Heyyy, guess what, a professor who's also a Catholic priest told us during a lecture that a LOT of Catholic priests have a long-term partner, sex included, and that they simply keep it a secret. And yeah obviously it was certain that some priests do have a secret partner but I didn't imagine the percentage to be so fucking high??
Oh also about 30 % (in my country at least) of Catholic priests are gay
Richard Sipe, who was a former priest himself and wrote several books on the abuse crisis and the Catholic priesthood, said about as much in his research. The numbers he gave was a fairly solid 50/50 between priests who consistently and intentionally practice celibacy and those who straight up just don't try. Priests fathering children has also been a problem for decades at this point and the Church still refuses to acknowledge that many of their priests are, not only sexually active and have long term romantic partners, but those same priests often have children.

this ask is a bit late but I definitely recommend reading Richard Sipe's books, he had extensive critical writings on the church as an institution and its milieu of deceit, clericalism, and abuse of power. it's been a very enlightening and surprisingly cathartic read, especially for me as a non-religious person. I don't regret buying the books at all
I first heard about him from SNAP and some other documentaries about abuse in the Church. I'm glad to hear that his books are good. I’ve rarely, if ever, actually heard anything negative about him or his work.

The Church was showing a quite new aspect of itself, devouring its own children.
—Carlo Falconi, The Popes in the Twentieth Century
When priests sexually abuse children they violate a trust between spiritual innocence and sacred fatherhood. Specialists in childhood trauma have used the term ‘soul murder’ to describe the profound damage that can ensue when a priest abuses a young member of the faithful. Psychotherapist Richard Sipe, a former priest who specialises in treatment of clerical child-abuse survivors, writes: ‘A person who has been grounded since childhood in one faith, where their self-worth, acceptance, spiritual identity, and salvation were vested, cannot simply forget, put it behind them or join another faith. They can go on with their lives, but the part that is missing cannot be restored. Something is dead; something has been truly killed.’ The spiritual empowerment that might have aided recovery has been profoundly undermined. For children, it is especially difficult to separate the abusing priest from the auspices of the Church, with all its comforting and healing associations.
The consequences of clerical abuse of minors have been emerging in reports of contemplated suicide, attempted suicide, and actual suicide of victims. In Melbourne, Australia, five men who claimed to have been abused while serving as altar boys in the church of the priest Ronald Pickering committed suicide. These deaths, uncovered by lawyer Judy Courtin, add to the forty other suicides in the state of Victoria by victims who had been abused by priests, according to documented police reports. Courtin is conducting investigatory research into clerical sexual abuse for Monash University’s law faculty.
When the original grooming, or sexual attack, occurs in the circumstance of confession, the auspices of the sacrament aggravate the harm. Sexual abuse of children linked to the confessional has not only been widespread, but is known to be especially destructive to the children involved. A priest in England, ordained thirty years ago, and for twenty years a psychotherapist treating clerical sex offenders within his diocese, wrote to me that ‘in all those cases [of clerical abuse of minors], the sacrament of confession was used [by the molester] to discover vulnerability and groom candidates for abuse.’
In March 2010, when the Catholic Church in Germany set up a hotline and invited victims and their families to report instances of clerical abuse in parishes and schools, more than 8,500 people responded. Andreas Zimmermann, the expert responsible for analysing the results, told the German Catholic news agency KNA that the abusing ‘priests had used their moral authority and psychological effect of rites like confession’ to gain power over children, ‘even to the point of telling them that the assaults were an expression of “God’s special love” for them.’

