catching up on second citadel and agonising over how they not only explore the trope of "what we sacrifice for love" but extend that to "what parts of ourselves have we made space for love to remain and thrive". its seen in the way Lord Arum still declares himself a proud lizard but that now includes whatever it will take to keep his promise and return to Rilla and Sir Damien. it's in how Quanyii opens their arms to the universe itself, not out of indulgence, but to protect and prove they are worthy of connection to those who have given her love in return. it's how Sir Angelo has made what he cherishes in others a part of himself to always keep those people feeling near. it's in how Rilla saw worth in what years of her passion could accomplish, even if that was only to know your loved ones are safe.

and it's in how everyone desperately wants to succeed, not out of merit or having a space amongst those who remain, but to claw for and keep close what they know to symbolise love.

listen... bestie- where's my rad bouquet fan fic where rilla meets/gets into a relationship w Arum first. that's all I want. I want the people in the second citadel to have all these rumors about the witch who keeps a monster around her hut. I want the supposed witch on the outskirts of town who makes funky medicine with funkier plants to have a lizard husband who grows said funky plants for her. I want them to just exist out there. I want Damien to get super injured and have to go to rilla cuz she's got all these incredible healing stuff and the second citadel doctors just can't deal w him. I want a Damien who's mostly super out of it n shit and can't help but sit there, half drunk, waxing poetic abt them both as they both help tend to his wounds. I want Arum and rilla to fall slowly in love w him and then feel guilty abt it cause they already have a partner. I want some heart-wrenching confession to happen between them where theyre both so scared on how the other will react. I want them to cry in relief that they both feel the same way. I want them to make fun of each other when one of them is staring at an unconscious Damien for too long even tho they were staring too. I want them to conspire together on how to tell Damien. I want them to comfort each other, both of them so scared to tell Damien, but knowing that at least they'll always have each other. I want them to finally get up the courage to tell Damien and they're so focused and excited that they kinda forget that Damien is so high on sedatives when he tells them that he likes them too. I want Damian to be so out of it at the time that he doesn't remember any of it. I want Damien feeling guilty abt liking them both cause now Arum and rilla are more touchy feely romancy w him now that they know he likes them and Damien doesn't remember any of it. I want a v flustered Damien because 'saints- these two hot creatures seem to be hitting on me but they're already together so it must be a joke'. I want Damien to end up 'confessing' to them both, expecting them to kick him out for getting between them. I want Arum and rilla to stare blankly at him and hesitantly tell him 'y.. yeah we know. aren't we already dating?' I want a v e r y confused Damien sputtering and being flustered, being very much not aware of that fact until rilla and Arum realize their mistake. I want them to communicate n shit and then just fuckin cuddle together and fluster Damien. thank you for coming to my Ted talk

I know everyone is obsessing over the new Junoverse episode right now (and so am I, trust me), but I’m relistening to Second Citadel The Battle at World’s End Part Four and thinking about RAD Bouquet.

Okay, but Rilla straight up had an emotional affair. Like she high-key cheated on Damien with Arum. And I feel like no one talks about that. She says she “figured it out” how she can be with them both before even mentioning Arum to Damien. She planned to be with them both without discussing it with Damien at all. She tells Damien he’s paranoid for noticing that her feelings for Arum are deep.

That’s an emotional affair. It’s not about her feelings, it’s about her plans. She was already planning on just telling Damien the situation instead of communicating and asking his feelings. That’s what’s fucked up. And I get why! It’s a character flaw of Rilla’s that she rushes in, that she’s excited by new things. She does love Damien! She loves him very much. She just didn’t pause to think about how he might feel, which is what she talks about in Battle at World’s End Part Three, which is also a hugely important part that few people talk about.

Rilla learning that she needs to value Damien and can’t just brush his feeling aside. That’s a HUGE character moment for her and I genuinely love it. I love that Rilla learns to value what she already has. That she doesn’t want to lose Damien.

Kevin and Harley have talked in commentaries about how having Rilla and Damien be in a traditional (ish) relationship makes it hard to cheer for them because introducing Arum is a break to the status quo, which people tend to want to see.

But I love Rilla and Damien’s relationship! They love each other! It’s comfortable to them! But it’s only comfortable because they find comfort in each other! They adore each other and make each other happy.

And Damien and Rilla both love Arum too! Of course they do. But their relationship is also important.

Damien is hurt by Rilla’s betrayal and he’s confused and hurt and he prays. He is so afraid of losing everything he’s ever known. Everything is changing and it frightens him. This change is hurting him. He learns to move and he changes a lot. He grows to change and to embrace change. (Kinda like Sasha Wire, huh)

But gods, this relationship compels me. I’m going feral.

I need a Rad Bouquet AU where Rilla, Arum, and Damien all meet at raughly the same time, and naturally Rilla and Damien officially fall in love and start a relationship™️. Because, you know, they are a human man and a human woman and they care deeply for each other so that's what they are supposed to do - fall in love and get married. It is only proper.

And you know, Arum is there, but he is just a close friend. Like, very close. He lives with them and dines with them, and has romantic outings with them only because his company is just so pleasant, you know?

He is their closest friend.

And everyone and their grandmother knows they are in a throuple. Sir Angelo, Sir Caroline, and Tal and freaking Marc.

Except for Rilla, Damien and Arum. They have no clue. And they are very surprised when they find out.

alright I only have 7 episodes to catch up to the most recent Second Citadel episode and I need someone to spoiler it for me because I will go insane: are Rilla, Arum and Damien ever nice to each other?

before you get mad at me for even asking, I don't mean that they're never nice generally. talking about each other they're kind and loving and very sweet, but I feel like every single time they actually talk with each other, it switches. someone's always annoyed, or angry, or not letting each other apologise and stuff.

idk how I feel about that but I do need to know if it ever changes or if I can stop hoping for it to?
