I wish I could fully escape the alphabet show on Twitter but that’s hard when I have moots still talking about it. Currently on Twitter and this post says “say something BAD about this show (hsmtmts) and the fact that so many ppl are saying Gicky stans just give me a sense of joy. Like I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees how toxic they are as human beings. One person joined and then left a week later because of how terrible they are. I looked through all the quotes and of course I saw people hating Portwell but there wasn’t many people saying the stans SPECIFICALLY which is good cause that screams that Portwell’s weren’t too much of a problem. Some of the people saying Gicky stans weren’t even full fan accounts, they just stated their opinion on Gicky one time and all hell broke loose for them as they got attacked by all the toxic fan pages. Feels great not having to deal with them anymore although my timeline is about to be hell when it releases. Hopefully after a month or two it’ll die down and I’ll never have to see this show again

I won't say every single one of them is, because I know I wouldn't want it if they generalized about pws, and because i also know a couple rinas with whom i can have an actual conversation with (love you if you see this lol), but my experience with 90% of the rina fandom has been negative. They either call me racist or mysoginistic or stupid or any other name for not stanning Gina to the end.

I know the pw fandom (at least on tumblr) has died down for 2 reasons. 1, obviously pw is no longer together and many people were disappointed, but also 2, because the rinas bullied them out of here. It's not cool to bully people when you don't agree with them, or call them names for not liking your fav (which is valid w/o a reason, but it's also valid WITH a reason, which i know every pw who dislikes Gina and/or Ricky HAS a reason. And btw, most pw stans are also Gina stans, idk where y'all get the idea that we don't like Gina).

I always say this when I answer these types of asks but i'll say it again:

BULLYING ISN'T OKAY NEITHER FOR RINAS OR PORTWELLS.

I'm so sick and tired of this fandom being so divided that we even drive new people away with our stupid ship wars and online fights. It's honestly embarrassing for all of us who are still active in this fandom, and I include myself because I know sometimes I contribute to the ship wars that drive people away, although I really try not to.

I try to be a positive person, even when i'm critiquing the show for things they could've done better/things i think kinda sucked, i try to stay in my lane and not shame anyone who DOES like the things I dislike about it. I must admit, though, it's very, very hard to be positive when i'm constantly being sent anonymous hate. I know a couple more accounts who just stopped posting or closed their asks because it was getting ridiculous how much bs they had to deal with. Which again, I find embarrassing.

I wish we could all just enjoy this show without tearing each other apart. I wish we could be one of those fandoms that's known on the internet for just being super chill (The Lunar Chronicles fandom, The Dragon Prince fandom, the Renegades fandom, etc).

Most of us go online because we want to be a part of a community that loves and enjoys the same things we do, so why can't we just be that? Love and respect each other despite having very different thoughts and ships and fav characters.

You know why I hate love triangles? Either the writing or the fandom will villianize one character from the triangle and it sucks.

I have nothing against Rina, infact I'd actually be open to it if it didn't come at the expense of ruining EJ's character. I've seen so much character bashing from some Rina stans towards EJ, Ashlyn and last season Nini all because???

This also applies to some portwells bashing Gina and/or Ricky... stop it.

Maybe, just maybe we can all acknowledge their a bunch of high schoolers who don't always get along, make a dozen mistakes, mess up and have their own issues?

Or does that only apply for you favourite character?

I'd be open to s4 Rina, only if they don't ruin EJ's character. I mean, what would be sweet could be EJ and Gina talking again, maybe a finality of their relationship but promising to still be friends. Because wether you ship them or not, you have to admit EJ was there for Gina when she needed him (except this season bc...yeah) and he genuinely did care for her and vice versa. Think, rini breakup scene if you may.

Oh, also EJ better apologize to Gina because?? he didn't even say the word sorry?? Like don't get me wrong, I'm an EJ Caswell defender always but by not making him atleast apologize...yeah, the writers are just setting him up.

And is anyone just sick of Ricky and EJ fighting? I want them to both apologize to one another and be friend or atleast civil again. (Which they were in s2 until Tim decided hey! let's break friendships up for a love triangle!)

Idk it just feels like lazy writing on EJ's character, and a repetition of s1. Also, it's funny how every character that has a breakdown always gets a song or support from other characters but no one, not even his cousin, (Tim, did you forgot you write the Caswell cousins as close??), has asked him how he was as he's dealing with all of this show madness.