[BuddyRichard] 🧑 [or send sibling if no emjoi]
| Send 🧑 to speak to my muses sibling
Monarch butterflies fluttering through bug opens blue sky of nice warm day, far too perfect for a schoolday, least Zane thought. Perched up against the side of his car, arms at his sides hand tucked into his pockets, thick black sunglasses one to shield his eyes from the sun. Not as harsh out here but still bright enough. As he rested back against the car school bell going off had his attention shifted to the front doors kids began to pool out from the building a small steady flow at first until it was like they were exploding out. Just left him smiling to himself watching all the kids rushing to thier freedom from the brick building. But once he saw a certien one did he move away from his perch. Sunglasses were pushed up off his face, sweeping back, light caramel hair side from a few strands that stuck out as he threw his hands up into the air and started to wave them as high over himself to make it easy to spot him as he went and called out to his nephew, a sharp loud whistle sounding out before words left.
"Hey, Bubbito! over here!" Zane called out excitedly as he waited for Buddy to walk his way, moving to crouch to thier height "Hey there kiddo, thought I miss ya in that mass of ankle-biters but that bright hair of yours helps." hand sat on thier head as he tossed thier hair up before he went to stand back up pulling the door open for them. "it's Friday so you don't gotta work on anything for school right away right?" he asked not wanting to completely disrupt the small eagles routine. When given a no Zane smiled and pulled his sunglasses back down over his eyes "all right then pop on in we got sunlight to burn" he paused " We're burning daylight I mean." he soon corrected after waiting for the small android to hop into the car.
Sure Buddy wasn't told about Zane getting him, they also weren't told he would be getting them. Zane never once said a thing or even made the offer to either of thier dads. Nope, this was a kidnapping of his nephew, in a very harmless sense. The back passage door shut once they were safely situated in the car. Zane made his way around to get into the driver's side before getting the car on and ready to go. He figured he had at least a five-minute head start on his brother or brother-in-law before peeling out of the lot and heading into to town.
-----
"Jeez you act like a complete stranger took your kid there," Zane said over the phone. Listening to Richard pretty much blowing up over the other end of the call. Zane looked down to Buddy who was standing off busy in front of the row of gaming machines before them. Zane handed them the little card load with 'tokens' on it for them to pay for the games they wanted. Moving his phone away from his ear letting Richard go off as he pleased at the moment as he looked at the same row. "Go ahead pick whatever you got a lot on that card there," looking himself the two racer machines catching his eye. "oh wanna see if your better driver?" he suggests prompting them that way first as he followed the phone back to his ear when hearing his younger brother repeated shout his name. "Rich chill, your baby is safe with me and more so safe from being boring and doing homework. I nearly fainted the last time I saw them. Telling me they read and for fun! what are you doing to this poor child! gonna turn them into a nerd like you were. Ya think Bailtos influence would be stronger and prevent them from becoming a bore like you." Richard was not assumed by that. As Zane took a seat in the machine next to the one Buddy picked watching them sipe the card into both to start it up as they went about picking thier characters, cards, and such. Zane turned to face Buddy as he mocked Richard well they were talking before turning his attention back to the call, looking to warp it up soon so they could play. "Ey Hermano can’t ya just loosen that stick a bit? Why don’t you take my favorite brother in-law” his only one not the point “out and have yourselves a nice date Kay? And me and jefe here will continue having quality uncle, nephew time now if you don’t mind I gotta teach ya kid how to lose.” Richard was still talking but Zane was done as he end call and put his phone away.
“That brother of mine, such a tight wad” he paused before looking to Buddy “That’s okay to say to a kid right? I was careful about the stick up the ass thing but is tight wad fine? Oh shit I said ass just now uh ignore the bad words alright Babbito.” Attention to the screen as Zane went and made his own selections now. “Not that he’s all that bad but he was never all that good about making sure to have a break now and again. I’m sure he still isn’t. I don’t think he ever impose that on ya either, but I think it’s good to give some unsolicited help now and again not to mention freaking out your dads a little is pretty funny. Don’t worry though you wont be in trouble I wont let them get mad at you.” ready to go on his end now
“now let me give you a lesson in losing.” Eyeing the little android who shockingly held a competitive side to them. They both faced their screens and grips the wheels, Zane using some advantage he had this was the same old game model he used to play as a kid. Sure they updated some stuff like the cars but the controls? They were the same. A few taps to the gas petals to rev the car up it help to fill up the speed gage. but you had to do it slow enough for it to not go all the way up since it could make the player car stall out and letting it not hold at a certain point or else it would drop it and your suck at the starting speed. Soon as the light went green Zane was able to take advantage and speed ahead at first. Playing against a kid was already a disadvantage playing against Buddy? Even worse. They managed to catch up leavening them far ahead he now fill in for the rest of the places. Lap for lap they were neck and neck sometimes they pull ahead the other. Zane making use of short cuts and clipping but Buddy picked up on I and made use of them the next time around. Till the last lap came they were right on par to each other Zane side glanced over to his nephew smiling to himself a moment before looking back to the screen foot tapping again as he pulled the stick shift on the side hoping this still worked on the newer models the car seemed to stall letting Buddy go ahead till it kicked back and speed up Zane’s at the last second it didn’t matter he was a split second for losing as the two of them tied. Zane throwing his arms up into the air “Dang it thought that woul have gave me the win!” He complained a bit before laughing and resting on the wheel. “Man your getting good finally got some competition here. You papa was terrible at this game we were kids. Well me your papa never been a kid really.” Zane teased a bit before going to get out of the chair swiping the card from Buddy as he swipe it for them to go another round, arms resting over the back of the chair. “Let me teach you my trick these things still work the same from when I was well a bit more tan you are now. You wanna tap the gas a few times lightly enough to get the speed gauge half way and then make even lighter steps so it stays and doesn’t o higher or you’ll stall out.” He went on to explain as the count down began, just like when Zane did it soon as the race started Buddy was given a sped boost as well.
“I love my brother and its good he is the way he is at times and you are a dead ringer for him, honestly I would almost think those two knuckle heads managed to have you. You remind me a lot of my brother the good and the bad course you got Bailey in you two, those two clearly are two parts of something better. And somehow I think that turned into you Bubbito. Just try not to hard to be like your papa he over thinks to much and never sees why stuff like this is good for you. Hard work is important but taking a moment to breath so not to overwhelm yourself is just as such your dads pretty good at that to an extreme so just look for a good balance. They are an interesting set aren’t they? But I feel you were the final piece for them.” Zane said to them soon Buddy wining the race as Zane reached down and once again tossed their hair. Card held up “Come on jefe we got way more gams to hit up and then we hit the prize room to load you up on sugar. Where I your responsible uncle will then drop you off to your parents to deal with.” If he was kidding it wasn’t by much waiting or Buddy to follow his lead as he went for another game “There some jellyfish game here wanna check that out?”

