also me: ok but why was komaeda included with shuichi and kiyoko i mean what do those three have in common i mean i guess nagito invested with hajime a couple times therefore he could kinda be considered a detective. but that can be said about chiaki. if it was meant to be a trio of detectives, perhaps they shouldve had izuru or maybe just hajime. we all know that shuichi is keade's love intrest and kiyoko is makoto's, so would it be a stretch to say thats the common thread of the three? ykno what maybe its just random, maybe they picked three names from a hat and---

Dkfjksjdksjdkd I might be biased but I do think at least one person on the team knew what they were doing. Nagito’s only referenced as a “detective” once on his relationship chart, and I highly doubt they picked randomly, so that kinda just leaves the love interest thing? Or at least a slight theme of “characters who had some romantic feelings for a protag”

I don’t wanna rain on anons parade in any way, but stabbing someone was never Nagito’s original plan. His plan was to get HIMSELF killed by Teruteru. Imagine for a second. Hajime is at the party, having the time of his life with Nagito, but he seems to be focused on something else. The lights go off and when they turn back on Nagito is missing. Hajime is desperately running around checking every nook and cranny and then under the table, is Nagito’s corpse. His eyes go wide. Who did this? He’ll never forgive them! He searches around for evidence by himself, practically inconsolable. Fuyuhiko makes a remark how it was just some stupid idiot and Hajime snaps at him, and tells him never to speak about Nagito that way. At the trial, he screams at Teruteru when the revelation comes forth, how could he kill Nagito, but then Teruteru reveals that he was trying to prevent a murder. He tells Hajime about Nagito’s speech to him. Hajime can’t believe it. Nagito? Trying to kill somebody? Chiaki then pipes up. It’s less likely he wanted to kill somebody than it was he just wanted the game to start. And he used his own life to do so. Hajime has tears in his eyes. She’s wrong. They’re all wrong. Nagito wasn’t like that. He’d never do that! He runs away from the trial room his head in his hands. How much did he really know about Nagito Komaeda?

I can't get the idea out of my head that Yukizome wants the class to have like a fun picnic or party or something and Mahiru really wants to invite Sato and Fuyuhiko insists on inviting Natsumi. Chiaki jumps in inviting Hajime and Yukisome is just tearing up at how her class is so kind wanting to include all their friends. Meanwhile Nagito is just like 'why do I have to be surrounded by reserve course losers', but the second Hajime starts to introduce himself he just thinks to himself 'oh no'

u have mentioned this trope a handful of times and i too am a whore for the vampire nagito trope so <3 headcanons (long ask)

he like. refuses to drink anything red other than what he's required to - try to give the man pomegranate juice, hibiscus tea, or a cranberry cider and you're either getting punched or he's rambling to you for half an hour out of nervousness because he's afraid someone's gonna make a comment about it and he's paranoid

if he's still, y'know, edward cullen-ing while he's at hope's peak, he would 100% run out of the classroom at LIGHTNING goddamn speed, secret be damned, to escape his classmates - either because they saw him doing gay shit (*cough*) and he's afraid of their questions or he doEsNt wAnT tO bOthEr thEm wiTh hIS pReSeNcE, in true nagito fashion

the classic literature unit hits his literature class and he doesn't show up to that class for a week when they're discussing dracula. he literally cowers in his room that period for the entirety of the week and refuses to answer questions about it

he is so paranoid it makes it obvious, or there's a running joke. like hajime starts hanging out with chiaki and is asking like ‘hey what's that weird kid from your class's deal’ and she's just like ‘idk we think he's a vampire lol’ and ko's head SHOOTS up from across the yard and makes it Ten Times More Plausible to hajime's mind and its hilarious

when he has to go outside he gets one of those big sunhats and sunglasses and looks, in no way, casual, despite it being sort of normal to carry around an umbrella to hide from the sun

he still tries to eat garlic. you hand him like some garlic fries and he's eating the fuck out of them. like fifteen minutes later he's burning up, has a fever, and can barely speak because his throat hurts and he just excuses himself to the bathroom and dies for a solid 30 minutes, but you will be damned if he gives up garlic bread

hajime has to tell him to stop wearing cross earrings. like he'll see him reaching for his on his nightstand (because, let's be honest, if they dated ko WOULD steal his jewelry) and he's like ‘???? are you stupid or dumb’ and nagito is just getting frustrated with his bright red fingertips and hajime has to WRESTLE them from his hand because he is Not giving up without a fight

(when he asks, nagito says gay shit is more important than vampire shit. this gives hajime an impromptu headache.)

he comes up with increasingly ridiculous stories to explain the scar, saying he was attacked by a dog, and then a bear, and one time saying he was attacked by a serial killer with a biting fetish (the most believable of the stories, truthfully) and then, one time, to hajime's utter pain, says, ‘its the fluorescents’ (a direct quote from a twilight movie)

he can still eat, but doesn't need to to survive, so he decides to just eat chocolate cupcakes for a week, except in front of everyone - so all they see is him eating chocolate pastries for breakfast every morning and Nothing Else and its just bizarre enough for them to worry vaguely

chiaki was not explicitly told, but assumed, even possibly as a joke, so one day, when hanging out with ko, asks him if he's ever been to transylvania. he chokes on his coffee and it comes out of his nose, and he actually has to get chiaki off the floor manually due to the laughing fit

hajime, jokingly, asks if they'll have to get married in a church graveyard instead of a church, and nagito not only almost dies at the prospect, but sputters long enough for hajime to ask, ‘or are you just gonna take my soul instead of marrying me?’, which causes another near-heart attack, impressive for someone who doesn't have a BEATING heart

on Halloween, no matter how obvious his costume, he always gets asked if he's dressing up as a vampire. he cannot escape it. hajime thinks its hilarious

hajime asks miu to make him a polaroid camera that doesn't use silver in the film, because he wants a classic polaroid wall of nagito but he won't show up on regular polaroid film, and she agrees - she does think its weird as hell, but she agrees nonetheless, and hajime can be seen regularly snapping pictures when nagito isn't looking and hiding them in his pocket <3

yes. most of these were unhinged. i am a sucker for this little queer man being undead as the next bitch, but also i think it makes for SO many funny opportunities that i could not help myself

izuru for the headcanon thing!

