If your request is still open, I would like to request Laurie from that 70s show, female reader helping her redeem herself from her provocative behavior.

Word count: 988 Warnings/Content: Slight angst, mentions of weed, promiscuity A/N: This was lots of fun, and it took a different turn than I expected, but I think it was nice to write something a little more vulnerable for Laurie. She is a vulnerable character, but she deflects so much. I hope you enjoy!

Day One

You met her at a party. You were a little older than her, but you knew her type. She’s young, blonde and ready to have fun. She thinks she can do no wrong. She is the queen of the prom, but now that she isn’t in highschool, she’s trying to get everyone to love her.

It’s obvious to you that Laurie is promiscuous. What does surprise you is that she’s willing to talk to you. You are the quiet girl in the classroom and at the party, but you are chill and full of wisdom.

She’s upset over some asshole of a guy, and you light up a joint. You’re both sitting next to the record player, and you are listening to some loud rock record. Laurie only complains the whole time, but you try to give her good advice.

Day Two

It’s been weeks since you’ve seen her, but you think about her almost daily now. You are surprised that you are this affected by her. You try to suppress it, but it is difficult. You wonder when the next time you’ll see her.

It’s at another party, and this time she’s grinding up against some frat boy. Your blood boils, but outside you manage to stay calm. He’s not worth it, and neither is she. She’s the kind of girl you would have hated in school, so why are you now thinking of her?

You walk away, but your heart pounds in your chest. You wonder if it’s the right decision to leave her with this guy. You take one look back at her, but you just continue to walk away.

Day Seventeen

Laurie makes another excuse as your friendship develops. She’s come to see you as a sort of sister or shoulder to cry on, but she’s also someone who can never be honest with you. You know she’s just doing what she thinks is best for herself. You hold her dear in your heart but you really wish you could help more.

“This is why I’m going to his house tonight. I’m going to sleep with him for money,” Laurie states, but you just roll your eyes.

“You are going to get hurt. You think you don’t love him, but you know you have feelings for him. You’ve been trying to get his attention for weeks,”

Laurie just sighs as she continues to pack on the makeup on her face. You figure eventually she will learn, but you still worry for her.

Day Forty-Six

The days come and go as the summer heat brings upon pool party after pool party. As you realize that you will be seeing Laurie at all of these parties, you also start to wonder if she can ever get herself out of this vicious cycle.

The music is loud and thumping as everyone sits around the pool and lounges in the sun. You spot Laurie sitting on a patio chair. She seems to be upset, but she won’t let it completely show on her face.

You want to walk over to her and make sure she’s alright, but someone beats you to the punch. Some hunk of a frat boy walks over to her and gives her a drink. You keep an eye on both of them as you continue to sunbathe.

Day One Hundred and Eight

You’ve let Laurie crash on your couch more than once, but this time it was serious. Some guy had put something in her drink and you had to save her. She’s sleeping on the couch, clutching at the blankets.

You know you should probably send her home to her parents, but you don’t even know where to start. You know she lives here in Wisconsin, but where?

You wonder if there was anything you could do to help, but you aren’t sure. When Laurie finally wakes up, she knows what you’re going to say.

“I have to go back to my parents,” Laurie mutters softly as you give her some water.

“I’ll come with you this time,” You tell her, but she snaps at you.

“Who said you were invited?”

Day One Hundred and Ten

It became apparent to you where Laurie got some of her problems. Sitting at the dinner table with the Forman’s made you realize that while they were loving, they were not stable.

You can start to put the pieces together as they bicker and argue with one another. Laurie becomes even more endearing in your eyes as you realize that she’s just putting up walls and deflecting most of the time.

Upstairs in her room, you confront her about this. At first, she fights back.

“Leave my family out of this. Yeah, maybe my brother is a dork and my mom’s an alcoholic, but I can play my father like the fiddle.”

“Laurie, I just want you to know that I know you are a good person. You don’t need to let men take advantage of you,” You wrap your arm around her.

At first she stiffens, but then she melts into the embrace. It’s quiet and then she starts to sniffle softly as her heart breaks.

“You are the only one who has ever looked out for me,” she tells you. You nod your head.

“But your family does love you, Laurie.” You remind her.

“You can be free to have sex and use your body the way you want, but those guys will take advantage of you. You can do it the way you want, but you need to put yourself first.”

She looks into your eyes as she realizes some of the pain she’s kept inside of her. Then she stops crying and snaps again.

“I’m the one taking advantage of them. Besides, I know what I am doing.” There’s a smirk on her face, but you know she isn’t trying to be malicious.

She’s just Laurie, and she always will be.