Dom is sick and has to cancel a show but that wont stop him from meeting with his fans.
*******************************************************************
"I am sorry Dom but you will have to cancel tonights show you cant risk getting any one else sick,"Adam cautioned.
"I feel fine Adam you dont need to baby me,"Dom pouted.
"Your not going to that show and its final you have to consider the well being of your fans,"Adam spoke.
"Uggghh fine,"Dom sulked blowing his nose into a tissue.
"Thats good to hear now you stay in bed and ill go make you some chicken noodle soup,"Adam said leaving the room.
Once Adam closed the door Dom waited untill he heard Adam's heavy footsteps walk down the stairs then he got dressed and snuck off down the fire escape hailing a cab headed twards the venue he was suppose to be playing tonight.
Dom still felt sick his stomach churned his nose still runny and his head hot but that was not going to stop him from meeting the crowd of fans waiting outside the venue.
Once the cab reached the venue Dom jumped out and ran to greet the crowd of screaming fans.
He took photos and signed a whole bunch of autographs.
While taking a photo with a younger fan Dom began to sneeze uncontrollably he felt light headed and like he was going to throw up.
"Are you ok Mister you seem sick,"the fan spoke.
"Dont worry about me I am just fine,"Dom replied ruffling the childs hair.
Meanwhile back at the house Adam entered Dom's room with a bowl of chicken noodle soup and peppermint tea only to find Dom missing and his bedroom window open.
Adam knew exactly where Dom had gone he so he quickly grabed his car keys forgetting that he was still wearing an apron and sped twards the concert venue to find the other outside surrounded by fans.
"Dominic Richard Harrison you are coming back home with me right now,"Adam shouted pulling the other by the ear.
"Hey you are not my mom,"Dom protested inbetween coughs.
"Dont give me that smack your sick and need rest,"Adam scolded draging the sick man into the car.
"Sorry guys the meet & greet is over Dom needs to go home and get some rest,"Adam said as he pushed his foot against the gas and sped away from the venue with a sick Dom in the back seat.
Once they reached home Adam carried Dom upstairs to his room and tucked him into bed.
Adam reheated the cold soup and attemped to feed some to Dom but he refused.
"I will not fight with you Dom you need to get better,"Adam huffed out of exhaustion.
Dom stared him down angrly sticking out his tounge in defiance.
Adam stared right back his thick eyebrows kniting together.
"Fine I'll eat your soup,"he growled.
"Good,"Adam smirked as he shovled some soup into Dom's mouth.
"So how does it taste,"Adam asked.
"Its good," Dom mumbled crossing his arms.
Adam smiled.
"Now I want you to drink this tea and relax you need rest,"Adam replied.
Dom sighed and snuggled into bed siping he hot tea.
Adam got up to leave but Dom stoped him.
"I am sorry for fighting with you,"he apologized.
"Its allright now get some rest,"Adam replied turning his back to leave.
"Umm one more thing could you mabey tell me a story,"Dom requested.
"Of course,"Adam spoke with a comforting smile as he pulled a chair up to the bed and began to tell the other a story.
Once the story was finished Adam looked over to see Dom fast asleep.
"Get well soon,"he said before walking out of Dom's room and turning out the light........

So apparently Richard Sipe is a former Catholic priest and psychotherapist who became a well known activist who dedicated his life to fighting for sexual abuse survivors within the Church and advocated for change and I have never heard of him until now????? He wrote several books on the subject of the abuse crisis and celibacy and has a documentary about his work????? He was mentioned in the movie Spotlight too???? I gotta track down his books and read them for myself AND watch whatever films or documentaries he was in, I would be very interested to hear what this man had to say and knew. Maybe I'll post a little book review whenever I get around to reading his books.