realistic hc: he has a horrible attention span. like he can be serious and pay attention if he needs to, but he can, has, and will bail on important future foundation meetings because he thought of a new prank he could play on kazuichi. (this one is technically also a funny hc but. idk i wanted to put both of these lmao)

funny hc: he has incredible memory, too much time on his hands, and so so so much boredom to stave off. this absolutely means he memorizes vines and memes to recite at obscure moments, but he also never emotes when he does so. he spews entire copypastas with a deadpan expression and no one ever knows what to do

painful but interesting hc: after chiaki dies, izuru keeps her hair clip in his pocket and sometimes he looks at it and tries to figure out why feels his heart sink when he does. he can’t remember anything about her beyond her face as she died, can’t remember anything from back when his face might’ve belonged to another. trying just gives him a headache, asking isn’t possible with the remnants scattered around japan. so he’s just left with a hair clip and a faint sting in his chest.

screw canon hc: this one’s more of an au, but i like the idea that he actually doesn’t have ultimate luck? since it isn’t something super tangible, the hpa scientists were never able to add it to izuru’s list of talents. during the tragedy, izuru has a big interest in nagito because luck is the one thing he lacks and the one thing that makes things interesting.

okay okay uhhh, so yknow how in the 6th chapter, junko proposes the idea where the survivors could just live their lives forever in the tropical life of the neo world program. and projects the player/hajime into a snippet of what that could be like (no killing game, everyone is alive and happy, no sorrow no despair) but chiaki helps hajime realize that this is not the solution.

buuuut, but but buuuut… what if hajime still gave in, gave into the ideal world of everyone being alive and happy, even after all the class has been through. and so, the game becomes “reset” everyone is alive and happy, and survivors forgot everything from the past game. though hajime keeps having these weird nightmares, and what he thinks are illusions of his classmates dying. for example, let’s say he’s hanging out with nagito, they’re laying on the beach together and hajime looks over to him and sees nagito’s mouth taped, blood is splattered on his face and body, and tears are streaming from his eyes. but when hajime blinks again, he just sees nagito with his eyes closed, enjoying the breeze. hajime is still alert after this, wondering what the fuck was that?? but he shrugs it off. he would also see chiaki from time to time, like he would see a figure in his peripheral vision, but once he focuses on it the figure is gone. (the last half of the paragraph goes for the other survivors too)

another part of this game reset is that everyone seems happy. too happy. never sad in a way, only the survivors can still have full range of emotions. and they have an itch in the back of their mind, thinking that “this isn’t right” but they don’t listen to it because they’re having so much fun with their classmates!

also having hajime soon realize and remember what happened before the reset, which makes him isolate himself from others, realizing he fucked up and trying to figure out how to get the other survivors to believe in him and get out of this illusion. GOD i would love a fic like that fucjhyfjb… i sadly can’t write tho so i’m sharing my ideas with youuu <3 (btw this idea was inspired by Leariqa’s “with heads inside a dream” animatic sososooo)

*grabby hands* kozu your brain is so damn HUGE i love this so much?????? Mmmmmmmm I wanna write this so baddddd specifically that scene of Hajime and Nagito bc damn death is fun to write about………..

Also?? Chiaki appearing as a flicker before disappearing when you turn to look at her????? Agghhhh dude I love that I would love to do something with that!!!!! Hhhhh brainrot go brrrrrrr have I mentioned that I love this?

👀👀 oh worm??? Your honor I love this?????

Ahh it’s hard to imagine Sonia as an antag, but. Her country is a like. War-focused one, right? Or at least they seem to have a focus on their military since she mentions even young kids knowing their way around with a tank

I wonder if she could have been a little more cutthroat? Maybe if she were raised as more of a war general and used the whole “bow down!!” persona more. I think she’d still probably be one of the nicest antags, but maybe her desire and obligation to go back home to her people makes her a little colder? Leads her to detach herself from the rest of the cast in case she ever has to bear their executions in exchange for her freedom.

Protag Chiaki, I can totally see. I really love seeing her be a leader because she seems pretty absent-minded at first? So her being logical and level-headed under pressure is really really cool to me dkfjskjxskj. I like characters that have little mini twists like that. Anyway!!! I almost feel like she would be kinda like a combo of Makoto and Kaede? Kinda unassuming at first but quickly stepping up to the plate and encouraging everyone to keep going and have hope and stuff.

I do sorta wonder if she would still be the traitor in this au though? Ahh that could be pretty interesting.......playing through the game while having to cover up the fact that you’re the traitor everyone suspects of being the mastermind. Also I just love the twist of 3-1 so much that I can’t help but be biased towards Chiaki being the protag and traitor at the same time haha

Also oh oh oh!!!! Imagine Sonia almost being successfully framed in ch4 or ch5 and Chiaki being able to vouch for her and give her an alibi just before everyone decides to cast their votes? Whether that’s by a last minute discovery via the evidence or by lying to lead everyone back onto the right track. I really love the idea of them having a scene after the execution where Sonia thanks Chiaki, and Chiaki assures her that she wouldn’t let a friend be falsely accused like that. And maybe the exchange gives Sonia a change of heart and she returns the favor by helping motivate everyone in ch6? I. I don’t know I think it’d be neat 👉👈