I even saw some people in the fandom bashing and making fun of him for...being stressed out about the musical? Saying that he was a bad director?? Like yeah no shit??

This was a long rant which points are all over the place but basically, I'm pissed off at the writers and love triangles, and the obsession of ruining characters growth for the sake of someone else's.

Again, lazy writing.

I really really hope that he sees a lot of the asks that you've been getting over the past couple of hours. For months I have been trying to find a group of people who could understand the nuance behind the disappointment over all of this. I know you've had a few takes but I'd like to throw mine into the mix mainly because of a previous ask you have just received. Matty has always been somewhat controversial with what he's said and done. Getting heat for being a 75 stan is not a new thing. But I'd say personally since Notes things have shifted to a whole other level. He always says he knows the importance of being someone's band and how it can become part of your identity as a person. The fact his LGBTQ+ fans, POC fans, female fans etc are all now catching heat and having their moral character questioned for things that he didn't need to do is deeply unfair. If you love them, why would you do that? And to go in an article and call them either 'mental' or liars when you've talked about the investment that you get from them is just WILD. I was happy to catch flack from right wing dummies about abortion bans and LGBTQ+ laws because that's what we signed up for. But all of this is so not that. There's just hypocrisy and contradictions EVERYWHERE and it's making my brain and heart hurt.

Seeing that disappointment spread to people who's careers he's worked with and people who we used to think were his friends is such a stark contradiction to the man who most of this fanbase fell in love with. Because with what Rina said I'm worried there's more things that we don't know. Like I think this might be my final straw.

Trying to suck the poison out if words he has no business touching, or even sitting in a room where people were saying the shit they were saying on this podcast kind of makes me feel like he doesn't give a fuck about us anymore honestly. There is a massive disconnect between what I signed up for and where we are now and that's completely and utterly his fault. Because he knows better, and we know he knows we know that, because that's the kind of base he's cultivated.

I don't know what it's going to take for him to realise the genuine real life not 'mental' implications the things he's been doing have on his fans. I have a friend who is black, she's been to every Manchester show since 2013. She always used to go on about how the line in liiwmi about misdemeanors was so heartening to hear from a white man because it shows he's really been getting to learn about the prison industrial complex and real structural and institutional racism rather than the surface level stuff most artists want to address. This UK tour she had loads of interactions with Matty at her show and she was on cloud nine. Then she heard the podcast and her entire perspective flipped and she was so upset. She felt objective, was paranoid about why he was looking at her so much and I felt fucking terrible for her. Because that's real. The time and energy people give to stanning is real. So that's a very real and valid reaction to me.

I have so much love for those boys, at this point I might say too much I can't help it. Because if I loved them less I would have taken a bigger step back a while ago, but I'm only human and I have flaws. I can see that same pain and turmoil in the asks on this blog and I just want to say that these feelings aren't frivolous or stupid they're real. For those people who are having a genuine inner conflict about these things going on that idk what we're going to do, but like you're not the only one. If you're wrestling with knowing a lot of this is wrong but you still love them, it's fucking hard rn.

All I know I'm fucking exhausted. He can't criticise Kanye and then do that salute. He can't sit and listen to people mock several marginalized groups and then get mad when people want to doubt your status as an ally or even worse SAY NOTHING and then still say 'you're my people you can't say I'm racist' like SIR you need to help us out??? We're dying out here! It's an unfair burden to put on your fans and it's just wrong. Matty if you're reading this, get your ass on a live or something and just like FIX THIS.

What are your thoughts on when we’ll get a release date or a trailer? I was so convinced they’ll release it in July like last year but now I’m afraid that ship has sailed 😭

Hi Anon! I have a couple other anon requests I’ll get to tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure I got this one answered today BECAUSE I think we are getting info tomorrow.

Last year on the exact same day, Disney+ gave a bunch of announcements for future shows in the series (as a part of National Streaming Day). This included HSMTMTS have Corbin Bleu in s3 and the renewal of s4. Well, guess what day tomorrow is? 😁 and there is a tik toker @abbzbon who will be doing “flows” all day of different shows and what shows to watch on Disney+ if you watch Hulu and vice versa. I think we will get info there and/or on YouTube when they drop the video on show announcements. I don’t see them doing any more than a sneak peek at a scene (my guess is the principal announcing the play will be HSM4) and a release date.

If this is the case, I feel like we can expect the same timeline as last year where we get the first trailer mid-late June and the first episode late July… which I agree kind of sucks.