Cosmetic Dentistry and Oral Surgery in Georgia
Tumblr media
If you are suffering from one of those awful smiles that are often left on people's minds when they think about Georgia, look no further than Dr. Richard J. Sipes. For more than 25 years, Dr. Sipes has been an oral surgeon who provides exceptional services in the region of facial and oral surgery in Georgia. Because of his skills, his hands-on training, and his affiliations with oral and facial specialists, he is well aware of what procedures are most appropriate for the many problems that face our facial features. You can  find out more info here.
"For teeth that are too close to each other, where the roots are too close to the gum, or teeth that are misaligned, we can perform both procedures at the same time," says Dr. Sipes. "The jaw abnormalities we treat require oral surgery or maxillary sinus surgery." Teeth that are crooked, misaligned, missing, broken, or otherwise looking less than perfect can be treated with either reconstructive dentistry or the simple technique of tooth pinning. "We can also perform a face-lift using plastic surgery and the muscles of the face itself," says Dr. Sipes.
In Atlanta, Georgia, oral surgeons like Dr. Sipes are used to working with the metro area population. "There are a variety of people with facial features that need work," says Dr. Sipes. " Appalachian individuals have facial dysmorphic disorder, West Coast patients have dentate gypra, while Southern patients have panomandibular disorder." Panomandibular disorder refers to oversized jaw abnormalities that cause the upper part of the face to look unnaturally wide. This condition often leads to a grimace or an expression of discomfort. Reconstructive dentistry can correct both problems, thus giving patients back their joy of smiling.
Cosmetic dental work can also be performed in Atlanta, Georgia. The work includes everything from injectable fillings to dental implants. "When it comes to facial treatments, we offer traditional procedures along with modern technology," says Dr. Yapko. "We work with different dental offices so patients can get the best care possible," he continues. "We have a highly skilled oral surgeon and a highly qualified dental team to meet all of your needs."  Here’s a good  read about sedation dentistry suwanee ga, check it out!
Reconstructive dental procedures are most often limited to improving the aesthetic appearance of teeth. "When patients have chipped, cracked, discolored teeth, veneers can be applied to fix them," explains Dr. Yapko. "Or if you just want to whiten your smile a simple bleaching can improve it." He adds that tooth whitening is very popular because it is less expensive than other cosmetic procedures.
Another dental procedure that can help improve the appearance of teeth is known as inlays. "This is a common procedure for those who have gaps between their teeth," says Dr. Yapko. "It's not easy to fill up those gaps, but using this procedure, you can achieve amazing results." Inlays are generally used to create characters or patterns on teeth or to cover up cracks. In Atlanta, Georgia there are many dentists who perform cosmetic dental procedures that can give you a beautiful smile.  Kindly  visit this website  https://www.wikihow.com/Have-Plastic-Surgery  for more useful reference.

31 RIchard II by William Shakespeare dir John Sipes. This was a solid season of the ISF. Three great shows that all did well. We opened the season with Richard II and I played Aumerle and Willoughby. Aumerle was clean shaven and Willoughby wasn’t. And they gave me this great beard that matched my hair, but the thing was, I would have to walk offstage as Aumerle and come right back in as Willoughby, so I had to have someone prepare my beard for me, so I could walk offstage, slap it on, usually in the dark, do a costume change and walk back on. And then later, do the reverse. For some reason never explained to me, halfway through the season they switched beards on me. So now I had a blond beard that was spray painted black. And for some reason, the person who normally prepared my beard for me was not there one night, and they gave the job to someone who had never worked with spirit gum before. So I step backstage, grab the beard, slap it on, and every bit of it was covered in spirit glue. And all I can think about is the transition between 3:1 Willoughby to 3:2 Aumerle where I literally have to rip the beard off my face because I don’t have time for spirit gum remover. The time comes, RIIIIIP, flip my comparison from Bolingbroke to Team Richard, and I can FEEL the remnants of the glue all over my face. So halfway through the scene I walk up to David Kortemeier who is playing the Bishop of Ealy, and I whisper, “Hey, do I have shit all over my face?” And he looks at me and says “No, your fine.” So I finish the scene with confidence go backstage, see myself in the mirror and it looks like I have been eating dirt and oreos by the handful, because not only do I have spirit gum all over my face, but the gum leached the black paint from the spray through the beard. I go to Davo “You said I was fine!” And he was like “Yeah, but what were you going to do about it at the moment?” Fair point. #retrospective #1993 #illinoisshakespearefestival #richardII #johnsipes #aumerle #willoughby #bloomingtonnormal #ewingmanor #dirteater #dutchboy (at Ewing Manor) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4-MGGLJsXI/?igshid=cpeappq3kpry

Fidelity to religious tradition does not merely entail preserving the past, but also requires the ability to grow beyond the past, learn from it, revise the present, and shape the future in light of past lessons and mistakes.
