry that involved, holy shit, look at the jugs on that enormous vampire lady. She’s huge…
The segment was over, and suddenly now it was a cooking show. “Dani in the Kitchen”, whose bosomy, MILF-y chef coo’d at the camera like she was talking to a little lost child. Christ almighty Dani can make dinner for me any time. Now it switched to a sports report, now coverage of women’s bodybuilding, now just straight-up tits on the beach. Camera shots lasted moments, scenes and programming changed quickly. Whatever this channel was, it obviously pegged its audience as having attention spans measured in moments and IQs in the double-digits…and I couldn’t look away.
Even the ads…lord, especially the ads…were filled with content playing into man’s basic instincts to just flat-out stare and lay docile when shown the right curves, the proper swells and smiles. Cleavage and soft-core and busty political candidates pitching themselves before the election bulged from my screen and I caught myself with my mouth agog, even at the political ads. Had I been watching this channel for more than two hours already? I don’t remember much, now, as I was eventually drifting in and out of sleep, but could still probably recite word-for-word that voice-over from the self-promoting station-identification piece that played in nearly every commercial break, layered over imagery that seemed custom crafted for someone like me…

Banyan Bend
While looking for something else the other day, I came across a link for this world and all of its original lots that were created by the 3 administrators of the old Sims Crossing site. Plus, the original sims created to live here were also up for grabs. Someone over on the Sims Cave uploaded them all. Which was great, since I had lost some of the stuff during my last 2 computer meltdowns and it was impossible to find any of them previously. So, if any of you want to play this world, hop on over to the Sims Cave and type in Sims Crossing - or Banyan Bend.
Anyway, this world was created right after Late Night came out and has no CC. It's their vision of how Twinbrook should have been. And while I like parts of it, there is room for improvement. But CAW hates me, so it is what it is.
I'm currently redoing lots. They placed the movie studio lot from Bridgeport on probably the only 64x64 lot in this town. And since I want to use that for my festival lot, I needed to find a movie lot on something smaller. They placed 2 of those dome thingies - that thing next to the science center in Sunset Valley - on 2 different 60x60 lots in town. One is for butterflies, while the other is... well, I'm not sure what it is. The butterfly one is down by the industrial lots - just down the street from their movie lot. So, I bulldozed it. Yes, I did! My greenie sims are not happy, but I'll let them have that other dome lot to keep their bugs in. I know! I'm way too nice to my sims.
I tried several different lots on this space before I accidently came across a lot over on MTS, created by someone called mccorade. It was created with Riverview in mind. And while it wasn't exactly what I wanted, it was a good start. And it was on a smaller lot. I think maybe 50x50. So, thank you!
Tumblr media
Anyway, here it is now. I have made several changes - as I normally do - but the bones are mccorade's.
Tumblr media
First thing I did was resurface the parking areas and change out the fencing. This is Banyan Bend! These rednecks can't afford fancy fences, so chain-link it is! I also added the fountains and those 2 large statues. Just because. I also made that main flowerbed smaller - so delivery trucks could access the main building. Then, on the backlot, I redid the houses - mostly used different finishes and added some more landscaping.
Tumblr media
Then I made that area where the 'stars' can hang out in their trailers. Oh! And I switched out all the trees.
Tumblr media
And finally, in the back, I added a guard shack, more fencing and that driveway to the back doors of the main building. And viola! Banyan Bend has a new place to make movies! Go me!
While I was in the area, I also got rid of the old science center lot. Since I used that hospital from Supernatural on the lot in town where they had their hospital RH, I really didn't need another lot wasted on my science sims. (This world was created before EA came out with their combo lots). So, I decided to make another 'movie' type lot.
Tumblr media
This one is loosely based on that KWLW Studio lot from the Sims 1. This is where the hit series, "As the Stomach Churns," and the "Next Great Sim Nation Idol" are filmed. And the local Banyan News channel churns out their daily feed. I used that smaller stage - the 6x7 - one for my Idol stage. If any of you want it, it's over on TFM's Naughty Sims Asylum. You have to be a member, but sign-up is super easy. Once you get over there, type in Shimrod's mods. It's his BuyDebug Genie Lamp and smaller showtime stage mod. Pop it into your overrides folder and viola! A smaller stage is yours! Easy-peasy!
Anyway, I'll post interior pictures later. I was moving in sims today - after redoing the generic cemetery they had. Had to kill off sims and then replace all the fake graves with ones that will generate ghosts. Plus, I write bios for all my families and then - with the help of MasterController - create conflict amongst all of them. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it. Which is why I am the simgoddess and my sims aren't!