HOWEVER, we know this season is probably following the pattern of previous seasons (because it’s been revealed there will be a Halloween episode), so I could see them picking up right where season 3 episode 8 left off. Dara said episode 8 is important to rewatch for s4 and we have that screen cap of what looks to be Ricky unpacking on his bed (perhaps a flashback to before the kids watched the trailer?) so I think the SHOW will start mid-late summer, which would line up with when we start to watch it too.

TLDR: one scene and a release date tomorrow, trailer mid-late June, first episode release late July-first week of August

I also genuinely think we are getting a s5 but it won’t be announced tomorrow

My prediction for the first episode (if you care hahaha)

We start off right where episode 8 left. We see rina kiss again and them walking off stage and some sneaky scene where someone (even Corbin if he’s secretly still being a villain) is capturing their audio (the camera turned off, but mic’s very well could have still been on and for Corbin to blatantly say he was turning off the camera feels… sus to me)

We see a time jump of the kids returning from camp and some of the reasons they were dressed/acting the way they were at the trailer premiere (like Kourtney). We see the scene of Ricky unpacking and the photo of gina on his bed.

Then we flash forward to the first day/week back at East high where the kids find out about hsm3 -something Jenn is so proud of- just for the spotlight to kind of be taken by the principal announcing hsm4. (I feel like this will reflect her story arc in a big way. Like she’ll get another chance to be in an HSM movie and/or she is sad about the spotlight of her show getting taken so Mozzarella Stick comforts her and that’s what gets them together [I’m a Mikexjenn stan, but I won’t deny who will probably end up together]).

“Youngjae and his dad are almost here, but I reeeeeallllyy need to go to the restroom,” you say to Rina, getting out of your seat. “When you see them can you just let them know that I’ll be back?” Rina laughs, nodding her head and gesturing for you to go. You were on your second cup of mango iced tea after all. 

“Mommy is Youngjae almost here?” Sian asks. He has been here with his mom for about half an hour already, waiting for his friend to come so they can play. He had just been walking around the shop this whole time.

“Almost, just be a little more patient okay?” Rina answers him. He walks up to his mom, climbing on her lap. 

“Let’s call daddy please, while we wait,” he says. At the time, Jungkook was out on a scheduled photoshoot. He was the photographer for a recently engaged couple. 

“Okay, but I don’t know if daddy’s busy at this moment so let me text him first.” Rina says, holding the phone in front of Sian since he was on her lap, as she texts his dad.

At the exact time the two were distracted, Youngjae came pushing through the door. A huge smile on his face. Taehyung was just about to go on his break, taking off his apron and hanging it on the wall, then he stepped out from behind the counter.

“UNCLE CUPCAKE!” 

Taehyung turned to the voice who called him, seeing Youngjae run with a huge smile on his face towards him. Taehyung couldn’t help but smile, spreading his arms open for Youngjae to come into it. He pulls Youngjae into a big hug, picking him up. 

“Hey I missed you--”

“So you’re the famous ‘Uncle Cupcake’ my son’s been talking about.” Youngdo says, smiling at Taehyung. He holds his hand out for him to shake.

“Choi Youngdo, I’m his dad,” he introduces. Looking from Taehyung to Youngdo’s face, they were very different in appearance. While Taehyung had soft features, Youngdo was the opposite. While Taehyung’s smile looked sweet, Youngdo’s was more of a smirk.

“Kim Taehyung,” he reaches out his hand and shakes the man’s hand. 

“My best friend,” Youngjae says, hugging Taehyung even tighter. Taehyung smiles, hugging him back. Youngdo’s smile faltered slightly.

“Yn told me to drop him off here, but, I don’t see her,” Youngdo says, looking around. He then takes out his phone from his pocket, calling you. 

“Are you looking for Yn?” Rina says suddenly, causing Youngdo to turn towards her. “She’s in the restroom right now.” Sian looks up to see Youngjae and he quickly gets off of his mom’s lap, excitedly running towards Taehyung.

“Hi Youngjae!” He yells up. “Come play with me!” Sian reaches up for him, making Youngjae wiggle out of Taehyung’s arms. Excited to be with his friend once again.

“Well I guess he’s in good hands,” Youngdo says, he checks the time on his watch. “Ah. I have to get going, just let Yn know that I left.” Youngdo says, turning around to leave. 

“Youngjae,” Rina calls, “Your dad is leaving.” Youngjae looks up, walking away from Sian and his toys, to give his dad a hug before leaving. You had just gotten out of the restroom at this time, there had been a line, and you were surprised to see your son hugging his dad. They weren’t that close, he was usually quiet around him. So you wondered if he really did have fun during the weekend.

“Wait!” You yell as Youngdo was about to walk out the door. He turns around, smiling when he sees you. 

“Where’s his things?” You ask, not seeing any of the stuff Youngjae left with. Youngdo looks at you confused before it clicked in his mind.

“Oh-- yeah, it’s in the car. I’ll get it so you can put it in yours,” He says, walking out of the door.

“I’ll just come with and you can tell me what went on in the weekend, because you suck at updating me,” you say, annoyed. The only text messages you got from him was when they got to his place after he picked him up from your house and when they left this morning to drop him off at the bakery. 

You walked with him to where his car was parked and he took out one too many bags that Youngjae left with. 

“What’s this?” You say, looking in the bag. 

“He wanted to paint, so we bought some and painted together,” he says. “Where did you park?” He says, holding the rest of Youngjae’s things.

“Over there,” you pointed. The two of you began walking to your car and you ask him, “you bought him new things?” 

“Don’t I always?” He says. I mean, he did always buy Youngjae toys, but that was only so his son can keep himself occupied while he’s spending the weekend with his dad.

“But you actually used it with him.” Youngdo laughs at your response. You open your trunk, putting his bag in while Youngdo does the same.

of course, none other than king943 hSJADJSAJHAS. He’s a little secret I’ll let you all in on: the first person I actually noticed in TXT was,,,,,,, Kang Taehyun hSDHJAHJSDAHSA but he wasn’t my bias. I just thought he was cute (also amused me bc my BTS bias was Taehyung and I found a guy named Taehyun cute), but I didn’t stan them then. I started stanning when I saw ONE DREAM.TXT where they talked to BTS and found them really cute and endearing. God do I seem boring hsahsajjsa but i wasn’t too big on plushies. I had a gigantic teddy bear named Justin when I was a kid (it’s a bear with shades that my brother gave me) and I used to buy plushies whenever I’m in disneyland, it’s all in my sister’s reading lounge. I think there should be a good balance of both. Honestly, this would depend. If I’m reading a book and feeling very vintage with a hot cup of coffee, definitely a rocking chair. If I’m watching TV and basically just chilling I’d go for Bean Bag. I like maintaining the atmosphere.

I view it as in-between, because there’s always room for improvement. There’s always things to change, and consider, and make better. There’s no such thing as perfect.

favorite season and why

Winter! Even if I’ve never experienced snow or winter before, the whole idea of snow is just really fun and endearing to me. One of my bucketlists is to see snow in real life. I think it has to do with the fact that I’ve always been this person to prefer the cold over heat.

what made you enter tumblr?

I’ve always been here! Just not in kpop tumblr. I’ve since deleted my old accounts and shame  but i came back to write. It’s always been so stress-relieving to me, to write without any expectations on my back because I’m thinking about grades or a competition. Also Soobin simping is a daily thing and I gotta release it somewhere man

are you happy with where you are in life right now? why or why not?

Yes. I may not be the richest or the prettiest, or smartest or whatever, but I have a good family that loves me. I have good friends that support me and I have TXT and BTS to help me cope when things get overwhelming. I have a job that gives me a little bit of income (it’s not too common for college students here to get jobs like in the US, most of them just focus on acads) and all the means to continue my education amidst the pandemic. So really, I’m grateful for where I am now.

to see the boys in real life but for it to happen only once in your lifetime, or to meet the boys via online fan meeting as many times as you can in your lifetime? why?

Why do you have to do me dirty cj,,,,, prolly online. I may not get to hug them or anything but I get to talk to them still. As may times as I want to. And as a girl whose sanity literally just depends on Soobin giggles rn it’ll be very therapeutic to me to see them and talk to them as much as I could, even just through a screen.

25. somebody you absolutely adore as both a musician and a person: not to pull out some deep cuts but william becket is LOVELY when he was touring his solo stuff a few years ago i met him a handful of times and he’s always been wonderful to my dad and i. hes a super talented and lovely guy. also cody carson from set it off is a lovely guy i used to see sio a ton and cody would recognize me so we’ve had some conversations and he is genuinely such a sweet man. but obviously fuck that band as a whole lmao
